Title: To err WC: 900 Episode: Law and Murder (3 x 19)
He can’t stop thinking about little sins. It’s partly case related. It’s mostly daughter related. He’d like to change the narrative so that it’s Beckett related. He’d like to know all about her little sins, past and present.
His mind is uncooperative at first. Try as he might, he can’t swing his attention away from his kid’s nose twitch—her lie about her impending whereabouts—which could be as innocent as a let-him-down-easy lie, because she’s got better things to do than go to the movies with her dad on her day off. He tries to leave it at that, but his mind digs its heels in. It grabs the door jamb with fingers and toes as he tries to exit, and why does his mind have all these troublesome body parts anyway?
It’s a question for another time. The fact of the matter is, his mind won’t let go, and little sin leads to little sin. Or to big sin, if one is the very judgmental Detective Beckett. One should probably try to be the very judgmental Detective Beckett, because she, as usual, turns out to be right. His is a big sin as he learns in a dramatic reveal that begins with an apparently heritable nose-twitch tell and ends with his daughter stomping up the stairs, having lumped him in with the metro- and credit-card-tracking members of the vast and insidious parental surveillance state.
The very judgmental Detective Beckett when he foolishly shares the wages of his sin, tells him that he’s gotten no more than he deserves—both the stomping and the lumping, she insists, are justified. The very judgmental Detective Beckett then explains to him, in the slowest of teeny tiny words, the actual nature of his big sin. It has very little to do with the—perhaps sometimes justifiable—little sin of surveillance. It has very much to do with the big sin of broken trust.
The very judgmental Detective Beckett reminds him that he has the best kid in the world, and having forgotten that is another not-so-little sin. He’d like to wrench his mind away from that. He’d like to spend some time wondering if the very judgmental Detective Beckett should be throwing stones, because surely she has at the very least some teenage glass houses to worry about.
But he doesn’t have time to stew on that. The best kid in the world forgives him. She seeks him out to mend fences—to confess—and the fact that he’ll now have to wonder forevermore whether she’d have sought him out anyway, no little sin of surveillance required, is no more than he deserves.
He is not the happiest of men when she leaves. He is relieved and content to be reconciled, but he’s not the happiest of men. His mind does have the decency, at least, to shift to the past for a while. It’s his own past, though, so the decency of it is pretty underwhelming.
He can’t help wondering if he’s passed on more to his daughter than a nose-twitch tell. His stomach knots and knots again as he thinks of the wrong turns he rushed in to make the she was just trying to get through what was, ultimately, a confession that bears the stamp of who she is—who he should have remembered that she fundamentally is.
He assumed she’d gone back to secure her bad-kid street cred in the eyes of her bad-kid friends. He would have. He’s sure he did at some point, or he would be sure if his mind would cough up the details on any of his teenaged little sins. Instead, she’d gone back to cover for her bad-kid friends—to make amends and leave them roaming free to pile up their little sins some other day.
He’s sure he did that, too. His mind is not especially forthcoming on that front, either, but he remembers the static buzz of his teenage soul. He recalls the tiny increments of time he made his choices in. He was not, in the main, a bad kid, but he knew the place he had to occupy as the funny one, the poor one—at least in context—the hanger on.
No specific instances come to mind, but he knows he took the fall. He knows he played the part of the rug his bad-kid swept their sins under. What he doesn’t know is whether he ever had his own kid’s tightrope-walking courage to try to make things right, while questionably protecting the sinners’ identity.
He wonders where the very judgmental Detective Beckett would come down on that particular sin. More than that, he wonders about the sins—little and big, past and present—of the scofflaw formerly known as KBex. His mind, at last, has the decency to shift to the sins he’d most like to spend some time on, and fate, for once, is on board, too.
She’s off to the Angelika alone. She’s committing the little sin of a late-night movie on a school night, and he wants in. He gets in. He hops on board, and it all starts with a little sin.
You’ve never seen Forbidden Planet?
More of a Star Wars, Matrix guy myself.
It’s not even technically a lie. It’s just a tiny little sin.
A/N: The lack of morphousness in the immorphal soul.

