“Flamecrest, flamecrest…”
Aether mutters to himself, fingers gliding through the keyboard as he searches the internet for details of the pizza place. He squinted his eyes, readjusting his glasses against the glaring white light of the screen.
“Let’s see… Flamecrest Pizza House, located by Children of Echoes, Natlan… that’s over six thousand— ‘delivers anywhere (yes, anywhere, even Snezhnaya)’?” The blond’s brows furrowed in confusion at the information displayed on the ad. “Takes what, days—?”
Aether spotted a glaring, ‘in under an hour!’ on the weirdly glittery online advertisement.
“… No way.”
He looked skeptically at his phone as he clicked a link redirecting him to a website where he could detail his order and whatnot. Deciding on a simple classic meat, he input his address and the likes. Under the payment method, he rolled his eyes and spotted his sister walking into the living room unsuspectingly,
“Lumine, you owe me a couple of mora. Let me use your e-wallet.”
“… I just walked in??” Lumine looked irritated, still taking out her phone.
“Don’t care, let me use it for pizza.”
“Stingy. I want some.”
Lumine showed him a QR code, now less bothered and simply bored. After scanning, Aether smiled and ordered.
“Call me over when it’s here.” Lumine waved off before going to her room. Aether was left with his thoughts, somewhat left in anticipation.
‘Maybe (Name) would be the one to deliver it? After all, she seemed to always be in a rush with the rollerblades…’
Aether rushed to the couch facing the door, lightly fidgeting with his shirt as he waited in sheer anticipation. After about twenty minutes of his eyes flickering to his phone’s weather app and the door, he leaned back to try and relax.
As soon as the first knock came, he was already by the door and opening it. He was instantly met with dark green and amber eyes, stoically looking back.
“… Oh.” Aether bore a poker face.
“Classic meat for… Lumine?” Kinich presented the box to Aether, who accepted it dejectedly.
“You don’t look like a (Name)…” The blond grumbled, mostly to himself. Kinich hums. “You don’t look like a Lumine either.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that. I was… kind of expecting someone else to deliver.” Aether scratched his head sheepishly, feeling a bit silly at his previous tone. Kinich shook his head.
“(Name)? Well, yes. She’s in charge of most deliveries. Just specifically not this one.”
“Specifically?”
“Yup. Saw the information provided and asked me to do it instead, in exchange for five deliveries. Weird. Never was that picky with who she’d deliver for.” The male shrugged.
“Saw the info…?” Aether was confused. “Er… did she ever say why?”
“Nope.”
“Would you think it’d be creepy if I asked you for her number or for you to give her my number?”
“Yeah.”
“…” Aether could do nothing but sigh in defeat. “Alright, alright. Thank you for the delivery.”
“You’re welcome… Lumine.”
Kinich quickly took his leave before even seeing the bewildered look on Aether’s face. He closed the door and practically tossed the box on the table, sulking on the couch.
Tumblr media
After a few hours, Aether woke up on the couch. Looking to the right, light from the streetlight came in with the pizza box missing from the table. The blond grumbled, messing with his hair a bit to wake himself up.
“… Ugh, I need to go outside.”
Putting on a sweater, he gathered his hair into a high ponytail instead of the usual braid and left. Pressing on his phone as he walked, it was about a quarter before eight pm. Aether just surveyed his surroundings.
A cold breeze blew by, causing him to shiver. He looked around and saw a small cafe exuding a comfortable atmosphere. Entering, Aether was pleased by the warm temperature inside. Ordering a latte, Aether looked around for a seat and saw the familiar (h/c)-hair by a booth near the exit. Gathering his bearings, the blond carefully approached the lone (Name).
“… Can I sit with you?”
(Name) looked up from her warm beverage to see a familiar blond, thinly veiled embarrassment present on his expression. She nods, smiling back while gesturing to the seat across.
“Not going to run away on me again at least, right?”
“Ah… of course.” Aether chuckled as he sat down on the plush seat. “Sorry about that. I was just…embarrassed.”
“Don’t be. I thought it was kind of cute. Ask people if they’re real often?”
(Name) looked to be having a well deserved jest from his actions, Aether noted. Kind of deserved, but still. The blond only sighed.
“I wasn’t thinking. Forget about it, please—“
“I understand.” (Name) chuckled, taking a sip of her drink. Aether paused at the reply. “Understand how? You know about it?”
“Yeah. Kind of my fault, sorry man.”
“You fault…that you appear in my dreams a lot?”
“You just have this… really convenient subspace highway running through your head.” (Name) points to the male’s forehead, the other hand on her beverage. Aether blinked twice, subtly tilting his head. “… huh?”
“It’s…” (Name) sighs. “Just… think of it as your dreamscape being a quick, traffic-less road that gives me the ability to travel shorter.”
“What, you just cross other people’s minds without trouble?”
“Mostly yours, but somewhat.”
“You're confusing.” Aether narrowed his eyes. ‘Does that mean she can read minds—‘
“No, I can’t read minds by the way,”
Aether flinched in pure disbelief, backing into the cushioned booth instinctively. (Name) laughs.
“I’m kidding, by the way. Your face just… kinda makes you easy to read.” The (h/c)-haired female took another sip to warm herself up as a waiter came to put Aether’s latte on the table. Aether takes the coffee and holds it between his palms to warm his hands.
“So me asking if you were real was totally justified.”
“Yup.” (Name) hums. “Sorry about that. It just makes it really convenient to travel from Natlan to here. Especially since I work delivering pizzas for people here.”
“No worries.” Aether took the time to look carefully at the female’s features. “I just… thought I was either hallucinating or dreaming when I first saw you outside a dream ‘cause you know. I mostly see you in my dreams rushing somewhere.”
“Yeah.” (Name) looks up and hums, smiling. “Hey, your hair looks better that way.”
Aether smiled back, albeit a tad bashfully. “Thank you. I mostly keep it in a braid.”
“Seems like your go-to. You always have a braid in most of the dreams I see you in.” (Name) placed down the now mostly empty cup, sighing. “Looks like I’m heading home now.”
“Already?” Aether felt his stomach drop. “I um, want to…go out sometime?”
“Like in a date way or what?” (Name) seemed to take delight in the nervous exterior of the male, his cheeks tinted red in a soft flush.
“It doesn’t need to be, just…” Aether pressed his lips together before smiling and tucking loose hair to the side of his face. “I don’t know… I think you’d be fun to hang out with.”
Being met with a lack of reply, the blond lightly fidgeted with his warm take-out cup. “I mean, like, I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before and thought maybe you could use some help navigating the city? It’s um, just you have a nice voice and you—“
“Sounds fun.” (Name) interrupted the start of Aether’s prattling, not seeming to mind. “Wanna go right now?”
Aether looked ecstatic before coughing to make it less obvious on his face. He stood up. “I— yes. C-can I buy you a drink? So we both have something warm to drink while we walk around.”
(Name) nods, standing up as well. “I’d like that.”
Tumblr media
“So you’ve lived here before, moved away, then came back? And we even went to the same high school?”
A thin layer of snow crunched between their boots as Aether couldn’t help but regret not putting on a thicker layer of clothing before going on this walk. How the hell would he have known it would snow tonight?
(Name) hums in response to his questions.
“Well, yeah. I mean, we at least must’ve crossed each other’s paths at least once.” (Name) removed her gloves and offered it to Aether. The blond shook his head, to which (Name) snickered at.
“Dude, I can see you shivering. Just take it at least. My hoodie’s thicker.”
Muttering out a statement of gratitude, Aether accepted the gloves and held his cheeks. Lingering heat from the gloves made his heart thump quicker.
“Still, I think I’d at least remember you. Even try to befriend you. You seem cool from first glance already.”
