"you   lost   your   balance."   it   was   a   simple   observation,   axel   looking   at   their   teammates   now   on   the   ground   after   a   session   of   training.   "we   work   as   a   team   to   win.   you   cannot   take   it   all."   the   different   parts   of   the   sekai   takai   are   very   keen   on   teamwork,   to   showcase   the   captain's   abilities   to   lead   by   example   but   also   to   show   when   to   pass   on   the   torch.   "judges   won't   be   as   lenient.   neither   will   sensei   wolf."   and   there   is   a   part   of   himself   that   knows   that   the   most   trouble   would   be   to   him,   considering   he   was   the   captain   (   the   star   of   the   dojo,   they   all   whisper,   how   often   he   comes   up   bruised,   but   how   often   he   had   no   one   land   a   point   on   him   ).   "if   you   can't   do   that.   you   are   not   built   to   be   captain."

                  DARK   EYES   NARROWED   AS   HE   LOOKED   AT   THEM.   THERE   WAS   a   mix   of   anger   and   respect   flashing   in   his   glare.   He   kept   his   distance,   but   only   because   he   was   sure   if   he   got   closer   to   them,   his   claws   would   dig   into   their   flesh.   Dwayne   would   want   nothing   more.   Instead,   he   dug   his   hands   in   his   jacket   pocket,   fists   were   clenched   tightly,   expression   still   holding   danger.   He   didn’t   like   the   pride   and   smugness   he   saw   on   Mercy,   not   the   way   they   looked   at   the   burn   scars   on   his   face   from   Tammy.   He   didn’t   like   how   they   spotted   the   scar   across   his   chest,   the   slender   burn   scar   on   his   side—   both   from   the   blessed   dagger   they   carried.   This   pain,   he   was   used   to,   and   he   was   making   that   absolutely   clear.

               HIS   HEAD   INCLINED   WITH   A   SLIGHT   TILT,   HIS   FACE   RELAXED,   the   slightest   amount   of   amusement   there,   “   Lucky?   ”   His   voice   calm,   “   Sure,   if   that’s   gonna   make   you   feel   better,   ”   lips   twitched,   but   nothing   more   than   that,   “   Make   you   feel   better   knowing   that   perhaps   your   skills   aren’t   as   great   as   you   think   they   are.   ”   no,   he   shouldn't   provoke   them,   but   it   was   better   to   put   the   target   on   himself   than   the   rest   of   his   family.   He   was   the   shield,   always.

               TAMMY   PUSHED   MERCY   PLAYFULLY   AS   THEY   WALKED   DOWN   THE   BOARDWALK.   The   sun   was   starting   to   set,   and   Tammy   didn’t   feel   like   going   home   just   yet.   So,   she   slowed   her   pace,   browns   looking   over   at   them,   “   Will   you   shut   up!   ”   she   nudged   them   a   little   harder   this   time,   laughing   softly,   “   I   just   said   he   is…   cute.   He’s   cute   for   a   vampire,   ”   she   whispered   softly,   “   It’s   not   like   I’m   going   to   pursue   it,   ”   Tammy   shrugged   her   own   shoulders,   “   Don’t   make   this   weird,   okay?   I   know   it’s   weird!   ”

"      OH,  OKAY.  THAT  AUTOMATICALLY  SOLVES  EVERYTHING.      —      all  my  worries  magically  disappeared  the  second  you  told  them  to.  who  knew?      "      every  word  drips  in  𝚜𝚊𝚛𝚌𝚊𝚜𝚖,  purposely  drawing  out  every  word  while  eyes  momentarily  widen  in  mock  -  surprise.  showing  𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻  for  another  doesn’t  come  naturally  to  snake.  most  of  the  time,  he’s  busy  looking  out  for  number  one;    himself,  but  every  so  often?    .  .  .    tough  exterior  slips  just  enough  to  allow  an  𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.  mercy  sits  as  proof  of  this.  he  can’t  completely  explain  why.  if  it’s  deep  -  rooted  loyalty  to  an  𝚘𝚕𝚍  𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍  he  hasn’t  spoken  to  in  years,  or  guilt,  because  maybe  he  should’ve  reached  out  sooner.  the  barnes  were,  once  upon  a  time,  as  good  as  FAMILY  to  him.  not  that  it  matters  much,  he  supposes.  they  wear  the  𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿  name  now  and  that  alone  has  him  believing  every  word  when  they  tell  him  they  can  handle  themselves.

