Bruce Wayne may have an orphan adoption problem, but Jack Fenton has a supervillain friend problem.
Jack meets Lex Luthor when visiting his labs to install a ghost shield. Jack thinks they really hit it off! (They did not.)
Jack doesn't have a lot of friends he can talk science with, and "Lexy" doesn't seem to have a lot of friends period, so Jack makes a point of dropping by (unannounced) frequently to give his new best bud a break from the stress of his day-to-day.
And when Jack discovers Lexy has a son around the same age as Danny, any hope Lex had of prying this barnacle loose from his side vanished entirely.... Playdates are now a thing.
Phantom and Young Justice will have to team up, however, when Jack accidentally joins the Legion of Doom! (Is he aware it's not a social club? Of course not.)
Its a race between the Legion of Doom using FentonWorks inventions to subjugate the Ghost Zone, and through them, the living world, and Jack accidentally bringing the Legion of Doom to its knees from the inside.

Justice League Versus The Legion of Doom character concept: Batman.
Biography: When his parents were gunned down in Crime Alley, Bruce Wayne swore to make sure nobody else would suffer the same injustice. In his never endearing fight against crime, he has gained many allies, and almost as many enemies. But no matter how bad things seem, his allies know that the Batman is a symbol of hope, not fear.
Play style: An all around fighter with a variety of gadgets, Batman has no shortage of options to fight with. But as versatile as he is, his special moves like high damage, so combos are the way to get the big numbers.
Ground Combos: fourteen.
Air combos: None.
Special moves:
Cape stun: Batman swings with his cape, stunning the opponent if in range.
Falling Bat: Batman detonates a smoke bomb, then drops down from above.
Advancing Justice: Batman fires his grapple gun, pulling him in for a kick, enhance for a stun state.
Batarang Toss: Batman throws a batarang.
Crusader Counter: Batman covers himself in his cape. If the opponent hits him, he does a small series of hits like the Arkham games.
Throw: Batman does a brief series of hits before kneeing them away.
Character Trait:
Wayne Tech: Batman calls one of three Wayne inventions depending on the commands:
Shock gloves: Batman’s punch attacks now do extra damage.
Bats: Batman can use three miniature mechanical bats to increase combo length.
Explosive Gel: Batman can fire out an explosive gel trap in the floor, acting as a ground trap:
Super move:
I am the night: Begins with a series of advancing punches. Batman throws a batarang that attracts a swarm of bats to flock around the opponent. The screen goes to the opponent’s point of view, watching the bats clear away for Batman to land a hard kick to the opponent’s face.
Victory cinematic:
Batman gets a call on his gauntlet and grapples away, the scene cuts to him driving the Batmobile, looking across his rogues gallery.
Some dialogue:
Batman: Why work with Lex Luthor?
Joker: Why spoil the surprise?
Batman: It could spare you the trouble of losing.
Batman: Have you been training?
Nightwing: Every day and night.
Batman: Tim told me otherwise.
Batman: Not now, Selina.
Catwoman: We’re still on for tonight, right?
Batman: We’ll… talk about it later.
Batman: You’re new to me.
Despero: I’ll destroy all of you!
Batman: We’ll see.
Story:
Batman watches a small villain meeting from a gargoyle: Hm.
Green Lantern: What do you see?
Batman: Deadshot and Cheetah are close to each other. Sinestro and Despero just left. No sign of Joker or Harley.
Green Lantern: That reminds me, while we’re doing this, who’s handling the other rogues in your city?
Batman: Red Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing are on patrol, Oracle providing intel. They can keep Gotham safe for the time being. In the meantime, we need to get a closer look.
*Green Lantern is gone, pulling the stealth disappearing act.*
Batman: Hm. That’s how it feels.
----
Superman: I'm glad you came to the anniversary.
Batman: Someone had to pay for all the balloons.
Wonder-Woman: And I assume that your children want a piece of the cake?
Batman:
Batman: Alfred also wants a piece.

favorite era of superman comics?