For the 40 Questions meme: 11, 17, 22, 32. Please? I’d love to know more about what you like.
So many questions for the shipping meme!
11. Talk about your favorite first kiss.
I think I must go with my first instinct on this one and say Han x Leia in Empire Strikes Back. Like, I dunno. The transition from bickering to “I’m a nice man” to making out to C-3PO interrupting is just...incredibly them, and incredibly memorable, and just absolutely works as a moment that breaks the tension for both the couple and the audience. And then we don’t belabor it--by the time they get to Bespin, they’re together, in some way or another, and it’s fantastic.
17. Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically.
There are certainly couples for which I’ve fallen away from the fandom because of time and life and all of that, but I think one of the only couples I ever shipped hard and then super noped out of is Castle x Beckett on Castle. Like...man, their dynamic was so good early on--I loved their give and take, I loved the dance around their attraction, I loved the ways they didn’t fit the stereotypes the show set you up to expect.
And then they ruined it with stupid reasons they couldn’t be together, and then Nathan Fillion ruined in by being an asshole, and then they extra ruined it by treating Stana Katic like shit, and now not only do I not ship it, I want to tell Kate Beckett of the Amazing Coats to run screaming in the opposite direction, protected by hand grenades. (Same advice to Stana Katic, TBH.) (I also tried to watch Lucifer and noped out hard because the dynamic was too similar.) So...yeah. No. Never. Find anyone else, KBex.
(Bonus points for Adama / Roslin, which was less of a hard nope and more of a slow roll to what is even happening here...?)
22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?
As we continue to stick with the first instinct on this, will anyone ever really be hotter together than John x Aeryn on Farscape? Like. They just crackle together from the very start.
32. Share five must-read fics.
Like, now? Off the top of my head? Well, why not. Exceedingly random, this is not a lifelong list, except for all the ways it really is. Tomorrow’s would be different, because oh, there are so many stories I love out there. Here are five:
you can kill me any time by @professortennant, TDBM, Lucien / Jean, explicit. I just love the conceit so incredibly much.
Mavournin by Equestrienne Dreams, CtM, Patrick / Shelagh, mature. I like going back to the stories that were written when the relationship and fandom was new to see the way characters were drawn, and this is the best of the bunch when it comes to early wedding night fic.
Blue Eyes by @thassalia, Farscape, John / Aeryn, explicit. For being one of the stories that taught me what fic could be.
Clocking Out by @nandamai, SG-1, Sam / Jack, mature. For being one of those stories I read over and over and over again, for the ship, for the team dynamic, for the tropes, for all of it.
all the words that i know by abvj, Leverage, Sophie / Nate, explicit. Filler for “The Lonely Hearts Job” but so much more. She just writes great character.

Lupine Publishers |Stiffening of Clay by the Use of Paper Fly Ashes

Lupine Publishers | Open Access Journal of Environmental and Soil Sciences
Abstract
To improve the stiffness and bearing capacity of natural soils, traditionally lime or cement is used. This research focuses on the performance of an industrial residual product paper fly ash (generally treated as waste) as an alternative binder for soil stabilization. The present report summarizes the research carried out at the Ghent University. The research focused on the stabilization of kaolinite and bentonite clay. The experimental research consisted on monitoring the evolution of stiffening by time of a number of soil samples mixed with paper fly ashes. To this end, a non-destructive test was implemented to evaluate the small-strain stiffness of each specimen at different stages of curing. Kaolinite clay was chosen as reference clay material for stabilization. A commercial processed kaolin Rotoclay HB (Goonvean, St. Austell, UK) was used in this investigation. Kaolinite shows relatively low plasticity levels comparable to commonly found fine-grained soils. The non-destructive free resonant column test was used to evaluate the small-strain Young’s modulus (E0 ) of the soil specimens after stabilization with paper fly ash. The limited scatter of data suggests good repeatability and reliability. The first conclusions with regard to the application for soil stabilization are discussed.

