The 6 Heroes

Been on my mind for a long while but took time for me to finally finish figuring out their designs and color schemes. So everything is under the cut.

Rhyniol Husty: (ライニオール・ハスティー)

This is a younger version of Rhyniol compared to what we saw in the movie. Essentially what I believed he would look like just as he took the throne as a young King rather than the very ornate and heavy-looking clothes he wears in Hakabaka. His famous cloak passed on for generations was originally open with the long cloth primarily behind him so his arms aren't as restricted when fighting.

Personality-wise, he's sorta a mix of both Racles and Gira where he does everything for the sake of others regardless of what happens. He's rather brash but as the battles continue, he develops his skills to become the strongest and the leader.

Raine Brasieri: (レイヌ・ブラシエリ)

Jeramie's father. A laid back individual who does his best to be a pacifist between both humand and Bugnarok after learning the latter was in the same situation at the hands of Dugded. But, like his son, he had to learn that sometimes violence is the only way to get the point across when it comes to war. And like his son, he's actually terrible at providing text for subtext. Most likely because he only spent time with his family during his exile so they always understood each other. His death when Jeramie was a child was due to transferring his Symbol of Rule to his son which was protecting him from illness. His last wish was hoping Ishabana would protect his son from the same fate.

He's very much a romantic and his attitude tends to get on everyone's nerves. I'm pretty sure Rhyniol always warned his bloodline to stay away from Raine's because of this and later have a stroke when he learns about Giramie.

Neura Ferous: (ニューラ・フェロス)

A thrill-seeking tinkerer who has their eyes set on innovation even with all the obstacles of what was available at the time. The other Kings see them as a bit of a nutjob whenever she gets inspired at the worst times, but they get the job done.

The development of the OhgerCalibur and King's Weapons was their work as well as the Kings' Symbol of Rule after some were damaged (further explanation at the bottom of the post).

Their design is based off of pilots as she's often riding God Tonbo from atop its head rather than the cockpit.

Cosca Cula: (コスカ・クューラ)

An honest women who considers everyone her family and would do her best to protect them. While she performs tasks expected of women at the time, the other Heroes were well aware of her strength as a warrior and would even be afraid of her if they take things too far. But she tries to offset such intimidating behavior by being playful at times which only makes things worse.

Her founding of Toufu was because of her wish to feed the planet wonderful food and for descendants to be powerful and protective of their own families.

Rodi Ran: (ロディ・ラン)

A free-spirited individual who admires anything he seems beautiful inside or out, though he prefers his descendants to be both. His blonde and pink hair is actually a mutation caused by his Mark that became a dominant trait passed down in his bloodline.

Despite being a healer, Rodi is actually prone to violence and would threaten others with his Mark with a sweet smile on his face; something inherited by his descendent, Himeno. The others often have to hold him back whenever he gets too agitated as even Raine would need to hold him back.

Xerces Glauco: (セルセス・グラウコ)

The last Hero to join the team due to their disbelief that they were tasked with protecting humanity after growing up witnessing the darkness of it. But they were convinced to join the team after being told becoming a Hero can allow them to make change and achieve the justice they always wanted.

Aside from Raine, Xerces was one of the Heroes that sympathized with the Bugnarok the most and almost had a falling out with Rhyniol when the plan was to make the Bugnarok the enemy. When founding Gokkan, Xerces made sure the laws they and their people agreed one would apply to both humans and Bugnarok in hopes the two sides would find peace.

As the original user of the Ice Seal, both of their eyes are ashen in color. When teaching their successor the Seal, they didn't know why it only affected one eye but played it off as a choice.

The Symbol of Rule:

Many months ago, I had a theory about the 6 Heroes' weapons and how 5 of them were what inspired the King's Weapon and the Modes used by all Kings: Sword, Gun, Sickle, Bow, Claw.

I believe the development of both the OhgerCalibur and King's Weapon was used as a way to unite the Five Kingdoms even with borders and the eventual issues between the next generations of Kings. The OhgerCalibur being based off ZERO was to respect Rhyniol who won the competition to become the planet's King but then decide it should be split between the five. The King's Weapon was to symbolize the Heroes banding together to fight a large threat. The ability to switch between different Modes allows flexibility.

But what about the Symbols of Rule?

Basically my thought was based off the fact that in Episode 44 when the new Alliance was signed, the Symbols of Rules were glowing: The OhgerCrown, Yanma's earring, Himeno's crown, Rita's bracelet, and Kaguragi's amulet. The outlier was Jeramie's KumonoSlayer despite the fact his Symbol was actually the gem embedded in his chest.