Right now. His mainline books are both good for the first time since Busiek/Johns. Waid's quality has been dipping, but his World's Finest has been a very lovely portrayal of that friendship for me, and I think the upcoming Kingdom Come arc might reinvigorate the book. We've got a great lineup of Elseworld Superman books with Space Age, Last Days of Lex Luthor, Lost, and '78: The Metal Curtain. Watters wrote the first enjoyable Doomsday story for me in ages with that special, and Casey's Kneel Before Zod series aiming to make Zod into the Dr. Doom of the DCU sounds like a great direction for Zod. Not to mention both Williamson and PKJ are actually trying to use the Rogues in new ways, with Williamson's Livewire being the best since Mark Millar's take on her in the Superman Adventures comic, and PKJ's use of Mongul and Metallo unlocking those characters' potential for me. Steelworks and Superboy: Man of Tomorrow are solid if nothing extraordinary, Kenan is getting some backups written by Yang, Power Girl has a new series coming, and Supergirl has a special that might lead into a new ongoing. Next year we will get a Brainiac event which will hopefully be the first "good" Superman event since... hell I don't know. Death/Reign/Return? Right now is the strongest the Superman line has ever been.
There's no way it can last. We already have a huge weak spot in Jon Kent, who is unsalvageable at this point, and apparently Taylor is still going to be writing him in upcoming books. Maybe Knight Terrors being shit will derail the line, or hurt the sales for the upcoming Brainiac event. Hell despite the buildup I can't even promise the Brainiac event will be good. Williamson is 0/2 when it comes to events, and he's writing so many books I expect he will either burn out and depart some, or suffer a decline in quality. Waid's World Finest is on a downward trajectory quality-wise and if the upcoming Kingdom Come arc isn't the shot in the arm I'm hoping for, I'll drop it. Up next, both Williamson and PKJ are doing arcs where Superman loses his powers, and fighting OCs (I have a strong suspicion who are the real villains of Action's next arc and am excited for that at least).
Not to mention the elephant in the room: only reason Superman is getting a push right now is because of Legacy. If that tanks, I don't know what will happen. Instead of worrying about the future, I choose to enjoy the current line for as long as it lasts. Just let Williamson and PKJ get to do proper endings for their runs, that's all I ask.

Part 1: Rebooting the Justice League
Part 3: Rebooting Batman
What are heroes without villains? To follow up with my Rebooting the Justice League post, where I treated those characters to a more extreme reboot than DC’s “New 52,” I thought it would be fun to take a look at a redesigned villain team to oppose my redesigned Justice League:
Tumblr media
Make sure to read the previous post, as I’ll be referencing plot points I set up there. All of these characters are part of the Legion of Doom, a group organized specifically to oppose the Justice League.
Lex Luthor
Tumblr media
Origin: Lex Luthor is a self-made man. Born in the slums of Metropolis, he pulled himself out of poverty and was accepted with a full scholarship to MIT, though he soon dropped out to start his own business, LexCorp. Luthor’s company soon became the most influential in the country, the leader in both consumer and military technologies. His business practices were less than honest, however, and his further rise to power increasingly involved more dubious dealings. Upon the arrival of Superman, however, and his clear message of standing up to those who would abuse their power, Luthor became concerned. He didn’t understand where this person came from or how he was seemingly invincible, but he would find out.
To keep Superman and other heroes away from his most important dealings, Luthor devised two plans. First, he worked with the CIA to create Power Girl, a metahuman counter to Superman who would join the Justice League and watch over them. The second was a far more sinister and secret plan: to fund a team of supervillains to occupy the League’s time, a “Secret Society.” No one but Luthor and a single Society member knew he was ultimately behind their organization.
Notes: Luthor’s a pretty great foil to Superman already, so I didn’t want to change much. I prefer his depiction as a corporate mogul instead of a mad scientist, especially since it fits with my Superman’s proletarian leanings. This, however, doesn’t mean that Luthor isn’t a technical genius, it’s just that his goals are bigger than just inventing things. Visually I wanted someone who looked pretty friendly, nerdy fellow, like a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. He’s a famous guy and his personal image is strongly tied to the success of his company, so he’d try hard to suppress any notion that he’s anything but perfect. Then comes Superman, who’s this media darling, and it really gets to Luthor. Not only is this guy out to stop Luthor and his kind, but he’s doing it with a squeaky clean image.
Cornelius “Gorilla” Grodd
Tumblr media
Origin: LexCorp geneticist Cornelius Grodd was tasked with reproducing Superman’s regenerative abilities and invulnerability. When he learned that his professional rival at S.T.A.R. labs, Ananth Patil, had made greater strides in this, Grodd sabotaged Patil’s work (unwittingly turning him into the Flash) and stole a sample of what he believed to be a serum for reproducing Superman’s invulnerability. After thorough testing and modification, Grodd concluded that the serum would work, and would also easily double his intelligence. He also concluded that only he should possess such power, and took the serum himself. It did increase his intellect, but instead of invulnerability, Grodd’s body was turned into an early hominid-like form. Disgraced, he turned to Luthor for aid, who offered him a new mission in exchange for the funding needed to undo his disfigurement: create a supervillain group to keep Superman occupied.  Grodd knows he’s being used, but for the meantime plays along before making a direct action against Luthor.