“Eh, I wasn’t much back then.” (Name) drank from the chosen beverage Aether had bought for her. “You look somewhat familiar to me, if that helps?”
“Somewhat…” Aether jokingly sulked. “By the way, why did you move away?”
“Family stuff. Kind of moved around a lot, honestly. Then I just chose to move here again.”
“Wait, like actually here? I thought you were from Natlan since you worked there.”
“I moved here, applied to a job that takes a long time to get from here as a joke and got the job.” (Name) sighed. “I mean, pays well. And thanks to your mindscape, it’s doable.”
Aether deadpans at the (h/c)-haired female, who only laughed at the face. “Hey, it’s fun to skate around!”
Having approached a deserted playground, (Name) tugs Aether to the direction of the swings. Dusting away some snow that gathered on the seats, she took a seat on one while the blond took the other. With both drinks gone by now, (Name) rubbed her hands together from the lingering cold touch of the snow.
“See, I told you.” Aether removed the gloves and presented his palms. “Give it here.”
(Name) places her hands between Aether’s, the chains holding the swings creaking as she turns her body. Aether moved his hands lower to lose contact before a small fire erupts, hovering over his hands and under (Name)’s.
“You have a pyro vision? Cool.” (Name) looked pleased by the warmth. Aether chuckled. “It’s complicated.”
“… Seriously though, you look really really familiar.”
Aether looks up to find (Name) already looking at him intensely. He backed away by a miniscule distance, feeling the heat crawl back up his cheeks.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Maybe you were the cool one who didn't notice me.” (Name) winked, removing the serious and slightly romantic atmosphere between them. Aether snorted, freezing up as (Name) laughed at him.
“Hey—!”
The two’s short banter was interrupted by a strong, snow-filled breeze blowing against them. The fire on Aether’s palms diminished as they both shielded themselves from the snow.
“Yikes, it’s picking up now.”
Aether nods at the remark as he looks around. Crap, they were pretty far from his home. And most shops were closing by now.
“We need to go back before it gets worse.” (Name) stood up and pulled Aether up from the swing seat. “You live near?”
“Y-yup!”
“Liar. Close your eyes for me, yeah?”
Aether does as ordered, yelping as an arm hooked under his knees and behind his back, picking him up. With two loud clicks below, Aether could feel the cold nipping at his body as the wind rushed past. (Name) was skating, carrying him as the speed increased.
“Door, door… gonna need to use your head for this one, Aether. I’ll be quick.”
The sound of tires echoed through the blond’s head as he began to picture a… wooden door? Coming closer and closer. The knob twisted before (Name) grunts. Next thing he knew, they both crashed on a carpeted floor. Aether finally opens his eyes.
(Name) stood up, wobbling and closing the door behind her. Tapping on the heels of her shoes, the tires of the rollerblades retracted. She took off her shoes and donned on some slippers.
“Sorry for the bad landing. Make yourself at home.”
(Name) helped him up and dusted off some snow that gathered on Aether’s sweater and hair.
“…”
Aether looked up and brushed away some snow gathered on (Name)’s hair and clothing as well. Golden yellow eyes meet (e/c) ones, to which the female smiled at.
“The snow’s really picking up… would you like to stay the night? I don’t like having to send others out at such a bad weather.”
“If you don’t mind.”
“Not at all.”
Something furry curls around Aether’s leg. Both looked down to see a white persian cat, purring.
“Oh, kaede… I have two cats, by the way. Hope you don’t mind.”
(Name) stepped back, leaving the intimate scene for now. “Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?”
“You—r t-tea, thank you.” Aether gripped his arm to divert his embarrassment. (Name) raised a brow. “Really?”
“…Yeah, why?”
“Dunno… you seem more like a hot chocolate or coffee kind of guy. Then again, it’s night…”
“Hot…chocolate.” Aether chuckled sheepishly. “Um, sorry. I panicked.”
(Name) looked amused, nodding as she disappeared into another room. The blond’s eyes lingered on the doorway before he sunk into the couch.
“Your tea? What the hell…?!” Aether buried his face on the pillow. “This is so lame!”
After about a minute or so of sulking and wishing the couch would swallow him whole, Aether’s phone vibrated. Taking it out, he saw a message from Lumine asking where he’d gone. After sending her a message that he’d be gone for the night, he went back to facing a pillow.
Next thing he knew, a thick blanket was laid on his body, causing him to sit up and look at the female. (Name) held two cups of hot chocolate, melting marshmallows on top of the brown expanse.
“Kind of thought you passed out on me, honestly.”
“No, just wallowing.” Aether adjusted the blanket and scooted over to provide some space. He reached out for a cup and took a sip, sighing in relief at the warmth. (Name) sat down beside him with her own cup.
Aether scooted closer, laying the blanket on them both. (Name) leaned against him, sighing.
“This is nice.”
“Yeah.”
Aether could barely focus, having taken multiple sips and nearly burning his tongue to remind himself that he wasn’t dreaming. (Name) remained in the same position for a while longer before reaching out to the table and grabbing the remote, turning on the television.
Mindless noise from a drama movie went in on one ear and out the other for Aether as he leaned back comfortably.
“Sorry. I didn’t know the weather would pick up this quickly tonight.”
“Don’t be. I didn’t either, yet I still suggested we go out tonight.” (Name) assured, taking a sip of the hot drink. “Look on the bright side though, not the worst date I’ve ever been on.”
“Hah…” Aether let out a short laugh. “How low is the bar, exactly?”
“Ahem. This was actually pretty fun.” (Name) avoided the question and chuckled, looking to the side to meet Aether’s eyes. “For a date-slash-doesn’t-need-to-be-a-date, just-a-hang-out thing.”
Neither backed away at the surprisingly small distance. (E/c) eyes returned the same intensity that made Aether’s heart palpitate. Television and drinks forgotten, (Name) hums.
“… Sorry, do you want me to back away?”
“No. Do you want to back away?”
“No.”
“Good.”
As the noises from the television blurred, Aether found himself leaning in. Seeing the signal, (Name) does the same until their lips meet. Using his free hand, Aether cups the female’s cheeks to stabilize. With closed eyes, slight twinkling was heard around the both of them until they eventually pulled away. Neither of them looked elsewhere.
“Sparks…” Aether murmurs. (Name) blinked once. Then twice, then shifts her gaze at the small sparks hovering around them. She looked… less dazed and more confused.
“… Sparks? What…?”
“You… didn’t feel it too?” Aether’s expression drops, expression bearing semblance to a kicked puppy.
“No no. I… felt something but…” She reached out to one of the twinkling lights, dissipating as soon as she touched it. “Sparks are real?”
The two moved away from each other as (Name) clutched the cup and Aether leaned close in concern. “What’s wrong?”
“… Nothing’s wrong. I just thought people… were joking with me with these sparks fly crap. It’s my first time actually feeling it for myself, you know?” She looked sheepish. “Man, I owe so many people apologies.”
“Is that a bad thing?” Aether waited with baited breath for the response. Much to his relief, (Name) shook her head.
“No, no. It’s… good. Really good.”
“Would you maybe…wanna kiss again?”

1. How to setup 2FA on your accounts
As some of you may know, my friend @why-its-kai's Discord account was taken over this morning by a scammer.
The scam they used was this one, or close enough; but anyway, the exact specifics don't matter.
What matters is, it can happen to you. It can happen to anyone.
The good news is, you can learn how to protect yourself. Making some small changes can already improve your online security by leaps and bounds.
I made a series of 3 posts covering the basics:
How to setup 2FA on your accounts (you are here!)
How to spot a scam
How to set up a password manager.
