Q4 OF THE EX-MORNING: PRODUCTION INSIGHTS!!!
Tumblr media
Y'ALL!!! We’re up to Q4 of The Ex-Morning, and today we have some exciting details about who’s working on the production. I just found something that made me go, “AWWW!” and I'M HERE TO SHARE MY GIDDINESS.
Okay, so! The Ex-Morning is set to be a kind of meta narrative based on KristSingto themselves, which is fitting considering that's what SOTUS accidentally was. The director, Lit, also directed SOTUS, so there're a lot of intentional parallels going on between their first and this upcoming series.
This morning, Lit posted this video from the set:
Apart from the cameras just looking really interesting (Singto's probably having a blast), I was curious if the crew had posted any other crumbs of information because I’m feral and this is how I channel it. In the video we have Nidchaya Boonsiripunth, a cinematographer, and Nidchaya did indeed post a bunch of stories yesterday and today of fellow production crew.
Two of the crew she posted have private accounts, but this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
appears to be the acting coach on set. I'll be keeping an eye on him. [not-creepy eyeball emoji]
I also wanted to know what else the cinematographer has worked on, so I went to their MyDramaList and perused their list of cinematography credits. Right away I noticed that they've worked with Lit a fair bit. Love in Translation, Dangerous Romance, upcoming GL Mate, etc.
But at the very start of their cinematography career?
You wanna see what's at the very beginning?
In 2018?
Do you?
WILL YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE FUCK I FOUND IN 2018
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KRISTSINGTO'S MOTHERFUCKING OUR SKYY EPISODE, MOTHERFUCKERS.
IS THAT NOT FUCKING ADORABLE?
THEY HAVE SIXTEEN CINEMATOGRAPHY CREDITS NOW!!! THEIR FIRST CINEMATOGRAPHY CREDIT WAS FOR KRISTSINGTO'S LAST BL ROLES TOGETHER AND NOW THEY'RE WORKING ON KRISTSINGTO'S COMEBACK BL SERIES.

i binged love mechanics bc you keep pulling it out as a reference point btw. i fucking love homewreckers & i especially love homewreckers who kind of feel bad about what they're doing but not enough to stop. mark's move of accepting the umbrella bc he wants this interaction to be over but stalking out into the pouring rain with the umbrella in his hand & refusing to use it & just getting drenched is the most iconic move of all time. incredible show & i have no complaints even though i have many complaints
Aaaaaaah teehee so glad you watched my favorite trainwerck. The writers duo (Phi Pongset/Phi Pratya) we have on Dangerous Romance worked together on mega hits like Bad Buddy, the 2gether series and A tale of a 1000 stars but Love Mechanics is from the same writer/ director duo. That’s their toxic baby. Even though I find that DR has huge Addicted Heroin (China !) roots I know the spirit of Vee’s inconsistent bisexual ass lives in Kanghan. « I can’t live without you but oh well what’s self reflection » GANG. Rip to my nerves.

Another Pe(ray)achtober piece for today (it’s Day 29 of Peachtober 2024), featuring another The Ex-Morning bit. At one point, I really wished Pathapee (Krist Perawat) and Tamtawan (Singto Prachaya) would have fixed their own issues, and I hope that they have given their relationship a second chance once they have forgiven each other for their shortcomings. That way, their torn couple portrait could have fixed (this is why today is #peachtober24break day)—you know, with a little bandage and some help from the Peraya bunch. :P (O HAI KING MAN!!! Like, King Man here represents every Peraya who looks forward to the series~~~~~ :P)
A broken couple portrait is one proof that Tam + Pee had gone through a breakup—not to mention, a messy background that emphasises their current state. Based from the plot GMMTV shared for a film festival in South Korea, this is going to be a drama with a little bit of action—especially that Patapee’s career has been marred by controversies, and someone out there is set to shoot him down. But hey, Tamtawan is also a red flag, and their breakup led to Patapee being a miserable snot to the point of him being abusive towards his co-workers. Like, WTF?!? :O
That's the point of having torn portraits: to invoke that Patapee and Tamtawan had broken up. The photo below is a print of the fan piece I used to make a series based on their breakup (not to mention, their tumultuous relationship), and you know how messy things have turned out for them~ T o T
Tumblr media
Mess aside, it doesn't change the fact that I'm 110% hyped about The Ex-Morning. It has been so long since Krist + Singto had a BL drama together (read: SOTUS!!!), and I hope they could deliver us a great performance in The Ex-Morning this 2025~~~~~ :D
P.S. Krist has stated in his birthday charity event that The Ex-Morning fitting is scheduled sometime on November 2024. He also said that the shoot will start on 15~16 December 2024, so it is expected that the series will be out sometime in spring 2025, if not summer 2025. :P (Did I also mention that Lit Samajarn, the director of SOTUS, will also take the directorial role in Krist + Singto's comeback series? Now, that's going to be something for the books~~~~~ :D)

