Jikook Week 25 Complete ✔️(28/05 - 04/06/2024)
Their twenty fifth week in the military is now complete and time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2017.
Tumblr media
BTS had just made a landmark win at the BMA's winning Top Social Artist (22/05) and were receiving lots of attention in the press.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TwiX Post
There first appearance after getting back from the US was a KBS news conference on 29/05. They posted on TwiX beforehand.
Tumblr media
Watching the news conference I realized that the SK press has never made it easy on BTS. There was only cursory mention of their win and a huge emphasis on their responsibility as role models for youth and ambassadors for South Korea.
It's just all a bit too much and I don't remember anyone talking to One Direction or Take That in quite the same way. The only other similar example is possibly the Beatles who did get quite a bit of the establishment press looking down the nose at them in interviews. No wonder Joonie got so fed up after dealing with it for so many years and we are blessed with Groin (I'm using any excuse to post about RPWP at the moment) as a result.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the press conference they headed to the airport. Jimin is so striking in this outfit. Shame JK's good looks were hidden behind that mask. They were off to play three nights at the Osaka Jo-Hall, Japan (30/05, 31/05 & 01/06) as part of the Wings Tour.

The Osaka concerts come at the beginning of this Memories of 2017 video between 0.00 & 10:35 mins. What comes over is how cohesive they are as a team and how much affection there is between them all. Look at jinhopekook all glued together after the show. Whose hands are resting on JK's shoulders? I think you know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally it was FESTA 2017. There was a gift for ARMY every day from 01/06 to the 14/06.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of those gifts was JK & Jimin's version of We don't talk anymore which was released on 03/06. I love this version of the song.

There was also this rather chaotic exclusive fan cam on the 04/06.

Oh to have been around when all this stuff was dropping. I have festa envy. I'm looking forward to some new music on the 07/06.

💬 News 1: Highlights from Hanbok Interview
Tumblr media
She is an emerging talent to watch. Park Gyuyoung (25) made a name for herself as the web designer 'Somi' at Seowon Architectural Firm in JTBC's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Just Between Lovers'. Perhaps because of the role, any premature speculation that she might be a 'snob' changes with just one bright smile. She is an actor with a positive and bright energy that 'disarms' viewers and a 'unique' charm.
Park Gyuyoung left her hometown Busan and started living in Seoul when she entered the Department of Clothing and Textiles at Yonsei University in 2013. A college magazine (University Tomorrow) cover photoshoot she did by chance during her university days led to her current agency, JYP Entertainment, where she spent time as a trainee and debuted in 2017.
Although 'Just Between Lovers' is her first long drama, she has shown growing performances by appearing in the 2017 KBS drama special 'Kang DeokSoon's Love History, JTBC's 'Solomon's Perjury', and the web drama 'Magic School'. This year, she is also gaining attention as an emerging talent on the screen with two movies, 'Monsters' and 'Wrestler', set to be released.
Q. Are you going to Busan to see your parents for the Lunar New Year this year? It must feel like a triumphant return.
“I am going to Busan. It’s not exactly a triumphant return, but my family is still amazed (that I’ve become an actress), so they will probably ask me a lot of questions. I’m already feeling shy about it.”
Q. You had a busy year in 2017 with dramas and movies. Wasn't it tough?
“I tried not to think of it as being tough or busy. I just thought I had to work even harder. Then, looking back, I realized I was in a lot of productions in 2017. Still, I feel like I’ve accomplished something.”
Q. Being an alumna of a foreign language high school (Busan Foreign Language High School) and a prestigious university (Yonsei University) often makes headlines with descriptors like "Mum’s Friend’s Daughter." How do you feel about such labels?
“It’s totally, extremely embarrassing. I wasn’t exceptionally good at studying; I was just lucky with exams. So, it’s really embarrassing when I receive such compliments. At school, I was just a normal student who enjoyed hanging out with friends.”
Q. How did you start acting, which is unrelated to your major?
“I had a photoshoot for 'University Tomorrow' magazine. The company (JYP Entertainment) contacted me after seeing it. At first, I was half curious, but as I started to learn acting more seriously, I became more earnest about it. Once I actually went to the field, it was fun, but I realized there was so much to study and contemplate. There were difficult times, too. Studying acting made me think a lot.”
