So this is an AU where Akura was never saved/managed to escape from the Nightmare Court, but instead of fully converting to the Nightmare, something else happened and he became a sort of vampiric entity who leeches nutrients and magic from his surroundings. Has control over vines/plant life/etc, but imo so far I have not connected it to Mordremoth's influence and I'm not sure I will? Undecided and unexplored as of yet.

Leaning towards his name being simply Thorn in this AU, it kinda fits. Instead of him being Aurene's guardian/parent as Commander is in canon, it's Eiladhur this time. I jumbled a lot of the timeline to make it fit. Aurene is instead scared of Thornkura, because, well, something is really really wrong. He's not a bad person, but he's been doing some Nightmare court "cleanup" over the years before Eiladhur managed to kill him. ("Kill him?? Huh?? But he's alive, right?" well, yeah. It's complicated, but really isn't)

And as to the "souls" part, that's where the vampire part comes in too. Basically he can condense someone's magic/soul/blood(?) and take it out of their body and consume it. Makes it a little ball of dense magic, very nutritious. It's kinda like tanking an adrenaline injection to the heart for him tho so he doesn't do it often. He could get addicted. Scariest about it is probably the fact his victims do not feel pain or fear during the extraction, but instead immense joy and pleasure. So imagine this guy hovering his hand above someone else who is writhing and smiling and sighing before they drop like a sack of potatoes. Yeah.

What's your thought of The Last Amalgamate finale part by VyletBunni in general?

I thought it was sweet. It's nice to see people in fandom put so much effort into making projects like this; I have nothing but respect for the creator for putting so much effort into creating a multi-part fan animation, especially one that was packed full of love for the Undertale fan game fandom (while I haven't played it yet, I did recognize some of the TS!Underswap characters that were in there).

There were a few things that made me go "Hm, I don't quite agree with this characterization" or "I would tweak this a bit," but there wasn't anything egregious. I especially like that this animation showed that Ceroba's love for Kanako far outweighed any grudge or hatred she had for Alphys; Ceroba may not like the Royals but at the end of the day, she isn't going to let that disdain rule her. She wants her daughter alive more than she wants to yell at Alphys about making her an Amalgamate (a pattern that was carried out by all the other Amalgamate families. None of them seemed mad at Alphys for making the Amalgamates; in fact, they seemed pretty grateful to have their family back, even if they were a bit... Melty and fused together with other monsters). So, yeah. Happy ending for everyone (including Clover)!

Unfortunately, because I am not fond of Amalgamate Kanako designs/interpretations that have her just be melty but she's still mostly intact and herself (or it's just her and Integrity and it doesn't have her fused with other monsters), my opinion was always gonna be ambivalent at best. At the end of the day, you can't win everyone over 🤷

revamped them a bit

stylistically not much has changed but i did put a sticker over the icon on polaris's laptop and added the prep school logo from chihiro's original design to the vest

some other stuff i came up with on the fly:

polaris is not wearing a school uniform despite how it might look. she didn't attend school consistently since she was on the run from her shit ass family but she likes the aesthetic so most of her clothes look vaguely academic

polaris's laptop is actually something custom-made by some tech company in the togami conglomerate. one of the first things she did with it was deactivate all the tracking and background programs and more or less gut its operating system

if chihiro hadn't stepped up to help his father's company he would have gone down the route of research and programming. as it is he knows enough about tech and software to be able to work with them, but not to the degree of being an 'ultimate'

chihiro did go to a private school but only attended it sporadically since he was also co-running an entire company. but he usually wears his school outfit to give the impression of being an innocent fancy lad (however, the cross-tie was not originally from the school's uniform)

An AU where they grew up as upper class rich kids going to fancy charity events and banquets every weekend.

Mike hates them and is dragged to them against his will, but at least Max is also forced to attend with her family, so they don't have to suffer at these stuck up formal parties alone. The Byers-Hoppers are new in town and are attending their first charity event as members of the rich people community of Hawkins and Mike has a bi panic moment when he spots the family's twins in the crowd. (at first his silly ass almost mistakes them for a couple until Max corrects him)

The Wonder Twins(as Max calls them) seem like an intimidating pair, they are in their element at the fancy events, and Mike is very much not. But when he catches the twins pulling pranks on the sidelines of the events, he gets the courage to try and befriend them.