Introduction
A limited bearing capacity of the subsurface may be the result of a bad quality and/or an insufficient compaction of the natural soil. For sandy soils the technique of improvement is in many cases compaction. For fine graded soils, and in case compaction doesn’t result in a higher bearing capacity, the soil can be mixed with stabilizing material. Traditionally lime or cement is used. Åhnberg [1] made an evaluation of the effect of different binders on the mechanical characteristics of clayey soils. In this research no direct relation could be made between the types of binders and the results of the modified soil characteristics. The authors confirmed that the change in strength of the soil depends on a number of factors. Previous research at the Ghent University proved that mixing paper fly ash improved the bearing capacity. Recently more research was carried out to confirm these results. Paper fly ash, with a significant lime content, results from the process of paper production. It is a residual product after incineration of paper and wood. The working effect of paper fly ashes as a binder are still insufficiently studied. The paper fly ashes discussed in this article have a large amount of free lime (9%). When paper fly ashes are mixed with clay two reactions occur [2]. In the first reaction there is an exchange of the cations in the soil and a flocculation immediately after mixing the binder with the clay. The second reaction is the pozzolanic reaction. This is a very slow reaction between CaO, H2O, SiO2 and Al2O3. In a previous study, made by Servaco [3] a lot of test results on the composition of paper fly ash were examined. In a later research Libbrecht [4] proposed 5% as an optimum percentage for mixing with silt. For this content the maximum CBR-value was reached. Out of a detailed research on the characteristics of paper fly ashes, made by the BAS Research and Technology Center [5], it could be concluded that paper fly ash contains a large percentage (13 %) of the mineral belite. Belite is also found in Portland cement and ensures the strength development over time. In 2018 [6] a first research on the influence of paper fly ashes on the stability of clay was made.
Materials and Methods
Kaolin clay was chosen as reference clay material for stabilization. A commercial processed kaolin Rotoclay HB (Goonvean, St. Austell, UK) was used in this investigation. Kaolinite shows relatively low plasticity levels, comparable to commonly found fine-grained soils. Table 1 summarizes some properties of this material. A freshly produced batch of paper fly ashes was provided by ATA International (commercial name Ecolime). The stiffening of Kaolin clay specimens stabilized with Ecolime at 6% dosage was monitored for a curing period of almost 200 days. The dosage of Ecolime was set based on the Eades & Grim test which determines the saturation dosage [7]. The test consists in measuring the pH of different soil-additive mixtures at different dosages and comparing them to the pH of the additive saturated solution (reference pH). The results of this test are illustrated in Figure 1. The upper boundary of Ecolime dosage for Kaolin clay treatment is about 6% in dry weight. Higher amounts of additive will produce no additional improvement. Therefore, it was decided to prepare samples at a dosage of 6%. Kaolin clay and Ecolime (at a dosage of 6%) were initially dry mixed in a dough mixer to ensure homogeneous distribution of the additive. Then, water was added to bring the mixture close to the optimum water content for standard Proctor compaction (w = 27%). Then, a number of specimens were compacted and cylindrical samples with a diameter of 50 mm and height of 100 mm were obtained through cutting and trimming. All specimens were allowed to cure in a humid environment at constant temperature of about 20oC.
The non-destructive free-free resonant column test was implemented here to evaluate the small-strain Young’s modulus (E0) of the soil specimens stabilized with Ecolime. The testing setup is illustrated in Figure 2. It consists of an accelerometer put in contact with the soil specimen at one end. At the other end, the soil specimen is impacted with a light hammer. The sample is laid horizontally on soft foam. The impact of the hammer generates waves of a broad range of frequencies. However, only the waves at a frequency similar to the fundamental frequency of the specimen will be amplified on its way to the accelerometer. Then, the signal captured with the accelerometer can be analyzed to evaluate the fundamental frequency of vibration of the specimen. Finally, this frequency can be correlated to the stiffness E0 through elasticity theory based formulations. The stiffening of kaolinite and kaolinitebentonite clay specimens stabilized with Ecolime at 6% dosage was monitored for a curing period of almost 200 days. The samples KEx refer to samples of kaolinite clay stabilized with 6% of Ecolime. The Figure 4 shows the comparison between the increase of stiffness between samples of kaolinite clay (KEx) and samples of a mixture of kaolinite clay (70%) (KEx) and montmorillonite (bentonite) clay (30%) (KBEx).
Results and Discussion
The results are illustrated in Figures 3 & 4. Figure 3 shows E0 -measurements on 12 specimens with the same dosage of 6% and natural kaolinite (K). The limited scatter of data suggests good repeatability and reliability. Moreover, the non-destructive technique produced a well-defined and continuous E0 increasing pattern. E0 was observed to increase almost linearly with time up to the 60th day of curing approximately. After that, the stiffness increasing rate significantly decreased. The evolution of E0 reflects the evolution of interparticle cementation in the clay fabric due to the addition of paper fly ash. However, the beneficial impact of the additive may also be affected by the composition and properties of the natural soil and local groundwater. In Figure 4 a difference can be seen between the kaolinite and the kaolinite-bentonite samples. The kaolinite-bentonite samples have a bigger initial E0 - modulus than the samples made from pure kaolinite. The different properties of the various families of clay minerals can be explained partly by the different levels of activity on the surface of the clay particle. Expansive clay minerals such as bentonite exhibit a high cation exchange capacity, whereas non-expansive clay minerals like kaolinite have a relative low cation exchange capacity.
Conclusion
The laboratory tests, in particular the free resonant column tests, indicate that a stabilization with paper fly ashes or with lime have similar properties. For soils with a high amount of kaolinite, paper fly ash has the same stabilization effect as lime. >For soils with a high amount of bentonite, lime is a better binder. After 28 days the effect of stabilization with paper fly ash is comparable with the stabilization with lime. Although the results are very promising, it remains important to study the chemical reactions in the sample with the X-ray diffraction method. The beneficial impact of the additive may also be affected by the composition and properties of the natural soil and local groundwater. More research is needed to confirm these results.