This was probably an afterthought but hear me out: the gem was only half of the actual power of Immortality.

What I found odd was the use of the gem when it came to defeating Grodie. How did the power of Eternal Life grant a living corpse true life but also have said corpse be killed after being granted eternal life? It didn't make sense to me, really, so I had to think through everything. I shouldn't, but my lore brain demands it.

As I said before, the KumonoSlayer glowed with the other Symbols of Rule when the Alliance was signed and sent the light that pierced the universe. I believe it's the other half of the Symbol or it's the main source of the power but gave half of its power to the gem. Such power returning upon Grodie's defeat.

I'm only saying this because of Jeramie's story with his mother. She died in battle when he was still a child (if we assume he aged normally and stopped aging upon reaching adulthood) and there was no sign of his father during said flashback. He was also much more attached to his mother despite having fond memories of his father like how he was the one who taught Jeramie how to draw and told him the story of King-Ohger.

Given the implications that his father died some time after turning his KumonoSlayer into Jeramie's mask. Without the KumonoSlayer, he would no longer have full access to the power of Eternal Life which would make him more susceptible to illness and disease and die an early death. And it's highly likely given the fact he was banished and wouldn't have been allowed near humans so he wouldn't get the treatment he needed. He would leave everything to Nephila to take care of their child before she, too, dies but in battle.

So what about the other Symbols?

This is a bit more of a stretch as it's connected to my theory of the original weapons of the 6 Heroes were actually the modes used in the King's Weapon.

We'll start with Husty Family. The OhgerCrown and Lance were sealed away due to its universal power. The OhgerCalibur ZERO was Rhyniol's original sword and also the key to sealing and unsealing the Crown and Lance (along with the king's crown). And in order to activate ZERO, it needed a blood sample of the one wielding it to transform.

The power of the other Symbols were also sealed.

Considering the other 4 countries don't have 2000-year-old weapons like Shugoddom or Jeramie, the next closest thing would be their Symbols of Rule. If we consider the idea of the Heroes taking their damaged weapons and turning them into such Symbols, it's most likely how they sealed it. What makes them different from Shugoddom is that reforging such weapons would free the Symbols of the restriction that is requiring the bloodline to use it which is important given that 3 of the countries don't use bloodline for succession.

But again, these are just theories and speculations based off what the show has given us. I could just be reading into it too much, but it's a lot to think about whenever I'm trying to brainstorm stories revolving around the Symbols.

As for the markings on the drawings, its mainly my take on the fact that they're the original users of said powers so such use would create long-lasting effects on them.

Is Chikyuu only Shuggodam, N'kosopa, Toufu, Ishabana, The Jeramie Zone, and Gokkan? Is there no unknown/unclaimed territory that we know of? I always wonder where the quary they fight in is, if each kingdom has some or if it is a neutral zone..

I'm trying to think of a kingohger character for this story and I'm not sure whether or not a new kingdom is plausible.

And is Jeramie's Place underground? It seems that way, but it doesn't really seem like a country.

Is it that Jeramie is the king of the bond between man and bugnarok, and not actually of a specific country, so a different sort of king?

Kingohger writing is so solid but I am still left with so many questions. I don't pick up on underlying themes often so I'm not sure if a lot has gone over my head or is just left up to the up known because it's nitiasa and we don't have to know everything/let the kids imagine stuff

i like to imagine that each of the countries has their own quarry ❤️ that just happens to look exactly like all the others ❤️

imo jeramie is genuinely meant to be king of an actual kingdom of bug citizens but sadly kingoh is uh. well we're kind of blowing the budget in other arenas here & reiwa sentai already has a pretty minimal monster suit budget to begin with so his onscreen "citizenry" consists of literally just gerojim and a handful of generic footsoldiers if we're lucky. it's a little unfortunate.

you're kinder than me about kingoh's writing which i think is... kind of a wild disaster at times but i say that with a lot of affection, rest assured. the worldbuilding in particular often makes very little sense but it's like you're saying, they're relying on kids just kinda not noticing and/or having fun filling in the blanks on their own. which i think is generally fine for something like this.

so in that respect if you want to create an entire new country for an OC to hail from i'd say go right ahead bc it would be well within the spirit of "making things up" at the heart of kingohger.