(this had a companion piece of Mike and Max, but anything I made would just not look even close to what the sketch did, so I just put the sketch under the cut)

Primal Fears AU content but don’t worry it’s still sonadow

That last one is a repost from last year so if you saw the silly drawings but then read the thing in the bottom left corner and went “wait what the fuck”

It’s because it was an AU thing but I literally only had that drawn out and now you get some context at least:

In this universe Sonic is an assassin/bounty hunter/whatever you wanna call a guy that is hired to specifically to kill other Entities. He meets Shadow when they run into each other because they’re both following the same Avatar. Then they do the normal canon sonadow thing where the first interaction they have always ends with them fighting and beating the shit out of each other. And then they kinda calm down but then Shadow has a similar moment from the beginning of the IDW Sonic comics where he gets absolutely pissed that Sonic managed to distract him from catching the bad guy and zooms away before the two have another chance to speak again.

Here Shadow is a GUN field agent except in this universe GUN isn’t really military and it’s more focused on not only investigating (like the Magnus Institute) but also actively dealing with the Entities. Which sounds great except remember how I said they aren’t military well actually they kinda are because “dealing” with Entities and Avatars just means: throw it in the high-security prison that is guarded by other various Avarars that all work for GUN because it means they don’t have to get thrown in prison. So GUN is kinda like The Magnus Institute + Section 31 working together. So actually I guess it’s like the SCP Foundation.

One day Shadow goes into work and Sonic and there and I’m not really sure on what I’m gonna do in the plot to make him end up there (like maybe he’s undercover and just using GUN to get to his next target or maybe GUN does the “hey we’re gonna throw you in jail if you don’t agree to work for us” idk again not sure yet) but now he’s working with Shadow because they still need to catch that Avatar.

So now we’re sorta caught up, they’re at Club Rouge (and I realized I didn’t specify which Entity she serves in my drawing of her but people who guessed the Stranger ding ding ding here have some sonadow) because Sonic and Shadow need to kinda interrogate Surge and Amy, who are associated with the Slaughter. They have a band called Poison Rose and it’s basically just Grifter’s Bone but they perform rock music instead. And are also probably dating.

Anyway the Big Case™️ Sonic and Shadow are working on is investigating a bunch of spooky murders and they’re pretty sure whoever’s behind them is a Slaughter avatar. But not specifically Amy and Surge☝️ They’re kinda “allowed” to perform the Music That Makes You Die because GUN also has like an “informant” group of avatars they can rely on. These avatars don’t work for GUN, but they agree to chill out on the spooky stuff if it means they don’t get arrested for spooky crimes. So for Poison Rose, “chilling out” on the spooky stuff means that they have to force people to wear earplugs while they perform, which wasn’t specifically stated in MAG 42 if that works or not, not really sure of the magic rules of the Music That Makes You Die phenomena but yeah they gotta do that and probably some other stuff so GUN doesn’t arrest them. Like maybe no swearing or something lol.

Okay gonna stop there before this gets even longer explaining my AU because this was supposed to be just a normal sketch post but whoops.

Oh also I made a playlist for the kind of music Poison Rose performs but it was made private because I didn’t want anyone to stumble across it and be like “pshhhh this dumb person who makes public playlists of their AU that no one knows about what a loser” (me when I make up completely unrealistic scenarios in my head) but now here’s a post explaining that part of my AU so that person can’t make fun of me anymore

The kids are EEEEEVIL!!!!

Wizard is in his Azure Flame costume from ovenbreak. Strawberry is Wild Strawberry from Twizzly Gummy’s Crew. Gingerbrave is emo a zombie, kinda.

In this timeline, Wizard’s need for power in order to survive quickly turned into a lust for it. He craves it, and is under the thrall of the Azure Flame Staff which whispers to him. He is convinced that only the strong will survive, and those without power are worthless. He is terrified of being powerless as a result. He remembers what it’s like to be helpless, and never wants to feel that way again. His prickly and reclusive attitude is a result of trying not to get attached (because attachments are a weakness) yet he can’t help but have a small fondness for Gingerbrave and Strawberry, as they’re one of the few cookies who understand what it’s like to hit rock bottom.

