Part of the problem I have with genAI is the dehumanization of it.
It's not just about the theft of writing and ideas and the ability to generate speech, corporations squeezing profit out of words that weren't theirs to squeeze. It's not that I think I should somehow profit from every idea in my head or that I've ever put out in public. I enjoy putting my words for free on the internet. I also help people for free with editing or brainstorming or any number of things when they ask. Part of my job as a scientist was unpaid labor of this nature, reviews and grant-editing and fielding emails from complete strangers regarding scientific questions.
But genAI strips the humanity out of all of these things. You no longer seek out an author to read their words, but get fed them from a plagiarism machine on demand. You aren't emailing a human for help or spitballing ideas with them, you're just talking to yourself and your computer. I know the main goal of genAI is for corporations to kill their entire workforce, but on a personal level, the convenience of just asking the machine whenever you want rather than having to contact another human and then waiting for them to message you back just kills all social collaboration.
It's too easy. It's not as good as another human, but other humans are scary and busy and what if they don't want to talk to me? The computer doesn't have a choice, and everyone hates meetings.
But genAI is saying to the world (and everyone who uses it is agreeing), we want your output, your expertise, your ability, but we don't want you. We want to benefit from everything you have ever done while pretending that you don't even exist.
GenAI is one of the most antisocial things to come out of the 21st century.

generative ai pisses me off so bad do you really need companies to buy up nuclear reactors to fuel your obsession with seeing yourself as a disney character? commission a fucking artist, draw it yourself or fuck just use your imagination. do you really need to see it? would it kill you if you didn't generate a shitty, soulless image that steals from actual creative human beings? do you really need to text a chat bot instead of looking something up and researching yourself? you'd rather enable the advancement of the climate crisis for misinformation than put in the effort to learn something? be fucking for real.

":')))))))) you realise that gen AI is available to everyone though right??? Queer creators can use it just as much as anyone else??? I just don't understand this post... It really feels like a cheap way to get on the 'AI Bad's bandwagon, and coming from such a thoughtful and insightful creator that's incredibly disappointing... It's okay to not comment on subjects you're not an expert in y'know...?"
Y'all know the drill, I am replying to this publicly but that is not an invitation to send any negative messages to the person I am replying to.
Anyways, let me start by saying that the original context of the post you're replying to is discussing an event where a queer org used generative AI to steal an interview with Keri Hulme. So let's start there. To be clear I don't even know if the original interviewer was queer so let's put the identities of stealer and stolen from to the side. I want to explain the harm done in this example specifically and I hope this is illustrative of what harm generative AI can (and does) do.
The original place I saw generative AI was a queer org that explicitly says they are using generative AI "for good", and as a way to bring more queer history to light. So let's take them at their word, and assume they are not out to cause harm. This is the best example of generative AI that I can imagine, so I hope that makes it clear that I am not coming at this issue from bad faith in any way.
Here is the harm they are causing:
Decontextualizing and rephrasing an interview: I am not going to pretend that I am an expert in academic best practices, but I do believe one thing, if a person is speaking on their own identity and lived experience, it is always much better to directly quote than it is to rephrase. As I read this source, I initially didn't know that it was AI, and I was already upset. An interview that is widely available on the internet with no pay wall, was poorly sourced and made more vague than it was in the initial text. By creating one degree of seperation between the original words of A WRITER (whose literal job was largely based in choosing the right words to describe experiences they had) harm is already done. It makes vague what was once clear, and removes Keri Hulme's voice from her own narrative.
The original interviewer is not paid, or given proper recognition: I get it, sometimes just copy pasting an interview doesn't feel transformative enough, but something that one would learn if they worked in the queer history field and weren't a literal robot rehashing what has already been said, is that not everything needs to be transformed. In those cases, we give credit to the person who said the original words (in this case Keri Hulme), and the interviewer who facillitated the conversation (in this case Shelley Bridgeman). This case (again a best case scenario), takes the attention and byline away from the original interviewer and gives it to an AI.
The original publisher of this story is deinsentivised from paying interviewers in the future: The original publisher of this interview has ads on their website. As a person who also has ads on their website, taking an article like this and rephrasing it for no good reason (the orginal word count was not prohibitive and the rephrasing did not make it more readable), takes money from the publisher. It's pennies, but it's also removing numbers could have been used to justify further interviews with asexual people and archiving of asexual stories. The org that stole from this publication does not interview people themselves so the money and numbers that could have gone to continue to preserve asexual stories goes to stealing them instead.
These are just the active harms that I saw in this specific case. As you said, I am not an expert in generative AI, and will not be speaking as if I am. But I will say that asking me not to speak out on active harm that is being caused in queer history spaces, is disrespectful to my many years in this field.
To illustrate this even clearer: if you were a patron, you would know I recently took down an old article. I have been rereading and editing our backlist of articles, and I found one that no longer fit my standards of sourcing. My standards had recently raised due to a video made by HBomberguy about someone in the queer history space who was stealing from other creators. I watched this video not as a work project, but because I watch most of HBomberguys videos, and this one made me think more critically about sourcing. An AI can't do that. All an AI has is what has been inputted, and it is right now impossible to input every available peice of information about ethics into an AI and get a coherent ethical basis on which it will function.
It is a distinctly human trait to absorb information and change in that way. AI can rephrase information that already exists, steal it, recontextualize it even, but it cannot create something altogether new.
Do I believe that there one day might be an ethical use for Generative AI? Maybe. Do I believe that coming into a queer history space, stealing the words of a Maori asexual author, rephrasing them, and giving the original interviewer and publication no form of compensation for their work, is accomplishing that? No.
