Although he’d probably be either exempted or disqualified not just for his temperament but also just breed given thoroughbreds are not a preferred breed for cavalry — at least not here although we do prefer Canadians (THE HORSE) for obvious reasons so maybe my information is skewed.

Oh LORD I don’t know! Killie probably wouldn’t be a cavalry officer: it depends on how his strange between-inherited-classes in the UK and Ireland status would translate. It’s hard to work out if he’d meet the height requirement - apparently he would today, although I haven’t researched. Thunder would be Everyone Else’s Problem. It would be fascinating to research!

I did a bunch of research into WW1 cavalry in the UK like 10 years ago when I had the idea for a centaur!AU Lord Peter Wimsey fic, but it didn’t get off the ground (it was mostly scenes of Bunter the batman/groom during the war having to long-sufferingly fish microscopic stones out of centaur!Peter’s hooves because He Couldn’t Walk Suddenly).

(And then Peter developing a quite natural Horror of Gravel, after getting his hooves fucked up without help behind enemy lines or something (Whump Part) and this manifesting as Peter flat-out fucking refusing to do any detective work anywhere near anything defined as “gravel” or “crushed stone” and he’s very suspicious of “the wrong sort of beach.”

(All of which results in Peter standing superbly in a flowerbed, directing the ever-professional Bunter at a distance in the finding of Clues in Gravelled Paths in a Formal Manor Garden. UNDER THE ORB, BUNTER. UNDER! UNDER - BUNTER THAT’S AN URN. THE ORB. THE ORB. GOOD HEAVENS MAN ITS LIKE YOUVE NO CONCEPT OF GARDEN STATUARY. NO YOU KNOW I CANT COME OVER THERE. AND ALL YOUR INDUSTRY IS SO INSPIRIN’.)

Anyway my conclusion having researched a decent amount was: There’s a Lot I Don’t Know About Historical Cavalry
