Hi, I just saw your post about fem baguko and I found it very interesting. Could you tell me what other ideas you have about her?

Yes!!! But first, here is my low quality rendition of a fem Bakugo. Long skirt to simulate baggy pants and longer hair to separate her design more from her mom's.

I think in canon there's no actual reason for Bakugo to feel insecure. Obviously, people don't need a reason to feel insecure, but it does make for a less compelling character. The only thing I could consider as a "reason" is that Midoriya is a kinder a more thoughtful person than he is. But I do not see any reason why he would be so jealous of that. Fem Bakugo would have more of a reason. Midoriya is everything the world expects from her, even while being what she sees as weaker.

I mentioned in the original post that she would be seen as a traitor to heroes after her kidnapping, but didn't elaborate that much. Usually, the media likes to take two paths when discussing women: The Damsel in Distress or The Evil Manipulator. The story I always think of is a true crime story my mom loves to tell to prove a point. A woman and her boyfriend were at home when the woman was kidnapped. The cops blamed the boyfriend for killing her without any cause. Then, when the woman was found alive, they blamed her for pulling a "Gone Girl" to garner attention and ruin the boyfriend's life, even though it was proven she was kidnapped. I doubt Bakugo would be seen as a damsel for long, but she definitely be called a traitor. This could spark the real start to her character arc by having her realise that the world sees her as a villain.

Final point is that I vaguely alluded to people (in canon) shipping Midoriya and Bakugo. I don't actually ship Bakudeku, not in canon at least, and see not additional value to the story by mindlessly making them a couple. I can see value in their relationship being harder to build back up by social pressures to get together, especially if the world seems to be pitting Uraraka and Bakugo against each other. There could be some great commentary on the shonen genre by showing that not only is Bakugo friends with her "romantic rival", she was never even interested in Midoriya in the first place. If written by a bad writer, this could totally lean into Girlboss territory, but if done well could portray that her story is about her and no one else.

I think the reason I love the idea so much is that a lot of the MHA girls are not presented correctly. They usually are sexualized, sidelined, or off handily made insecure to give them the semblance of depth. The best written women in the series are the ones that get to surpass that (Like Miruko, Toga, and Uraraka). But they still don't get the spotlight. Bakugo is one of the main characters and is arguably the inciting incident for the whole series. Just simply making him a girl opens up a lot more opportunity for commentary of the shonen genre and what an actual super-hero society would be like.

Most of this should probably be kept more subtle though. Having Bakugo's character just revolve around her being a woman is shallow and would give her little depth. It should just be an added part to explain her more.

the fact that tokoyami could be considered one of the more important members of 1-A and we still got JACK SHIT about his backstory is so wild to me

like you have this whole idea of him cherishing the relationships he has so deeply to the point of an emotional breakdown whenever someone he cares about gets hurt and you DONT TELL US WHY???

My god you are so right. It IS really disappointing. I honestly had no expectations for tokoyami backstory because I had always thought of him as a background character when I got into mha in 2017-2019. The story was still new then but when I returned last year there was so much more tokoyami had become. He plays an absolutely vital role but is treated as a supporting character. We knew him long before hawks but he was obviously pushed aside in favor of the winged hero. There is so much subtle writing about tokoyami especially him potentially having hurt or even killed people in the past. Dark Shadow is such an interesting quirk and character but they are never truly addressed for their insane power.

I would like to think tokoyami would have gotten his own character arc eventually if the ending hadn’t been so rushed for whatever reason. It would have probably been a very large undertaking and I can see how it wouldn’t have been able to fit into the tight schedule. He’s not even mentioned in the epilogue, only seen, despite clearly being one of the strongest characters and would at least be top 10.

I’m so sorry anon that your dreams were crushed. I hope my silly headcanons and stories bring you some closure, I do try to stay as close to canon as possible. Although I am aware my personal experiences and feelings certainly influence my ideas without me realizing. Perhaps you could drop in my dms at some point so we can share thoughts :)

So the thing is with Shinsou and his place in the ErasMic family he is so middle child coded to me. Like he just has so much middle child energy it’s insane.

Like my two most favorite ErasMic fics; Wards of AU by FeckedSpectrum (one of the all time pieces of literature I have read truly) and A Heart Grows Fonder by Laroyena both have Shinsou playing the youger sibling to Mirio and Shigaraki respectively and that’s when it clicked for me. It just felt so natural so easy for him to slip into this middle child role.

And it’s because he has all the bitchy confrontational energy of a younger sibling but with enough of the care and consideration of an Older sibling and so putting him against this older figure he doesn’t have to be as soft with as he is with Eri and he can really develop other aspects of his personality is so natural. H is such a bitchy constantly rolling their eyes sarcastic little brother I love it so much.

And this isn’t me saying I have anything against the Eri Shinsou dynamic ofcourse not I love them as siblings but I don’t know the dynamic just feels powered up when Shinsou’s a middle child there’s a more grown child figure kind of buffering a lot of Shinsou’s more abrasive tendencies so we still get to see that familial bitchy banter. A Heart Grows Fond described it perfectly with his relationship with Shigaraki. Shinsou gets a support system but he also gets someone he can practice his responsibility on without the fear that he might fuck it all up irredeemably because Eri is 6 and can’t pick herself up the way a 21 year old Shigaraki can of Shinsou miscalculates (it was explained so much better) but yeah that’s like the crux of it.

An older siblings is a much less pressured relationship that Shinsou really needs and god I just fucking love it. Middle child Shinsou you will always be famous to me.