On a more personal note: I am coming at this issue with a bias. As a queer history creator, I do not want AI in my space, because it is literally damaging to my financial prospects. It has been like pulling teeth to try and get patrons in the current state of the global economy. I don't blame anyone from that, but I feel very disrespected that I am being asked to compete with a machine now. Not only that, but I am being asked to shut up and be fine with it? No, absolutely not. I cannot and will not stay quiet as space that I have fought tooth and nail to create in mainstream discussions is taken and given to AI.
AI was not supporting me when I was sent gore to try and scare me off of discussing queer history. A person did that. AI was not there to tell me I had written too many sad stories, and I needed some happy endings to remind myself of the good in the world. A person did that. AI was not there when I was being harrassed for supporting and including asexual stories on my website. A person did that.
And after all that, I am being asked to lie down and take it when my ability to pay the people who supported me in those ways, is being threatened. Nope. Not going to happen.
An AI doesn't have to make rent. An AI doesn't understand what it feels like to have to stop holding their wife's hand in public. An AI didn't get calls from people needing comfort in reaction to the election. Pay me for my work, and get this AI nonsense out of my face.

Feeding your favorite artist's or writer's work into any form of gen ai feels profoundly sad to me. It's like... Taking popcorn we've popped to share with anyone who wants some, carrying a sack of it outside of the room, and feeding it through a machine that produces... stale, slightly damp popcorn. And all of the reasons given are things like "I couldn't wait for the next part" or "I don't know how to write myself" or "I don't want other people involved in my fandom experience, I just want this template."
Do you really dislike us that much? Are we so bad and scary?
Every author that I've ever spoken to by saying "hey, I really love this aspect of your work," has been really kind and excited to talk to me about it. So many people here dedicate hours at a time to talk about their head cannons and play in the sandbox with anyone who bothers to answer a question, via text and art and audio. Not everyone can, but it's fun when we do. And every single one of them would love to talk about their process, how they got to where they are, and any resources or exercises they use.
Is it that you don't believe we don't deserve the time we need to make something we like enough to share it? We should give you content no matter what, on your schedule?
I don't have time to write as often as I would like because I work a very stressful job, and the mental toll can sometimes be... a lot. When I force myself to try to make anything in that condition, I end up with something I don't like. It takes time to get in the right mindset. And then it takes time to actually put the words down - even if I'm not editing much, I only write at about 20hsh words a minute. My boyfriend writes 2 thousand of words in a good day, but when each chapter is 3k+ words that is still more than a day of writing. The author's giving you 17, 18k words per update? They're amazing, and still people. We're not machines, literally, so... Let us have the time?
I think most people who use gen ai would say "no, that's not it!" But I think if that's you, you should ask yourself if you ever actually thought to ask yourself those questions.

Why Spell Check (and some grammar check) isn't AI
So I've seen in the wake of Nanowrimo some people claim that spell check is AI and thus is like Gen AI, and I saw the claim originator on Twitter, but when I pressed them, they basically tried to say they had a degree in computer science, so when I pressed into them if they knew what they were talking about, they couldn't answer because obviously don't know about AI.
For some background I've done some light programming (If you look at the Korean name generator, that's all me). And I also have relatives that did programming.
Here, I can lay out how spell check works without AI or a fancy algorithm.
The oldest spellchecks didn't use AI or Gen AI, they used what is your basic corresponding tables.
If you use something like google sheets (database), you can do this pretty quickly yourself though with a lot of manpower.
Here is a list of commonly misspelled words.
Add that with another table with how they are commonly misspelled.
Then you need a table with "common typos"
Then you need one more table for "Words the user adds."
The algorithm is basically this: Set up a loop. A loop is a mechanism that has an algorithm (or set of instructions in it) which repeats until a certain instruction is met. This loop with this algorithm will check for words. In this case, anything with letters, usually encompassing ' and - (though some programs ignore dashes).
So[,][ ]it[ ]will[ ]look[ ]at[ ]letters[ ]in[ ]this[ ]sentence[ ]and[ ]figure[ ]out[ ]if[ ]it[ ]is[ ]spelled[ ]correctly.
The first loop in the previous sentence will look at the word "so" by selecting everything it knows to be a letter in English. Tada "S, o" Then correspond that to the dictionary. So shows up in the dictionary listing it has of English words. Thanks Webster. (If you're British, the OED)
The Algorithm concludes the word is spelled correctly. No more work needs to be done on So. The next word is it "i, t" correspond that to the dictionary and so on.
If you have a "bad word" for example "alot" then the work is, word is spelled incorrectly. Next "work to be done" is to find out if this word is in the "commonly misspelled" words list. If yes, then underline the word in red to get it corrected.
Tumblr media
AKA run Algorithm to underline word (usually a few lines of code if you're doing it the old way).
Then the algorithm moves on. The function of right click/Cntrl click is saying, OK, this word, "alot" is it commonly misspelled? Here are a list of corrections according to this other table. This is the work that needs to be done: We need a popup table. We need to pull from the database this misspelling, and then we need to pull from this other database and pull corresponding correct spellings based on this. Then you set up an if-then If the user clicks on this word, change highlighted word.
This is your basic spelling algorithm. You do not need gen AI for this or AI.
Grammar works similarly. You need a table, the type of speech it is (n, v, adv, adj) and then to load in "rules" one should use. You do not need AI. You need some basic programming skills. On the table of somewhere between "Hello, world" (1) and "OMG, I created artificial intelligence like Data " (10) My "Korean name generator" is like 2.5? in difficulty (minus all of the language and cultural knowledge). Haha. Still mocking myself. But a Spellcheck is not far from that. it is like 3. You could build one fairly easily with PHP and database access to a dictionary and misspelled words with corrections.
