Ben Fennell plans to set up a venture that “will help individuals, teams and businesses grow”. Further details of his plans will be announced in six months’ time, however BBH has stated it is a non-competitive business. He will remain at the company until the end of 2018. The role of UK chief executive will be absorbed into Neil Munn’s role as global chief executive. The company hopes this new organisational structure will bring it closer to its ‘One BBH’ vision and keep it “on track” with regards to both creative output and client services. ”Having worked for BBH for almost 25 years it’s time to set up my own business. I’m passionate about growth, and in the new year I want to create a business that helps individuals, teams and businesses do just that,” said Fennell. “For now however, I’m fully focused on creating growth for BBH’s clients and on managing a seamless leadership transition at 60 Kingly Street.” Fennell joined the agency fresh from university in 1994. He was appointed to the board in 2000 and became chief executive of BBH Asia Pacific in 2002, when he moved to Singapore. The ad man moved back to London in 2006 and was named chief executive of the UK business in 2008. "When Ben Fennell walked into the BBH building nearly 25 years ago nobody could have anticipated the massive impact that he was going to have on our business,” said Munn. “His energy, his commitment and his agency leadership have been truly exceptional and we have been very lucky to have him in amongst the black sheep. "At the end of the year he will leave with our gratitude, blessing and absolute respect, and we will move into the next phase of making our creativity central to the success of our clients’ brands." Taking the reins will be Patrick Johnson, who currently serves as chairman of the seven-year-old firm. Before joining Affectv, Johnson held top roles at Leo Burnett, TBA Global and WPP. In a Medium post, Calvert said his seven years at the helm have been an “incredible journey,“ one that involved growing the business from “a tiny office in Soho” to a global operation with offices across the US and APAC. “Startups are exhilarating, terrifying, and rewarding beyond description. But deciding the right time to move on from a business you founded can be the hardest decision of all. It’s a decision that can only be made when you have a management team with depth of experience and exceptional skills,” Calvert wrote. “Patrick brings this to the role having scaled advertising businesses, and in particular having held executive positions at Publicis and WPP. Combined with the support from our outstanding team, Affectv is well placed to achieve our mission.” This article is about: Europe, People On The Move, Career, Advertising, Brand // Featured in this article Affectv Find out more Share to Twitter Share to LinkedIn Share to Facebook Get The Drum Newsletter Build your marketing knowledge by choosing from daily news bulletins or a weekly special.
