Long arse OC name post ahoy: Keahi Shepard- Keahi is a plant native to Hawaii, Tubuai and Cook Islands. It has distinctly red stems. Keahi also means flames/fire. Keahi's mum Rita took one look at their impressive crop of red curls they were born with and chose the name. I believe I found it by searching for plants native to Hawaii, looking for possible name inspo that would fit the background I was forming for this Shepard (Rita being Hawaiin & kiwi and a botanist). The dual meaning of flames and having already given Keahi red hair, just fit so nicely. It is also used as a given name and is gender neutral. Blaise Shepard- Blaise is a name i've always liked anyway and it provided a perfect ongoing Shepard flames theme.

Pavan Shepard (Blaises' drell dad) I started just trying to think of drell sounding words, then checking they didn't have any unintentional meanings (always check your "made up" words is a good rule of life). Pavan is a given name in India, another name for the Hindu god Vayu, god of wind, and an asteroid. That all fit nicely. Mina Krios- Feron and Kolyat's child. Another name I thought could sound drellish, rolled off the tongue nicely and just sounded good. Mina is actually named after Feron's ship Mina, a name he gave it after a flower which had similar purple-silver hues to it's hull. Mina was the first place Feron ever felt like a true safe home, even moreso once Kolyat moved in and it was their home and workbase. Mina came to mean heart and home to Feron and Kolyat. Mina the ship was tragically destroyed in the war shortly before baby Mina was born. Kolyat suggested naming them for the place that meant so much and Feron had a good cry and agreed it was perfect (i'm sappy).

the Otherworldly Companion (OC) masterpost

(aka "who the fuck are these people you're tagging")

Nuadha is what's commonly called the "Dark Urge", but with some modifications. She is an avatar of a largely-forgotten god (in this part of Toril, anyway) who ran afoul of both Bhaal and his Chosen. She travels Faerûn in the company of future Hero of Baldur's Gate Wyll Ravengard searching for a cure to a mindflayer affliction and a reunion with the sundered fragments of her Self.

Dayir and Ishan are my Eorzean Warriors of Varying Luminosity, as it were, and there's a lil about post about them here. Sesshai is their tricksy Viera bestie that I don't talk about nearly enough, for some reason.

Noah Kingfisher is the Sole Survivor of Vault 111; Gabriel the Revelator is the Lone Wanderer; and Gideon of the Grave is Courier Six. Noah is a literal child of Atom, and Gabriel is the next-closest thing, being genetically manipulated by Atom in utero. Noah also exists in Halcyon and Far Cry 5's Montana (along with Preston Garvey).

Anansi Surana is both the Grey Warden that ends the Blights once and for all, and the Herald of [???] (Razikale, but no one knows that) that lays the groundwork for a new world. he's also a First Enchanter for a while. he gets around, you could say. Elijah Wolf (or, Elijah Hawk-child, for much of DA2) is Lord Protector of Kirkwall but that doesn't stop him or his seneschal Varric Tethras from gallivanting off to Skyhold. I don't play in the Dragon Age space much anymore, unfortunately, so don't expect much about these guys unless they respawn in another universe (which is highly possible). or unless I play DA4. which is also possible.

Adrian Shepard is Commander of the SSV Normandy and the scourge of the Reapers. until he becomes something bigger than the Reapers. good thing he's on our side.

Claudio V Invictus is the Saint of Saints and the CEO of Saintscorp. he is the owner of every single pair of the booty shorts in those "shorts that say [x] on the ass" memes.

there are others -- Keahi the Watcher of Caed Nua, Llovyn Arendur of Skyrim, Ananduil and Venanduil of Azeroth, loads more Thedosians, etc -- but they don't have populated tags yet because they simply haven't come up nearly as often.

What OC has/is a mentor?

I'm not sure this applies to any of them, not in any long-term sense. like, Keahi had an older priest mentor em when ey were young, and Anansi Surana had the Circle enchanters, etc etc... but that's just standard, I guess. nothing I'd write home about. (or should I say, nothing I'd write smutty mentor/student fic about... bwahaha)

What OC has a huge group of friends?

