Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway are featured in the latest installment of American Currents: State of the Music, the annual exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville showcasing country music and its place in American culture over the past year, open through January 2026. "I’m so honored to be included," Tuttle says. "I can’t thank the Country Music Hall of Fame enough for all the support they’ve shown me through the years. It’s extra special for me to share this display with Shelby, Kyle, Dom, and Bronwyn after countless miles and performances together."

AUTHENTICALLY YOU from Cesar Velasco on Vimeo.
About a year ago, I drove through an ice storm from Washington DC back to Dallas in order to make Authentically You. It was an extremely difficult time for me—but because this project was so close to my heart, it got me through. Like Grandes Momentos, this piece is a personal testament to the places and people that made me who I am. Using a docu-style commercial approach, Authentically You conveys a sense of personal style and story, merging both my background in the Dallas & Denton Music scene with my craft in filmmaking. It was a challenging and cathartic revelation both on set and its final form as to who I was, who I am and who I yearn to be.
Thank you to everyone involved in this–Every single cast member and location in this piece has a strong attachment both to a very unique scene of artists and to myself. Thank you to the dedicated crew who understood the intricacies of my vision and supported me throughout it all.
Finally, I want to give a huge shout out to every single musician in Denton and Dallas and beyond. For giving me a home when I needed it the most, for being my friends when no one else would, and for inviting me in without hesitation. To the relentlessness of those living in the margins by their own means, to every artists that says “fuck you” to the status quo and dreams bigger than most people dare. To those that stay true to who they are and live with continual authenticity and intention.
Thank you for inspiring me, thank you for giving me a place. This one is for my band, my friends, and finding home in Denton, Texas.

Librarian: [makes meowing sounds because there's a cat in the story]
Five-Year-Old: You know, that's not half bad!
[Entire group of five-year-olds proceeds to attempt to imitate Librarian's meowing]
=-=-=-=-=
Eight-Year-Old: You know, this story's really good, actually.
=-=-=-=-=
Librarian: [reading from 'Beatrice Doesn’t Want To' by Laura Joffe Numeroff] Beatrice didn’t like books. She didn’t like to read. She didn’t even like going to the library.
Five-year-old A: [shocked/horrified gasp]
Five-year-old B: [disapprovingly] This is NOT a good book.
=-=-=-=-=
[While reading 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers]
Kid 1: Oh my God, NO. Don’t throw the cat!
[...]
Kid 2: Where did he even GET an orangutan?!
[...]
Kid 3: How’s he even lifting that house?!
Kid 4: He obviously has superpowers like Superman if he can do THAT.
Kid 3: Yeah. Superpowers. Definitely.
[...]
Librarian: I wonder how they’re gonna get everything down if even the firemen got stuck.
Kid 5: Call the police. They wouldn’t get stuck ‘cause they’re smart.
=-=-=-=-=
Librarian: Does a kangaroo have a mother too?
Three-Year-Old: No!
=-=-=-=-=
Librarian: [while reading aloud a book involving the beach] I like going to the beach.
Five-year-old: Me too! I've been to the Bahamas!
Librarian: Oh, I want to go to the Bahamas!
Five-year-old: Then go! It's only two plane rides, six hours.
=-=-=-=-=
[While reading a lift-the-flap book, when a turtle is revealed to be under a rug]
Three-Year-Old: [GASP] Is a tuttle!
=-=-=-=-=
Librarian: Would you share a $500 dollar gift card with your siblings like Kyle did in the story?
Kid 1: Yes, because I have the best siblings in the world.
Kid 2: No! I hate my brothers, I wish they’d stay in the basement all year long.
=-=-=-=-=
Librarian: And the Big Bad Shark said “Little fish! Little fish! Let me in!”
Five-year-old: Nuh uh!

