Colby Thomas as Christine in Hamburg

She was alternate Christine 1992-1993, and then principal from 1993 and until the production closed in 2001. It means almost 10 years in the role and some 1,900 performances. Thus also a LOT of photos, as Hamburg was very good with updating their brochures with new cast photos. Here's some favourites!

During her alternate days Tim Tobin and Simon Tunkin was her principal Phantoms. Thomas Schulze, who was alternate Phantom at the time, took over as principal right after Colby Thomas did, c. 1994. He remained the Phantom until c. 2000 (or late 1999), hence all the photos of them together. On the other hand she played opposite many principal and alternate Raouls: Timothy Breese (1992-1993), Dale Tracy (1993-1996), Jörg Westerkamp (1995, 1997), Ray Gabbard (1997-1998), Björn Olsson (1998-2000) and Kyle Gonyea (2000-2001). Probably also more.

I last streamed this in 2020, and it's been lingering on the requests list for far too long. It's been a while since I streamed Ian in general, I think, and I'm curious to see what people think of him. He very much has a PRESENCE. Colby is a solid Christine, and Kyle's portrayal of Raoul is one of my favorites, actually.

This is a really random question but about this audio: Ian Jon Bourg, Colby Thomas, Kyle Gonyea June 29/30, 2001; Hamburg, Germany. Is Act 1 from the 29th and Act 2 from the 30th because the show straddled midnight or did someone record Act 1 and then come back the next day and record Act 2?

Most likely it’s the second. It might just be me, but even if a performance went past midnight somehow, I’d still only label it as “June 29″, because it’s technically the same performance; it did not become a separate one as soon as the clock hit midnight. Recorders do record on different nights, often because of recording issues and what-not.
