thinking about simon being the best with kids despite what he's been through. he can handle a crying infant with ease, and he never yells or makes the little ones feel bad when they start acting fussy and throw their tantrums. he just chuckles and talks to them as softly as possible until they're back to being little angels. he likes to gossip with them about random things and sneak them sweets and chocolate because apparently they're on a sugar ban.

(johnny's missus scolded him for being too soft and always giving in to their demands for sugar, so now there's a massive shortage on the goodies.

"don't tell your parents; they'll bite my head off," simon says as he reveals a bag of sweets, chuckling when his nieces and nephews buzz with excitement and gratefully accept them. how would they cope without their favourite uncle?)

he definitely spoils them; he can't help it. he feels the need to provide them with things he never had growing up, to show them that he's a safe space and that they can rely on him for anything. he isn't much good with words, but he'll try for them.

there's just something about him being surrounded by a bunch of children that makes your heart clench. he's so soft with them; he listens to their babbling and responds appropriately, and he plays and teases just the right amount without ever actually hurting them. it makes you beam so hard your cheeks are beginning to hurt.

it would be nice, wouldn't it? to have your own baby with him. a perfect mix of both your features. your own kid. an entire rugby team, maybe.

when he looks over at you and catches that soft, longing gaze, he knows what you're thinking about, because he's thinking it too. his heart sings at the thought of creating something beautiful with you. maybe it's time to have a chat about making room for something more in your lives.