A Rebellious Princess

I'm pretty sure once Rita steps down and is able to spend more time with their daughter, they're the most doting and overprotective parent to ever parent bc they don't know if they'll be good enough. It kinda reaches a point where Iris would have a rebellious phase against Rita at one point and even rope in other successors who would happily join. Himeno finds it adorable and Morf kinda eggs her on despite it giving Rita so much grief. She and Rita do talk it out, though, which helps them figure out boundaries and that Iris is no longer the little girl Rita dotes on.

Now for other information!

Matsuha (from the pine sawfly "matsuhabachi") (she/her)

Kaguragi's successor and Iris's future girlfriend. She finds it hilarious how her playfully flirting with Iris brings her predecessor so much dread so she doesn't mind joining in. It does eventually lead to actual feelings, but Kaguragi doesn't need to know that.

She's from a different family that Kaguragi saw potential in and decided to mentor. Too bad for him that he has to deal with another SuzuRacs situation. Only problem is not only is his successor flirting with the Princess of Ishabana, he has a former Supreme Justice breathing down his neck. He basically had to beg the two girls to stop for his and Matsuha's safety.

Ermin (from aparturina erminea, the turquoise emperor butterfly) (they/him)

Morfonia's successor and Irisvia's adoptive sibling. An orphan from Gokkan who attends law school and looks up to Rita.

While they don't necessarily see the four as their adoptive family, they don't really object to putting that title to use when confronting the four on some issues. Even questioning how in the world the ruthless yet fair Rita Kaniska managed to spawn the selfish troublemaker who calls herself their sister.

Morfonia finds them too stiff so she hopes being her retainer and spending time with her family can help them loosen up and give them a larger view of the world before she can consider them in line for the throne. They do appreciate the warmth from the family but still finds being stern essential for their eventual ascension to the throne.

Maple Campa

Age - 25 (23 pre-timeskip)

Height - 157cm (~5'2")

Bug - Rosy Maple Moth (Dryocampa Rubicunda)

Likes - Rita, Morfonia, fluffy things, finding broken items to fix, sweet foods.

Dislikes - incompetent castle workers, fixing castle property they could've fixed earlier if the workers didn't brush them off, following Morfonia out of Gokkan without Rita.

Born from 2 prisoners serving life sentences. Sent to N'kosopa at the age of 8 after being found tinkering with broken toys and appliances. Returned to Gokkan in adulthood to help with maintenance and making deliveries around the city.

Has a huge crush on Rita and can easily be bribed with rare photos of the King with Moffun when they're told to do jobs they don't want to like following Morf out of Gokkan to pick up supplies or be an escort. They try not to be tempted, but to see their icey King be so cute is too irresistible to them. They're one of the very few people who has seen Rita with Moffun but Rita is unaware of that.

Despite their crush, they like to watch Rita grow closer to Morfonia and Himeno. Their main goal is wanting Rita to be happy so they don't mind if their feelings are never reciprocated.

Their favorite job is cleaning the giant gargoyle head in the throne room despite the risks. All because they get to find new things dropped inside or the high chance of seeing their King enter the room for work.

Himeno would soon catch wind of the crush and tease them, ensuing hilarious chaos because Maple wants to set her up with Rita but Himeno wants Maple to act on their feelings to their King.

Rita once considered Maple to be a potential candidate to the throne but after eventually finding out how Morf got them to do certain jobs, they decided it would be near impossible for Maple to swear to Absolute Neutrality. But they did trust Maple with fixing up their Moffun plushies which they happily do. Sometimes even return them with new accessories like jackets or hats.

When able to, they do go back to N'kosopa to visit friends. Yanma knows them because he found it insane for them to return to Gokkan instead of being one of his top contractors (he doesn't know about their crush on Rita). Maple and Shiokara get along due to their love for their respective Kings but Maple tends to avoid Yanma's crew due to their loyalty to Rita.

Maple is sometimes called into Bugnarok for work, but doesn't like it when Jeramie is present because he likes to tease them about Rita and always probing why they never act on their feelings. Gerojim more often than not has to supervise so they wouldn't fight.

Rita never goes out of their way to be liked. So imagine their concern when one of their most loyal workers walks around Zaiban after a shopping trip with plushies of them.

They didn't know if they should feel happy that someone likes them or extremely concerned that there was merch for sale.

