Linnahall, the behemoth of a building on Tallinn seaside, is off limits for the next couple of weeks because Christopher Nolan is filming his next blockbuster here and elswhere in Tallinn. The building has been closed for years now, but its walkable roof is among the most popular hangout places for tallinners. Inside the building there's a concert hall with 4200 seats, and an ice rink with 3000. Linnahall was designed by Raine Karp with help from Riina Altmäe. Side facade of Sakala Center in Tallinn, originally the Political Education Building for the local Communist Party. Designed by Raine Karp (and partly by Toivo Kallas), completed in 1985. Later, the building was used for all sorts of cultural events. Unfortunately, the exceptionally well-built and well-furnished building was almost completely demolished - save for the tower not seen in the photo - in 2007 and is now replaced by a much larger shopping centre named Solaris with two cinemas and concert hall.
