i'm sure this has been said before but the way rvb handles relationships and how love, both romantic and platonic, is shown and portrayed makes me weak. none of it is physically affectionate — or, if it is, it's not the Typical affection you would see
it's just.. the way characters treat each other. the things they do. the body language around each other. what they risk. not all of it is stated so firmly but you read inbetween the lines and you find out just how much fucking love is stored in these minute actions
some specific instances that come to mind are yorklina's whole relationship, how their relationship isn't typically stated as necessarily romantic or dating, but what they do and what HAPPENS to them, how devastated york is about losing her, and carolina's grief when he dies. the way she keeps the lighter, even after everything.
another is after the s8 tex fight, when tex is beating church with his own body. it's comedic, yeah, but it's also just. she beat the shit out of four guys right before this. she could literally toss church across the floor. she's just playing with him. fucking teasing him. and that's just scratching the surface of everything with chex and the way they love
as for inferences. inferred relationships and how characters care for eachother, i also think so fucking much about the surgery in blood gulch. sarge has been wanting grif dead since day one, and with tex gone, it's not like they would necessarily have a disadvantage. the teams would be even. he could've let grif die and done something else with simmons' body parts. BUT.
i honestly think simmons volunteered his body parts to save grif. i think about it so much. there's no way sarge would've otherwise. him acting indignant about it is just an act because he's an asshole who doesn't know how to deal with his feelings. but he does care about grif, despite what he says time and time again.
idk. peace and love in are ve bee
