Notterre National Park

The most popular landmark of the park’s appeal/intrigue are the trees! More specifically what has been documented being an 1,000+ year old tree!

Arborists from all over flock to this natural marvel collecting as much data they can get under strict supervision of the parks head. From what little is collected it appears to be a mix of a conifer tree but with large flat leaflets on the would be needles. The sheer heights surpass even members of the redwood and sequoia family. The fruit of the tree is inedible and rarely fall from branches without intervention of something or someone physically picking it.

Said fruit that has been collected are heavier than most and are inedible due to the hard mineral ore shell. This is a ripened fruit or rotten nut (hypothesizes are still being made and debated on the cycle and process but nothing can be known for certain in the scientific field).

Outside of science the purposes and usage of these strong metal fruits are most certainly agreed upon in the bustling town a few miles from the park (3-5 hour drive depending on traffic and alternate routes). Record keepers who run the towns historical society as well as the oldest generation of locals tell myths and tales as well as show the records of the strange and now extinct creature who once lived in the forest, where the National Park stands today; who would craft intricate bells they would adorn in for purposes unknown

SAS- IMAGE MANIPULATION

Utilising social media as a marketing strategy is important in any campaign. Create an Instagram presence for your social issue campaign.

TASK 1 - Find and screenshot at least 3+ Instagram accounts which you find interesting (best done on your phone - then email to your college account)*. The accounts should fit one of the criteria below:

The same / similar social issue as yours

General charity organisations

Influencers / individual campaigners for awareness of your issue

*note if you do not have the Instagram app on your phone, you can access Instagram by typing [NAME OF ORGANISATION Instagram] into Google and click on their link. 

Add your 3+ screenshots to your Supporting Document. 

TASK 2: Evaluate each screenshot in 100+ words: Describe the kind of content shared. What’s the purpose? Why does this account exist?

TASK 3: Create an Instagram grid. Download the grid template here.   The template is fully editable; so you can change every piece of text etc. Using Photoshop, you will need to create:

9 images for your Instagram grid (can be a mix of image + text)

Image/logo for your profile picture (same as logo from your other outcomes)

Images for story highlights

Make up a username and bio relevant to your campaign

TASK 4: Create a single post (please do this 3 times). Download the single post template here. Using Photoshop, you will need to: 

choose ONE of your images from your grid to reuse

write a relevant 30+ word caption

write 3+ appropriate #hashtags

add in your profile picture, username and location

Once complete, save as a JPG. Repeat steps so that you end up with 3x single posts. Add your 3+ JPGs to your Supporting Document.

TASK 5: Write a 200+ word evaluation, focussing on:

What were your ideas behind the design and contents of your Instagram grid?

How would you utilise the Instagram account to help raise awareness of your social campaign?  

How does the Instagram account fit in with the aesthetics you have used for your Social Poster, Trifold Leaflet and Merchandise?

Who would you expect to follow this Instagram account?

Ask a peer for feedback - record their name and comments.

What could you improve if done again?

EXTENSION TASK: Try making an ‘Instagram Puzzle’ style grid.

Download the template here.

Create your ‘puzzle’ design across the one large square.

Using the Crop tool, crop your design into 9 equal squares, saving each individual square as a separate JPG.

Add your JPGs to the grid mockup from TASK 3.

Write a short 100+ evaluation comparing your Instagram Puzzle grid to your original Instragram grid.