S6;E8 ~ October 29, 1973

Directed by Coby Ruskin ~ Written by Robert O'Brien
Synopsis
When Lucy meets a charismatic man (Andy Griffith) raising money for underprivileged youth in the park, Kim decides to investigate to see if he's really who he says he is.
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carter), Gale Gordon (Harrison Otis Carter), Lucie Arnaz (Kim Carter)
Guest Cast

Andy Griffith (Andy Johnson) was a former music teacher. He began his screen career in 1948 on variety shows hosted by Ed Sullivan and Steve Allen. In 1955 he was nominated for a Tony Award for his appearance on Broadway in No Time for Sergeants. He also appeared in the 1958 film version of the play. In 1960 he appeared with Danny Thomas on “Make Room for Daddy” as Sheriff Andy Taylor and the character was spun-off into his own series “The Andy Griffith Show.” He stayed with the show until 1968. That same year he appeared on “The Tennessee Ernie Ford Special” on NBC with Lucille Ball. He also appeared as Andy Taylor on two episodes of “Gomer Pyle: USMC.” In 1971 he starred in “The New Andy Griffith Show” which lasted only one season. He had another hit series in 1986 with “Matlock” which ran until 1995. Griffith died in 2012 at age 86.

Sid Gould (Policeman) made more than 45 appearances on “The Lucy Show,” all as background characters. This is one of his nearly 50 episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Gould (born Sydney Greenfader) was Lucille Ball’s cousin by marriage to Gary Morton.

Randall Carver (Henry, left) began his career in 1969 and is best remembered as John Burns on the first season of “Taxi” (1978-79). This is his only appearance with Lucille Ball. He was 27 years old when he appeared in this episode.
Rick Kellman (Jerry, above right) played Lucille Ball and Bob Hope's son in the film Critic's Choice in 1963. He started acting at age 6 and is best remembered for playing Randy in “The Dennis O'Keefe Show” (1959-60) and Tommy in “Our Man Higgins” (1962-63). A year after this appearance on “Here's Lucy” he left show business.
The character's name is not spoken aloud, just listed in the final credits.