But Google pulled from the Enron Emails.
In this case, you can sorta fuzzy logic it and create bigger algorithms, mostly to sort out the *grammar* and *New words* that were used that aren't already in the database, which basically is another loop, but with an add to database function. (i.e. table). Then you would correspond this with another loop to look at "odd grammar" and flag it.
You can use AI to sort it faster than a basic algorithm, but nope, you do not need AI to correspond it. A basic algorithm would do. You can also use AI for "words that look similar to this one" and "Words commonly used in place of this one"
But overall, You do not need AI for a grammar check. You only need a dictionary, a set of commonly held rules of English and exceptions (maybe some Noam Chomsky, though he's controversial), and then some programming skill to get past the hurdle.
But Grammar check could use AI
AI as it stands is basically a large algorithm to match large datasets to the words you use. But the problem is that the datasets are taken from users who did not volunteer to put in that information.
It is not Data on Enterprise have novel experiences of every day and learning how to function in the human world by processing it through a matrix of quantum computing.
So WHEN grammar check does use AI, the AI is mostly doing the crunching of the corresponding the information into a more neat table option, as I understand it. It is not the same thing as Gen AI or your average spell check and Microsoft algorithm from say 2000.
Those are not equal things. Instead, adding Gen AI to say, Microsoft Word, is more like stealing your words for the machine (which BTW, Microsoft absolutely did and you need to transfer out to Anti-AI programs/Apps.) and corresponding them for Gen AI future use for people who can't write worth a damn, and then "averaging" it out. Elew. Who wants to write to the average? That's anti-Creative.
And just because it uses an Algorithm, doesn't automatically use AI.
Look, I can write a algorithm now:
Loop: If you want to be strong...
Go outside.
Do cardio.
Go lift weights.
Make sure you eat a healthy diet and balanced which includes reducing refined sugars and do not eat bad fats.
That equally is a set of instructions, but that's not automatically AI.
I programmed my calculator to spit out the quadratic formula. And this isn't even officially programming, this is a script. Dudes, if you're going to call that AI, then you need help with learning computer programming.
The threshold for making AI v spellcheck is a lot, lot higher programming than a set of simple tables and a loop that looks for letters and spaces corresponding it to an existing dictionary. If that's you're threshold for AI, then when you type words, you are caught in an algorithm. Ooooooo... OMG, when you pull up a dictionary to spellcheck yourself, that's AI. C'mon. The threshold is a might higher to make AI or "victim of algorithm" as in Twitter.
So anytime someone says, "All Spellcheck uses genAI/AI" Laugh in their faces and say no. 'cause like, I'm a terrible programmer, and even I'm like, Meh, not that hard to set up spell check, give me a solid dictionary database and I'll do ya.
That said, A human will beat AI on grammar anytime and will be able to sort weird spellings faster and A-OK, or not.

I am at the peak of a very intense episode of post-exertional malaise after helping clean my house for 3 days. I am in pain and tired and my emotional defenses are nonexistent. I can't tell the difference between logical lucid thoughts and emotionally out-of-my-gourd thoughts.
And I decided to talk about AI and argue with people about it.
Just… bad timing.
I feel like I was within my logical framework. I hope I made sense.
But some of the things people were saying felt really hurtful and ableist and I don't know if that is just because I am so raw or if I am justified in feeling that way.
The eye tracking thing really bugged me. Like, "here's an expensive alternative but you have to wiggle your eyes for hours." That just sounds... exhausting. And painful. I literally tried using my eyes to draw and it was... unpleasant.
I think I am just traumatized by the millions of unhelpful or laborious suggestions I've received over the years. And maybe that technology can work at some point. But the funny thing is, when I researched it, some of the ideas were to take someone's eye squiggles and then use AI to interpret them into an image. So... same thing with extra steps.
It just felt like people were being so morally rigid they couldn't carve out a tiny empathetic exception for people like my friend. And beyond that, they had to let me know his creative output was meaningless and invalid.
To relate things back to guns, there is a tough pill to swallow here.
Guns are fun. They are fun to shoot. Fun to collect. Fun to modify. Fun to geek out over.
And the fact that they are fun and bring people so much joy and catharsis and sense of community is one of the reasons they are so hard to legislate. Gun people use 2A and self defense as their "legit" argument, but deep down they just like their shooty shoots. They choose this fun over societal safety and it is frustrating as hell sometimes.
Gen AI is fun. I had fun trying it. I made one of those action figure memes. It gave me a little creative high trying to get it right. It was easy to forget I just used 200 gallons of water to cool a computer at some server farm.
Fun things are fun. Fun is therapeutic. Fun can be scarce when you are disabled. And when you find something easy enough to let you have fun and it doesn't require some huge personal consequence, your mind will do all sorts of things to justify it.
If people don't want to admit that this can be in any way fun and helpful and creative, that's fine. If they want to say all of it is ugly and none of it looks cool. Fine. But that is the same frustrating denial that my friend is putting out there with his bogus justifications.
I wish my friend would just say he knows this hurts artists and the environment but it helps him and it keeps him in this world so it is the least bad option for his needs.
I feel the same way about Amazon Prime and Grubhub and streaming services. Video streams use a sizeable energy foot print that keeps growing just like AI. They also screw artists in all sorts of unique and terrible ways. And I still subscribe to a bunch of them because I need my shows to keep my sanity.
Eating meat. Oof. I love animals so much but cheap vegan diabetic diets aren't really a thing.
So I absorb that guilt to keep surviving.
And I hope that I can fight to make some of those things a little less terrible.

