Perry Cain All The Way From Texas (1948)

'Perry Cain was born in New Waverly, Tx. in 1929. He had a brief career as a blues singer in the late 1940's and early 1950's. In 1948 he recorded two songs for Gold Star (these also marked the debut recordings for pianist Buster Pickens, pictured in the clip). Later in the year he recorded two more songs for Freedom. In 1949 and 1950 he was the featured lead vocalist for Henry Hayes' Orchestra, with recorded sides coming out on Sittin' In With and Jade. Cain soon left the recording microphone for a radio D.J. microphone landing an announcer job for KCOH-AM, the first African-American owned radio station in Houston. His over-the-air handle there was "Daddy Deep Throat". (This was decades before the Linda Lovelace porn movie and Watergate, folks). It is not known what became of Perry Cain after that. Tamisha Akbar Youngblood (April 17, 1970) known professionally as Tami Roman, is a television personality, model, businesswoman, author, designer, and actress. She first gained fame in The Real World: Los Angeles. She became one of the breakout stars of Basketball Wives.

She formed her R&B girl group quartet called Reality. She was one of the members and the rapper of the group. The name of the song was “Prisoner Of Your Love,” but the song was never recorded. She changed the group’s name from Reality to Female. The group was offered the opportunity to join other African American women groups in recording “Freedom” for the motion picture soundtrack album, Panther.

She appeared as the dealer on the 2001 revival of Card Sharks and several other shows, including an episode of One on One and “The Parkers”, as Dina. She was cast on the Basketball Wives spinoff Basketball Wives LA, starting with the fourth season in 2015. She appeared on two episodes of Extant. She could be heard on Tami Roman’s Love Talk & Hot Jamz. The show aired on Houston’s KCOH Radio. She and her boyfriend Reggie Youngblood appeared on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars for its third season. She currently costars on the Ms. Pat Show. She is a principal actress in The Family Business. She co-starring on Haus of Vivious.

She is working on her hair and cosmetic lines. She released a series of videos titled “Bonnet Chronicles” on Instagram, it was produced into a scripted series on TIDAL in 2018. She co-authored the book Mistress 101. She has added footwear designer to her resume as she paired up with stylist to the stars and shoe designer Jessica Rich to bring fans their Spring 2019 women’s footwear collection.

She married NBA player Kenny Anderson (1993-2001) and together they had two daughters. She married retired NFL player Reggie Youngblood (2018). #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