idle  fingers  pick  at  the  remaining  fries  in  his  bowl,  arm  stretching  across  table  to  dip  them  in  their  sauce  without  asking.  it  tasted  nicer  than  the  one  he  ordered.      "      i  don’t  doubt  it.  never  hurts  to  have  another  person  in  your  corner  though.      "      whether  they  need  it  or  not,  he’s  there  now.  hasn’t  got  a  choice  since  son’s  interest  in  cobra  kai  peaked.  up  until  recently,  snake  has  been  nothing  more  than  an  𝚞𝚗𝚜𝚎𝚎𝚗  background  figure,  ear  pressed  to  the  walls    &    listening,  but  never  needing  to  make  himself  𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻.  until  felix.  now,  he’s  finally  making  it  his  𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.  make  sure  his  son  is  on  the  𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝  𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎  of  what  sounds  like  a  war  that’s  been  going  on  thirty  -  something  years.  he  should  know.  he  used  to  fight  in  it  himself.      "      seems  like  there’s  a  lot  of  heavy  shit  goin’  down.      "

                  THEY   SAT   IN   HER   GRANDPARENTS’   ATTIC,   HER   FATHER   FAST   ASLEEP   in   his   room.   Tammy   checked-in   with   him   here   and   there,   bringing   him   food,   making   sure   he   took   his   medicine,   and   had   plenty   of   water,   but   most   of   her   day   had   been   with   Mercy.   They   had   a   blanket   spread   on   the   wooden   floor,   the   two   journals   splayed   out,   and   a   few   other   random   books   they   found   collecting   dust.   They   were   going   page   by   page,   comparing   their   relatives'   notes,   seeing   how   they   truly   did   coincide.   Her   dad   was   right.   There   was   a   big   mystery   here.   Mercy’s   journal   was   the   key   to   their   own.   Their   journal   had   things   Tammy’s   didn’t.   

                  IT   WAS   CLEAR   SOMETHING   MAJOR   HAPPENED   IN   THE   TWENTIES.   THE   pages   were   ripped   from   Tammy’s,   dried   blood   clinging   to   the   pages.   A   story   was   here,   something   bad.   Who   would   take   the   pages?   Obviously   someone   who   had   killed   her…   whatever   they   would   have   been   to   her,   “   I’m   not   giving   up   I’m   just…   ”   she   huffed,   sitting   up   from   laying   on   her   back,   “   I’m   just   tired.   We   know   a   little,   but   more   than   I   had   when   I   first   started.   I   have   missing   pages   and   the   writing   in   your   journal,   at   least   this   page,   is   smudged.   I   can’t   read   it!   ”   she   groaned,   throwing   her   head   back   in   frustration,   “   Can   you   make   it   out?   Or   maybe   we   should   go   downstairs   and   make   coffee.   We’ve   been   at   this   for   hours.   ”

THANK YOU - thanksgiving is a few days away & i've really genuinely been in my feelings so hard of late when it comes to our little corner of the rpc. this fandom has been amazing since i joined it in 2022, and i am very very thankful for it and all of you every day. i have met some of my very best friends because of this show and this trash site that has us all in a chokehold despite its many flaws (there's a reason we call it dumblr). it has been an incredibly trying year, and not just for me. many people have been feeling the weight of life and this month especially has been incredibly stressful, sad & rage inducing given the pol.itical climate. my dashboard has been a welcome reprieve from all of it, and getting to talk with all of you more has been such a delight and i wanted to say thank you.

thank you for being you, for your kindness, for you acceptance of new people in this rpc, for being so open to ocs when that is not always the case in the rpc. i just adore all of you and wanted to fully write and show my thanks. it's hard to do much over the internet, but i wanted to list off those of you in this community whether you're a single muse, multi muse, canon character, oc, have ck verses. i just think everyone should be aware of how wonderful this section of the rpc is.

"i  mean,  this  is  no  cobra  juice  bar,  but,  the  drink  is  on  me  anyways.  non-alcohol  though.  this  is  a  proper  juice  bar."  bea  said,  sliding  the  smoothie  over  to  mercy.  she  remembers  seeing  them  back  at  the  dojo  while  she  was  there  making  drinks,  building  her  way  up  to  a  spot  on  the  squad.  unfortunately,  the  dojo  was  now  temporarly  closed  as  silver  was  serving  time  or  whatever.  "if  you  want  something  stronger,i  can  give  you  something  when  my  shift  ends."  a  short  pause,  as  bea  has  five  more  minutes  until  her  shift  at  the  juice  bar  at  golf  n  stuff  ends.  "i  know  this  must  be  a  hard  time."