i don’t know if you would have an answer but do you have any clue why only friends seems to have so little budget but dangerous romance seems to have a lot? with 2 huge pairs that have a lot of fans and make a lot of money for gmmtv and 2 other actors (mark and neo) that ppl love + a respected director i’m surprised it doesn’t have a lot of budget compared to dangerous romance that’s introducing a new pair (yes they were in nlmg but it’s still their first time leading a show together) and is a high school bl (even though the plot seems intense). then again i’m not sure who exactly worked on dangerous romance and if the budget has anything to do with that.
Hey anon! sorry for the late reply but I wanted to see more of Dangerous Romance before saying anything.
So the Director of DR is Lit Phadung Samajarn who is also the director and screenwriter for a lot of other BLs. Love in Translation, Love Mechanics, My Engineer and SOTUS. [There is a theme of enemies to lovers here.]
And the Screenwriters are Pratchaya Thavornthummarut and Bee Pongsate Lucksameepong. They are both BIG names in the BL world and specifically in GMMTV. Some of GMMTV's biggest shows were written by them. Bee also co-wrote Kinnporsche and Bad Buddy. For Pratchaya I can see literally every famous GMMTV work in his resume.
Also Perth has been around in the BL world for a long time.
P'Aof is the producer.
So the Behind the Scenes talent is huge in this show.
The Only Friends team is very strong as well. I just wanted to mention the DR team by name.
Now for the most part I can only speculate and it all seems to come down to Product Placement. DR has it. OF doesn't. Why? I don't know. It could be executives didn't want to have their product in OF or they didn't trust the show would get people to buy their product because it would attract that type of audience or it won't be able to convince the viewer, which I do find absurd tbh. Another theory could be the creators didn't want it. It could be GMMTV didn't want it. It could be they blew through the budget on the 90s music Ray likes and such things but it could also be the artist was/is a GMMTV artist. But at the end of the day, unless someone comes out with what the reason is, I doubt we will find out. It's all about money and who can convince people to spend the most and that's not a bad thing. Money is important, it's how we live. In a perfect would it would be different but it's not a perfect world.
I won't go off of actors to judge the budget of a show since actors seem to be the cheapest item. That sounded bad but I don't mean it like that. Renting places, the equipment, marketing and many other things take much more budget than the actors. Unless they are like RDJ or SRK level, at which point you can and should judge the budget of a product from it's stars. I think the only Thai equivalent I know is MileApo. But even that doesn't feel right. Like they don't compare to the stardom of RDJ or SRK.

THE EX-MORNING RESUMES FILMING WITH Q3
Tumblr media
After completing Q1 and Q2 last week in two long, twelve-hour days on the 27th and 28th, The Ex-Morning production team took time off to rest and focus on other projects like Krist’s hosting job on The Golden Song, but we’re back today with Q3!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Director Lit Samajarn posted to his Instagram stories to mark the end of Q1 on January 27 (left) and Q2 on January 28th (right)]
HOSPITALIZATION
Yesterday, February 2, Krist shared a photo of himself in the hospital to his Instagram story, but with no further information given and him back to filming today, it may have just been a precautionary measure he took based on recent experience with his physical health before major productions.
For context: before his solo concerts in Bangkok in October of 2023, Krist got sick and lost his voice, so he took steroids to get him through both days. He said on Twitter the following day that his body gave feedback on that solution by being violently ill. So, in June of 2024 when he noticed similar symptoms in the lead-up to Peraya Party, he visited the hospital for medicine to preempt the same situation happening again and uploaded a photo of the saline drip. Unfortunately, he ended up getting sick anyway and continued working on Peraya Party from his iPad while hospitalized. He also later mentioned having panic attacks before the show began.

[top left: Krist’s Instagram story from February 2nd, 2025; top right: his IGS from June 5, 2024; bottom: translation of Krist’s explanation of his June photo by Jibby]
Given both of those experiences, I hope he’s not pushing himself too hard and knows to respect his body’s limits. No concert or show is more important than his health. ♡
Q3 UPDATES
Today, director Lit posted a beautiful photo of the sunrise through the trees to mark the start of Q3, and the official Ex-Morning account shared photos of Mie and Earn, whose roles are still a mystery.