Powers: Grodd possesses slightly higher than human strength, but his main ability is his cunning intellect and ability to hypnotize and control those with whom he makes eye contact.
Notes: Grodd’s a fun character and everyone loves an evil gorilla, but I wanted to have an appearance that wasn’t so on the nose about it. I decided for kind of a Planet of the Apes appearance, and went with a backstory that meshed with that. He’s also a guy who’s now as smart as or smarter than Luthor, with the same sort of ambition, and I wanted to preserve the classic semi-rivalry between these two villains.
Metallo (John Corben)
Tumblr media
Origin: LexCorp wasn’t the only company bidding for the government’s superhuman contract. Cadmus Labs also had a candidate for the “answer” to Superman, but while Lex Luthor’s project was simply to make their own superhuman, Cadmus took a darker route by creating a weapon explicitly designed to kill Superman. In place of a life sentence, mass murderer John Corben signed on to be one of Cadmus’s experiments. Project Metallo involved grafting him to a mechanical body, one that was powered by a mysterious meteor that they had been observed to weaken Superman. When Metallo was rejected by the government in favor of Power Girl, Cadmus made plans to dismantle him, but Corben managed to escape. Soon, however, he was intercepted by the Grodd, and offered an opportunity to join the Society so that he could fulfill the one action that would truly give him pleasure (thanks to Cadmus’s conditioning): fighting Superman.
Powers: Metallo possesses superhuman durability and strength, as well as a limited armament and the ability to fly short distances via rockets. His most distinctive attribute, however, is the power source in his chest: a fragment of Krypton, which fell to Earth along with Kal-El’s rocket years ago. The reason it causes harm to Superman is that when Colu sets out to destroy a species, it reforms their planets into a substance that unmakes them, specifically. As such, a fragment of the reconstituted Krypton (“Kryptonite,” if you will) unravels Kal-El’s very being. Metallo is also capable of firing a beam of Kryptonite radiation from his chest or eyes (when his faceplate is down).
Notes: Criminal experimentation seemed like a natural way to go with Metallo. I also like the notion that Lex Luthor actually didn’t come up with the most evil way to deal with Superman (at least at first). Visually I wanted Metallo to look a bit clunky and retro; there’s some Iron Giant and Big O in there, as well as a creepy glowing skull. He’s meant to look like he can take and give a pounding. The origin I’ve given him isn’t far removed from his original, just a little closer to something from the Robocop movies.
Livewire (Leslie Willis)
Tumblr media
Origin: Leslie Willis first gained notoriety on the reality TV show I’m a Superhero, Get Me Out of Here, where contestants were given a superhero name, powers, and forced to live together in Miami. When she discovered she would soon be voted off the show, Willis concocted a plan to increase her popularity by “going evil,” and proceeded to murder the other contestants and film crew. The plan worked, and “Livewire” continued to garner fame with a violent life of crime. She joined the Secret Six primarily because it would increase her exposure and chances of killing a popular hero. However, if that doesn’t turn out, Livewire has a backup plan where she will “turn good” at the last minute and help the Justice League.
Powers: Livewire’s gauntlets and helmet allow her to control electromagnetic fields. This mostly involves firing bolts of electricity and a rudimentary usage of magnetism to bend or throw metal.
Notes: Livewire’s original origin (as a shock jock) seemed a little too early 90s, but I do like the idea of an obnoxious egomaniac angle, so I went with the reality show backstory. In a world where Superman and other heroes are a new thing, you’d expect media outlets to capitalize on the hype. Livewire’s motivations aren’t too far removed from modern non-celebrities of that type, she’s only taken it to extremes. Visually, I wanted her outfit to be provocative before it’s practical. This is a character who is more concerned about being photographed than having combat-ready clothing.
Giganta (Doris Zeul)
Tumblr media
Origin: The appearance of Superman and others sparked somewhat of a superhuman arms race worldwide, with nations concerned about their enemies gaining super soldiers of their own. A high price was offered, for example, for anyone who could navigate to the Amazonian island, Themiscyra, and recover its relics. Many treasure hunters lept at the opportunity, but only the mercenary Doris Zeul and her team were able to successfully navigate to Themiscyra. Although her companions were killed by the various traps left by the Amazons, Zeul survived and found a suit of armor said to contain the power of Ares. Deciding the claim the armor for her own, Zeul now works for the highest bidder, and that bidder is the Secret Society.
