little headcanon: the Draconic urges and instincts that Dragonborns experience almost act like intrusive thoughts, similar to OCD.

these can be exhibited as intrusive urges to dominate, to argue a certain point until you win, to act on aggressive or violent thoughts, to have full control over situations or people, the desperate need to be right, or else - so on, so forth.

my LDB deals with them a lot, yet he's gotten better about differentiating between these intrusive thoughts and his actual, logical Robin Thoughts - ones that are under his control, and not influenced by his draconic self.

meanwhile, a much more powerful Dragonborn like Miraak - someone who has indulged in his dragon blood more than most - is compltetely unable to tell the difference. to him and other Dragonborns of similar power, these thoughts are perceived as the same as their own conscious thoughts, wants, and needs. letting this go unchecked can easily pave a path of destructive behavior.

as someone with personal experience with OCD, the best way i've found to slowly heal yourself is to give those thoughts a new name. give them an identity of it's own, and disassociate them from your conscious self. they get easier to manage, and over time become null or almost unnoticeable.

what if this was a lesson the Greybeards offered to the Last Dragonborn? what if it's a key skill to being able to safely harness your Dragonborn powers, so they don't fall down a dangerous path of seeking power and control?

I wanted to show you all Slaynil, or in other words, Faenil's Thalmor Embassy outfit. They really said that they're gonna show up and just kill everyone with their looks. It's kinda funny to compare the casual crusty and scrungly Faenil to the glammed up party diva Faenil. But you have no idea how fucking insane I go for juicy dramatic party infiltration storylines, and I'm definitely gonna make Diplomatic Immunity in Faenil's fic the plotline I always wanted it to be. There's so much potential and so much to explore, so I'll really need to use my thinking cap for that one LMAO
