Bowood House
Bowood, a Georgian country house in Wiltshire, has remained in the Fitzmaurice family, the Earls of Shelburne, for over 250 years. The house, featuring interiors designed by Robert Adam (1728-92), is surrounded by vast grounds, including a garden created by the famous landscaper Lancelot “Capability” Brown (1716-83). Unfortunately, most of the house was demolished in 1956. The first Earl of…

I've& been meaning to raise awareness of this but two Mi'kmaq children, six year old Lily & four year old Jack Sullivan, have been missing in rural northeastern Nova Scotia & this is the fourth day. They were reported missing around 10 a.m. Friday. They were last seen on Gairloch Road in Lansdowne Station. They have yet to be found. Their mother Malehya Brooks-Murray & stepfather, Daniel Martell, have told local media "they were sleeping with their 16-month-old baby on Friday morning as the older children played in the house. But when they awoke later in the morning, the two children were gone." The RCMP believe the pair, members of the Mi’kmaq First Nation community of Sipekne’katik, wandered off from their home and probably entered a heavily forested area. Now, to me&, as a survivor myself&, this is VERY suspicious.
Tumblr media
Please keep your eyes out for them. This is yet another case of MMEIP/MMEIWG2S+. This is going on constantly, all the time. Please share this around. These are literal tiny indigenous children.

This is soooo pretty. Located in Bath, Somerset, UK in the Cotswold's, the 5bd, 2ba, 2,452sqft home is listed for $2.535m approx. USD. But, you don't only get the main house- there's also a cabin, summer house, wagon, studio, yurt, and outbuildings.
Tumblr media
Look at the patina on the doors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn't the living room gorgeous? The books on the table- who wouldn't want to sit and read in here?
Tumblr media
What a comfortable living room for any season.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Around the corner they have a dining space set up with comfy couches. A place to relax and eat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What a cute kitchen. Look at the unusual metal cabinets. There are 2 stoves- a regular gas range and an AGA. The best of both worlds.
Tumblr media
Then, in this roomy space, they have 2 refrigerators, 1 is a red Smeg, laundry, and more metal cabinets. Also note the wide plank floor.
Tumblr media
Cozy bd. #1 features a fireplace, shelving, plus a large window.
Tumblr media
The bedrooms are quite spacious. This one has room for a kitchen table.
Tumblr media
The lovely large bath combines vintage w/an artsy modern feel.
Tumblr media
And, look at this beautiful light-filled room.
Tumblr media
The garden and patio outside the main house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not sure if this is the summer house or the cabin, but it has wide doors that open to the garden.
Tumblr media
The lovely bedroom has doors to the garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This cute long room looks like it may be what they refer to as "the wagon" b/c it kind of looks like a train car.
Tumblr media
Next, there's this adorable little guest house.
Tumblr media
Isn't this pretty?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then this guest house, also. Very nice.
Tumblr media
And, finally, the yurt.
Tumblr media
Beautiful Boho vibe.
Tumblr media
Beautiful bath addition.
Tumblr media
It's a gorgeous piece of property at the end of a winding private road.
Tumblr media
Aerial view of the whole compound. Bath’s center is a 16-minute drive or a 30-minute cycle-ride away. The city’s cultural attractions are plentiful, with brilliant theatres and galleries: The Holburne Museum holds world-class exhibitions, plus Bristol is a little over 30 minutes away by car and has a thriving art and music scene. So, it's perfect for artsy buyers.

Marble statue of Hermes
Roman, Imperial period, 1st or 2nd century A.D. Copy or adaptation of a Greek statue of the late 5th or early 4th century B.C.
The statue is almost intact, although the surface was strongly cleaned as was the custom in the eighteenth century. During that period, newly excavated ancient sculpture was cleaned and restored in Roman workshops before being sold to members of the European nobility. This work was acquired by the English statesman William Fitzmaurice, second earl of Shelburne, who assembled a distinguished collection of antiquities at Lansdowne House in London. The statue of Hermes once stood in a niche in the dining room at Lansdowne House, serving the same decorative function that it doubtless once served in a Roman villa of the first or second century A.D. The dining room, designed by Robert Adam, is now at the Metropolitan Museum, where it is installed with other period rooms from England.

Drawing Room from Lansdowne House
c. 1766-1775
Designed by Robert Adam (Scottish, 1728–1792) Painted decoration by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (Italian (active Florence and England), 1727–1785) , and by Antonio Zucchi (Italian, 1726–1795) Gilded by Joseph Perfetti (Italian, active London from 1760–1778)
This drawing room is an archetypal example of the work of Robert Adam, a Scottish architect and designer whose name has become synonymous with this style of neoclassical decoration. The room was originally situated on the ground floor of the grand London house that Adam designed for the third Earl of Bute in the early 1760s. Adam's original plans refer to it as the "Organ Drawing Room," the large recess being intended for Lord Bute's vastly expensive mechanical organ.
In 1765, Lord Bute sold the unfinished house to William Petty Fitzmaurice, second Earl of Shelburne and later first Marquess of Lansdowne, with the provision that Adam be retained to continue work on the home. Adam was already well known to Lord Shelburne, whose father had employed the architect to remodel Bowood, his family's country estate in Wiltshire. (Shelburne, who served as Secretary of State and in 1783 concluded the Treaty of Paris granting independence to the United States, entertained Benjamin Franklin at Bowood on several occasions.) Lord Shelburne and his wife moved into the house in 1768, when it was in what Lady Shelburne described as "so unfurnishd a State." Yet by the time of Lady Shelburne's death and the end of Adam's employment by Lord Shelburne in 1771, the decoration of the drawing room remained incomplete and was evidently abandoned.
Although the room's original furnishings do not survive today, it is known that Adam provided designs for a pier-glass and a semicircular pier-table, executed by John Gilbert; circular picture frames, executed by Sefferin Nelson; and a carpet, the design for which is in the collection of Sir John Soane's Museum in London.
In 1929, Lord Shelburne's heirs sold the house to a group of investors. The room was acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1931, when the front of the house, including the drawing room and the dining room (now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art), was slated for demolition to make way for a new street.