Powers: Fueled by rage, Giganta’s armor enhances her fighting skills and physical stature, as well as raise her strength and durability. Generally, the longer a fight goes on, the more indestructible she becomes.
Notes: Wonder Woman needed someone to sword fight, so I went with a little-used origin of Giganta that involved her being more of an Amazonian foil than a lady with growing powers. I also wanted to keep the origins of the characters diverse, and liked the idea of some powers-that-be trying to replicate Wonder Woman’s powers instead of Superman’s. Visually, I wanted Giganta to contrast with Wonder Woman while still having Greco-Roman vibes. I used a gladiator style to help distinguish her as someone who revels in combat and power, while Wonder Woman is more of a peacekeeper.
Sinestro (Evan Qward)
Tumblr media
Origin: Midori Ota was not the first on Earth to possess the Oan “green lantern.” Years earlier, another person, Dr. Evan Qward, first received it, but he quickly came to abuse its power, hoping to rule over the Earth with what he deemed a divine gift. The Oan lantern, however, was built with a failsafe against such abuse and disappeared from Qward’s possession, in search of a new host. Soon Qward was driven mad, having become addicted to the power, and spent the rest of his life trying to replicate the abilities of the lantern. Having recently discovered there is a new person using his former “gift,” Qward has taken up with the Secret Society under the name Sinestro in order to kill this new Green Lantern and reclaim what is rightfully his.
Powers: Sinestro has designed a suit and power supply meant to mimic the Green Lantern’s abilities, though it does not exactly achieve this. Instead, he can only deconstruct and manipulate nonliving matter with yellow rays from his gloves.
Notes: I think Sinestro is an important component of the Green Lantern mythos, as he represents the temptation that comes with such power and how easily it can be abused. Although his origin here is fairly different from the original, I think I’ve still kept the essential element of him being a “fallen” Green Lantern who thinks that power should be used to rule over people rather than serve them. While originally his antagonism was mostly an ideological one (since he still had his own power ring), here I’ve added a more direct motivation: he wants his lantern back. I like the notion of such power being addictive. After all, I imagine losing the ability to make whatever you imagine come to life would make anyone pretty angry. Visually, I didn’t want to stray too far from the original Sinestro. He’s a basically an evil Green Lantern, so that should stay the same.
Parasite (Madame Vandal)
Tumblr media
Origin: Shortly before their fateful visit to Mars, Kryptonian explorers briefly visited Earth to determine if its inhabitants were ready for “modification.” After a brief experimentation, it was determined that humans were too savage in their present state, and the Kryptonians erased the evidence of their arrival before moving on to Mars. One experiment lived, however, and found that she could prolong her life by absorbing the “life force” of those around her. As time went on, the power did dwindle and she found she had to more and more frequently absorb others to maintain her life. This persisted for over a thousand years, when she encountered Grodd, who wished her to join the Secret Society in exchange for research into her “condition.” Madame Vandal’s story of alien abduction is not believed (and she never quite remembers it correctly), but she is nevertheless welcomed, as she is indisputably the most powerful member of the Secret Society.
Powers: Vandal has the ability to leech energy from others through physical contact. This rejuvenates her, as well as temporarily elevates her strength and vitality to whatever she’s touched. This effectively makes her as powerful as Superman while fighting him. To fully maintain her presumed immortality, Vandal has to completely drain a person until they die.  Also, with some concentration, she can absorb non-biological energy as well (such as kinetic or electrical) and redirect it at her command.
Notes: I combined Parasite’s abilities with a more Vandal Savage origin story, as I think the two work well together. Visually I wanted someone who didn’t look very imposing, hiding their true power. Parasite here is almost like a vampire, slinking in the shadows and lasting as long as she has because most people don’t know her true nature.
Huntress (Helena Bertinelli)
Tumblr media
Origin: Daughter of a prominent Gotham crime boss, Helena Bertinelli watched her family gunned down during a mafia war.  Living in hiding with a foster family, she grew to despise organized crime in all its forms. When she came of age, Helena idolized Batman and wished to gain his favor by taking on the persona of Batgirl. However, Batman was concerned about her brutal methods of crime fighting, and told her he couldn’t waste time training such a person when there is a growing superhuman concern. Still wanting his approval, Helena created a new villain persona, the Huntress, and joined the ranks of the Secret Society with the intent of exposing their mysterious financier. She reasoned that superhumans loyal to the government or a corporate force were far more dangerous than the Justice League, and intends to dismantle their operation by whatever means she can.