Protect yourself with 2FA
Two-factor authentication, or 2FA, isn't a silver bullet -- but it exponentially increases your online safety by adding an extra step to the login process that a hacker/scammer does not have access to.
Every account that you care about (and even those you don't) should have some form of 2FA enabled.
Especially email -- should your email become compromised, this can become a catastrophe.
(For websites that don't support 2FA, use a burner email!)
What 2FA should I use?
2FA can take many forms, from the highly convenient (SMS, email) to the highly secure (security keys), but one thing is certain:
Any form of 2FA is better than nothing.
The simplest forms of 2FA are phone number or email. While these are very easy to use, they are unfortunately not very secure.
Still, I repeat: despite their flaws, these forms of 2FA are absolutely, 100% better than not having any 2FA at all.
On the other end of the spectrum, security keys (like for example a Yubikey) are extremely secure, but they cost money and are a bit of a hassle at time. I use them, but for most people, it's overkill.
What you want is an authenticator app.
Important
A note, before we go on…
If you enable multiple forms of 2FA, how secure your account is will depend on your weakest link.
For example, if you enable SMS authentication AND register a security key, your account will only be as safe as the SMS authentication. The security key is essentially useless.
In other words, the least secure form of 2FA you add determines the overall security of your account.
Sometimes, less is more!
Authenticator Apps
First, choose a free, reputable authenticator. Google Authenticator is a good choice. So are Aegis Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
For simplicity, we'll go with Google Authenticator; the process is rather similar for most authenticators.
First, download the app from your app store and install it on your phone.
Enrolling Gmail into GA
Securing your email should be your number 1 priority, so let's enroll a Google account to Google Authenticator.
Tumblr media
Let's enable two-step verification first.
Tumblr media
Phone number is better than nothing, but not very safe (SMS verification can be spoofed), so let's click on "Add authenticator app".
Tumblr media
Click on "Set up authenticator". Google will generate a QR-code.
Next, go back to your phone and click on the little multicolored cross. It will bring up a menu; click on "scan a QR code".
Tumblr media
Go ahead and scan the QR code.
Congratulations, you have enrolled your Google account!
Tumblr media
Now, whenever you are asked for a 2FA code, just open the app and copy/paste it.
Note: the codes are stored locally on your phone.
Enabling 2FA on Discord
The process is fairly similar. Go to Settings > My Account:
Tumblr media
Click on "Enable Authenticator App". You will be prompted for your password. Enter it.
Tumblr media
Download Google Authenticator if you haven't already. Scan the QR code as described above.
Tumblr media
Do take the time to download your backup codes as well!
As explained above, I personally do not recommend setting up SMS authentication here, since authenticator apps are supported, as this weakens the overall security of your account for little benefit.
Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3!
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Melbourne Billboard Ads: Ultimate Guide | Moving Media
Discover how billboard advertising in Melbourne drives brand visibility. Explore digital billboards, campaign strategies, and top media screens across Australia.
Tumblr media
Why Melbourne's Billboards Command Attention (And How to Leverage Them)
Melbourne isn't just Australia's cultural capital—it's a playground for brands craving visibility. The city offers a unique stage for outdoor advertising with its labyrinth of tram-lined streets, bustling laneways, and events that draw global crowds. Here's why billboards here cut through the noise:
1. Eyes Where It Matters
Melbourne's arteries—Swanston Street, Flinders Station, the MCG precinct—pulse with over a million commuters, tourists, and event-goers daily. A strategically placed billboard in these zones isn't just seen; it's experienced. Think of the Formula 1 Grand Prix or Melbourne Cup crowds, where screens become focal points for captive audiences.
2. Digital Agility Meets Urban Energy
Static posters? That's been the last decade. Melbourne's digital billboards adapt in real-time. They swap ads during rain to promote umbrellas, push café deals at dawn, or hype nightlife as the sun sets. Brands like CUB and Netflix have used this tech to launch hyper-local campaigns that feel less like ads and more like city-wide conversations.
3. Blend Online + Outdoor for Stickiness
Imagine a Flinders Street billboard triggering Instagram stories or QR codes that unlock hidden bar discounts. Melbourne's audience is wired for this—69% smartphone penetration means outdoor ads here don't just broadcast; they interact.
4. Culture as Your Canvas
Street art is in Melbourne's DNA. Brands that mirror this creativity (see RMIT's augmented reality murals or Spotify's lyric-themed installations) earn credibility. Align campaigns with festivals like Rising or White Night, and your message becomes part of the event's heartbeat.
5. Data Sharpens the Impact
Gone are spray-and-pray days. Heat mapping and foot traffic analytics let brands pinpoint screens to the hour. A CBD screen might target professionals at 8 AM, shoppers at noon, and revelers by 8 PM—all while tracking engagement via passersby social posts.
6. Flexibility Without the Fuss
Locked into a 6-month poster lease? Not here. Digital screens let you pivot campaigns weekly—or even daily. Test messages in Richmond, then shift budgets to Chapel Street if metrics sway.
The Takeaway
Melbourne's billboards work because they're more than signage—they're cultural touchpoints. Brands that harness the city's rhythm, tech, and creativity don't just get seen; they become part of Melbourne's story.

Sydney Billboards vs. Melbourne Billboards: Which is Right for You?
While Sydney billboards excel in coastal and CBD exposure, Melbourne billboard advertising thrives in cultural hotspots like Federation Square or Chapel Street. Consider:

What Is a Parking Management System? Benefits & Features Explained
Managing parking spaces efficiently has become a critical challenge for urban areas, businesses, and organizations alike. With the rise in the number of vehicles and limited parking availability, the need for advanced solutions is more pressing than ever. This is where a Parking Management System (PMS) comes into play.
A Parking Management System leverages technology to streamline parking operations, reduce congestion, and enhance the user experience. In this article, we will explore what a Parking Management System is, its key benefits, and the features that make it an indispensable tool for modern parking solutions.
What Is a Parking Management System (PMS)?
A Parking Management System is a technology-driven solution designed to optimize the management of parking spaces in various environments such as commercial buildings, shopping malls, airports, residential complexes, and urban areas. It integrates hardware, software, and data analytics to simplify the process of parking, offering features like real-time space monitoring, automated payment systems, and parking guidance.
How Does a Parking Management System Work?
A Parking Management System typically combines various technologies to deliver efficient operations:
Sensors and Cameras: Used to detect available parking spaces and monitor vehicles in real-time.

Data Analytics: Offers insights into parking patterns, occupancy rates, and revenue generation.
By integrating these components, a Parking Management System ensures seamless and efficient operations for both parking operators and users.
Benefits of a Parking Management System
A well-implemented Parking Management System offers numerous advantages for businesses, city planners, and users. Let’s look at the key benefits:
1. Enhanced Efficiency
A PMS eliminates manual interventions by automating the entire parking process. From guiding vehicles to available spaces to processing payments, every step is optimized to save time and reduce operational hassles.
2. Reduced Traffic Congestion
By guiding drivers to available parking spaces in real-time, a Parking Management System reduces the time spent searching for parking, leading to less congestion on roads.
3. Improved Revenue Management
Dynamic pricing features and automated payment systems ensure that parking spaces are utilized optimally, maximizing revenue for operators while offering fair pricing to users.
4. Better User Experience
With features like contactless entry and exit, real-time availability updates, and mobile app integration, users enjoy a seamless and stress-free parking experience.
5. Increased Security
Technologies like ANPR cameras and surveillance systems enhance the security of parking facilities by tracking vehicles and preventing unauthorized access.
6. Sustainability
By reducing traffic congestion and idling times, a Parking Management System contributes to lower carbon emissions, supporting environmental sustainability.