Q. There must have been a lot of other things to worry about besides acting.
“Thinking about always having to manage myself? I was a bit on the chubby side, so I worked out hard. I’m still doing Pilates now.”
Q. How will 'Just Between Lovers' be remembered?
“It’s my first long-duration drama, almost like it was from the beginning to the end. The set was so warm, which was great. The character Somi might have seemed annoying at times, but I'm glad I could show her lively side, leaving me with good memories.”
Q. It seems like Junho from 2PM, a senior at your agency, would have been a big support during 'Just Between Lovers'.
"When I became a JYP trainee I got the chance to see 2PM (*she may be referring to a concert) and it was truly fascinating. I used to gaze at 2PM thinking, 'Wow, celebrities,' and it was so surreal to act alongside Junho, a member of 2PM. He was really kind on set, and I was thankful for that. He treated me comfortably as if we had known each other for years."
Q. What did you learn from 'Just Between Lovers'?
"I learned a lot about the technical aspects of acting, but what remains in my memory is thinking about what kind of senior I want to become. There were many seniors in this work, so I was very nervous, but they treated me very comfortably. I was very grateful for that, and it made me want to be such a senior as well."
Q. Do you have a role model?
"I'm diligently watching 'Misty'. The charisma of senior Kim Namjoo is tremendous. I'm learning a lot. Also, senior Go Hyunjung in 'Return' is cool. I like that she has her own colour and her presence is amazing. It's fascinating and attractive how she shows different charms in each work."
Q. Is there a genre you're interested in?
"I'm very interested in action. I'm curious about how to prepare for action scenes, like practising movements and studying complex staging. I think it would feel rewarding and joyful to actually do it."
Q. What is actress Park Gyuyoung's weapon?
"I've played a lot of characters with a bright personality so far. However, I'm also sensitive and delicate. I can do well in roles that require a calm acting tone. (Laughs)"
Q. What are your plans for 2018?
"Rather than having specific things I want to do, in 2017, I was just starting to make my presence known from a state of obscurity. This year, I hope to appear in even more works than before."

Jinx Friendship
summary: basically amanda friendship w/ my other ocs bc why not?
masterlist
taglist: @skzfairies, @3nhyp3nn [send an ask if you want to be on/off the taglist :)]
Tumblr media
Jinx is a friendship group consisting of 3 fictional female 00 liners from different co-ed kpop groups; TXT’s Yuki, ATEEZ’s Amanda, and SEVENTEEN’s Vivi
Tumblr media
TXT’s Yuki
Tumblr media
Contact Name: Yukz🌚🐱
she first met yuki at hanlim after amanda transfer in 2017
the two were seatmates so they were literally inseparable in school
often have sleepovers at the each other dorms when they were trainees under the excuse of doing “homework”
due to busy schedules the two don’t get to meet up often
but the two are always keep in touch and even mention the other in interviews and livestreams
they give yeonjun and wooyoung a run for their money tbh
now when they do meet up they usually go on food dates mostly bc amanda is making sure yuki is eating and taking care of herself
similar personalities, food taste, etc.
moatiny calls them soulmates for how alike the two are
iconic moment: amanda has mention that neither of them initiate physical touch so the first time they actually hugged each other was backstage at kcon 2019 after not seeing each other in a long time. both said that the hug was sweet but it was really awkward after bc they realize they never had hugged before
Tumblr media
SVT’s Vivi
Tumblr media
Contact Name: Viz🌝💦
vivi has been friends w/ yuki for years after meeting her through their friends in i.o.i
yuki was constantly telling amanda that she should met vivi bc she thought they would get along
and ofc amanda wanted to bc she loves svt and especially vivi but everytime they tried to, plans always fall through
but two eventually met w/o yuki's help as vivi played a little role in helping amanda and jeonghan finally get together 👀
they later texted a pic of them together to yuki
tan duo
one looking like a softie and the other looking mean when it's actually the opposite
vivi always invites amanda to go see haunted houses, scary movies, etc.
