By the time Rachel got home from patrol she was way too tired to actually perform her normal routine of checking her apartment. Years of being a hero and her work as a cop meant she had plenty of enemies so she had been trained to check every place she stayed just in case, unfortunately tonight her desire to crash in bed out weighed the sensible part of her brain.

Stepping into the bedroom she pulled off her mask and tossed it on the bed and sighed running hand through her dark hair. She had just turned on the shower when she heard the sound of footsteps behind making her jump and spin around aiming one of her Eskrima sticks at the man's throat. It took a few moments for her to actually make out enough details in the dark to realise exactly who it was who had broken in. No it was impossible the person before he was dead and yet he may be taller and older but this was definitely him, sat in her room with a child in his lap. Her mind raced with about a thousand questions but for the second time in her life she was almost lost for words.

"Jaybird?" She questioned softly, slowly lowering the stick from his throat.