Powers: Huntress is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and ranged weaponry. Her goggles allow her night vision and infrared tracking, and her body armor is designed specifically to absorb concussive blows, as well as redirect energy known to be used by many metahumans. Her preferred weapons are a crossbow and collapsible sword.
Notes: I wanted to have one character who rode the line a bit, and the Huntress is a good candidate. While obviously not a real villain, Huntress is to the Secret Society what Power Girl is to the Justice league, at least in that she has ulterior motives. Visually, I wanted someone who took after Batman, so most of what’s she’s wearing is a more practical version of her regular costume. I’m not a fan of people with secret identities and exposed hair, so I gave her a full mask and cut her hair short to fit. I liked the religious imagery of her original costume but felt hanging crosses were a little too on the nose, so I went with a priest’s collar and an overall look that sort of resembles a cardinal.
******************
And there’s my Secret Society! I wanted to have a combination of personalities that would play well with each other, as well as give the Justice League appropriate foils in combat. Most importantly, I wanted the backstories, characters and designs to be fresh and get people interested in some of these (often obscure) supervillains. Tell me what you think!

Six Flags Magic Mountain reclaims drop tower record
Six Flags Magic Mountain has quietly reclaimed the title for the world’s tallest drop tower after a sister park in New Jersey demolished a record-setting ride that stole the crown a decade ago — but Magic Mountain won’t have the title for long. The 400-foot-tall Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom ride at the Valencia amusement park is once again the world’s tallest drop tower. Sign up for our Park Life…

I finished reading Superman - Action Comics ( 2016 ) volume 1: Path of Doom
Tumblr media
Comic Book Treasury lied to me, this one chronologically comes before Superman volume 1. so I maybe should have started here for Rebirth era Superman. You'd think reading this one may have cleared up questions I had about that last volume, but it just raised further questions.
Lex Luthor is pretending to be a new Superman in light of the New 52 Superman's death. There appears to also be a second Lois Lane, which makes sense, given Superman and his Family in this book are the pre-Flashpoint incarnations moved to a new reality. but this version of Lois is Superwoman? But we don't get to see hero outsideof a quick blur. Also Doomsday is back, and this one is also the pre-Flashpoint version?
I just have a hundred questions.
Luckily, it seems like Rebirth era Superman trades are all pretty cheap by default, so I won't have to wait for price drops to catch up on some of these.
All that said, I'm having a lot of fun with Superman's books. I know I sound very confused but I don't want to stress too much about chronological order anymore, so I think i'll just look forward to finally getting those lost pieces of the story as they come to me. It's not so much that I find the story confusing, it's that so much appears to be happening either off camera, or between volumes. But the books themselves are very fun.

The History of Duff Beer
youtube
What are you saying is exactly right. But the can looks nothing like the TV show and the lettering looks nothing like it so we're wondering what they're talking about and they said it's the word Duff and yeah you can copyright that so we had an idea to change the word and put the can like the show and how Laura said no our lawyers said no and we said what exactly is Fox and universal and they said it's this huge conglomerate and it is all that entertainment and news and I said so why aren't we doing this and I get a little flack and they said we don't want to step up and I said we're not going to it's a it's a morlock concept it's a molec name and they're being blocked from doing it possibly by themselves but that's what it is and they said this it's not really themselves but we get it so who cares that they fight as long as they're getting the hell out of the way or at least they'll fight some of them and that's what they look at it like they'll be fighting some mac proper and they deserve this beer as their name it's their beer they didn't themselves. So you want some of you to get off your Duff and get down there to the phone and let us know what you're talking about and he wants you to have a meeting at the legion of tomb to address this question and try and come together on items of this nature and Tommy F wants to he wants him to be Doctor Doom or God forbid the enemy of Superman Mr luthor lex luthor and they agree. And they will hold the meeting and they want to feel super evil or something so they want to go and meet and they want to talk about the beer they said they can't get it off the ground with us doing this s*** so he says and that's our son why not take the brewery and put it in each different area of theirs off the city and we'll manage it run it updated keep it going clean water and clean hops and barley everything is fresh and pure hahaha. And his making some jokes with Brian but it's not funny so we are having some trouble here with him but for the most part it's a good idea so if you're like Milwaukee and someone else's Detroit then you would have one there and Detroit and you would have some other group in Milwaukee there are different group and those places would serve their own places for the most part I'll have others in there to make sure they weren't pulling funny business and there be some fighting this is how we're doing it with the automobiles
Thor Freya

This is what's good we're trying to reinvent the wheel and everything cuz it's not working but there are things that will work now we're going to get to it this is going to be great