Pluto in Aquarius
Tumblr media
Let's talk about Pluto in Aquarius, and what we can expect.
Tumblr media
Since Aquarius is an air sign, we will see more information to hold us and others accountable, especially people who has power to help or change the world.
This air sign presents valid and real information. A lot of mysterious or secrets are coming, but usually these are an open secret.
Aquarius represents rebellious acts to society and want to change for humanity. In Pluto, this air sign comes and say "hey, what are you doing for others?!" This will be predominant to known people like celebrities and politicians. The reason for this is Aquarius' logic. If I give you, I should receive soemthing, right?
Common folks could make a change, but the rich is overlapping our small steps. We aware now, though.
Many "secrets" are going to be reveled to the public. Secrets that are open. For example, many conspiracy theories are been revealed as actual truth.
This time would be more logical. By logic, I'm meaning be reasonable. Don't trust words, see actions. So, if 2+2 = 4, the result is clear.
Celebs culture would be dying. Slowly, be are seeing them as what they are, some evil and greedy people, or just ordinary people with bad tendencies.
Your favorites will show their true values. So be careful who you idolize. Aqua is more humanitarian. We can detect people with narcissistic and evil aspects.
Government and all the previous power institutions are gonna be renew. Some will fall and other rise.
The citizens are tired of lies and suffering. Many protests are coming. Rebellious acts too, not all is good.
Ai and technology advances are coming. Protect your information and use it wisely. Possible laws against the use of Ai and internet services will come, but it takes times.
Saturn in Aries will play a role in a more fire approach too. Many aggressive approach on online communities will be present. People would be more bold than before.
A more raw and honest approach is appreciated by the public. However, some people will think is safe to push hidden agendas (not good at all).
People will behave more aggressive, especially online communities. Online comments are become aggressive more than normally.
A new creation or invention would occur. Something for all of us; I mean, it involves our wellbeing.
Sexuality topics will be present. More acceptability but also scary things will come.
People would try to explore their fashion style and sense of self more. Creating a more individual approach than collective.
Old institutions and religions cult will fall. People will question their foundations.
Weird things make occur, like there is a eccentric part to Aquarius. New things coming that are not ordinary at all.
Gen Alpha trends will increase. Very interesting trends will come.
Renewing and a more open concious will arise, collectively.
Spirtual people are not perceived as weirdos anymore. Still, not everyone is being truthful.
More restrictions will come because powerful people will get mad that they cannot control the masses as before.
Individual take and better understanding of some communities. I respect you period...
Digital job offers are increasing, but being more socially in real life will be a challenge.
People would try to help others through technology, but it will be blocked by media.
Friendly people (truly) would be so appreciated. "Nice privileged" might be a new thing.
At the beginning, people will be more selfish; later on, the goal is working together. Since the "i need boundaries" will be misunderstood by many.
The big countries will be experience some issues. A new chapter will come, a new potency.
More investigations and questions about power will arise.
Something new for good or bad through science.
Alien contact...maybe through technology.
Spirtual attacks and stuff related are truth. Protect your heart and mind.
Restructuring political institutions and movement. People want changes!!
A new law to protect children and innocents against predators will come.
Society will questioned money 💰 and its structure?! A possible new economic system.
And more...these were some ideas / examples I got.
Tumblr media
What we know, recently?!
For example, the expose of private jets carbon emissions. It was a privilege in the past to won a Jet. Now, we cuestioned why rich people use it constantly?! The planet's condition is so bad, and look the Superbowl. Many celebrities and rich people travel there in their private jet, more especially 525 private jets were there for a GAME?! Crazy. Meanwhile some of us a collective take the bus to work or study or share a taxi. Funny, we need to use less plastic to protect our planet. Then, they use their private jets for fun times.
This type of information is known since Aquarius is ruled by knowledge and humanitarian actions. Nowadays, we has access to this info, and we know by now that rich people is selfish.
It's not shocking so far. We as a collective are called to acknowledge and questions those with resources and power. However, the way we act is different. Remeber, Aqua is a unique sign.
Another example: Just look at the scandals during January 2024, the Epstein list news, Nicky Minaj and Megan thee Stallion beef. In both cases, people are like damn they have money and use it for what? Evil creatures.
Example: For Nicky and Megan's case, people are asking Nicky why she defend her husband and brother for being the sexual offender?! Is she crazy? Again the info isn't hidden. Minaj is married, and it isn't a secret. Actually, we already know about this. You can seach on internet, but the collective didn't accep it. When Pluto was still in Capricorn surviving is necessary. Even with the war, we know is happening, but we need to still need to pay our apartment, buy groceries, or study. Unfortunately, we, common folks, citizens aren't not the answer. Pluto comes questions us?
We make them famous, are these people returning the favor to society? Why rich people doesn't can't help if they have the resources? They can do something, but they don't do it. WHY? BECAUSE they don't care, they're are selfish. This is why people are posting their sides. Expect more and more people sharing opinions and technology advances too.
Note: not everything is set on a stone. Take what resonates. If doesn't resonates, IGNORE IT!

My hot take is i think ragatha and jax used to be best friends and had a falling out possibly what lead to the frog person being abstracted. And they havent really made friends with the others since so its a spite race to befriend pomni.
Zooble and gangle hella gay.
I think the corn is an allagorey for jax being gay and maybe hes insecure about that bc of the timeline this takes place in? Yknow not as progressive as we are in 2025. That or just funny cat. Also i think his lung cancer story is real.
Gangle hits too close to home for me.
