Oh yes for sure. That’s the guy she needs!!!!!!!!!!!! 5x05 was gold for westallen and kv !!! I think even joecile had a few big moments in that ep, if I’m remembering right.

I remember I was annoyed at how many times they tacked the “my friend” in early s5 because it was like the writers knew kv was starting to sound romantic

I’m the anon that resp about KV. I just realize something after reading your resp. It seems as though as soon as B & I became official in season 3 is when the CS character took a turn for the worst. It’s like they were trying to pacify certain fans since their self insert was not going to get the grand love story with the hero. So CS became this entitled, coddled character that could do no wrong even when she clearly was doing wrong. Excuses were always made for her horrible behavior.

Yes, spot-on observation, nonnie. The writing for her definitely took a turn for the worse in season 3, and she also started to have her own arcs, however horribly constructed they were. There was this need to double down on showcasing her in relation to her white privilege, the moment Barry and Iris became official in season 3. In order to pacify her fans that a black woman was the leading lady and the love of Barry Allen’s life, she was given arcs where she literally treated women of color as expendable, while KF apparently went from being a villain to a hero, despite her admission of dismembering people, after a pep talk from Iris, whom KF had previously attempted to kill. 

She’s now constantly coddled by the narrative. Episodes like 5x15 demonstrate this, where she and Cisco go on a moral diatribe about how Barry shouldn’t have used the cure on King Shark, even though it was in literal self-defense, because King Shark had not consented, nevermind that like fifteen minutes later, she and Lyla are placing Grodd in a medically-induced coma, without his consent, but in the name of self-defense. And even though this doesn’t make sense, and her hypocrisy ought to be evident, the story wants us to think that she was right. And the only way anyone would defend her is because of her white privilege, which the narrative excuses in order to coddle her. 

Iris being the black leading lady means that both on and off screen the writers and the network think that they have to somehow make up for the fact that this white woman is only a supporting character. The racism is so pervasive: they really think they have to compensate for having a black leading lady. It’s truly appalling. That’s why Caitlin is treated with kid gloves in the narrative, while Iris is constantly thrust into internal turmoil, narratively, where she doubts her self-worth, due to other characters’ misplaced emotions, and thus, she often is a punching bag for other characters’ misplaced anger. Look at the way the writers crafted Iris and Nora’s arc in season 5: between Nora revealing that future Iris chipped her in 5x04 and then unfairly yelling at her mother in 5x05 about how controlling she is in the future to the truth finally being revealed in 5x12 that Iris was an extremely loving mother, who assured her daughter at every turn, Iris was put through needless and extensive emotional trauma about the mother she would become. The racist overtones are pretty evident, and the awesome ladies at the ladieswgumption podcast have done a great episode on this, which they call the Compensation Theory.

Hi! I’m super behind in the flash but I just need to know, any developments with killer vibe? Could they really go romantic?! What have I missed?! I hope something good

It depends on when you left off! 

First half of season 5 was amazing, especially 5x02 5x05 5x06 and 5x10. They did everything together, nicknames, emotional convos, saving each other from death, Cisco a little extra touchy with her, etc. Cisco told Frost he wanted a wife and kid, and it’s because of this Caitlin decides to make a metahuman cure with him (he initially thought she’d want one) despite her doubts about it. 

….Aaaaand then second half it went down the drain.They never worked on the cure together on screen. Cisco got a new girlfriend he’s lying about his life to (and never even kissed), and is missing in random episodes, and Caitlin had a huge episode with no Cisco at all. 5x15 & 5x16 was good but it was almost like that was the only time they even talked so. It’s been really dry. 

The KV fandom got excited about 5x18, set in the future where Nora (Westallen’s kid) had a bff who acts just like Cisco and Caitlin. It’s interesting 8 episodes after Cisco tells Frost he wants a kid a literal carbon copy of him shows up in the future, so people started wondering if she’s Killervibe’s daughter (or adopted daughter). But then they killed her. So. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Who knows anything anymore honestly.
