NO BECAUSE YES I'D DO THAT WITH NO SHAME. Neuvillette's so traditional with his nicknames - "my love, darling, honey, beloved, etc ❤️" and then you're like "my lovely otter i missed you 😄!" And he just pauses for a second. Like. Did he really just hear that? Surely it was a mistake? But nope. You actually called him an otter. "my love, could you... explain?" And then you start listing off all the similarities and Neuvillette sits there patiently listening to your TED Talk.

It would be even more funny if you don't know he's a dragon, and actually believe he's some kind of otter 😭 He would just roll with it and indulge you, he actually loves your sense of humor.

like this man is SO SO SOOO PROUD OF YOU 👏 whatever you achieve, whenever you pass your exams, WHATEVER YOU DO THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, he will be so proud of you ☹️ like he can’t help but shed a tear when he sees how happy you are — the way your eyes light up, the way your lips curve up into a wide smile — makes him want to just pick you up and spin you around (and sometimes he does)

he makes sure to encourage you to keep doing well and makes sure to reward you with whatever you want (he already knows what you want he just wants to ask you anyway and he already knows you’re going to say “anything, i don’t mind!”)

he picks you up at the EXACT time when you ask him too. like if you ask him to pick you up at 6:00 pm or whatever time, once you’re looking out the window you have to take a double look because you can literally see his car parked right next to your place.

“nevy i told you to come at 6?”

“it is 6:00 my love, check the time.”

AND GOD DAMN IS HE RIGHT. you check your phone and see that is 6:00 pm on the dot. and you’re not even done yet..

he waits for however long and he does NOT complain. sometimes he asks if he could come in and watch you do your makeup or fix your clothes that he bought for you. and he watches you in awe as you do your thing like that’s my girl!!!

he holds the door for you. i know it’s small but even the smallest amount of kindess are rare.. so whenever he holds the door for you, you SWEAR you can feel something clutching your heart.

before you can even put a finger on the car handle he softly pushes your hand away and opens the car door for you, kissing your temple in the process.

he buys you your favourite drink and food while on his way to pick you up or going to your college.

once you mention something to neuvillette about something you like (even if it’s small) he WILL remember it. one time you had said to neuvillette that you wanted to try the new drink from starbucks and before you know it the next day while waiting for neuvillette near the college, he handed you the new drink.

same with food, he buys you your favourite food from the cafeteria (he likes to see your happy face when he places the tray down). neuvillette makes you your comfort food, and he only buys it when he doesn’t have time to make it.

when you’re in a bad mood or just need to cry, he’s quick to comfort you before making you your comfort food. it doesn’t matter how long it takes, he knows you’ll be happy in the end.

this may be a bit.. weird? but he tucks you into bed before climbing in next to you as well.

IDC WHAT U SAY HE LIKES TUCKING YOU INTO BED AND KISSING YOUR FOREHEAD!!! like it makes him feel so happy and all giddy inside.

it makes him 100x more happier when he realises that one day he could do that to your children.. just the idea of it makes his heart flutter.

but yes. he can’t sleep properly until you give him a forehead kiss OR ANY KISS ANYWHERE back.

neuvillette always MUST have his hand somewhere on you, or just be touching you in some way.

at the start of your relationship and even before you two were together, he wasn’t so touchy or handsy with you.. but after some time he grew more confident and even more comfortable with you

whenever he’s walking along beside you, he has his arm around your waist of his hand on your waist, sometimes he pulls you close to him in a large and crowded place where your hips are touching. or even if it’s him leaning behind you, his chest against your back.

(RHSHAIAJAIENEJSHAJIS YOU’RE GONNA GO INSANE AND FERAL BECAUSE OF THIS MANNNN)

he would buy you snacks and sweets that he knows you enjoy, or even just buying snacks you’ve never tried before to see if it could maybe be your new favourite snack.

neuvillette just rests his cheek on his hand as he admires you enjoying your snacks. sometimes you stop eating and stare at him before offering him the snacks, neuvillette denies them and just goes on to watching you eat. you’re just so adorable.

HE MAKES YOU HOMEMADE GIFTS INSTEAD OF BUYING THEM!! like yes, he still buys you gifts but i feel like neuvillette would find homemade gifts more romantic and better than buying gifts.

nevy watches those youtube or tiktok videos on how to “make it yourself: pop up minecraft heart card” stuff like that you know? he tries his very best so please don’t be mad at him when it’s very sloppy looking 😭

he also gifts you handmade matching bracelets that he made, his is baby blue (and other shades of blue) and white and yours is f/c with another of your f/c. to be honest, you kind of.. sobbed when he gave them to you like? really? you made these cute little matching bracelets for us both..? and you included my favourite colours? EEUUUHUUUUUUUUU

you look up at him,

!!!! gives you his jacket whenever he sees you’re cold and shivering!!!! and he is bigger than you (probably) so his jacket is definitely larger than you and he will never get enough of looking at you in his clothing.