Hank Stohl (Bill Adams) began his career in 1959 and was the voice on the radio on “The Waltons” from 1977 to 1980. This is his only appearance with Lucille Ball.
Bob Whitney (Stage Manager) appeared with Lucille Ball in The Facts of Life (1960). This is the second of his five appearances on the series.
The character has no lines. He tallies the donations on a chalk board at the end of the episode.
Marl Young (Conductor) was the musical director for “Here's Lucy” as well as making several on-camera appearances when the shows included live music.
Vocalists: Nancy La Mar, Rosemary O'Brien, Dave Anderson Stuart, and Marvin Robinson
The musicians and others in the park and restaurant are played by uncredited background performers.

In March 1965, Lucille Ball interviewed Andy Griffith for two installments of her CBS radio show “Let's Talk To Lucy” while he was still playing Sheriff Andy Taylor on TV.

Six Degrees of Lucy! Although none of Lucille Ball's TV incarnations ever came face to face with Sheriff Andy Taylor, they traveled in the same TV world:
In 1959, the year before Andy Taylor met Danny Williams on “Make Room for Daddy”, Danny Williams and family met Lucy Ricardo and family on a 1958 episode of “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.”
Keith Thibodeaux, who played Lucy Ricardo's son, Little Ricky, played Opie's pal Johnny Paul Jason in 13 episodes of “The Andy Griffith Show” between 1962 and 1966.
Gomer Pyle, who lived in Mayberry, joined the Marines and was spun off in his own series “Gomer Pyle USMC” when he made a brief appearance on “The Lucy Show” in 1966.
“The Andy Griffith Show” had a sequel series titled “Mayberry RFD” starring Ken Berry, a protégé of Lucille Ball's who had appeared on “The Lucy Show” in 1968.
All of these shows were filmed on the Desilu backlot (formerly RKO, later Paramount).

Don Knotts, who played Andy Griffith's bumbling sidekick Deputy Barney Fife, guest starred in “Lucy Goes on Her Last Blind Date” (S5;E6). Some other “Lucy” actors who frequently showed up in Mayberry include Hal Smith, Parley Baer, Norman Leavitt, Amzie Strickland, Dub Taylor, Stanley Farrar, Will Wright, Herbie Faye, Jonathan Hole, Byron Foulger, Tol Avery, Reta Shaw, Lurene Tuttle, Ruth McDevitt, Ruta Lee, Jay Novello, Ross Elliot, Maxine Semon, Herb Vigran, and Sid Melton.

There are some very basic similarities between “The Lucy Show” and “The Andy Griffith Show.”
Both Griffith and Ball used their own first names, which consist of four letters ending in ‘y’ and also appear in the title.
Both characters have spouses that died before the series' begins.
Both have children and faithful sidekicks.
Both started filming in black and white and eventually aired in color.
Both shows ended in early 1968 only to be re-born in the fall as newly-titled shows: “Here's Lucy” and “Mayberry RFD.”
The Christian overtones in this episode are unusual for this series. A few weeks earlier Kim jokingly said that they missed church on Sunday!

When Lucy and Andy are in the same shot together it becomes visibly clear that Lucille Ball is being filmed by a camera with a filtered lens to soften her look, while the other camera remains unfiltered. The contrast is especially noticeable when Lucy is standing next to Andy in the motel room and goes in and out of soft focus depending on which camera angle is used.

The show opens with Andy and his back-up singers performing “I'll Fly Away” by Albert E. Brumley. First published in 1932 it has been called the most recorded Gospel song of all time. Andy passes the hat for donations for his Right Path Youth Camp in Northern California – only getting thirty eight cents.