Nuada Arrianna
Luckily Jenna a lot of them don't want to be top dogs and stuff which is kind of true they'll each have a position in the company and a stake in it and they'll be on the board but they don't want to control it and run it and they want their area and you guys could do that it's more pay and you could pull a little from each area and you could do the advertising in marketing and restaurants in syndication and merchandising and they would have it all for their areas and they like it so it's nice if someone drops out from death I would have to move in and take over but seriously besides that it is a great idea and it's like you guys is working it's your beer name and Duff does mean what it says it's your butt get off your butt and also means this peat moss stuff and things and you're supposed to understand you're in trouble so we're going to go ahead and submit for this idea and the areas are going to start up and we want to have the group are you in there and discuss your areas now there's only three or four of you more luck who don't get along with each other and we'll have separate meetings all the time and we'll alternate which one is first and we can have three different people or what have you this one guy doesn't get along with anyone and he's going to pull you together we want you to discuss this idea for a few things it's our son and daughter she backed them up when I and no she says it's part of her idea and it's good. That's how it works but we're going to get this beer going

Amusement parks offer a diverse array of rides, each designed to cater to different tastes and thrill levels. Let's explore some of the most popular categories of amusement park rides. 1. Roller Coasters
Roller coasters are synonymous with high-speed thrills and heart-pounding excitement. They come in various types, including wooden, steel, inverted, and launched coasters. Wooden coasters, like the historic Cyclone at Coney Island, offer a classic ride experience with their rickety tracks and nostalgic charm. In contrast, steel coasters, such as Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure, provide smoother rides and the ability to achieve incredible heights and speeds. 2. Ferris Wheels
Ferris wheels are iconic amusement park rides that offer breathtaking views and a gentle ride experience. These towering structures, with their slowly rotating cabins, provide a serene contrast to the adrenaline-pumping rides found in parks. The London Eye and the High Roller in Las Vegas are prime examples of modern Ferris wheels that combine sightseeing with leisure. 3. Carousels
Carousels, or merry-go-rounds, are timeless attractions that evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder. Featuring beautifully crafted horses and chariots that move in a circular motion, carousels are perfect for riders of all ages. The craftsmanship and artistic details of these rides make them a favorite for families and those seeking a whimsical experience. 4. Drop Towers
For those who crave a vertical thrill, drop towers are the ultimate attraction. These rides lift passengers to dizzying heights before releasing them into a freefall. The sensation of weightlessness and the sudden rush of air make drop towers an exhilarating experience. Examples include the Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios and the Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom at Six Flags Magic Mountain. 5. Water Rides
Water rides provide a refreshing escape from the heat and a fun way to get soaked. These rides range from log flumes and river rapids to water coasters and splashdown rides. Water rides like Splash Mountain at Disneyland and Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom offer a mix of thrilling drops and scenic elements. 6. Spinning Rides
Spinning rides add a dizzying twist to the amusement park experience. From teacup rides to tilt-a-whirls, these attractions spin riders in various directions, creating a whirlwind of fun. The Mad Tea Party at Disneyland and the classic Tilt-A-Whirl found in many parks are popular examples. 7. Simulators and Dark Rides
Simulators and dark rides take passengers on immersive journeys through storytelling and special effects. These rides often use advanced technology to create realistic experiences. Star Tours at Disneyland and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal Studios are standout examples that blend motion simulation with cinematic elements

Dragonrider AU, Pt 1
In a land of dragonriders, there lay the kingdoms of Luthor and El. Each dragonrider receives an elemental gift upon being bonded with a dragon. In the Luthor kingdom, metalbending is most common, but Lex has a prodigious gift for it, arguably the strongest in history. Lena, on the other hand, is gifted the power of wind.
Luthor's history is mired in secrecy and nefarious dealings. Lena, however, disgreeing with their plans of world domination, takes it upon herself to carry whispers of intelligence to the only nation powerful enough to even think of standing against Luthor-- the Kingdom of El.
Under the guise of being absentminded and as flighty as her winds, Lena rides her dragon Zephyr to far reaches of the kingdom, to secret places where she can whisper with none the wiser.
Her ghostly words reach the ears of Kara Zor el, a princess of El. With Lena's intel, once it is proven legitimate, El makes great strides in repelling the Luthor invasion. Over the months and years, Kara grows attached to the voice that tickles her ears, imagines the woman it belongs to.
When Lex grows suspicious, and Lena realizes she's been found out, she sends a final missive-- that she has been compromised, and she will attempt to flee the kingdom, but she knows her chances of success are slim. She thanks Kara for trusting her, for making her efforts to thwart her family's plans worthwhile.