Keeping Secret: books to read
The Kingdom by Jo Nesbø, Robert Ferguson (Translator)
Roy and Carl have spent their whole lives running from the darkness in their past, but when Carl finally returns to make peace with it, the two brothers are inexorably drawn into a reckoning with their own demons. Roy has never left the quiet mountain town he grew up in, unlike his little brother Carl who couldn’t wait to get out and escape his troubled past. Just like everyone else in town, Roy believed Carl was gone for good. But Carl has big plans for his hometown. And when he returns with a mysterious new wife and a business opportunity that seems too good to be true, simmering tensions begin to surface and unexplained deaths in the town’s past come under new scrutiny. Soon powerful players set their sights on taking the brothers down by exposing their role in the town’s sordid history. But Roy and Carl are survivors, and no strangers to violence. Roy has always protected his younger brother. As the body count rises, though, Roy’s loyalty to family is tested. And then Roy finds himself inextricably drawn to Carl’s wife, Shannon, an attraction that will have devastating consequences. Roy’s world is coming apart and soon there will be no turning back. He’ll be forced to choose between his own flesh and blood and a future he had never dared to believe possible.
The Kindest Lie by Nancy Johnson
A promise could betray you. It’s 2008, and the inauguration of President Barack Obama ushers in a new kind of hope. In Chicago, Ruth Tuttle, an Ivy-League educated Black engineer, is married to a kind and successful man. He’s eager to start a family, but Ruth is uncertain. She has never gotten over the baby she gave birth to—and was forced to leave behind—when she was a teenager. She had promised her family she’d never look back, but Ruth knows that to move forward, she must make peace with the past. Returning home, Ruth discovers the Indiana factory town of her youth is plagued by unemployment, racism, and despair. As she begins digging into the past, she unexpectedly befriends Midnight, a young white boy who is also adrift and looking for connection. Just as Ruth is about to uncover a burning secret her family desperately wants to keep hidden, a traumatic incident strains the town’s already searing racial tensions, sending Ruth and Midnight on a collision course that could upend both their lives. Powerful and revealing, The Kindest Lie captures the heartbreaking divide between Black and white communities and offers both an unflinching view of motherhood in contemporary America and the never-ending quest to achieve the American Dream.
Ghost Blows a Kiss by Carolyn Hart
The late - as in Dearly Departed - Bailey Ruth Raeburn is delighted when she's assigned a new mission by Heaven's Department of Good Intentions, even if she is no good at following the rules for Earthly Visitations. This time she's determined to be the perfect unseen emissary, no matter what it takes. Arriving late in the evening in her old hometown of Adelaide, Oklahoma to find a woman drowning in a pond, Bailey Ruth carries out a daring rescue with textbook invisible effort. But Bailey Ruth soon realizes there's more to Fran's accident than a late-night walk gone wrong. The young widow was running away - but what from? Soon Bailey Ruth finds herself caught up in a complex web of family secrets, loyalties and lies - and if she doesn't act fast, an innocent will be locked up for a very long time . . .
Never Ask Me by Jeff Abbott
Each of us has a question we dread. When the simple community of Lakehaven is shaken by a violent crime, doubts begin to arise among the locals about whom they can trust. In a quiet neighborhood in the wealthy Austin suburb of Lakehaven, the body of Danielle Roberts is discovered on a park bench. Danielle was a beloved member of the community, an adoption consultant who delivered the joy of parenthood to a number of local families. Her murder shocks Lakehaven. Perhaps no other family is as crushed as the Pollitts, who lived two houses down from Danielle and thought of her almost like family. Her death becomes the catalyst for a maelstrom of suspicion and intrigue. You have been told a huge lie, an anonymous email charges the son, Grant. No one can learn the truth now, thinks the father, Kyle. Never ask me what I'd do to protect my family, resolves the wife, Iris. I'll do whatever it takes to save him, vows the daughter, Julia, of Danielle's grieving teenage son. The Pollitts always thought they'd always be there for each other. When each begins to suspect the others of the unimaginable, the strength of their bonds will be tested in extraordinary new ways. The latest from New York Times bestselling author Jeff Abbott ishis most suspenseful thriller yet: a riveting tale of the dangerous secrets one family has concealed -- and what happens when the question each Pollitt hoped they'd never be asked threatens to expose their darkest truths.