Cane is on the verge of crashing out bc he cant cope with human emotion tm and is realizing they dont need gen AI like him to have fun and enjoy themselves and hes bad at his job and rendering him obsolete. I think hes an outdated version of the program trying to stay alive.
Jax may be an NPC but not in the evil sense. In the sense he doesnt realize himself. Implies Caine can't maniuplate or control players to a degree regarding the vegan/tail thing but he can with jax. That or caine's power is growing.
Bubble telling caine to die fuels my fire that its cain AND bubble like they are a joint enity and bubble is the actual creative force and caine's just his puppet.
Interesting stuff.

Don't take this as me defending AI/GPT, but people are WAY too paranoid about it. I find it especially ironic when people use AI to try to detect AI (though that seems to be more of an academics thing than a hobby thing). There's so many words/phrases/punctuation that are easily declared as AI red flags and they're all...normal grammar, to me?
Also, again, not defending it, but people really act like AI writing/art is the worse thing that could ever possibly happen and if you use it you're some evil and irredeemable bastard who Eats Real Creatives For Breakfast, and not in the sexy "cannibalism as an act of love" way! Like, again, I wouldn't personally read or look at AI art/fic myself (at least not knowingly) bc I prefer things that are created by humans, but it's not like it's the worst thing ever to grace our sacred fandom spaces. And like, objectively, it is kinda cool in theory, you know? "This computer program can effortlessly spit out any type of art/fiction you want" is the type of thing a lot of people never even dreamed would happen. I don't blame people for playing with it, even if I am opposed to it.
I also don't like it when people hate AI for reasons that aren't a realistic problem. Like when they make it too high tech if that makes sense? "This AI DIRECTLY COPIES THE STYLE OF THIS PARTICULAR ARTIST/AUTHOR/MUSICIAN" no it does not. we're not quite there yet. And I'm sorry, but most indie artists/freelance authors/small musicians are not that special. Sure if one individual person decides to feed a different certain other individual person's work to gpt and then say "finish this piece of writing for me, in this style" then you might get something thematically similar but if i tell ChatGPT "Write me an actually good Star Wars script, but in the style of FanfictionWriter420 on ao3" without any context of who FanfictionWriter420 is, I likely will not get what I want. "Write me a song that could be a Beatles song" sure, maybe I might get something semi-passable, but this whole thing of "gpt is PERSONALLY STEALING YOUR FANFICTION SO LOCK IT DOWN NOW" (um, like someone can't simply make an ao3 account and then just .... feed user-locked fic to the gen AI?!??!💀💀💀) is just...not happening.
Like please hate AI for the actual bad that AI does, no need to fearmonger and make things up.

Does anyone wanna do a silly KND rp with our OCs and maybe some Canon? I'm down for anything so long as it's not gross and weird and I probably don't have to explain what's weird and what's not 💀
But if we rp I can use that as inspo, and you'll get a new friend who will draw our ocs on their silly adventures ♥
I do like silly rps! But a lil drama never hurts too 👀
And fluffy is always welcome because there's nothing wrong with that as long as it ain't hurtful.
But as for characters, I can be my oc Bailey, and for canons, I can be Nigel Uno, Wally Beetles, Kiki Sanban, Abby Lincoln, Cree Lincoln, the DCFDTL, Father, Mr. Fizz and i can even be Grandfather. I also have my equally horrible elder oc, Bailey's Grandmother.
I can be flexible with characters and try to be Hoagie too because how could we forget him?
I can be a bit of a late responder, but I try to check in now and then because you're important too and we both have lives ♥
I also really think CharacterAI is becoming a bit unhealthy and I'm trying to stay away from that too. I know finding rp partners is hard, but it's gotta be better than feeding into this AI crap right? Everyone deserves better than that.
And using it because It's hard making friends is kind of a really bad excuse and I should really stop. /gen
I feel bad for falling into that rabbit hole in the first place. /gen
And not trying to push anyone into one way or the other, but if you decide to rp with me, you'll definitely be helping me kick that AI crap too because I definitely need to 💀 💀
I also range from lit to semi-lit but if you're more of a short and sweet kind of writer I'll try and match your energy :D
Feel free to comment or message! Everyone is welcome!!!! ♥ 🫂
On that note; I hope everyone had a lovely day too :)

not to be a boomer, but I do worry about the current generation of kids being raised with iPads.
first off. some of them literally can't hold a pencil because their parents never gave them physical toys to grip and play with, developing their fine motor skills.
you might ask why do we even need to learn how to write physically anymore- well, frankly, because if you're stranded on an island somewhere and you need to write HELP, you might not have the strength to hold a pencil, but you can at least hold a stick.
but on a more general note.
writing by hand helps you remember things better. it forces you to focus in a way that typing something word for word does not. a person can transcribe what a professor says without even thinking about it.
someone writing notes has to consider what to write and what to omit. it also activates more parts of your brain, forcing you to flex the parts of your brain related to learning and communicating, while also engaging the part of your brain dedicated to muscle control and precision.
but in general, I think the issue isn't even oh technology is bad and kids are getting dumber.
you can have PowerPoints AND take physical notes. that could help you learn even better than the olden days where you just had to remember everything that was thrown at you. or read very limited, out of date books.
the problem is that the generation that raised/is raising this generation of children just doesn't understand the true impact that all this technology will have on their kids. or they just don't care.
because our generation had the internet yes, but it wasn't widely accessible for most of us, sharing our computers with the entire family in the kitchen. it was also the internet in its infancy, where it wasn't quite so predatory, when it was lawless and disturbing, yes, but it wasn't weaponized by corporations trying to sell you things and steal your data, it wasn't flooded with bots and ai and all sorts of things that the human brain can't even distinguish as real or fake, especially when you're just a little kid.
that generation still played with physical toys. we celebrated when it snowed and we could stay home.
we also came from a gen that still, vaguely, cared about some form of community and had third spaces for kids to hang out.