Key Features of a Parking Management System
A Parking Management System is equipped with several advanced features that make it a robust solution for modern parking challenges:
1. Real-Time Parking Availability
The system uses sensors and cameras to monitor the status of parking spaces and display real-time availability to users via mobile apps or dynamic signage.
2. Ticketless Parking
Eliminates the need for physical tickets by leveraging ANPR technology or QR codes, ensuring a hassle-free experience for drivers.
3. Automated Payment Systems
Supports various payment methods, including mobile wallets, credit/debit cards, and online payments, making transactions quick and secure.
4. Dynamic Pricing
Adjusts parking fees based on demand, location, and time, ensuring optimal utilization of spaces while maximizing revenue.
5. Mobile App Integration
Offers users features like parking spot reservations, navigation to available spaces, and payment processing, all from their smartphones.
6. Vehicle Tracking and Security
ANPR cameras track vehicles entering and exiting the facility, ensuring enhanced security and reducing the risk of fraud or theft.
7. Reporting and Analytics
Provides detailed insights into parking usage, revenue generation, and user behavior, enabling operators to make informed decisions.
Applications of Parking Management Systems
Parking Management Systems can be implemented in a wide range of environments, including:
Commercial Complexes: To manage high volumes of visitors efficiently.
Airports and Train Stations: For better handling of transient users and ensuring quick turnover.
Smart Cities: As part of integrated urban mobility solutions to reduce congestion.
Residential Societies: To allocate and monitor parking spaces for residents and guests.
Event Venues: For handling temporary parking demands during large events.
Challenges in Implementing Parking Management Systems
While PMS offers numerous benefits, there are some challenges to consider:
High Initial Costs: The installation of hardware and software requires significant investment.
Integration Issues: Ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure can be complex.
Data Privacy Concerns: Handling user data securely is critical to maintain trust.
Maintenance: Regular updates and repairs are essential for smooth functioning.

Things New Managers Need to Keep in Mind when Choosing a Hotel PMS
New businesses in the field of hospitality often work on a budget and they are looking for easy solutions to their day-to-day requirements. When a hotel is working on a budget, spending money on software might seem like an oversight to some managers. But savvy hotel managers understand that a reliable and modern software can pay back for itself in multiples by improving the productivity of the staff and enhancing the way things are done in a hotel.
Hotel property management software can be used in every area of the hotel. From improving room bookings to simplifying front desk operations to increasing the efficiency of housekeeping staff and much more. As the technology advances and more software makers start to use AI in their software offerings, hoteliers can expect developments that seem straight out of a science fiction movie. Here are some of the ways a hotel PMS can be used in a hotel for a wide range of applications.
Contactless check-in and check-out
QR code based menus
Integration with modern payment gateways
Housekeeping management
Cloud based access from any Internet enabled device
inventory management
Central reservation system for room bookings
Reduction of errors in data management
Improved staff productivity through timely task assignment
Guest profiles to provide personalized services
Data synchronization for best room rates
A Hotel PMS Allows Managers and Staff to Better Manage a Property
There are many ways for managers to create an efficient workflow that helps them in an ideal and profitable management of a single property or multiple properties. Here are some of the ways that managers can use the hotel property management software to improve the productivity of the staff and the experience of the guests.
1) Ease of Front-Desk Operations
The front desk of the hotel is one of the busiest areas of the hotel. Guests reach the front desk the moment they step into the hotel for checking-in and getting answers to any queries they might have. Guests also call the front desk from their rooms for any requirements or solutions to issues regarding their stay. Automating the front desk operations allows staff to give more attention to guests and enhances the guest experience in return.
With automation, guests can enjoy contactless check-in and check-out with a faster processing of their bills. There are several data entry tasks that can be easily handled by the PMS. As the staff members have less stress of handling data entry and management tasks, they can give their attention to other areas in the hotel property that need their attention.
2) Personalized Guest Experience
A guest is more likely to choose a property again if they get a memorable experience of staying there. One of the ways to give guests a stay experience worth remembering is by personalizing the stay according to the information provided by the guests. If a guest has a birthday during the stay, staff can arrange for a cake and flowers. If the guests are traveling with children, housekeeping staff can provide board games and toys for the children. Business guests can be offered airport pick-up and drop or an upgrade to faster Wi-Fi as per their requirements. A hotel PMS that keeps a track of all the data can help hotel staff in making these decisions that can enhance any guest’s stay.
3) Housekeeping Management
A fast and efficient housekeeping team can make a world of difference in how a hotel is perceived by the guests. Faster housekeeping also means the rooms are available in the hotel inventory in record time and guests do not need to wait too long for rooms to be available to them. A hotel property management software keeps track of when a guest checks-out of the hotel so that the room is assigned to the housekeeping staff for cleaning. As soon as the housekeeping staff is done with cleaning the room, they can mark the job as done on their cloud connected mobile device and the room is instantly available in the hotel inventory.
4) Better Communication with Guests
There are several ways in which hotels can communicate effectively with their guests. Once a guest chooses the hotel for their stay, sending a welcome email/text can be easily accomplished by the PMS. The hotel PMS takes the guest data from the booking information provided by the guests so that there are no instances of errors in the guest’s name or the date of their stay. The PMS can also send feedback emails and send occasional discount codes to guests that might want to choose the hotel for their stay again. The feedback gathered from the guests can help the property in improving their services and giving guests an improved experience for future stays.
Conclusion
Software is the bedrock on which a successful hotel business is established. In today’s times, it is a must for managers to choose software that can supercharge their business activities and help them exceed guest expectations. Every hotel property has a unique workflow in regards to the guest traffic they receive and the number of rooms in their inventory. Hoteliers need to choose the right software for their needs.

i don't even feel the taste of beer anymore. i'm such an idiot. i suddenly felt so fucking anxious i couldn't handle it so i went to the corner and bought three beers. i'm also high. i think i know why it happened. my music production class. my song wasn't up to par. even if my teacher liked my songwriting, the mix and the sound selection were poor. and i was soo disappointed because i tried really hard. or at least i tried really hard for me, which is maybe not a lot, but definitely better than other people who do a whole ass song in less than a day. it takes me around five hours, or seven to come up with a fucking demo. that's so fucking embarrassing. but i don't know, i work like 1-2 hours every day but i should be working at least four. i think that would make me a better producer. i feel the pressure of the ep release next week. i couldn't keep up with my marketing plan because the video girl didn't have the trailer done by the day i put it on the calendar. i'm so fucking tired. i have so much shit to do. we need to rehearse four new songs and the gig is in two weeks. i'm freaking out. it needs to go well. should i do an english version of the press release? just to be ready before the trip to la. i know it's a holiday but i'm thinking of working there too. marketing, marketing, marketing. and go to studios, leave a qr sticker code in the reception or something. ask for a studio tour. i should investigate but i literally have one (1) brain cell left.

What Times Does Cash App Direct Deposit Hit? [Find Out!]
What time does Cash App direct deposit hit and how long does the debit take? You need answers to these queries before you set up your Cash App for receiving checks. Cash App direct deposits, depending on the originating bank, debit your account at around 11.30 AM CST. The deposit may also reflect at around 12.30 PM EST. Generally, your account receives the check, 2 days earlier than a traditional check deposit.
Tumblr media
If you wish to get your paycheck or government benefits via P2P platform, Cash App offers the service, and in an expedited manner. You can enable the service using a form that’s generated by the app and sent to the payer.
This post guides you on how the deposits work, which routing number to use when you should expect the payment, and how to view the transactions. Read on to learn common Cash App direct deposit issues and how to resolve them. We shall also be looking at the reliability of the deposits.
Let’s get started…
How Does Cash App Direct Deposit Work? How To Set Up?