Strawberry was deeply traumatized when she saw her witch eat a cookie before her eyes. When she tried to warn others of what she had seen, she was dismissed. When the Jellywalker Apocalypse began, she was once again at a major disadvantage. Too quiet, too soft, too shy. Eventually she found herself on Twizzly Gummy Cookie’s crew, and they rescued her from her original timeline but were a pretty bad influence. She learned to be ruthless, because that's what was needed to survive an apocalypse and run from the time police. This version of her isn’t afraid of speaking her mind and being heard. Twizzly’s gang fell apart due to the TBD, and she felt abandoned as a result. After being spat out into a random timeline she decided to lay low and eventually met Wizard and Gingerbrave. She’s stuck with them ever since and silently appreciates their loyalty.

This timeline’s Gingerbrave didn’t survive his escape from the oven. The Witch caught him just as he had busted open the doors and she smashed him to pieces. However, with a few icing stitches and a bit of dark magic, he was brought back to life and swore vengeance on all witches. Not too long after escaping his Witch, he recruited Wizard and Strawberry to his cause to “fix” what he perceives to be a rotten world. He does truly care for his comrades and considers them his dearest friends, as they were the first to not mistake him for a mindless undead or recoil at his habit of falling apart. He’s retained a decent sense of humor, and is still a bit ignorant when it comes to the world due to being freshly baked, however he’s a lot more closed off when it comes to strangers and not quick to think that everyone has his best interest in mind like his Canon counterpart.

The trio have looked out for one another for a while, at first things were a bit rocky between them, a loose allyship to pursue a common goal; but it’s grown into a deep loyalty towards each other.

If Wizard Cookie is separated from the Azure Flame Staff for too long he starts to experience severe withdrawal symptoms. His fear of being powerless, alongside the Staff’s thrall over him, will cause him to act desperately and get it back by any means necessary.

Wild Strawberry Cookie has seen a lot in other timelines, and as a result recognizes quite a few faces that she otherwise wouldn’t have met. She also has a stash of Time Jumpers, which allows her to dominate a battlefield as she utilizes its abilities to fast-forward and rewind herself.

Gingerbrave frequently has to redo his stitches, as they have a habit of breaking or wearing down due to the icing’s low quality. The worst ones are around his neck, which will cause his head to go flying off and getting lost. Despite the major drawbacks this causes, he can also use it to his advantage, as his individual parts are still autonomous from one another. He can also swap parts out for new ones, meaning if he loses an arm, he can take one from a fallen enemy cookie or cake monster and use that instead. He has a supply of different parts that he swaps out depending on the mission. However, he feels most comfortable with his original pieces.

While it isn’t official, Gingerbrave is considered the leader, as he keeps the group focused on their goal: to steal the Soul Jam and use them to destroy the Witches and their influence.

They actually don’t like Dark Enchantress Cookie and don’t plan to join the Cookies of Darkness. While they both have similar plans of stealing the Soul Jam and wanting to reform the world, Dark Enchantress wants to make a world that is under her control, while Gingerbrave wants to create a world of absolute free will and lawlessness.

Basically, the kids are anarchists who view Dark Enchantress and the Ancient Heroes as Tyrants.

Idk if i'll do more with this concept, but I thought it would be fun/funny considering Strawberry and Wizard both already have "evil" designs.

Hey ya know how in canon Donnie yoinked that magic crystal from Draxum's place and used it in his goggles to be able to see mystic energy? Yeah so he never got that crystal in the AU, if you remember. Instead, Donnie unlocking Ninpō way earlier in the AU is what allows him to see mystic energy. He can't summon an arsenal of weapons yet, however! He may gain access to magic much quicker than in canon, but his progress with it is gonna be a lot slower, for now he only has the mystic sight.

I'm gonna make another post soon where I'll explain a bit more in details how I imagine Donnie's Ninpō evolves throughout the story (kinda long overdue ngl lol)

As for the whole Shelldon being mystic thing uh... well so I've had this headcanon for a while now (and I've seen other people share it!!) that the reason why Shelldon acts so much like an actual person isn't just because of Donnie's skills with programming. Basically, he subconciously used a little bit of mystic powers while creating him and that caused Shelldon to develop what I guess you could consider a "soul". Anyway, I wanted it be canon in the AU, but that also means that Donnie is gonna notice Shelldon's mystic energy the second he looks at him using the mystic sight soooo yeah had to include that in the comic lol.