Sure enough, Lena is caught halfway to the border, where metalbenders surround her and Zephyr and drive them earthward. So grounded, Lena wields her scathing winds with expert precision, deflecting the flying shards of metal that seek to ensnare her. She blasts her assailants off their feet while Zephyr attempts to drive them back with spurts of fire.
Her resistance comes to an end when a strap of metal cleaves through Lena's final gust and snaps shut around her neck, welding itself in place. The runes inscribed upon it flare to life, binding her magic and rendering it inert. Lena drops to her knees, coughing from the impact against her throat, and looks up through watering eyes to find that her brother Lex has come to apprehend her himself.
He gazes impassively down at her.
"How disappointing."
Thus subdued-- Zephyr's fire ceasing the moment Lena's magic does-- they are dragged to the nearest fort, tried together, and summarily sentenced to death by dragonfire.
The morning of their execution, Lex and his dragon-- an enormous beast he calls Leviathan-- take it upon themselves to do the deed. Lex orders Zephyr chained to the ground, the smaller dragon's wings pinned and the chain over his neck pulled so tight he can hardly pull his chin from the ground, let alone resist. Which he doesn't even attempt. He knows that if he does, he would watch his mistress be executed, with him left survive alone-- a fate worse than death.
When Lena is summoned, knights and soldiers loyal to Lex jeer and taunt as she's tugged out of her cell and into the pale light of the courtyard. Soon the chains shackled to her wrists are looped around the bony protrusions along Zephyr's brow. There Lena all but dangles against the bridge of her dragon's snout.
While Lex commences one of his typical rabble rousing speeches, Lena does her best to remain calm. She knew this could be the result of her treason, expected it even. But now, facing death has breaths coming hard and fast, her body shuddering with every rasping inhalation.
Against her back, Zephyr presses forward as much as he can against his bonds, pressing his scales to Lena's skin. The touch calms her, soothes her enough for her thoughts to unclench from around their impending doom and allow her dragon's consciousness to enter her mind.
I am with you, he tells her, his thoughts a familiar rumble against her own. Always.
Lena closes her eyes for a long moment.
Thank you, she says simply in return. I love you.
In that moment Lex finishes, lifting his hand for the crowd to hush. It does. Then he meets Lena's gaze.
"You, Lena of Luthor, former princess of the realm, have been found guilty of treason and are hereby stripped of all lands and titles. By the crown's judgement you are sentenced to execution by dragonfire. Have you any last words?"
Oh, Lena knows what he wants. He wants her to beg. He wants a show of groveling, of admitting wrongdoing, of tearful pleading. Perhaps he would use it to grant her clemency, casting himself as a merciful prince. But more likely he would merely smirk, and revel in her weakness before giving Leviathan the signal to ignite.
Lena doesn't give him the satisfaction. She remains silent, the only sound of response the clink of the chains shifting as she reflexively tugs against them, her hands curling tightly into fists.
The thrum of Zephyr's approval in her mind is almost as gratifying as the sour glint in Lex's eye when he realizes no performance would be forthcoming.
"Very well!" he calls, his voice carrying over the crowd. His lifts his arm high over his head, and Leviathan takes a lumbering step forward. In the silence, Lena can hear the snick of teeth scraping apart as his giant maw opens. There the dragon waits for his master's command.
"Fire--!"
Before the word has even fully left Lex's mouth, Lena registers several things at once. First is the spark of fire deep in Leviathan's gullet, swirling to life as it billows upwards and outwards towards them. The second is the unexpected whoosh of dragonwings overhead, and primal human roar that preludes a beam of light striking the side of Leviathan's head, turning his jaw aside-- too late.
The flames come rushing towards her, and then all Lena knows is pain.

“most superhero groups are billionaires beating up poor people” okay this isn’t funny, its just really annoying and like a lot of memes that pick up traction, people are acting like its actual canon so in response consider this:
this is based on the idea that most superheroes are billionaires, or otherwise rich. Besides the fact that a few of the founding figures that would inspire many superheroes were rich as a cover story (Zorro, as an example) and that a common superhero secret identity idea during the pulp era was ‘local wealthy person uses their money to fund their battle against gangsters and supervillains and anyway no one believes a rich idiot would do anything useful like that’, its not really a common thing. At ALL. Some prominent superheroes (Iron Man, Batman) fit this, but most superheroes are not particularly wealthy. For a lot of them it doesn’t really matter either way, narratively, and a lot of the ones for whom it DOES matter are blue collar or otherwise not wealthy.