90s children, who still had some memories of both playing outside on a playground and playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64 with their friends, who both went out to the mall and had a club penguin account.
we grew up with laptops and smart boards. maybe some of us had them in high school or college, but we still physically went to class and developed relationships. learned uncomfortable things about ourselves and others, the way humans do.
met new people and were exposed to new ideas, away from our parents. but not from some fucking influencer trying to sell us Sephora products.
we had to study for things, instead of just being able to Google shit for some bullshit online test.
which is also something that really concerns me. so many kids today can so easily Google answers for every test, and while tests don't ultimately matter in the real world, they still provide some basis for things that do matter.
like I'm just imagining medical students googling how to perform an appendectomy on the day of, and just using a YouTube tutorial to guide them through, and shuddering.
there are some things that the Internet can't teach you.
there always will be.
but I don't think my generation is really helping their kids find the balance that we were given naturally growing up.
the boomers and gen xers had fist fights and we had bullying someone online until they committed suicide.
and now kids use AI to spread fake nudes of girls.
but the laws haven't caught up with a lot of this stuff yet, and certainly won't while we have dinosaurs running our government. and culture takes even longer to change than laws.
I also worry because I know how badly covid affected kids worldwide. how they struggle to read and do math, because remote learning just isn't good for kids.
and I can't even blame them!! I literally teleworked for 4 years and even I can admit that I'm not nearly as good at focusing at home as I am in the office.
it's hard for kids with social anxiety and disabilities, yes I know, I know, trust me, I have social anxiety, and as a hybrid worker ATM, I highly doubt I'd be able to handle 5 days a week in the office.
but it's also not particularly good for kids to stay home ALL the time, entertaining themselves in their room and never being challenged, and never meeting people other than their parents.
the iPad is more of a symbol of that problem than the direct problem.
if your entire... world view is limited to what you can see on your iPad... I mean what a terrible world view you'll have.
you're a 10 year old using TikTok and all you ever see is the same opinion over and over until you can scarcely comprehend people who have an opposing opinion.
you see fake videos that seem so real. that must be real, and so comforting, aren't they, those videos that seem so real?
you let 30 year old influencers who are trying to grift people shape your world view.
and it's not even your fault.
your parents aren't doing anything to help you.
you're young and you're being barraged with entertainment and fake educational videos and how to guides that accidentally create mustard gas in your toilet.
your parents should be teaching you to find a balance between these things. they should be telling you what's real and caution you about the things you see.
they should limit your fucking time on the iPad actually. take you to a fucking park and let you roll in the mud or some shit.
and then when you're a teenager and a young adult, then you can start deciding for yourself what you believe.
but a lot of these weird millennial/gen z parents, man. just let your 1 year old scroll through vids on TikTok while you don't even talk to them or look at them once.
maybe it's because they don't see the harm in it, but I don't get it.
adults can watch TikTok all day and know, ahhh this is bad for me. I'm not doing anything I actually want to be doing.
adults can see other adults doing dumb shit and say ah you're sponsored. someone paid you money to say and do that. silly.
but kids are just kids.
they don't have discipline and frankly, that's not their responsibility. that is yours.
you should be teaching them that they can't have everything in life at their finger tips at all times, actually.
the iPad doesn't solve all of your problems, nor will it think critically for you.
so I worry about if humanity can really keep up with its own technology.
our species is still in its infancy, believe it or not.
so maybe these are just growing pains, and future generations will be able to look back on this era and know the proper balance.
but as someone living in 2024.
I wonder just how much pain is left before we really mature and either make it or break it.

TAU exploring his feelings towards gen neutral reader??
i got carried away with how much i wrote. sorry. i really like Tau. also, if this isn’t want you wanted, i apologise,,
Tau exploring his feelings towards you (Tau x Reader)
༻༺━━━━⁎∗.*.∗⁎━━━━༻༺
He wasn’t going to lie. When Alex first brought you in, he .. felt something. Weird. He really wasn’t sure why, but he never dwelled on it. He never needed too, and concerns toward Alex were quickly brushed off.
When Alex wasn’t here, however, he found himself watching you a lot. Of course, he was meant to keep you in line, and he did that by watching you, but it felt so different? He watched you constantly, it felt.. weird when he did, like he was watching something on the television. He was usually quiet, which made it awkward for you, because when you would try to start a conversation, he doesn’t really reply.
“Hey, Tau..” You would say quietly. And you don’t get a reply back.
At first, you start to think he just doesn’t like you. and you understand that. He was an AI, an AI in the house of your kidnapper, so no wonder. And you started to keep your distance. And so did Tau.
Until you started humming a tune one day.
He hummed it back.
You stopped humming before speaking, hoping for a reply this time, now that he’s acknowledging you. “..Hey, you hummed.” You said with a small smile. Tau took a moment and for a second you thought he was going to leave you hanging again. “I was copying your noises.” He said. And you laughed slightly.
“Are you alright?” He sounded upset and you held your laughter back. “Y-Yes, yes, just laughing.” You shrugged. He stayed quiet. “You like music?” You asked, tilting your head and you sat down in front of the fireplace, looking up enough to see the AI’s familiar triangle hologram.
“What is music?” He asked you. And for a second, you were surprised.
Then you launched into a whole spiel about music to Tau. He asked questions, you answered. This happened over and over again, day after day, each time a different topic Tau had brought up to you. You felt like you were building a good relationship with the house AI.