To provide direct deposits via Cash App, the sender needs the routing and account numbers associated with your Cash App account. This feature is provided by both Lincoln Savings Bank and Sutton Bank.
All Cash App users have unique account numbers and a general routing number used for direct deposit setup.
For a new user, after you sign up for a Cash App Account, you need to order a Cash Card to enable direct deposit. Pssst. Use my free Cash app referral code “ZFXCWHR“ during sign-up to earn a $5 bonus after you use the app to send $5. To get a customizable Visa card for your Cash App, go to the app’s home screen and click the Cash Card tab.
From the next menu, tap Get Cash Card followed by tapping Continue, and following the prompts. Once your card is approved, you should be able to access your direct deposit details. If not, your card should arrive in 10 days or less, after which you need to activate it to know the banking details associated with it.
Follow the steps below to activate your new Cash App card:
Click the Cash Card tab from the home screen then touch the Cash Card image.
Click Activate Cash Card to open your camera for scanning your card’s unique QR code.
To know the account number and the routing number related to your Cash App:
From the Cash App home screen, click the Banking tab.
Below the account balance, you’ll find the Cash APP routing number and account numbers.
You can copy and share the numbers when requested by the depositor.
The person or business paying may also insist on a duly filled Cash App direct deposit form. To get the form:
Go to the home screen and click the Money tab.
Click Direct Deposit then choose to Fill Out a Form under manual setup.
Key in all the required details including the payment amount and your signature.
Choose Email Form to enter the depositor’s address and tap Send.
Cash App Direct Deposit Limits And Benefits
The Direct Deposit feature allows you to receive checks of up to $25,000 per check. Your Cash App Direct Deposit Limit within a day (24-hour period) is $50,000. The feature makes it possible to get paid 50 times over what you can receive on Cash App from a payer using your $Cashtag, email, or mobile phone number to send you cash.
Other benefits of getting paid via Cash App’s direct deposit include:
You get an automatically generated form that captures your account and routing numbers.
The form is sent via email, right from your Cash App, to ensure authenticity.
You can access all of your debit statements.
You can use the routing information to pay bills via direct deposit.
Cash App expedites your deposits, faster than many banks.
Direct deposit on Cash App enables you to receive stimulus checks, tax refunds, and unemployment benefits fast.
How Long Does it Take to Receive a Cash App Direct Deposit?
After the payer releases the funds, it takes 1 to 5 business days for a Cash App direct deposit to show in your account. Cash App assures its users that they release the funds as soon as the company receives them.
The time taken for the processing and release of direct deposits depends on how fast your bank is. Expect to get your money between Monday and Friday. If the funds don’t show within 5 days, get in touch with the customer support team at Cash App to log a dispute.
What Times Does Cash App Direct Deposit Hit Typically?
Direct deposits typically hit in a day and a few hours early provided there are no holidays. In the Central Standard Time zone, for example, in Lowa and Arkansas, Cash App users get direct deposits at around 11.30 AM.
Users in the Eastern Standard Time zone, for example, Delaware and New Hampshire, receive the deposits at around 12.30 PM. In the UK, users get the funds around 11 AM to 12 AM CST.
The time may vary depending on the time your bank initiated the transfer and the transaction volumes being handled by the Automatic Clearing House network at the time. Holidays and weekends can also increase the processing period for your deposits since Cash App does not process such transfers outside of business days.
How to View Your Cash App Direct Deposit Transactions?
To help you keep tabs on your direct deposit payments, Cash App makes your account statements available within 5 days of the end of each month.
You can access your transfers’ history on the in-app B ”Account Statements” page:
Launch and sign in to Cash App.
On the home screen, tap the user Icon.
Scroll down and choose Documents.
Click Account Statements.
You can also view the statements via the Cash App website; after you log in, click the Statements button to get to the monthly statement you wish to view.
Your bank also provides monthly or yearly statements, where you can find details of all of your transfers to and from Cash App.
Cash App Direct Deposit Issues
There are several issues associated with direct deposits across the board. Such problems include declined deposits, funds taking longer to hit your Cash App, and pending transfers.
Some of the issues are technical and may affect large numbers of Cash App users, while others are a result of user mistakes. Below are the common Cash App direct deposit issues and how to solve them.

All in all a fun experience - would be down to pay for a ticket next time (no more than $80 tho). Probably the afternoon show too so it's easier to get home lol. Tho knowing AWR, if they are in charge again they will probably skip NYC for DC, alternating back and forth between years.
Hopefully they'll change the set list to be less "cinematic" and more "greatest hits". Cuz I am pretty sure most players don't go out of their way to listen to the stuff that plays in cutscenes.
Crowd was respectful and it was fun to get the full mix of casual, formal, and cosplay wear.
Merch was available at a kiosk or via a website for preorder (staff had QR codes for the website, tho apparently if you actually ordered a ticket via Carnegie you were aware of the site beforehand.) A lot of the stuff was already sold out by the time I got there - I arrived around 6:35 pm and doors opened 6:30... There was already a modest line that quickly sprawled out down the stairwell around 7:15 when I got my hands on my goodies.
The commemorative ticket was handed out with the playbill when you went to your seat.
They did a great job with Rapid as Wildfires so that alone made me happy - the opening section is hard and they nailed it. That song has a special place in my heart. Was so worried after hearing bootlegs of Guadalajara and Boston concerts struggling to sound coherent.
Hustle and Bustle of Ormos is also the crown jewel of the Sumeru tracks (fite me) and I am glad I got to hear it live.
The Inazuma pieces were the only real disappointment in terms of sound balance and musicality where I was not expecting it. The finale portion of Against the Invisible Net was just drums and tambourine to my ears.
(also one of the 1st violin's strings imploded through the second piece so that was... something. It was quickly resolved tho so it didn't affect the overall performance - even if it's a PUG orchestra the musicians are clearly professionals)
But yeah all in all as long as you temper your expectations this was a entertaining experience. And imo the NYC showing felt more polished than what I was hearing from the other recordings so... General positive trends?
7/10 once you factor in the experience of the crowds and atmosphere, 6/10 for the music performance itself. Just. Please get an erhu. Koto subbing for guzheng, fine. Flute subbing for dizi, I'll take it. Guitar subbing for pipa, eh ok. But Zhongli's theme was just not it. No erhu, violin was drowned out, drop was not properly executed. If I had going in not knowing it would be an issue that would have been so disappointing. Hell, maybe even the electric guitar might have been a better sub just so it could carry over the drums.

Concert seat get
Hopefully the free ticket from hoyo won't tank the gatcha luck this year as compensation

okay im rewriting tgcf (only in my head im lazy) here are my notes on hua/lian specifically this is long bc fuck it. major spoilers obviously and same trigger warnings as the content of the book
disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer that i dont know anything about the cultural background of anything in tgcf or story tropes etc etc this is just I Think It Would Be Neat If..