Actual examples are extensive, but not that many heroes are wealthy. It’s, again, way more common for them not to be; Superman holds down a job as a journalist. Peter Parker’s life is, with rare exception, a constant downward spiral of him struggling to hold down a job alongside doing superhero work. Bruce Banner is consistently depicted as legitimately homeless and his powers render him too unstable to hold down ANY kind of lifestyle that won’t inevitably end in him fleeing from the collateral damage that is his life. It goes on.
Then there’s Marvel’s most unexpected darlings, the Guardians of the Galaxy. For most of their on-screen movie appearances, they’re essentially a bunch of space ruffians taking mercenary jobs. It’s a bit weird to say ‘gun for hire’ as a blue collar job but... well, what else would you call it?
Supervillains are more consistently depicted as rich. The lists go on and on: Lex Luthor, the cunning businessman who’s sincerely tried to turn a whole city into his personal monopoly so he can feel important. Kingpin, who IS the actual kingpin of crime in all of New York and poses as a wealthy benefactor while muscling out anyone who might interfere in his control over the city. Obadiah Stane, the Ironmonger, a man so dedicated to arms dealing he has a whole super identity based around it. Doctor Doom, who whatever else he’s got going on, is also the absolute dictator of an entire country that he rules with a literal iron fist and whose entire GDP is essentially his personal wallet. Pretty much all of Batman’s rogues gallery from the gangster era have this to some degree; the crime families of old Gotham, the Penguin when he’s in top form...
And this leads to the second criticism of this extremely unfunny and  irritating deliberate misconception joke; the depiction of supervillains as victims or people who get beaten up while just trying to make a living. To be blunt, while it is common for supervillains to be depicted sympathetically (and in fact specific villains being treated like this, or in general, seems to go in cycles depending on whether people are sick of it or the inverse at that time). It’s not that common; you might be talking about, say, the minions of the arc villain, but even they tend to be career criminals who happen to get their kicks out of beating the shit out of other people, breaking legs for criminal organizations, being legitimate serial killers who regard torturing people to death as an art form, or take potshots at stray pets for the fun of it. They profit really well off of this job and they’re not typically victims; when they are, its usually a plot point and the writer is likely to address it. You don’t often get cases where a writer will just drop stuff like that or leave bad implications.
The vast majority of supervillains are huge assholes. Even the sympathetic ones; Mr Freeze might be a tormented ruin of a man desperately trying to save his sickly wife, but he is ALSO frequently depicted as being callously indifferent to other people because their problems aren’t HIS problems. Killer Croc is one of the few villains I give leeway to in this manner because dear god Gotham is so fucked up get this man some real therapy please, but even he has his moments. And then there’s the villains often treated as environmentalist feminist icons but when you actually look at them, they generally tend to be actually depicted as ecofascists who never shut up about how their plans is to exterminate humanity.
So long story short, its really weird that people act like ‘rich guys beating up poor people’ is the default of this genre when pretty much all the examples they reference are 1. very specific to the heroes who started out fighting gangsters during the 1940s and they were fighting the Mafia and Nazis and 2. few superheroes are rich, I don’t understand why people think its funny to make stuff up like this to dislike something that’s popular to make fun of (pretty much like it was 20 years ago and back, so time really is a flat circle)

Comic's this week?
World's Finest #18 - Underwhelming. Even if Waid prefers that Superman and Batman not be at odds, it's more entertaining to have their first meeting be full of tension. They're way too quick to get along here, and Waid's choice of a secret Superman villain disappointed me. Jax-Ur? Really? Look I know you love your Silver Age deep cuts Waid, but Ur is lame, especially the DCAU Ur who is just Zod (because for whatever reason they couldn't use Zod). Should've used Zod or the Phantom King. Right now I'm planning to stick with the book through the Kingdom Come arc, but if that doesn't reinvigorate my enjoyment I'll be dropping it. I'll still have The Last Days of Lex Luthor at least.
Knight Terrors: Superman #2 - Meanwhile Williamson delivered an entertaining ending to the two-parter. Lois' nightmare being killer deadlines got a laugh from me. Knowing that the Brainiac plotline is coming, I'm very intrigued to see what that tease means. Seems our boy has been mentally compromised by Brainiac.
The Vigil #4 - Hope Ram V has a different twist up his sleeve than copying Morrison's similar twist with the Chief and the Doom Patrol.
Loki #3 - Did I mention Loki is an asshole? Love how Watters builds on Ewing's foundation, while still having Loki spread misery wherever he goes, even when he's trying to solve problems. Bullseye using the "truth" against Loki should be a hoot, hope it's something other than Kid Loki.