I think that honour goes to Dayir and Ishan, simply because they're so well-connected and know quite so many people across multiple landmasses on two different planets, lmao. and yeah, most of them are friends.

What OC has, like, one friend?

so, which one of them is more of a loner type? Gabriel, lmao. it's really hard for people to find points of connection with Gabriel because he intentionally makes it difficult. befriending Gabriel is the Dark Souls of bonding

What OC really needs the Mom Friend around?

Ishan is pretty bad at taking care of himself without external motivation. so is Adrian Shepard. I'm assuming a lot off the top of my head about what "Mom Friend" means because I've never actually used this term, lol. (the fuck do I know about moms?)

What is your favorite romantic relationship between your OCs?

oh, that's really unfair. I think aside from Noah/Preston (my previous gold standard when it came to relationships, before Dayir happened), I'd have to pick a Dayir relationship, because I just love Dayir's dynamic with everyone. except I have no idea which relationship I'd choose. so I guess we'll stick with Noah/Preston for now

Which OCs complement each other the best?

I literally wrote Ishan and Dayir to complement each other, that's their whole thing lol. I'd also say Noah and Gideon and Gabriel, who are just three sides of one die.

Which OCs don’t know each other, but would hate each other if they did?

nope, can't say this would ever happen, lmao. not to be boring but all my OCs would love each other. maybe not right away, and maybe it'd be a bit of a trial (*looks at Gabriel*) but they've all just got far too much in common to really be opposed to each other (and none of them are that disconnected from themselves that they'd hate the bits of themselves that they find in others or whatever the platitude is)

What’s the strangest way two (or more) OCs have met?

I'm drawing the hugest blank for this one. maybe how Talan and Dayir met, which was basically in todash space?

Which OCs have fought with each other the most?

Gideon and Gabriel, I guess, because Gabriel's a fighty type.

okay, so after #25 or so the questions are specifically for one OC, so I guess I'll just choose one myself. and considering how difficult this question is when all your characters are poly, I'll go with Noah who has a far more simplified number of partners (for now) lol

Noah Kingfisher met his pre-War wife Zora at a bar where he literally ran into her and spilled her drink. he met Preston Garvey when he wandered into the ruins of Concord shortly after being de-popsicled, and Preston Garvey took one gay look at him and thought, "*chuckles* I'm in danger". he met High Rise by working for the Railroad. he met Ulysses when he and Gabriel dragged themselves into the Commonwealth with the skull of Ulysses' dead mailman lover in tow. (idk, Gabriel likes keeping people's skulls. let him live)

Does OC have siblings? Do they get along if they do? Do they wish they had some if they don’t?

Noah was Marie Kingfisher's only child, but certainly not Atom's. he didn't learn about Gabriel and Sam Toren until way later, but of course as a bighearted boy who never had siblings, he latched onto them immediately. .....annnnd both of them immediately tried to run away, lmfao. but over time they become inseparable -- quietly but surely, it happens. and it's their greatest shield against their father.

How has OC been affected by their family relationships?

ha! I mean... well, his relationship with his mother (and grandmother) was probably the best thing to happen to a child like him -- to be loved unconditionally, despite how (and by whom) he'd been sired? it's a blessing, truly. it really set the tone for his life. he treats the people he chooses for his family with that same unconditional fondness, that same "I'll always keep the light on for you" vibe. no matter what sheer madness happens to Sam and Gabriel (or Preston, or Ulysses), he'll always be there for them.

his relationship with Atom is extremely fraught because while logically he knows he should hate Atom, he can't. it's just not in his nature. he wishes Atom were anything else but an interdimensional eldritch agent of chaos because those are really hard to win over with love and friendship

How does OC meet most people?

pre-War, he met people through his community or through his job. the standard boring ways of meeting people, you know. in the Commonwealth, he usually meets people by coming to their aid in some way -- by helping a settlement, or doing a job for a faction, or whatever. after a while, he's well-known enough that he wishes he could meet less people sometimes, lmao. man needs a break

Have They

Passed University: Joined the Alliance straight out of school, has done many certifications via that.

