OH MY GOD IDOL PRODUCER SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 i finally watched it and i have a lot to say.  i dont have a favorite boy yet but i do really like all of them so far and i just wanted to go off abt yixing for a bit (not in a bad way i love him !!) he was getting a lot of hate and criticism for being really hard on the trainees and after watching the episode, i can see it.  but the thing about idol shows like this is kind of complicated because it really gets into: what makes an idol?  this was kind of discussed for a hot second when main producer BoA during pd101 s2 asked sewoon if he would prefer to be an idol or a singer.  at the time he said his ultimate goal was to be the ceo/main producer for an entertainment company and he thought that being an idol would help him in that way but after he lost produce 101 (he ended up #12 :^( ) he ended up being a singer and he did kind of debut in a project group as an idol but his main thing is being a singer.  i think the reason yixing went off, especially on the rappers, is that he doesnt see them as idols really.  yixing trained for a very long time and under sm, his training was probably really intense and harsh.  when he talked about idols who debut after a year, two years, 6 months, or 2 months through programs like idol producer, he probably felt that these trainees that went on idol producer, were using it as an easy way out of training almost.  so many trainees went on there with like less than a month-3 months of training and they have an opportunity to debut.  he was disappointed at the performances because so many trainees said that their position was rap, but that was all they could do and a lot of them had a lot of room for improvement.  an idol is different from an artist in that, a rapper only raps and a singer only sings, an idol has to be good at singing, rapping, and dancing.  he probably just thought that they weren’t making good use of the opportunity that was presented to them. anyways end of rant i really liked the first episode and i thought it was interesting abt how they went more into what it means to be an idol cause im a fucking nerd lmao
