i keep envisioning alba as a short person but i think it'd be cool if they were tall too. it would add to their intimidation factor for sure. but at the same time, a short person being as feared as alba is is definitely more to my liking (there might be projection on my part but then again alba started as a self insert lol)

OMG WHERE DO I BEGIN. i love talking about my OCs but im so bad at actually writing the stuff in a way that makes sense. i have like 2 or 3 docs with some info but it's not presentable at all.

there's so much stuff to get through so get ready for the lore dump of the century

so, Alba comes from a small seaside town that was invaded by one of the two kingdoms in the story and most if not all the townsfolk were executed so the place could be inhabitated by the invader's subjects (there's some geopolitical reasons to the invasion that i wont get into right now). by a series of magical shenanigans and plot armor, Alba survives the whole ordeal and ends up in a nearby island where they eventually meet Laios Xanthos, an old priest that lived in the outskirts of the island's town. Xanthos takes them under his wing and becomes Alba's guardian.

Alba grows up in that island barely remembering their life prior to being in the priest's care (mostly because alba was like 3-4yo when it happened). As a kid they meet Siavash, a lonely boy from a horrible family, and they become best friends and eventual lovers.

As a teen, Alba made a name for themself in the town always being around the harbor helping the sailors with their shipments and volunteering at the orphanage because they felt it was the best way to pay back all of Xantho's kindness. There's two important events in this period of their life. The first was one time that Alba's magic (water element) got out of control and almost drowned the whole town by fucking up the tides (if you've seen steven universe, it was similar in concept to lapizlazuli making the water tower to get out of earth in her first appearances). The other time was the Orphanage Incident.

That was when everything started falling apart. Alba occasionally took the kids out with them to the harbor so they wouldn't get bored at the town. This one time one of the girls got on a ship to explore in typical childish curiosity and ended up finding and releasing something she shouldn't have. Long story short, the thing was "owned" by the mayor's son (something something, illegal trades and trafficking and such) and when he found out about it he lost his shit, Alba tried to cover up for the kid and the kid ended up dead. The Mayor's son blamed all of this horrible stuff on Alba and they were exiled for like a year or two. Nothing anyone could say would have changed the outcome because even if Alba was well liked, power and money and no morals talk louder.

Xanthos moved some strings so that Alba could at least go with an old friend of his during their time away. The friend in question was a captain and she basically taught Alba all about sailing. The teen, though traumatized by the Incident, managed to get along pretty well with the crew.

You may be wondering what was Siavash doing during all of this and the answer is nothing because he never had the courage to step out of his comfort zone (tbf to him, he is a victim of abuse and getting away from it is hard but his reluctance to both accept help and change is what ruins his life forever). Understandably, the exile put a strain in the lovers relationship. Alba, once the exile ends, cannot go back to their old life for many reasons and invites Siavash to sail with them so they don't have to be apart anymore. The dude doesn't really want to but ends up accepting anyways.

Little detail I didn't mention, Alba has been dealing with a "curse" ever since the tides event. Their magic has moments when it gets out of control and their mental health got worse and worse with time because they're stubborn and don't like showing weakness. I think you imagine where this is going. We got Siavash who's having doubts about sailing and a recently-promoted captain Alba that has duties to fulfill and a deteriorating mind. Yeah, shit hit the fan. Alba turns to more violent approaches while sailing in an attempt to placate the "curse's" urges, Siavash is horrified at the sight of their beloved being that way but doesn't know what to do. They argue. Badly. Siavash sees no other option but to plan a mutiny (very reasonable, very normal, not at all overreacting).

Alba loses their eye in the fight with Siavash when the mutiny is in action and the crew leaves their captain to die in the ship while everyone gets on the lifeboats.

(insert here the Mother Crash Out of all crash outs). With all the blood lost from the eye injury and the violent urges from the "curse" and the pure unbridled rage of the betrayal, Alba is pretty delirious. They attempt suicide because what else was there for them anyways. They don't die ofc. The magic shenanigan from when they were a kid and didn't drown comes back and saves them.

The magic shenanigan in question is a pact with a soul trapped in a different plane that i'll have to explain another time because this is already long enough. This pact has been partly the reason Alba's magic went haywire occasionally because it was left incomplete when it first appeared and now after the attempted suicide its fully active. After the pact comes fully into action, the person affected becomes immortal. Details aside, enter Savitri Panthea, the soul in question. She's based on a flamboyant cuttlefish and a bit of a vampire squid. I'm still working on her character, she's pretty underdeveloped...

Alba wakes up in a random shore, wanders into a city and decides to live there for a bit. Where before they were pretty well liked, now they became feared. The anger in Alba's heart clouded their mind for years so the violent side Siavash ran from is all left in them anymore. They still have some morals and such but anyone they don't vibe with ends up sleeping with the fishes. In this city they ally themself with Emelrich, an innkeeper in a bad part of the city. Emelrich provides them with shelter and food as long as Alba takes care of any troublemaker at the inn and runs errands to keep the place in shape.

Alba doesn't spend all their time at the city tho. They offer their services as a mercenary and a captain, if you're willing to pay the price and accept the small chance you could end up at the bottom of the ocean if you're scum trying to take advantage of them. That's how they gained the name of The Tides Terror. Many ships had gone missing or arrived empty of crew at a port because the angry pirate deemed you a shitty person that wasn't worth the time nor money. People learned to be careful with Alba because you never knew if you had their favor or not.

One time, someone came asking for a ride to Alba's old home, the island. The pirate almost declines because of all the pain associated with it but decides to accept. The thought of revenge was tempting enough. But not against Siavash, which would be understandable, but against the mayor's son that started the chain of events that lead them there. So back home they went.

Some sailors back home recognized Alba when they started asking around for info and most answered gladly. The old seafolks missed having the kid around so when the exile took place, no one there was happy about it and they resented the mayor and his family greatly. The orphanage took a massive hit after Alba left because people in power were desperate to erase anything good Alba did to better justify the exile. So they underfunded the place and the kids had to turn to other places to bring food to the table. A couple of the orphans were working in the town's tavern so when Alba showed up they almost jump to meet them (they don't because they're working and Alba gestures them to keep a low profile)

Ok, this is getting super long. Alba gets revenge, the mayor's son is dead and Alba goes back to Emelrich's inn. The asshole's death causes a chain of events relating to Siavash and Xantho's but that's a story for another day.

every once in a while i draw my trainersona and their fuckass diva of a zoroark.

the gist of their story is that they're unovan, became champ just for the money (they actually dont like fighting and also wanted an excuse to run away from home), hated all things related to being a public figure and fucked right off to explore other regions (hoenn and kalos, maybe kanto?)

in this universe they're siblings with moon (which would also be of unovan origin) and, after tagging along with trainer!andy in their travels, she gets her first solo adventure in alola following pretty closely the SuMo story.

trainer!andy would reach alola by the ultraspace stuff and meet with moon after coming back from fighting lusamine. they meet guzma, shipping ensues.

of all my OCs i think Musa has to be the prettiest.

like, i make characters that specifically cater to me always and i would even say that all of polymythic were made to be the most aesthetically pleasing OCs ever (for me). but they're designed with that purpose in mind.

musa just came out like that. i struggled with his design for a while and then one day this beautiful young dude existed. i don't even know what makes him different from any of my other OCs lol

i need a ship name for alba/circe/calypso. alba/siavash is siavalba because im basic and they're basic and it sounds nice. but the other is a throuple. combining three names is a pain in the ass so i should think one of those artsy ship names

like. they're teens trying to get by. they get in trouble sometimes but ultimately just want to feel at home somewhere again.