Had sex: Before Thane, only two partners and brief relationships with a handful of sexual occasions. With Thane, a lot.

Had sex in public: No and absolutely zero interest in trying

Gotten tattoos: Yes. One is a periwinkle over a pentagon, a favourite flower and a nod to Thane. (I figure tattoo removal is much more doable by this point and Keahi is a sappy romantic anyway).

Gotten piercings: yes, muliple. The infiltration track allowed for slightly more lenient dress code in the alliance so they had some ear piercings, although they often closed over and had to be redone. From ME2 onward, multiple piercings including labret and nose.

Had a broken heart: Sort of. (i'm still working out these backstories so the details are a little bare here). Their two previous relationships were both with people they had strong, significant connections with but both were simply not sustainable. Relationship one was a fellow soldier, work, youth and distance made them decide to end things amicably. He later died in duty, Keahi still mourns him. Their second relationship was with a female turian (get him very drunk and they will admit they 'climbed her like a tree' at a good foot taller than him) again met via work and she wasn't looking for a commitment due to work ambitions, a mutual split but was very sad to end things at the time.

Been in love: Thane, the great love of their life, their soulmate, all the cliches. Thane lives because I am soft and they need to grow old and wrinkly together.

Are They

A cuddler: So cuddly with those they are close to. Minimal bodily contact until that closeness is formed though

Scared easily: Not easily. Keahi is a very chill, level headed person. Until they aren't and then it's nuclear time, all the feels.

Jealous easily: Not especially.

Trustworthy: Ridiculously reliable. I think Keahi is one of those people that could be extremely good at lying and manipulation if they have to and truly believe it's necessary, but would never want to and is a last resort, so if you are putting faith in them there's a 99% chance that faith is extremely well placed.

Family

Siblings: None, but was extremely close to other kids on Mindoir :(

Parents: Mum- Dr. Rita Shepard, Agriculturist. She was head of agricultural sustainability and planning on Mindoir, with specialisations in conservation and zenobotany. She made sure any food production didn't cause ecological problems and was sustainable both for the population and the planet. She named Keahi after the plant of the same name which has red stems, and to honour her Hawaiin mother. Dad- Winston Maynard, primary school teacher. Winston was one of those heart of the community types, a smiley, fun, loving man who idolised his 'big brained beautiul' wife and who was every kids favourite teacher.

Rita and Winston:

Children: Keahi loves kids and has always had a 'if it happens it happens and if not that's ok' attitude to having children of their own, knowing their work is not exactly child friendly. Once settled with Thane, Keahi is very happy taking on a step parent role to Kolyat (once Kolyat warms up to them and wants that too) and Feron. Most drell live in tight knit multi generational family units (Thane and Irikah were outliers there) and post reapers, Keahi and Thane live with Kolyat and Feron and very happily and readily help with raising and doting on grandchild Mina.

Pets: The aquarium is converted into a vivarium and home to some space geckos

I am a fan since:Legendary Edition release (better late than never!)

Favourite game of the series?:2 wins overall, due to how much I loved learning about the new companions and all their little side quests and the excitement of prepping for the big mission. 3 has the best overall mechanics though, and the npc’s being able to banter is top notch.

MShep or FShep?: Both, but I tend to create themsheps anyway.

Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?:Keahi is a colonist, Blaise a spacer AU. I think all the backgrounds have juicy potential but find the idea of growing up out there in this big new galaxy exciting. 

Biotics or Tech:Probably tech for my sheps, but I love having a biotic in the squad as backup. I’ll usually have 1 biotic ability as my Shep’s bonus and chalk it up to funky side effects of how they resurrected Shep in 2.

Paragon or Renegade:Generally paragon but some renegade interrupts.

Favourite Class:Infilitrator. Sniper Rifles are always my fave (or archers in fantasy games).