there’s not really any reason to keep hc as a kid in the backstory BUT in the story in the intro (which i like narratively) it still says that it was a child who xie lian caught. it’s one of those things that got added to the legend to make xie lian seem even more noble, there are also probably a few other inaccuracies in the intro that get found out as the story progresses. in actuality hc was kind of a known troublemaker to the city guards or whatever or had been in the past. maybe his mother just passed after a long illness and his tumble off the wall was intentional. either way he’s kind of pissed at xie lian for saving him. xie lian is concerned about his health so he has to stay at the palace for a while he recovers and only interacts with xie lian a few times. there is a point where he says out loud all the things about the divide between the rich and the poor that have been illustrated by the scenes with mu qing. feng xin tells him to shut up but mq goes dead silent bc he kind of agrees but can’t say and does have his loyalty to xie lian (its a whole thing) and the resentment begins
also i think young hc’s personality is similar to his personality in the present but a bit more reserved and he’s got like this plucky streak or something. also he is unquestionably gay
anyway hc sneaks out of the palace and xie lian catches him obviously but they have a brief little heart to heart where xie lian is like “look you can go if you want here take this money food” etc and demonstrates that he has actually listened to what hc has to say and hc is like “wow no one other than my mom has ever listened to me in my life so thats what that feels like i kind of like it” and he probably is a bit awestruck by xie lian in different ways and after that is like “okay this kingdom sucks but.. that guys not so bad”
sad ironic sense that if xie lian hadnt ascended until he was older he may have actually be able to do something about the problems in the kindgom but alas we have a cycle to perpetuate
the “take me as the meaning of your life” scene still happens p much the same but xl doesnt recognize hc who is actually now at his lowest point. hc tried to find ways to make things better for people like him but he simply did not succeed (maybe his were efforts quashed by the corrupt authorities? its implied probably) and he’s more disillusioned with the kingdom and life than ever but still is holding on to those memories of xie lian as proof that it doesnt have to be like this but that thread is slipping until!! whose fucking voice is that??? thats right its the one person you ever believed was truly good and went and proved you right by ascending to the heavens at age 17!!! guess its time to stan him forever
anyway hc joins the army but legally or whatever and tbh i would have hated the flower cave scene regardless of anything i just hate any sort of s*x pollen trope or anything so thats gone (they can have a wound tending scene or something tho thats the good shit) and instead we have HL getting overwhelmed by some other demons or something together and xie lian protects hc and they both get injured very badly (maybe hc would lose a limb but im not sure how that would work once hes a ghost so thats on hold for now until i figure it out) and xl is fine but this situation ends up being part of why mq kicks hc out of the army but yes hc still ends up dying on the battlefield anyway </3
the wuming stuff is the same i think but also at some point xl is despairing and says something about that guy he saved from falling and wonders what happened to him and fire ghost wuming is like !!!!! (wait does this happen in canon? honestly it should)
in mount tong’lu i was tempted to actually have hc have a similar moment to the bamboo hat scene with the humans who are trapped in there but im not sure if i just want it to be the same as xie lian’s story... also i like the idea of hc needing to hang onto his devotion to get through his first few centuries of being a ghost so maybe he’s just inspired by xie lian’s sacrifice with the sword and the souls and thats why he claws his own eye out as a sacrifice
so this can go one of two ways from here!!! both are me projecting hardcore so take them with a grain of salt im not saying im right about the way relationships should be these a re just my thoughts <3
1. (the not fun one but it still has a happy ending) the story more or less continues the same as canon. pure and simple devotion is what carries hc through the centuries. we get to see some ghost city antics and its fun but there is nothing complicated about the devotion hc just wants to find xl and protect him. hualian eventually meet. they get along pretty well!! eventually there are cracks. when you hold someone in your mind for so long you have expectations for them that no person can meet consistently. hc thinks that since he’s seen xl during the worst time in his life that he can handle anything but it turns out that as amazing as xl is, he is also just a person and sometimes he is wrong or irrational or annoying. xl is so happy to have someone who will listen to him talk that he kind of neglects to really get to know who hc is as a person and hc is kind of like “huh i didnt expect this but im kind of hurt. i genuinely thought that i just wanted to serve and protect you but actually im my own person and this is weird” but he doesnt say anything he thinks he has to stick to his promise and it gets kind of uncomfortable!! maybe his luck goes haywire bc his faith gets rocked for the first time ever and they end up having to talk it out but their relationship is stronger for it <3
2. (i think this one is fun) hc struggles with waiting. he does it but its hard. he has doubts and when all his efforts to find xl are fruitless he starts to grow bitter and curses the day that xl saved him. his faith burns low but doesnt go out. then ghost city!! hc realizes that he can finally help people like him, even if theyre ghosts now and hes grateful for the chance to do this and grateful to xl and resigns himself to waiting. but its still hard!! he realizes that his luck is tied to his devotion and gets kind of pissed about it!!! he tries to remember all the good things about xl but its hard!!! his search becomes more about repaying a debt so he can be free than anything else, he just wants to help the common people spirits with no strings attached (this actually allows him to keep his luck bc he has the same wish as xl and thats what makes him a true believer!! is this corny? does it make sense? i dont care) and so eventually when he finds xl he’s like okay how quickly can i repay this debt/how can i keep my powers but then xie lian is... so good... and hc actually really likes him he remembers why he swore his devotion in the first place. now hes conflicted!!! dont worry they fall in love tho <3
wow this was really long if you read this hiiiii. anyway when i reread ill try to pay more attention to yin yu and he xuan for hc’s 800 years. hua cheng we’re gonna get you some friends and lore i swear to god

2 Monarchs, 3 Prime Ministers, and one enormous cluster$*#@
Leaving Canada on August 27th, Queen Elizabeth was the stable monarch, Boris Johnson was the Prime Minister, (albeit it on the ropes), and all seemed relatively stable in the U.K. Oh, how wrong I was.
Boris was ousted, Liz was accepted by the Queen, who promptly passed away 2 days later, leaving the U.K. with a leader with less than 48 hours of experience, and the monarch who had provided stability for 70 years gone. Liz Truss comes from an interesting background, with neither parent a Conservative, and her decisions in her brief stay at 10 Downing Street will probably have her mathematic professor father shaking his head for many years to come, as both markets and the pound sterling crashed, (that’s been a silver lining for us tourists). After a shocking 45 days of total chaos, the Conservatives ousted her, (don’t let her “resignation” fool you), and have now replaced her with a billionaire boy Rishi Sunak, (called “Dishi Rishi” by some), just crowned days ago by his party, after a threat of a return by Boris was squashed.
Really, you couldn’t make this up! It’s been an incredibly entertaining time to be here as a visitor, although I suspect not as a resident. It’s all quite embarrassing really, for a group of countries who stand on traditions, and whose nation is one of only 8 full democracies in the world. Having 2 appointed PM’s in 2 months, 6 Chancellors, (like the Minster of Finance for my Canadian readers), in 3 months, and 2 Heads of State, (QR Elizabeth, and now Charles). What a cock up. Here are a few of my favourite memes I’ve seen over the past few weeks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that Rishi’s in office, many people think the crisis has been averted. I contend that yes, he’s been able to temporarily stabilize things, but that there are very real crisis’ on the horizon, including steering the U.K. to a meaningful Brexit agreement with the rest of Europe, and some experts don’t think he has the vision it takes to overcome them. I’ll add a link to an interesting article in The Economist in another post as it won’t let me add it here.
Then there’s that tricky little matter of Scottish Independence. If you don’t think the shit show that’s just gone down hasn’t moved some previous fence sitters to the side of Independence then you’re drinking the Conservative special blend of Koolaid. Without lifting a finger Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Nationalist Party have had the question answered about how bad it could be to leave. Wow, so many unintended consequences.
All I know is that it’s not a great time to be living here. While Canada is not without it’s issues, at least our current leader in an elected one.

☆Japan Trip 2019 Day 1 Part 1: RE:Start☆
こんにちわ、ひさし ぶり
...erm hello it’s been a while. Nearly a year and a half if I’m not mistaken.
It’s been...one heck of a year. 2018. I took a first step that was beyond my wildest dreams. And it only got more...wondrous. I met a longtime friend for the first time for an unforgettable night. I broke out of my shell and had the pleasure to meet and play Pokemon with people I had never met and they were some of the nicest people I had ever met. I got to meet the man who helped me feel a little less misunderstood in the world and tell him how much his work has helped me. And cried into his shoulders I even got to see a childhood hero sing right in front of me and sing a song that just...carries a lot of emotions for me.