and when you give him back his jacket? he shakes his head and tells you that it’s yours now.

he lectures you or just informs you about what you did wrong and tells you what you should’ve done before.

when you’re in the wrong, and aruging with someone he WILL back you up whether you’re wrong or not, but behind closed doors he sits you down and gives you a talk about what you said was wrong and you get the deal.

this is one of the MAAAANNNY reasons of why your parents and friends love him, he knows what’s wrong and right and can guide you to the right path.

he admires you as you’re asleep, the streaks of sunlight seeping through the blinds and lighting up the room. he swears that you’re an angel.

his finger caressing your cheek softly as he moves your hair strand from your face, and he kisses your face, your cheeks, nose, forehead, eyes and neck. everything about you is so… beautiful.

he can’t take his eyes off of you, and as you stirr awake he makes to kiss your temple and mumble his good morning.

guys, this is a pretty big one but, he helps out with chores!! he does the laundry for you, washing his and your clothes together. or even washing the dishes. and everytime you see him with an apron on… god bless the whole house.

he just wants to take care of you ☹️

he NEVER EVERRR lets you pay the bills!! if he ever did it would have to be split.

he won’t hesitate (will) to fight you over the bill. and the waiter just stands there holding the payment terminal just.. smiling.. waiting for either neuvillette or you to just pay.

neuvillette 100% day dreams about you two having a family. he can just imagine what your children would be looking like and sometimes he just wants to kick his feet and giggle like a child.

he would never tell you about this though, he’s too embarrassed. maybe one day but honestly, if he ever did tell you, you should tell him that you thought about your future children too.

HE BUYS YOU CLOTHING THAT HE KNOWS WOULD LOOK GOOD ON YOU. but you look good in everything so he just buys it because he wants to see you in it :)

doesn’t matter if it’s expensive or not, revealing yea but.. lingerie is only for him to see so.. doesn’t hurt.

Last song listened to: Be my Everything (English Version). It’s a solo song from one of the members of a K-pop group named Purple Kiss, and it’s fantastic! Great vocals, even though I do prefer the other song from the single more.

Currently Watching: Nashville (2013) and the new season of The Dragon Prince. I only have one episode of Nashville left and it’s the finale, so that’s pretty sad. I’m three episodes into season 5 of Dragon Prince and really liking it! I’m glad the animation has improved since the beginning.

Currently Reading: Nothing now. I just finished Dear Mothman by Robin Gow and loved it though! It is written for young teens, but it’s a really great queer narrative and is written through some very nice free verse poetry.

Current Obession: It’s mainly Skyrim (liked it so much I made a Tumblr blog for it, after all), but since I talk a lot about that, I’ll also mention Hollow Knight. I’m playing it right now and it’s very hard, but very good! I like how little handholding it does.

There's actually a spot in-game where all the otters hang out after you free them from some cages and monsters and stuff so you take him there 🥺 And they automatically just SWARM y'all and Neuvillette doesn't have any outward reaction but inside he's dying because both you and the otters look adorable- and then he looks to see you holding one right next to him and suddenly you're pointing to the blue stripes on the otter's head and then to his horns and continuing your theory,, the otter is like 🥺 while he is like 😶

Okay but. You definitely start naming the otters while he's just there like 🧍‍♀️ and then you start encouraging him to name one too!! They're like your little babies 🥺 and sometimes he even visits them without you (you got him attached but he won't say anything)

       "Your hair... It's becoming long again, Eir."

       La Signora's well manicured nails raked through their coffee locks with a gentleness she did not display often, tenderly working apart the tangles that had formed due to their lack of care and attention. A fire crackled on in the background, filling what would have been empty silence. The warm flames danced against their skin, mingling with the wistful glitter in their eyes, and similarly kissing the Eighth's face with a warmth she was both familiar and unfamiliar with.

       Said woman grimaced when her finger got caught on a particularly stubborn knot, a small crack now forming in her well cared for nail.

       "Archons above... your hair is thick enough to break my nails."

       "Sorry. I'll take you out to get a manicure done soon, okay?"

       "Hmph. Fine. That is compensation enough."

       "Well, that didn't take much convincing," Eir mused teasingly, to which she swatted their shoulder. "Okay, okay! I get it!"

       "Do you not take care of your hair? Of yourself?" she grumbled, taking a brush to their hair and working apart that particular knot with it rather than her fingers. They didn't reply. "Your silence speaks a thousand words. Take better care of yourself, Eir. I mean it."

       They giggled at her agitation, joking, "Why? I can just cut the damaged parts off if it gets too tangled. You think I'd look good with short hair?"

       "No."

       They laughed again, making the Fair Lady's lips twitch upwards. 'Such a beautiful sound,' she thought. 'Ah, this world is far too cruel for you, Eir...'

       "Aw. It looks so fierce and powerful on some folks. Why not me?"