A Princess and her Parents when they were in middle school (for some timey whimey reason)

Still trying to figure out a good name for her as the placeholder has always been Hana (from ranhanakamakiri like Himeno's surname). So far a good alternative is Cela from Celastrina serotina, the cherry gall azure butterfly which is a carnivorous species of butterflies that feed on mites. There's also the Feniseca tarquinius which is of the orangey-yellow variety which fits as they feed on aphids. I'd use the purple emperor (apatura iris) but its name is already being used as part of another OC's name and is the child of HimeRitaMorf.

Irisvia "Iris" Ran-Kaniska

The Crown Princess of Ishabana born from Queen Himeno's studies on DNA splicing to have a child made from the DNA of herself, Rita, and Morfonia.

Due to the difficulties of creating a child from more than 2 parents, she was carried in one of Ishabana's Incubators to keep track of her growth and stability. The first trimester was under Himeno's care due to Ishabana's stable climate before being able to be cared for by Rita and Morfonia in Gokkan a couple weeks at a time to allow her to bond with all parents. Rita and Morfonia would try to visit Ishabana as much as possible since the Egg would spend most of its time there.

Because she is of royal blood, Iris has to stay in Ishabana most of the time which has caused issues as she was born when Rita was still King. While her Gokkanian parents do visit, sometimes Himeno would have to take her to Gokkan in order to see them more often. Rita stepped down from being King after Iris's 2nd birthday since their workload often prevented them from seeing their daughter. Morfonia was able to find ways to make the workload easier for herself once she became King so she could still spend time with the child. Both are often seen taking naps together which makes Rita and Himeno snap photos and cry from the cuteness.

Her hairclips are asymmetrical on purpose. Himeno does it as a nod to her Chapter 2 dress and Rita's collar and hair. Her skirt is designed to look like flower petals so her outfit is essentially butterflies on a flower.

Her hair has a pink tint due to Himeno's pink highlights from her natural blonde.

How she refers to each parent:

Rita - Papi (パピ). Taken from "Papillon" as Rita didn't want to be called "Papa" after Himeno called them such so they compromised.

Himeno - Mama (ママ)

Morfonia - Ha-ha (母). Morfonia doesn't mind "Kaa-san/-chan" but due to Iris's upbringing, she calls Morf "Ha-ha". (She suggested "Mami" but Himeno rejected it bc it meant she'd match Rita and they already rejected "Papa".). Iris does eventually call her "Kaa-san" as she grows up.

Like Rita, Maple tends to overwork themself. The only difference is that Maple's workload is more voluntary and their inability to say "no" at times compared to Rita's King and Chief Justice duties. Rita and Morfonia take a while to notice until Rita had to run out and catch Maple from falling off the radio tower from exhaustion. Since then, Rita assigned one of the castle employees to keep track of Maple's workload so they won't overfill their schedule again.

It doesn't really work until Chapter 2 when Rita found Maple overworking themself after the 5 Kingdom Reclamation Arc helping with repairs. They already began seeing Maple as a possible friend and younger sibling by then so they gave Maple a stern lecture and to remind them about proper work-life balance before yelling at the employee for not doing their job. They even allow Maple to nap in the throne room between jobs as long as there aren't any court hearings. Otherwise they'd tell the handyman to sleep in one of the guest rooms.

Fun Maple Lore: Gokkan Citizen with N'kosopa Heritage

Because Maple was born from an N'kosopan parent, they were sent to the country of technology before God's Wrath to have an education for their love of tinkering. Because of the tragic event that turned Chikyuu upside down, Maple basically had to teach themself everything when the country was in shambles. This led to them being considered one of N'kosopa's best contractor even if they preferred smaller-scale projects.

Yanma wanted them to work for him and was salty when he learned they wanted to go back to Gokkan to work there despite having a good relationship with the Hacker Gang. Sometimes he slips up when the two see each other while Maple is picking up new tools and equipment and would mistakenly insult Rita which strains their relationship. Maple still respects him as King, but wouldn't hesitate to remind him of his terrible combat skills. (They're not that great, either, but Maple at least has the strength to make up for the lack of skill).

And because they're from N'kosopa, they do act like a yankii. It's pretty uncommon for them to slip into that behavior, but it mostly happens when theyre in N'kosopa to match the energy or dealing with someone unruly or insulting their King. Rita has seen it quite a few times, but finds the idea of a short person going full yankii hilarious. Maple basically looks like an angry pomeranian puppy to them so they're struggling to not laugh when Yankii!Maple surfaces.

It was because of those moments that Rita used "pekepon kitsune" (no good/cross-brained fox) when body-swapped with Yanma.