It was something. Last year.
But it wasn’t all roses
I started to...fall back into bad habits. Old patterns started to show up again. I started hurting those that were just trying to help. Making decisions I knew would make me unhappy. Starting to choose to be lonely rather than be alone for my own good. Making the wrong people happy.
But I fought on. Because shortly after I returned from my last trip, it was decided that I would be returning to my happy place. The place where I took my first step. A place where all of my dreams came true and more. It was decided that I, along with some friends, would be returning to Japan for Spring 2019. For some of them it would be an exciting first time: they had never been so it was going to be something memorable. For others, it was a chance to try out things that they missed out on last time. And in part it was the same for me as well.
But it was more than just that. For me, it was the next step. It was time to see if I really had made any meaningful progress. If I had really changed for the better in any way since the last time I was here. It was...as odd as it is to say, a reality check.
And so despite a rough few months leading up to the trip, the time finally arrived. It was time to take off and return to Japan. Let’s a go-go~★
Tumblr media
Popplio is ready to take off★ Prepare to see my friend more than once as he is my partner on this ride this time ^_^
...is what I’d be saying if we actually took off at that time Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)
So unfortunately as soon as we boarded the plane, it was announced that the plane had broken down in some fashion. They tried their best at fixing it on the spot but sadly it just did not happen. So we had to leave and it was announced that our next plane would arrive five hours later at soonest. This made a lot of people disgruntled and at the time I wasn’t bothered by it. Oh boy was that a mistake in retrospect.
At any rate I had planned on eating the lunch provided on the plane but since that didn’t happen, we were all given basically free lunches by the airline a la discount coupons that basically covered full meals from pretty much all of the surrounding restaurants. So I ate, played some Pokemon Platinum (starting Piplup was a...mistake? I don’t know I’ll let you know as I make more progress) and eventually, despite the chaotic scramble, we were all boarded and ready to take off for Japan.
Tumblr media
Ok this time for sure. I hope >_<;
Tumblr media
Our...dinner? Breakfast? Time was a super messed concept for me at this point. being up for practically 16+ hours and running off of...maybe one nap. Send help x_x
Tumblr media
But eventually, we made itttttttt
I did it! I made it to Japan! Things can only start getting better from this point on!
...and again, if only things were that easy =x
So let’s start off with something I realized the moment we landed: my lodgings were fairly far away. Like about an hour or so away from the airport. I had stayed with them previously so I recalled that they had curfew hours. Knowing that, I started to change over my SIM card that my favorite recommended to me and my other friends so that I would have data in Japan so I could contact my lodgings and tell them that I’d be running late.
Turns out the SIM card was not. I repeat. NOT. Compatible with my phone. No fault of anyone’s really, my phone and the SIM card just didn’t play well. Everyone else had a grand time with the SIM card so if you’d like to have a nice simple SIM card, delivered to your house prior to your travels, not to mention coming with a bunch of free boons, why not give it a chance? It was a shame it didn’t work out but now it’s all water under the bridge so all is well ☆
I immediately start panicking. It was around 11 PM, I’m still in line for customs, I have no immediate access to data (and therefore directions), the vast majority of all of the places selling SIMs and Pocket WiFis were closed, and even if I rung up directions, by the time I got out of airport customs with all of my stuffs, I would basically be catching the last trains the whole entire way until I got to my lodgings at approximately 1 AM.
Basically I needed access to train maps right away and I needed to not miss any of the trains I needed to catch. Otherwise I’d be out of luck.
Push came to shove and I decided to start roaming on my phone. It was a costly option but dammit this was an emergency and I’m on vacation. I have money to burn. Sort of. >~<
I hastily called up maps, navigated my way from the metro up to the Skytree line, and with the luck of the Gods, the stars aligned and as I started to make my way to the last train, I was told by a friendly officer that the last train I needed to catch was stalled for just a few minutes just to accommodate for any remaining stragglers. I thanked the officer and rushed my butt up the platform to a completely packed train. Running up the platform with no room to comfortably squeeze in, I thought to myself “screw it”, hauled my luggage, used it as a means of opening up space (and since this is a normal affair for Japanese subways, they immediately made enough space for me and my luggage, bless) and I was able to get onto my last train in time. I also managed to get in touch with the Manager of my lodgings and he told me he’d be up waiting since he was still expecting customers to come in anyway. Super blesss.
I pull into a familiar sight. Nisharai station. The last time I was here it was all unfamiliar territory. Now walking down those steps felt like re-visiting an old friend, and despite being in a rush, I still had enough time to really be in the moment. I was back.
After getting setup at my lodgings and quietly putting my stuff away, I sadly realized that I had no chance to really have dinner. Plus I was still fairly tired at this point so I quickly hopped into the showers and hit the hay. It was a very long day. But in the end I made it. I’m back in Japan. And it was time to start going down a very long list of personally important things that I wanted to do get to this time around
Tumblr media
Good morning Nishiarai. It has been a long time my old friend★
Despite everything I didn’t sleep very well. A combination of jet lag and a general sense of fatigue that just wouldn’t go away no matter long I slept had me...groggy at best. Nonetheless, I somehow pulled myself out of my slumber; after last night’s mishaps, I was ready to make up for all of it. I was going to give myself the right start that I was hoping for since I got here. So after ordering myself my pocket WiFi from EConnect (bless their hearts they are amazing), I knew what the first thing I was going to do was. It was one of my more fonder memories from last time and this was going to mark the start of a good day
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kohikannn★
For this trip, I decided that I am going to try out more coffee places this time around. Kohikan really surprised me last time and opened my world to just how delicious properly made coffee could be and I was looking forward to seeing what some of the other coffee shops in Japan had to offer. But more on that later~
After having a nice hearty breakfast and a delicious cup of coffee, my next stop would be a Lawson Mini-Stop. Which is basically a Lawsons but smaller? I couldn’t quite tell you the difference to be honest. But at any rate my reason for visiting one is because....
Tumblr media
How do I work this darned thing
This is Loppi. Long story short, the convenience store chain Lawson has a system where you could order tickets for a variety of events: concerts, sports games, cultural events, you name it. As long as you’re able to navigate the Lawson website or the Loppi terminal, you could place your order, input some information and a confirmation pin, print out your ticket, pay the price printed on the ticket, and voila: you have yourself a ticket to the event you wanted to attend☆ Sadly my reading skills were not yet at a point where I could confidently navigate the terminal but thankfully there was a dummy option of scanning a given QR code (which I had) and that made it all the more easier to get my ticket. A ticket for what was probably one of the most important and memorable nights of my trip.
Tumblr media
Last year I went to go see MAMY live, one of, if not my most favorite Japanese band out right now. This year, the stars aligned and I was given the opportunity to see not one but two of my favorite bands live: SECONDWALL and AliA. When this live was announced I could not believe my eyes and while making reservations wasn’t easy, I still made the attempt: I wasn’t going to miss out on an opportunity of a lifetime
To be honest, once I had paid for the ticket I felt a huge sense of relief: I really wanted to have the opportunity to see the stars in my sky once more and have the chance to tell these people just how important their music was to me. Now all that was left to do was hope that everything would turn out fine on the day of the live. Now with that burden off my shoulders, I took off with a hop, step and jump towards my next stop☆
Last time I was here I made a memorable visit to Kiyosumi-Shirakawa on a whim and it was arguably one of the more memorable and important parts of that trip. I had however had after the fact that it was known for housing some fairly top notch coffee shops, and so I decided to try one of them out and see what it was like. But I there were also a few places I wanted to visit first, so it was time to get back to what I loved doing best
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Park, right next to the gardens! What led me here (aside from the scenery) was....