each other safe place as they both understand the harsh criticism for not fitting into korean beauty standards
iconic moment: when amanda called vivi to wish her happy birthday but she didn't know vivi was on vlive and said "happy birthday bitch!" the second vivi picked up
Tumblr media
The Trio Overall
friendship name came about as all the girls had been called jinx by many kneitzen bc they were thought to bring bad luck/ruin their groups for being the only girl member
it hard for the trio to meet up due to hectic schedules but when they do they usually go out for drinks
basically alcoholics
venting to each about the struggles of being the only girl in their groups
constant innuendos and cursing at each other
convo usually end up w/ them mixing between languages (korean, english and spanish) and they don’t even realize they are doing it bc it’s so normal for them
vivi always reminding the two she their sunbaenim even though she the youngest of them
going to each other concerts
you know girls supporting girls
they became a such popular friendship group in the kpop industry that they were invited to perform a special stage at the 2020 kbs song festival where they performed a melody of kpop gg songs
and even later debuted as a group in 2021
Their Role in the Group
Yuki - The Chaotic 4D Yet Responsible Mom
Amanda - The Blunt Sarcastic Dad
Vivi - The Bubbly Rebel Baby

Jikook Week 26 Complete ✔️(04/06 - 11/06/2024)
Their twenty sixth week in the military is now complete and time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2018.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Festa 2018 opened on the 04/06 with the release of the Brit Rock Remix of Spring Day & the Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix) on Spotify.
On the same day BTS appeared on the SBS news and this interview was decidedly more friendly than the one with KBS in June 2017. The interviewer even breaks into a rhapsody about JK's talents which has JK AND Jimin (that's his baby you are talking about) thanking him for his appreciation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the 06/06 BTS released the GDA 2018 Dance Practice, as part of Festa 2018, with a set of DNA and Not Today. The synchronization and precision of the moves and the energy of their performance are unparalleled.
youtube
Every time I discover a new dance practice from the archive I am blown away by the intricacy of their choreography and how they truly work together as a team with each one giving 110%.
Tumblr media
BTS were promoting Fake Love and the 07/06 marked another music show win. Overall Fake Love had 12 wins during its promo period.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also did a fan sign event. Look at these two cuties.
Tumblr media
Jikook posted about their 11th win at Music Core on 09/06/2018.
Tumblr media
And on 10th June 2018, the day of their last music show win for Fake Love, all hell broke loose when Jimin posted this Jikook selca. It was ostensibly a tweet thanking ARMY for their support and he posts this. I think we should be thanking you Jimin. Let's face it, it was a statement. 2018, ladies and gentlemen, wild wild jikook times.

Traces: Serendipity
Yes, Serendipity is Jimin's song and a cute Ji/kook thing.
In case someone got lost and came over to this post, this is a JINKOOK tumblr :) Pls read at your own discretion.
Additionally, this tidbit contains a bit of the jealous partner trope so feel free to disregard if you don't think this is the case.
That famous line 'You are me, I am you' - Intro: Serendipity, LY: Her (2017)
Japan Dome Tour interview (2018)
Tumblr media
Jk was holding out his finger even before Jimin started talking about the song so in total Jk actually played this inside joke with Jimin twice during the interview.
There's a 'subtle' difference in the way Jin and RM laughed. Can you tell?
Jin's subsequent reactions
Tumblr media
(not including the major eye roll at the end because we're keeping it classy)
Tae glancing at Jin multiple times after the moment
Tumblr media
Jk and Jimin have played this inside joke many times since Serendipity was released.
Fans might enjoy and find it cute but I guess not everyone does.
Magic Shop in Seoul (2019)
After Jin spoke about gaining confidence and handsomeness from Army's love, Jk teasingly said Jin became shameless. He could say so because both of them:
Tumblr media
(btw Jin didn't sing it right. "I am me~"....Jk "You're me~")
Jimin commented, "No, why is my song over there...being used in a weird way?" (I agree.)