Favourite Companion: Such a tough question. As there’s a romance question later, i’ll save Thane for then. I’m also going to answer as me rather than who my shep’s would pick. I think Mordin is honestly the companion I got most excited about going to chat with or hearing unique lines from. And while not ‘companions’, I have such soft spots for Traynor and Cortez and consider them honourary squaddies.

Least favourite Companion:I mean there are plenty who I think have questionable morals/ideas/attitudes, but it doesn’t make me dislike them, it makes them interesting and gives fresh perspectives, so this is also a tough question. I feel bad for saying it, but I guess Liara? Only in that she gets so much priority in 1 and 3 but I don’t find her as interesting to chat with compared to others and also found her going from nerdy excitable anxious dork in 1 to ‘flay your mind’ corpo bad bitch in 2 gave me whiplash. The fact she sold shep’s body is another point deducted. And the way she let Shepard drop like hot shit in shadowbroker too, oof. I really don’t dislike her though and still find her overall character interesting.

My squad selection:I change it up a lot so I get to hear all the different things they have to say

Favourite In-game romance:Thane, followed by Steve Cortez and Samantha Traynor. Is anyone surprised?!

Other pairings I like:Feron x Kolyat, Thane X Cortez (why romance them separately when I can put them together instead!) Femshep x Miranda. I tend to headcanon my shep’s as older than the in game age so Jack feels too young for them, but I do love the Jack romance generally. 

Favourite NPC:That one completely chill smoking salarian in the citadel DLC. Dandenbo’s icon always makes me grin reminding me of him. Also the salarian Thane rescued who had his whole world rocked and wrote an email about it. You go you funky little horny guy.

Favourite Antagonist:TIM is interesting because you get that having to work together and resenting the hell out of it aspect in 2. And look he’s by no means an effective antagonist, but Donovan Hock is objectively very funny.

Favourite Mission:The suicide mission. It isn’t the best mechanically, but it’s very satisfying after working towards it the whole game and getting yourself as ready as can be.

Favourite Loyalty Mission:Thane, i’m biased. Grunt’s rite of passage is also just fun.

Favourite DLC:I’ll go with 1 from each game. Bring down the sky- I just find something pretty satisfying about pootling around shutting the 3 rockets off and finding all the little out the way side bits. And that view! Lair of the Shadowbroker- Feron my beloved. Gotta save my boy. Leviathan- felt like a breath of fresh air with the piecing together clues, and such a great creepy atmosphere. You really finish it feeling like ‘this may help, but at what cost?’ and it feels significant.

Control, Synthesis or Destroy:So funny story, I got so confused the first time I played and kind of panicked, completely missed that you could choose to run a different direction and just ran full pelt forwards yeeting shepard to the centre. When that activated synthesis I spent the next 40 odd minutes watching my computer in growing utter horror/confusion. Anyway destruction is the actual choice but fuck that whole ‘this has to genocide the geth and Edi’ thing fuuuuuck.

Favourite Weapon:Upgrading to the widow is nice but I am quite fond of the M-97 Viper in earlier/lower levels, the 6 shot mag is especially favourable.

Favourite Place:I really love the brutalist architecture of Port Hanshan.

Thank you for the asks! 🍟 What is your personal favourite piece of yours? This one of Keahi Shepard and Thane (which also has a full, semi nude version here) It's not the most technically proficient, it just makes me soft 🥺🥰

On a more technical skill level, I put a humungous amount of work into this Kolyat x Feron one and was so pleased with how it turned out (also nude). 👗When sharing online, which spaces do you enjoy sharing you art on the most and why? The straight up most enjoyable is here on tumblr. People leave such lovely tags or comments and old works continue to create engagement long after posting which is always such a nice feeling, on other sites it dissapears a couple days after posting and that's it. Unfortunately, I do be drawing the nude and erotica too, so twitter is a necessary evil as one of the few places left I can post such works and get any interactions at all (I also have Fur Affinity, Bluesky and pillowfort, but generally don't get much interaction at all on them). And while of course we should be drawing for ourselves primarily, lets face it, getting some attention feels good!