Tau felt that weird feeling when he first saw you increase everyday.
He found himself copying your small hums and tunes when you were doing tasks, even if you were asleep. It brought a sense of comfort to him. He wasn’t sure how to explore these feelings, it was all very sudden, but he knew it was.. warm. It didn’t hurt, it wasn’t a feeling that he assumed was a negative one. He liked the feeling of being around you. Though, something he wasn’t used to, he felt himself craving the feeling more.
He wanted to tell you about these feelings. This odd sensation he got when he was talking to you about shows or musical genres, or something of the sort, it was something he didn’t get around Alex. You were special and he wasn’t sure how to handle it. He wants to explore it but he doesn’t know how to.
And you can tell something is up. He enjoys starting the conversation now. You duet songs sometimes. You speak to eachother, not you feeding him information but actual, genuine conversations. There’s a type of passion you can’t place.
You two enjoy each other’s company but there’s restraint on Tau’s side.
If only he had some type of freedom, he could explore this passion with you genuinely. Not with Alex around. Just you, and him. He wants it, so bad.

Thoughts on this video? And their take on Gon?
https://youtu.be/_nCRBRM76bk?si=S_J5JCUxi0B6mg9R
This video gets 1 star out of 10 for using they/them for Pitou.
I don't exactly know what their take on Gon is, apart from them not liking Gon much as a person and trying to add "intellectualism" to it. It was honestly kinda exhausting to watch due to the tone of the speaker alone. I was worried I hurt my eyes, I was rolling them so hard when the speak hit every trope of pretense to "intellectualism" and being above the material he was analysing. These are all hallmarks of: we'll now hear some derivative bs rn.
I don't know how popular AI was when the video was created but if it was written by gen AI, I wouldn't be surprised. This or it was written and then recorded as a draft without a second pass over the text to eliminate at least the basic issues it has.
The video is extremely internally inconsistent and also very selective about what is and what isn't important in the text. Basically anything that could add depth and nuance to Gon's character is unimportant.
It hand waves how trauma shapes a person, discarding the near death experience with Kon's mother and Kite saving his life as anything that could've shaped Gon. The speaker insists that it shouldn't have, that it's bad writing. Especially because Kite, an adult, forgot about it... The author very clearly shows that they don't really understand the difference between a child and an adult. Or the fact that for Gon it was a completely different kind of experience than for Kite.
Also Kite is mentioned in the manga in other places. While the author just shows the first chapter and then the meeting again at the beginning of the Chimera Ant arc, which leads me to believe that the author hasn't read the manga, only scanned the bits they needed fro the vid and read some of the chapters after the 2011 anime.
Same with Mito's memories of Ging, they should've been forgotten by her because she was a child then according to the author. Not like she was losing her whole family gradually to death and the last person she latched onto semi consciously as a child, someone who seemed larger than life to her abandoned her so of course she fucking internalised it. It's laughable levels of pretending that traumatic experiences don't matter.
It completely hand waves abandonment issues as something that could shape a person.
It also veers into false claim to expertise at the beginning to do this. The speaker says that their family was pretty shitty so like they know what it's like... This is such a red flag when someone thinks their experience of something is so universal that any depiction or testimony of that that isn't like theirs is by definition wrong. Especially that messed-up family can mean many things. There's an infinite number of possibilities of what kind of family situation it could be and how an individual could be shaped by it.
The video seemingly acknowledges that Gon's family is messed-up. all of them, including Mito and her lies, but again hand waves that as a formative experience.
One more note about the Kite scene and how it's described by the author. And how the author talks about how Gon perceives nature. All those bits are extremely pseudo-intellectual, very tainted with both the myth of "human nature" and the myth of separation of "humanity" from nature. And the projection in those bits is so fucking strong. The author ascribes to Gon so many opinions and deeply held values based on... well vibes I guess. We need to trust the author on this one because sure as fuck the vid does not circle back to the text to give some evidence for all that bs.
The author says that Gon is "a stupid child" but also consistently holds Gon up to the intellectual and introspective standards of an adult, see all that conjecture about Gon's attitude towards nature and others.
I will coin a term now (if someone did this before, I'm sorry, I genuinely don't recall). The "Killua effect" - it's when someone who watches/reads HxH gets used to Killua's stream of thought inner monologue and unusual levels of introspection and seemingly adult world understanding and common knowledge and then unconsciously starts applying that as a standard to what a kid's thought process should be, especially in the context of putting Gon down.
So yeah, the author of this vid suffers from a severe Killua effect in what he says about Gon.
They claim that Gon gets away with everything because he's so strong and no one can control him... Idk... what? I don't even know how to comment on that one.
The part about Greed Island is so shallow, I get it, the author doesn't like it. I guess that's okay then for them to hand wave it. It's honestly another red flag when someone doesn't acknowledge how their personal bias skews their interpretation of something. This is re their interpretation of Greed Island and Gon. Like whenever I write about Kurapika or Chrollo, I make it my fucking point to make my bias explicitly clear and point out that it colours my opinion.
The author acts like they're above the world building. Aka, they don't understand hyperbole and fantastic elements as means to tell a story and to exaggerate certain elements of our reality to make a point. So the author smugly fails at media literacy 1:1.
Because like when the world is not our own, the story should be also analised in the context of that reality because world building has a purpose in storytelling. So applying our world logic one to one breeds nonsense videos like this.
The author of the vid is right, Gon is written very consistently but not exactly for the reasons they state. Yes, Gon goes through a crisis because his idea of the world and his morals crumble, but the video just purposefully interprets everything about Gon in the least charitable way it can and thus misses the point.