Tumblr media
Tokopedia (2020)
Jk sang 'You're me~' and Jimin answered 'I'm you~' when Jk got Jimin's question right.
Tumblr media
When Jin got Jk's question right at lightning speed, they tried to play the same joke (Jk held out his arm and was waiting for Jin).
Tumblr media
(Jin, "You are you~" ... as expected, it remains Jikook's thing😂)
Let's BTS (2021)
Jimin wrote to Jk the things he wanted to hear from Jk, which was "I always copy you."
Tumblr media
It's like another version of "I'm you, you're me".
KBS edited in a replay to show the other members' reactions and the 3 members shown all glanced at Jin.
Tumblr media
Map the direction of RM, V and Suga's gazes.
Tumblr media
Jin was maybe a little affected by Jimin's claims because
"Jungkook, show them your skill!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I choose you Pikachu.)
(hmph. He listens to me.)

We have discussed about jikook and taemin already
But I don't know if we have discussed this moment
https://youtu.be/DpfYAI_ADmQ
Jk was absolutely not happy to see him again there.
It happend In 2018 , fake luv era by the tym I think most of jikook immature stage was beginning to over. They were entering a new phase. But still taemin made jk lose his coolness.
https://youtu.be/6lwm0q10jbw
Here also , he enjoyed the performance well as all other members but after taemin made appearance , jm laughed , jk turned to jm to watch his reaction.
I think whatever these 3 had experienced in the end of 2016 maybe little more influential for jk to lose his coolness even in 2018.
But anyway , whatever happend they worked it out in the end and jikook goes on lmao
You beat me to it anon, lol. This interview at Music bank on 1st June 2018 was first thing I tackle in part 4 of my 2018 timeline (not yet posted). So, I will talk about it a bit here too.
1 June 2018 interview in Music Bank - Yes, in my opinion you are correct in a way anon, and once again we get to see just how much JK is not a fan of Taemin, or more so JM’s interactions with him per say.
JK who is usually super attentive to JM, making an effort to face him when he speaks. Not only doesn’t he do that during this interview, he averts his head, much like he did during 4 July 2015 fanmeet with RM & JM. Only here it doesn’t feel as angry as it was in the 2015 incident. It’s more like an uneasiness and a choice not to look, not to see.
At some point he turns to look at JM when he talks, but then JM turns to Taemin with a finger heart, JK immediately looks away, unhappy look on his face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t get the same vibe as the 2015 incident, or even as the Dec 2016 one (post JM’s dance with Taemin). I think they are past that phase in the relationship. It’s not insecurity, it’s more uneasiness. In 2015 it was bigger than him, so much so that it affected his professionalism. Not here. Here he is super professional. Speaking on queue. Smiling when he talks. But milliseconds after his face goes blank. He's dealing with something, something that is bothering him, but not letting it affect his performance.
I think JK is secure within their relationship at this stage. He knows how JM feels about him, unlike in 2015 or even 2016 when the relationship was in it’s diapers. In 2018 the boys are secure within the relationship. This all comes after their Tokyo trip, Serendipity & GCFT. They both know what they feel for each other and what the other feels for them. That still doesn’t mean there won’t be little moments of insecurity, doubt, jealously (not a possessive toxic jealousy), uneasiness.
This isn't the first time we see JK's reaction to Taemin, or more so, his reaction to JM's interacting with Taemin.
August 2017 KBS Music bank Singapore is an example to that. Again, we see the way he turns around the minute JM and Taemin interact, and the discontent look on his face. He glancing in the direction a couple of times, but he is mostly turned away from them.   And when JM runs up to slap Taemin in the butt, JK sees this, averts his head, and just keeps walking off the stage.  He is clearly upset. Besides the obvious faces he makes, not waiting for Jimin when walking off stage is not something he usually does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The feel I get is that JK just doesn't like the man. I don't know why this is, but that's the vibe I get.
Anon's links: Link 1; Link 2
As for the Taemin & Sunmi collab clip, now, here I'm not 100% sure the reaction was to Taemin. JK's reaction seems to be more to being left out of the interaction between Hobi and JM. Continue to watch the clip (again the both performing together) and you don't get that reaction at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me JK's 2018 behaviour is him practicing avoidance. Don't look, don't see. JM interacting with Taemin, look away, walk away, avoid.