Tumblr media
Volbeat! This is one of the more odd regionals, currently only available on the East Hemisphere. Now to find some Farfetch’d and Zangoose★
Tumblr media
There was a school trip happening around the main area. I didn’t stick around long so it wouldn’t be awkward
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snack time~★
After walking around the park and playing Pokemon GO for a bit, I wanted to revisit the gardens to see if any seasonal flowers popped up this time around (there was nothing the last time I was there; unsurprising considering that it was winter when I last visited =x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty flowers!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As always this place is beautiful☆
Tumblr media
There was a bit of an early/late hanami going on here? There was surprisingly less sakura in here than I expected
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our water denizens! Also every black spot in that last picture is a tadpole. There were A LOT of tadpoles
Tumblr media
A brave turtle majestically posing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later days Kiyosumi Gardens! Until we meet again~★
As tradition calls for, I...relaxed and reflected in this garden for a bit. While I didn’t hit as much of a “eureka” as I did last time, I came to realize that despite all of my recent setbacks that maybe...I was a bit on the right path. I remembered what it was that made me happy and however heavy the burdens may be back home, I should not lose sight of what’s important to me and continue to try for what makes me happy in a meaningful way. Being here made me happy in a meaningful way. Changed me for the better. I had come this far: not just by taking the first step but also thanks to the support of my most precious friends and family that have been there for both of my happiest and saddest moments. I remembered what drove me to come here in the first place and how it resulted in me meeting one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever had the pleasure to encounter.
A singer who upon hearing her voice, hearing her sing...inspires me to get up and try again. And again. And while that may not be the deepest reason out there, music has been a very important part of my life, expressing everything I never could. Expressing my happiness where words failed and expressing my sadness when it was too hard to say anything.
And that’s a lot of the reason why I travel halfway across the world, to visit Japan: to meet the people whose music have helped me so much when nothing else could. To meet the people that inspire me, tell them how amazing they are and...maybe try to see and understand what inspires them to be the the way that they are
To hopefully tap into some of that inspiration and...someday hopefully become someone that can help and inspire others in a meaningful way. At least what’s I hope for  (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) ☆
Feeling a little more peaceful inside, it was time to move forward. For now it is time for coffee! But that part of the journey is best saved for a different time. There’s quite a bit more from that day to share so I will save that for a different time
Until then,
Tumblr media
See you next time ☆

Kyoto travel log, week 0
I’ve been in Kyoto, Japan for several days now and am still experiencing sensory overwhelm - in a way, my world does not seem to be capable of slowing down enough for me to type this entry.
In my first few days I encountered a lot of logistical troubles and had to get out of them myself. I’m still reeling from the impact of them. Resolving small issues like that help me build confidence that I really am an adult and capable of handling the unexpected.
In this entry I’ll be talking about what my journey was like starting from my flight and ending on the second night!
Tumblr media
My flight
I had a layover in Honolulu, HI. They gave us pineapple-shaped shortbread cookies called “Honolulu Cookies,” which were adorable!
Flights are exhausting for me and I know I’m not the only one, but at the same time they are hyperstimulating. I always plan enough activities to do on my flights and end up not doing any of them. In this case I had brought along a book and journal but, the ambience was not conducive to studying, so I journaled a bit (i.e. documented what I’m typing now). I also watched two movies: Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave (monumentally touching - hoping to review that later), and BL Metamorphosis, about a young girl and old woman who bond over their love of BL comics (the premise is quite cute, but I didn’t end up finishing it).
My connecting flight was 9 hours long and this one was so painful for me to sit through. I was a bit dehydrated and the impact of what I was doing started to hit. When you’re physically trapped and unable to act right away and sleep-deprived you can get into a habit of catastrophizing about everything and wishing you could return to a less stimulating baseline. This was what I was wrestling with: an unstable mix of nerves and extreme excitement.
Finally! We arrived at Kansai International Airport (KIX) in the Osaka region (note: I’d thought KIX was located in Osaka but it’s only located in the region, not Osaka City).
Descending the plane and immigration
An automated airport shuttle took all of us international arrivals to the line for immigration.
I met a lot of talkative people in line. There was a lady who was visiting her best friend, a fluent Japanese speaker, in Osaka, and neither of us knew what was going on or what we needed to do with our QR codes for immigration. (For Japan, you had to either fill out an analog or digital set of forms for immigration and customs. The digital versions had QR codes to scan for expedited processing.) I also met two other students; all of our baggage got left behind in Honolulu and there was this whole confusion with the airport staff, but I won’t get into that.
There was so much Japanese around me even though we were in line for non-Japanese-nationals. The trickle of sounds was so intriguing, disconcerting. Everywhere I looked were airport signs in kanji, some of what I could vaguely understand with my rudimentary knowledge of Chinese. There was no place to sit, only a single bathroom in the middle, though the line moved fairly quickly.
Immigration took 1 hour 30 mins. I took a longer time at the window because of my student visa. By the time I reached baggage claim all the other people I was in line with had left and then I had to sort out the luggage mishap.
I stepped out of baggage claim deprived of 90lb of possessions with just my backpack and wallet and phone. It was 10:30 PM and all the kiosks had been shut down, including currency exchange and the tourist info booth (which I’d hoped to get help from). The outer shell of the airport was lit-up but the place felt so empty and devoid of friendliness. I looked behind me and the internationals arriving after me looked like they knew where they were going. I had to go find my hotel (located right in the airport) but the airport was so big I didn’t know where to go. I must’ve paced back and forth for 20 mins, scrutinizing -to-death the electronic airport map, feeling more scared by the minute as the outside sky grew inky. Then I found an emergency airport hotline and thankfully the lady on the other line spoke English and gave me directions.
I had to walk past the train station to get to my hotel. I tried to speak Japanese to the receptionist, just a simple ありがとうございます but my tongue felt gummy and I messed up in the middle, and she finished the phrase for me (... sweatdrop). I bowed clumsily, took my key card, made it to my room and passed out.
Day 2: Konbini and train
Woke up super early due to jetlag. Was not feeling all too confident because of last night’s events.
Boiled some water and headed out to grab some breakfast at the convenience store (konbini).
There was a dizzying array of ready-to-eat foods. Pastries, egg and fruit sandwiches, salads, refrigerated udon and ramen, onigiri. And an entire aisle of ramen and curries. I got a カレー rice which turned out to have meat in it, seaweed onigiri, dried nuts & fruits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that I packed everything and checked out of the hotel. I knew I had a long day ahead of me and was feeling the effects of jetlag pretty strongly. My first task was to retrieve my SIM card and install it, then get train tickets and commute to Kyoto and find my second guesthouse.
When I got to the ticket booth I realized I should have lined up way sooner, when I first came out for breakfast, because at that time it had just opened and there were only about 10 people but now the line wrapped around the corner and there must have been at least 100 people. All around me I was hearing Korean and Chinese so I surmised that this was the line for short-term passes. Thankfully you could also buy IC (rechargeable) cards here, so I got mine ( ¥500 card deposit,  ¥2000 total).
Managed to come out and take a few pictures of the airport during the day.
Tumblr media
Communication blunder of the day: I didn’t know where the train station was. It happened to be directly across from the ticket sales haha but all I saw was a giant banner with JR [Kanji] and I didn’t know what JR was, so I asked the person in front of the ticket/card reader. I knew this was a station of some sort, what I wanted to know was if it was the 電車 (densha) or if it went underground 地下鉄 (chikatetsu). He interpreted it as me asking the name of the station and not what type of station it was, so he kept saying “This is Kansai station! This is Kansai!”
Tumblr media
After I got through and found my train, here, you can see it for yourself. The train was so clean and cute!

To be continued...