At a local restaurant, Andy Johnson tells Lucy that after he came out of the service he became a Sheriff. Lucy responds with disbelief: “A Sheriff!” Although he had left the role of Sheriff Taylor in 1969, Griffith would play him again in the 1986 TV movie “Return to Mayberry.” He would play another Sheriff on “Adams of Eagle Lake,” a 1975 police drama that lasted just two episodes on ABC. The two episodes were later issued on DVD under the titles “Deadly Game” and “Winter Kill.”
Andy tells Lucy his fiancee Alice ran off with his best man Charlie.

Dressed in her downmarket blue jeans, Kim says “What do I look like? Jackie Onassis.” Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (1929-94) was first mentioned in “Lucy Visits the White House” (TLS S1;E25) in 1963, when she was First Lady of the United States. She married Greek millionaire Aristotle Onassis in 1968.

On Bill Adams' TV show, Andy and his singers perform “I'm Gonna Write a Song” by Jerry Reed and released in 1973. They raise $464.00 for the Right Path Youth Camp – quite a step up from their initial take of thirty eight cents!

The TV camera is labeled ‘KBEX COLOR.’ KBEX were the call letters for fictional TV and radio stations. They were used in many TV shows and films, including in Desilu’s “Mannix” and “Mission: Impossible.” They were first used on “Here’s Lucy” in “Lucy Is Really in a Pickle” (S5;E15) and most recently in "Lucy, the Wealthy Widow" (S6;E4). Starting in 2005, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) started using KBEX for actual broadcast stations. Similarly, the 555 telephone exchange is used exclusively for fictional numbers seen in films and television. Here, the telethon number on the chalkboard is 555-8732.

Lucy Ricardo also meet a charity organization in a public park in “Lucy's Last Birthday” (ILL S2;E25). They were called The Friends of the Friendless.

Recycling! The exterior plaza where Andy sings in the first scene is the same one used for the gallery courtyard in “Lucy and Danny Thomas” (S6;E1). The red booth in the restaurant also makes the rounds. It has been seen many different restaurants throughout the series.
Character Consistency! Lucy says that Kim works for a talent agency. In “Kim Cuts You-Know-Whose Apron String” (S3;E24) she said she worked for a Public Relations firm.

“Lucy and Andy Griffith” rates 1 Paper Heart out of 5
This is an unusual and awkward episode – not funny or serious. The chemistry between Andy and Lucy is given short shrift in favor of Kim's suspicions about his veracity. When she allows Andy (an older, single man from out of town) to bring her to his run-down motel room things just get weird. Then he turns her over his knee and spanks her with his slipper, and things turn from weird to uncomfortable. This sort of thing might have passed for funny in 1953, but not in 1973. She leaves the room through a window (luckily they were on the first floor) after writing on the mirror in shaving cream “You are a nice man.” Huh? There's also an undertone of religion (gospel songs, mentions of 'the Lord'), something that Lucy meticulously avoided throughout her television career. The only exception to this unpleasantness is the brief scene where Lucy schools Andy in how to relax on television. This must have been something that Lucille Ball did when coaching young actors as part of the Desilu Playhouse. There are so many ways Andy Griffith could have been used on “Here's Lucy,” but this seems the least satisfactory showcase for his talents.

His music earned him good fan following and they want to know more about him. So he was interviewed several times recently...Including aninterview on StarcomRadionetwork and Blog Talk Radio. Surely you will going to read and listen more about him on media in coming days.
When X-Shai is not writing or recording, he enjoys traveling, sports, dining, outdoor activities, and reading. X-Shai takes great pride in the fact that he doesn’t smoke or drink and feels that this way of living is beneficial toward living a long, healthy, and prosperous life.
X-Shai Real is project talking about what is going on real life, where people can see you ,and judge you without knowing the real you, it’s about people acting like, they down for you but the end of the day they want your downfall, wonder why it’s easy to do negative stuffs against one another, but its hard for us to love one another. The whole world will be a better place for us all if we keep being real and forget about what the haters got to say about you and me.
Who inspires you?