Note
just some thoughts without pretending to be the truth. i have a feeling like inn 2017-18 there was some weird (but not bad) tension between vmin. like jm was getting to know himself and tae was.. observing? idk. the way they glared at e/o and touched was sometimes too intimate and jm went totally shy. but know smth kinda changed and i wonder what is it now? bois are getting older? and some moments in LGO tae doesn't look at jm i guess. like it's him shy now. AMA live is where he looks past him
Okay before I get into it I’d like to ask three questions, not necessarily directed at the person who sent in this ask but rather more into a general discussion round:
what is the sort of behavioral pattern that a ship needs to fulfill in order for people to think “oh, they might be into each other” and “oh, I think X ship is in love”, that sort of thing? Is it loud, almost over the top behavior taken straight out of the older generation Idol handbook? Is it constant physical contact, constant affection through double-meaning dialogues?
if vmin were to exhibit such behavior, show us lots and lots of affectionate interactions on camera in nearly every piece of content we have, tell each other every chance they get that they love each other when the cameras are rolling, would that make them seem more real, or would that cheapen the ship and only lead people to say “vmin is fan service and there’s no chance they are actually real”?
if we agree on the hypothesis that vmin might by now be in a relationship of a few years, and they are both 25 years old, so grown men at the height of their careers, do you really think they would feel the need to showcase their relationship and legitimate romantic feelings to each other in front of the camera? Would they really want to allow millions of people (some with good attitudes and respect, many though without respect and only hate on their tongues) into their relationship?
These are the sort of things I think about and I’m always curious to know what others think and how things would be like if vmin were to behave like certain others, if those who doubt them would stop, or only see it as more of a reason to doubt.
In any case, to a certain extent I agree with the person who sent in this question, that yes vmin’s on camera behavior has changed, that while in 2017/18 it was more Jimin who was shy, it’s now Tae who appears shy more often. But, I don’t see that as bad or negative or sign of things not going well. At all. Since last year I feel like Tae’s attitude toward being an idol and everything that entails has changed a bit, as did his mentality especially after he went through burn out and generally had a hard time in the first few months of 2020. But that I think had nothing to do with Jimin. I think their relationship, however you’d define it, was fine for most of it, and I think after so many years of knowing each other (it’ll be nine this year) and being close friends and perhaps more, they know each other, inside and out, and know how to act in certain situations and depending on how the other is feeling.
But while there have certainly been instances in 2020 where Tae appeared shy when interacting with Jimin, there have also been moments where he didn’t. Take for instance their interview where they spoke about all their albums. Once they got to Wings and BS&T, Tae spoke about how he remembers Jimin’s charisma and how tempting he came across in it. Or the interview filmed in that little corner at a diner or something where Jimin was supposed to say which moment in Dynamite is his favorite where Tae touched his shoulder and Jimin basically completely blanked for a moment before smiling, giggling, and saying that his favorite part was Tae’s. Or that one interview where they sat next to each other talking about Dynamite and then all of a sudden they were holding hands for almost the rest of the interview. Or Tae cupping Jimin’s hand during a photoshoot which we saw in the behind the scenes glimpses from when they were filming the Baskin’ Robbins ads.
More below the cut since this kind of turned out a little longer than anticipated, I hope you don’t mind, anon:
I think a big deciding factor in how vmin behave with each other and how they come across on camera is where they are, as well as most certainly how they are feeling on that day. Tae said himself that on days where he’s feeling good, going to work and doing what they do is fun and he has no problem with it, yet when he’s not feeling well, it’s hard and he has to push himself more to do things. Besides, there is definitely a distinction between how vmin behave when they know a camera is watching, and when there isn’t one. It even shows in something as silly as, remember MOTS ON:E day 2 at the end of Hobi’s performance of EGO when the members join him? Vmin are dancing with each other, standing facing each other with Jimin doing some kind of almost like “I’m performing magic on you” hand gesture toward Tae BUT the second he realizes the cameras are on him, Jimin straightens up and pretends like that didn’t just happen and no one saw anything. Or their side hug on day 1 and silly dance during day 2 during Dionysus, that, too, was something not visible on the main cam, just a side one which they knew would not be available during the replay, so less people would see it. Or even that famous moment of them holding hands on the airport on Tae’s birthday in 2019 on the way to NYC after going up the stairs. They thought no one could see, so they held hands like it’s the most natural and normal thing for them to do because that’s just how they are.