Song Review: Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway - “Queen of Hearts” (Live, July 27, 2024)
Molly Tuttle has the Juice - Newton that is.
Tuttle & Golden Highway are one of those acts that can take a lame-ass song like “Queen of Hearts” and make it kick ass.
And that’s just what they did July 27 at Maine’s Ossipee Valley Music Festival. As captured on video and recently released, it features strong harmonies between Tuttle, bassist Shelby Means and banjo picker Kyle Tuttle and solos from fiddler Bronwyn Keith-Hynes and mandolinist Dominick Leslie, which is to say MTGH took that sad song, rolled it in bluegrass and made it better.
Much better.
And, this is the kicker, they did so without a hint of irony.
Grade card: Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway - “Queen of Hearts” (Live - 7/27/24) - B+

Grammy–winning singer, songwriter, and musician Molly Tuttle and her band, Golden Highway, will release their new album, City of Gold, July 21, on Nonesuch. You can pre-order and hear the track “El Dorado” now here.
Produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and recorded in Nashville, City of Gold was inspired by Tuttle’s near constant touring with Golden Highway—fiddler Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, mandolinist Dominick Leslie, bassist Shelby Means, and banjo player Kyle Tuttle—and their growth together as musicians and performers, cohering as a band. These 13 tracks, mostly written by Tuttle and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show), capture the electric energy of the band’s live shows by highlighting each members’ musical strengths. City of Gold also features special guest Dave Matthews on the song “Yosemite.”

Three scientists attempt to keep alive the brain of millionaire megalomaniac W.H. Donovan after an otherwise fatal plane crash. The brain has other ideas and begins to possess people.
IMDb
  Director: Felix E. Feist
Writers: Felix E. Feist (screenplay); Curt Siodmak (novel: Donovan's Brain, 1942); Hugh Brooke (adaptation)
Selected Cast:
Lew Ayres as Dr. Patrick Cory
Nancy Reagan as Janice Cory (as Nancy Davis)
Gene Evans as Dr. Frank Schratt
Steve Brodie as Yocum
Tom Powers as Donovan's Washington Advisor
Lisa Howard as Chloe Donovan (credited as Lisa K. Howard)
James Anderson as Chief Tuttle (credited as Kyle James)
Victor Sutherland as Nathaniel Fuller
Michael Colgan as Tom Donovan
Peter Adams as Mr. Webster
Harlan Warde as Treasury Agent Brooke
Shimen Ruskin as Tailor
John Hamilton as Mr. MacNish, Bank Manager (uncredited)
Mark Lowell as Allied Supply Clerk (uncredited)
Chad chose Donovan’s Brain because when he saw it as a kid, he wasn’t scared by it at all. Wait, what? True, but being a Curt Siodmak fan and someone who always appreciates John Hamilton (Perry White in Adventures of Superman, 1952-1958), he decided to give it another go.  He appreciates Donovan’s Brain more this time, describing it as a good, solid, Sci-Fi B-movie with good performances all around, most especially, that of the brain.
Donovan’s Brain is also a lot of fun for Daphne. She just loves a growing, pulsating brain in a fish tank. Whitney thinks it is pretty neat knowing that Donovan’s Brain is based on a book by the author who wrote Universal’s The Wolf Man (1941). Jeff describes Donovan’s Brain as a science fiction picture with no science, just a lot of fiction and magical thinking. He’s particularly impressed with Lew Ayre’s performance as the doctor possessed by Donovan’s brain, and always loves Gene Evans and Steve Brodie.
If you’re in the mood for some 50s Sci-Fi B-move goodness, Donovan’s Brain is available to stream (at the time of this writing) from the Classic Horror Movie Channel and as PPV on Amazon. The movie is also currently available on physical media as a Blu-ray from Kino Lorber.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks. Up next in their very flexible schedule is one chosen by Jeff: Son of Frankenstein (1939), featuring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Basil Rathbone, and Lionel Atwill.
