Freedom of expression is necessary while in attendance at the West Indian-American Day Carnival Association in Brooklyn, as one is expected to defy anything which forces you to conform.

Carnival art comprises of masquerade costumes with jewels similar to the colors of cotton candy and exotic feathers attached to every garment representing birds, coral reefs, Caribbean Islands, and butterflies. Individuals in full body paint in colors ranging from blue and white. Rainbow like powder flies into the sky as everyone jump around gleefully. It's no wonder Carnival is loved and appreciated by so many globally.