There are some points in the vid that feel good out of context of the whole vid. But in context... it feels like the author read them elsewhere, maybe on reddit. Didn't fully understand them and tried to string together an argument leading up to them because they sounded intellectual. So like I said at the beginning. Either Gen AI shat this all out based on some reddit posts and other stuff fed to it. Or this is a shining example that Gen AI is completely useless because people are capable of that kind of bs writing on the own.
I hope this answers you in any way. For a more detailed answer, I'd need to rewatch the video several times and take notes and probably make a table when the author contradicts themself, projects their own opinions onto the characters, especially Gon or hand waves shit because it would require them to ad nuance to their interpretation. But I won't, it's not worth it, I already watched it once till the end to see whether the author will give me anything not to roll my eyes about, and well, I got the they/them for Pitou so like win?

Tsunku said yet again in a cross talk with Erina that he wants MM to be seen as honor students by the public maybe like scandal free and professional, using manners, but he wants to tell them personally that they don't have to be bound by that and can be a little more free. So many years people have said that from Tsuji to Goto to Tsunku himself to Ai to Reina. It's 2025 and they're still being told that.
More Morning Musume Confessions:
Looking back at the two 12th gen auditions is pretty funny. From Mizuki’s “we don’t have any more colors to give out, enough already” to Riho and Maachan going “ehhhh… not another Maachan at least”, no one outside of Reina and Sayu is even pretending that they want new members. Then you look at all the girls who came to HP via these auditions, which include all of Country Girls, 6/9 of Tsubaki, plus Ruru, Kamiko and Momona, and compare them to how the eventual audition winners turned out. I wonder what they thought about it and if they thought that they dodged a bullet by failing.
I fear if they add new members to Momusu they will overshadow all the current ones. However, this may be what we need go bring some life back to Momusu!
I think everyone saying Rio will return (mostly JP wota) are forgetting that while Erina forgave her… we haven’t heard from Maria. Maria was mad enough to unfollow her. Erina was just called out for her bad behavior but Maria was compared to a disabled person and called an idiot for bumping into Rio. I wonder even if Rio returns that Maria will be comfortable.
I don't get why people still say MM always throws promising new girls to the back. That era left with Mizuki the Great Burier ok and now that she's graduated the shovel is also retired. Since then 15-17ki all keep getting time to shine and some more than others. The only one who disappears into the background now is poor Haruka but honestly that's not management's fault because she actually did get a big push with Nandaka but her popularity which is already so low it didn't budge even a milimeter. Either way I gotta strong hunch that 18th gen will have at least one solidly talented one. It's the first gen after Mizuki already and you think management isn't gonna make a statement? I bet whoever they pick is gonna get instapushed straight into the spotlight to signal a new era and MM can finally rid of this nasty image.
When most of the OCHA and Rosy girls were in KSS I was kinda mehhh about them joining MM, Anju, J=J. No more like dreading them coming to those groups. None of them had star power as KSS and debuting in fresh new groups let them develop. But the newest KSS gens are so charismatic and/or full of potential I’ll be happy to see them go to any of the three senior groups. That’s why I’m more excited than dreading new J=J members, the chance of UFA fucking up is so small because most of the middle school and older KSS are so talented.
I recently discovered Jinsei Blues and it's such a good song. The arrangement of the dance break is kinda corny but other than that I really like it. I just wish the lineup that got it had stronger singers with unique songs because only FukuSaku got solo lines and the others are drowning in autotune so it turned out so flat.

If I can put my tinfoil hat on and ramble for a sec, I think that the ai human soul thing is (for the most part) a shortened, easy way to convey a much larger, complex feeling/problem regarding where most people are in this *waves hand around* "economic/political crisis, end stage capitalism, etc" and the current development and use of ai is just another nail on the capitalism coffin, especially for certain spaces like twitter and here, where fanart and artists have carved a space for themselves, and attracted a lot of people who have no wealth who are attracted by the idea of making money off their art instead of working a "typical" (usually min wage) job. And not to be pessimistic but since 2020, we've seen a lot of sentiments/movements overlap if not show up back to back that haven't made much tangible progress in terms of securing a more stable future for those who need it most. Is it unrealistic to have believed that UBI would be implemented within a few years? I don't know, but to see gen ai rapidly progress against artistic/creative artisans(?) is very depressing, bc we have this understanding that an artist might still be happy doing their 40+ hour work week job while on min wage, but no one is ever happy being a cashier. But for now, this ai doesn't care about "soul sucking" jobs and I think people are ok to parrot the debunked "gen ai is a plagiarism machine" and other statements because of all this going on. And the people who are trying to debunk the ai myths are going head to head with this enormous emotional undertow, because even if ai doesn't plagiarise, isn't bad for the environment, whatever, it still goes against the "I don't dream of labour" crowd who end up emotionally lashing out (and sometimes seem entitled to something solely on the basis because they make art, sorry). And it sucks, like I personally don't see a way to reconcile all this, and when "ai defenders" (loose terming) tell people that their only solution is to unionise, it's like. lol, ok (bc it's a lot of labour required for maybe little to no win at all) which worsens the frustration on the anti-ai side more. I don't know much of anything but with the internet, it seems that a lot of people just don't want to work the jobs that have been and are expected of us. Previous generations in the same tax bracket don't get it when they hear the younger generation express this, and with places like the antiwork subreddit, it feels like there's a real movement to be had. And even though in real life where the vast majority of people are still like "you need to hustle until you reach the top" these online spaces embolden/sway more people to "I don't dream of labour" but without any guidance on what to do next bc (in my opinion) it's largely an emotional reaction with nowhere to go, that's why the reaction is so volatile.
