For those who don't know or are wondering how Longclaw fits into the Sonic lore, if you look back at levels from the older games such as Labyrinth Zone and Aquatic Ruin Zone

You'll noticed owl shaped carvings in the walls and statues suggesting they built much of the civilization that exists in Sonic's world, the emblem that she wears also looks similar to the Labyrinth carvings.

And it is worth noting that they would expand on this lore in the sequel since there was a great war of the owls vs the echidnas over the Master Emerald.