On the other hand, a performance where I agree with the anon that sent the question is that during BangBangCon in June when they performed Friends. Admin 2 already back then told me how you could see how both of them, but especially Tae, were shy during that performance. Jimin in his March vlive talking about Friends said that Friends is a meaningful song for him and that it will be an emotional moment in and of itself if they one day get to perform it together on stage, and you could truly see that. They both seemed somewhat nervous, shy, and a little unsure in some of their movements, but it also showed a glimpse at their dynamic, how it was Jimin who hugged Tae from the back, who opened his hand to lace their fingers together and hold it, almost like that dynamic of “I’m large but he’s in charge”, you know? Why is that? Because not only must it have been meaningful to them to perform together in such a way, but also Friends is a deeply personal song to them, probably more than any of us truly understand. (song analysis by Admin 1) But, at the same time, Tae has no issue with being brave online, as in to go on Wevserse and proclaim that 95z is love, or like today, go and post seven pictures out of which three were of Jimin (4 if you also take into account the one with the mirrors) or to make Jimin’s birthday the password while playing games with ARMY. Perhaps the difference is that on Weverse, Tae is in total control of the situation, it’s a place where no editor will cut the scene or edit it, but whatever he’ll say and post, that will be exactly how it is. Of course people can misconstrue his words, but that’s something no one has any control over ever, and thus not the point.
The way I see it, sometimes they allow themselves to be silly together, to show each other affection and do more cute things, like Tae going to Jimin’s room in ITS and rolling over him, giggling and just being silly and then sitting next to him and caressing Jimin’s back since he was sick. Or Jimin waking up and limping outside to see where Tae is and ask if he’s all right that morning. But in the grand scheme of things BTS have so little privacy, so few things that are truly just theirs and not something they share with us, so they guard the small things precious to them from prying eyes and treasure it. And that’s the case for their relationship, regardless of how you want to see it, as well. It’s theirs, not ours. We’re just privileged enough to catch glimpses of it sometimes.
Like remember on the day they had their interview at KBS in the summer due to their BBH100 #1 where the TV station even showed their arrival? Remember how Tae and Jimin first shared their hand sanitizer, since Jimin used too much of it, and later on when they walked next to each other, first they looked at each other, like a silent question passing between them of “are we doing this?” and concluded that yes. Which was followed by them holding hands and Jimin even raising their hands together toward the camera with an almost a little challenging looking in his eyes, like he wanted to show that they belong together in such a public manner. Tae looked a little shy in that moment as well, but he agreed to do it anyway, so his shyness doesn’t necessarily have to be connected to Jimin, per se, but more the situation they are in and who’s watching them.
Also, a final thing that always fascinates me is how, when other members don’t show their affection in every piece of content we get, no one questions their love for each other, no one questions if X is real even if those two don’t interact all too much for a while, people still think they’re close and whatnot, as example. And yet when vmin don’t interact in every interview and every other piece of content we get, immediately the questions begin if they are still close, if they are still together, if they’ve had a fight or if they broke up. And if they do show affection, it’s immediately equated to “it’s just bros being bros”.
Ask yourself: is an interview about their new song or album really the right place for “ship” moments? Is every performance the right place for it? And what if on that particular day one or the other or both simply weren’t feeling well? Or what if they simply hugged or whatnot before the performance and thus felt no need for a repeat on stage? They are professionals, they are musicians, and if we do get absolutely adorable moments like Tae taking a piece of confetti out of Jimin’s hair during their duet moment in LGO, that’s a precious gift, and not something we should demand/expect seeing every time. Would those moments still feel as special as they do now if we got the every time?