"Many [Canadian] veterans were furious that their overseas sacrifices failed to protect them from countrymen who were exploiting shortages to make huge illegal profits, despite stricter WPTB [Wartime Prices and Trade Board] rules. As a former private with the 3rd Division complained soon after returning to Toronto: “Soldiers cannot find houses or apartments unless they have a lot of money or get it through the black market.” In fact, some greedy landlords sought out veterans because they qualified for at least several hundred dollars in DVA [Department of Veterans Affairs] gratuity payments. In Halifax and Montreal, ex-soldiers reported being charged $70 a month for one-room flats — about four times the rate when they had enlisted."
Some feared violence from veterans over the housing situation. In July 1945 Canadian newspapers reported on “house commandos” being formed among British veterans who, in overcrowded cities like London, Portsmouth, and Liverpool, raided and took over properties known to be vacant for their homeless comrades, which the Ottawa Citizen saw as “a warning that should not go unheeded.”" Indeed, veterans in Vancouver came to dominate a new Anti-Eviction Committee that, authorities noted with concern, drew significant trade union, CCF, and communist support. As well as lobbying for more low-cost housing and stronger legislation to protect tenants, the group arranged for round-the-clock pickets outside places where veterans faced eviction.
In January 1946, tensions escalated considerably when 300 veterans, led by the sergeant-at-arms for the British Columbia Command of the Canadian Legion, occupied the Hotel Vancouver. Although slated for demolition before the war because it had gone bankrupt, it had been kept standing during the conflict to house troops. After the war, the Legion, the Canadian Corps Association, and the Army and Navy League lobbied to have the hotel turned into a hostel for veterans. Once the request was denied, the offensive was launched. Within days, the hotel was filled and a waiting list of more than 1,000 veterans and their families was generated. Some condemned the occupiers as communists, though it seems more people sympathized with these veterans who had fought for Canada and now faced homelessness. A standoff ensued for nearly a month, but ultimately the federal and municipal governments agreed to temporarily turn the hotel into a hostel. Ottawa even coughed up $15,000 toward basic renovations. The arrangement lasted until 1948, by which time most veterans in Vancouver, including those who had occupied the hotel, had found decent accommodation, thus permitting its demolition in 1949.
Similar incidents occurred elsewhere. In May 1946 fifty veterans converged in front of a Verdun flat to protect a former comrade and his family from bailiffs serving eviction papers. A Union Jack was symbolically strung across the porch. For two days veterans stood guard until new accommodation was secured for the 90 The Wartime Prices and Trade Board tenants, and violence was averted only because the police were under orders not to intervene.” In nearby Montreal, postwar housing shortages produced the Ligue des vétérans sans logis. Led by Henri Gagnon, a veteran and the French-language organizer for the Labour Progressive Party, the group occupied several local government buildings to press home its demands for a moratorium on evictions and for the provision of low-cost housing.
In September 1946 a Veterans’ Housing League in Ottawa occupied an abandoned military building on the Lansdowne Park fairgrounds. Mayor Stanley Lewis, who viewed homelessness among veterans as a national tragedy, refused to have the twenty-five adults and thirty-five children forcibly removed, even though the building had no running water, a leaky roof and, according to the fire department, faulty and potentially dangerous electrical wiring. However, in October Lewis stationed police outside Lansdowne’s horticultural building because of rumours that the Housing League planned another such operation. When another attempt at occupation did occur, during the wee hours of the fifteenth, it was thwarted. Still, the occupation at the fairgrounds persisted into early 1947, when an agreement was finally reached for the remaining members of the group to move into barracks at the Rockcliffe airport."

Studio Town Replacement Build/Buy Music
I'm personally not a big fan of the default Studio Town Build/Buy music. I find the techno/trance music quite hard to work with compared to the more mellow Build/Buy music in other areas of the game.
I was originally going to replace them with the Studio Town overview music - that old Hollywood light orchestral music that plays when you first load Studio Town - but instead of repeating those songs, I instead found 6 other pieces of light orchestral with a very similar style.
Tracklist sep6_bb1 : Non Stop - John Malcolm sep6_bb2 : House Party - The Westway Studio Orchestra sep6_bb3 : Holiday Mood - Lansdowne Light Orchestra sep6_bb4 : Up with the Curtain - New Concert Orchestra sep6_bb5 : Top of the Bill - Queen's Hall Light Orchestra sep6_bb6 : There's no Business like Show Business - Wally Stott Orchestra
Download
Open the .zip & move the 6 files inside the "Superstar" folder into "Maxis > The Sims > Music > Modes > Superstar", overriding the 6 existing music files.

We often think about time as being a social concept, anchored in a palpable present, routing between the past and the future but nevertheless a construct that makes sense once we engage, in perpetuity, with our human experiences. In fact, what is infinite and constantly subject to our imagination and our creative processes is the past; the memories stored, processed and shared, that integrate and…
