La chanteuse Krutь a participé à la finale de la sélection nationale pour l'Eurovision 2023 avec la chanson "Kolyskova"

Elle est entrée en scène sous le sixième numéro.

La performance de l'artiste s'est avérée émotionnellement forte.  Non seulement elle a joué du bandura sur scène, mais aussi un petit garçon.

Selon le juge Taras Topolia, il n'a jamais pu écouter la chanson Krut sans larmes.

- Beaucoup de gens en font l'expérience maintenant.  C'est top… Vous avez une chanson très forte cette fois.  Il m'est difficile de dire dans quelle direction quelque chose doit être changé, mais il me manquait quelque chose, dit-il.

Krutь est unе chanteuse, poète, compositeur et joueur de bandur ukrainien.

 Le vrai nom de la chanteuse est Marina Krut.  Elle est née le 21 février 1996 dans la ville de Khmelnytskyi.

 Marina aime la musique depuis son enfance.  La jeune fille est diplômée de l'école des arts pour enfants Khmelnytskyi dans la classe de bandura.  Et puis elle a poursuivi ses études au Khmelnytskyi Music College nommé d'après  Zaremba

 Au cours de ses études, Maryna Krut a participé à de nombreux concours de musique, elle est donc devenue lauréate et lauréate de nombreux concours panukrainiens et internationaux.

National final season properly kicked off last week when Ukraine and Estonia released their competing songs! I’ll get to Eesti Laul soon, but first, here’s my ranking of the Vidbir songs:

KRUTЬ – Колискова (Kolyskova)

OY Sound System  – Ой, тужу (Oy, tuzhu)

FIINKA – Довбуш (Dovbush)

Tember Blanche – Я вдома (Ia vdoma)

Jerry Heil – WHEN GOD SHUT THE DOOR

2TONE – Квітка (Kvitka)

Moisei – I’m Not Alone

TVORCHI – Heart Of Steel

Angelina – Stronger

DEMCHUK – Alive

Three songs really stand out to me in this selection. Dovbush and Oy, tuzhu both grabbed my attention from first listen and I think they’re the most interesting sounding songs here. I like the rap in Dovbush a lot, the beat is tight, and I like the way it switches it up with the slower section towards the end. There’s quite a lot going on in Oy, tuzhu, with its combination of dubstep and sweeping strings, but I enjoy all of it! I especially love the floating vocal which ties the whole thing together. It’s not the most melodic piece, but that’s part of what makes it stand out so much to me. I’m very curious to how it will come across live – there’s so much potential for an exciting visual, atmospheric performance to go with it, and the vocal line could be very powerful if the singer can pull it off.

My favourite of the bunch, however, is KRUTЬ with Kolyskova. I liked her song back in 2020, so I was looking forward to what she brought this year, but she definitely outdid herself in my eyes! This is such a beautiful piece of music, almost ethereal – I love the sound of the bandura and the way it’s used here. KRUTb has such a delicate voice, and I know she can sing well live from her previous entry. My favourite part of this song might just be the lyrics – they talk about the war and the toll it has taken on the people caught in it through the perspective of a mother singing her son to sleep. It’s a really emotional song, with the music working brilliantly to evoke the emotions the lyrics explore. I felt the pain hidden in the gentleness even before looking up the translated lyrics.  

Because of this, Kolyskova is definitely the song I want to see in Liverpool this year, I feel it would be a wonderful successor to Stefania. KRUTЬ has a distinct style and it’s perfectly realised in this entry, so I want this to be her time. However, I’d be happy with any of my top three winning, or even something further down my ranking with a strong live, I honestly like nearly all of the songs here on some level.