       "There are some people who can effectively pull off such a look," she agreed, nodding, "but you are not one of them, my dear. If you want a technical answer"—she leaned forward, cupping their cheeks and squishing their face to her heart's content before leaning back again and continuing on with the task at hand—"it's the shape of your face. The structure of your bones. Anything that goes above your ears would not frame your face well."

       "Well... I trust you, Rosalyne. I mean, look at you—you are literally drop-dead gorgeous. I'd imagine you of all people would know what is best for my appearance."

       "You flatter me."

       "As I should."

       Rosalyne smiled, genuinely smiled that time, setting the brush aside and gingerly brushing their hair back over their shoulders. Finally. When their hair wasn't tangled, it was really quite beautiful.

       "Would you like me to cut it again?"

       "If you would."

       "Very well, then."

       Their reflection in the window they were situated in front of looked... tired. They could vaguely make out the shape of their star irises against the bleak darkness, caused by the raging blizzard outside.

       ...Damn. How were they going to leave without getting hypothermia? Not that it would kill them of all people, of course, but it'd be nice to leave dry and warm instead of wet and cold.

       They supposed they would cross that bridge when they got to it. For now, it was no concern of theirs.

       Hair shears snipped away at inch after inch of their hair. With each cut, Rosalyne's nails raked again through their locks to release any loosened strands that were a bit more stubborn than the others.

       "There," she murmured softly, only for their ears to hear. The shears were set aside just as the brush had been. "Is this short enough? I can cut it more if you'd like."

       "No. This is perfect. Thank you."

       Rosalyne leaned forward slightly, again cupping their face in her hands. Her thumbs brushed over their cheeks. With gentle guidance, she turned their face to the right towards her vanity.

       "The glass will never do you justice, Eir. It distorts your appearance in ways unbefitting of someone of your grace."

       Grace?

       They would hardly describe themselves in such a way, but they appreciated her sentiment.

       Their reflection in the mirror was indeed more appealing than what had been shown to them in the dark glass—she was certainly not wrong about that. However, the tiredness still remained, but... surely that was to be expected.

       Immortality was an exhausting burden.

       "Hehe... you know me very well, don't you?"

       "I would hope so," she scoffed. "It would be shameful if I didn't. Five centuries is quite a lengthy time to get to know someone."

       "Indeed," they agreed. "You and I were quite different people back then. I appreciate that our difference in paths is not enough to deter you from continuing our friendship."

       It was quiet for a moment, but then, Rosalyne sighed. Her hand was gentle against their cheek, as if she could not risk being rough with them, as if they would shatter if she ever did.

       "I am certain it is only because I am not here to take revenge on Celestia. I never was."

       "You never were," they echoed, musingly. "No... I don't believe that. You needn't lie to me. You are here to serve the Tsaritsa's will and avenge Rostam in the process—I understand, I do, Rosalyne. I just don't think violence will help in the way she thinks it will. You cannot remedy one genocide with another. An eye for an eye and the world goes blind, as the saying goes."

       "...This is where our ideologies differ."

       They smiled wistfully. "It is, but that's fine. I love you regardless."

       She did not say it back. Her lips parted—as if she desperately wanted to—but then shut again and pressed into a thin line. It... troubled her, her inability to express the love she most certainly held for her friend, but vulnerability was something she had long since forsaken.

       Eir did not take it personally.

       Then, a knock resounded throughout the surprisingly comfortable silence that had settled within Rosalyne's quarters. Her eyebrow twitched with annoyance.

       Nonetheless, she replied as smoothly as she could manage:

       "You may enter. Make it quick."

       With trembling hands, a much lower-ranked Fatui agent entered her room, bowing their head respectfully. "My lady, you are needed elsewhere—"

       "What?" the Harbinger sneered, fingers flexing slightly on their cheek but not tightening their grip at all. "Explain. Now. I do not have the time nor the patience for this today."

       The agent looked as if they were about to cry. Poor thing.

       "Lo— Lord Pierro has requested your— um, your presence, Lady Eighth."

       If looks could kill, they just knew the poor agent would have dropped cold and dead by now.

       Eir tenderly carressed her palm with one of their hands, leaning into her touch. A small kiss was placed on her scarred hands. Rosalyne's shoulders relaxed a little.

       "Go. It's fine. I'll be fine."

       "Eir," she huffed, thumb stroking over their cheekbone, "when do we ever get to spend time such as this together? Can he not simply wait—"

       "Rosa. I don't want to get you in trouble. I mean, I will tell all of your superiors to go fuck themselves if they so much as look at you wrong, but... you know, that's me. You don't have that same luxury. So, go."

       She didn't seem convinced, so they continued.

       "You and I have all the time in the world, love. You know that."

       "...Fine."

       Rosalyne stood up, the tapping of her heels gradually getting further away. Then, a door opened and closed just as quickly.

       Just like that, she was gone, and somehow the fire's warmth felt a little colder in her absence.
