ms paint. you know her. u used her age 8 to make loads of rainbow ovals all over the canvas and then scramble it with selection tool. now u will know her true powers with my handyrandy tips under the readmore. some will be pretty basic and others are very special.
this post has 8 cool trix to learn for you. enjoy and i may do another in the future if i remember/learn more stuff
some of it might be common knowledge. but its got some deep cuts. all tips have gifs to show process easily.
🙂 enjoy and i hope this encourages you to fuck around in mspaint more
soundtrack for this post (loop it while you learn for advanced learning experience)
TIP 1) the right click trick
left and right mouse click correspond to col1 and col2 respectively, which u can see in the top bar. this applies to all brushes and the fill tool like above. when using shapes col2 will be the fill colour (if you have solid fill selected). right clicking with shape maker will reverse the colours use on the shape.
TIP 2) right click eraser
this one is extremely helpful for lineart or add shading. the eraser always uses col2. so your eraser can technically be any colour. but here's where you get powers: right clicking with eraser will only erase onto col1, with col2.
TIP 3) transparent selection change a guy destination
the beloved transparent selection tool works based on what is selected as col2. so long as you have the correct colour as col2 you can make any image transparent and put it on top of anything else. and yes this works with photo bg as you can see.
TIP 4) the gradience
this one is a little more complex. you want to start off with any canvas size, and make as many diagonal coloured bands as you want. (protip: holding down shift makes a perfectly diagonal line with line tool)
then you need to resize the canvas to a width of 1px (make sure you resize by pixels, and do not maintain aspect ratio). then resize again back to its original width (or a different width i cant stop you). you will have your lovely gradience.
TIP 5) superimposter
so. you got a cool gradient and wanna put a guy on it. heres what i do:
i open a 2nd mspaint with same canvas size and draw whatever i want on there. i then pick a completely unrelated colour to my entire piece, and set that as the bg. you could use white, pink, geen, whatever you want as long as it doesnt appear somewhere else in ur drawing. copy the guy.
go back to your gradient tab. ensure that col2 is set as that bg colour you picked (lilac for me). have "transparent selection" enabled. paste your guy in. cue fanfare
TIP 6) advanced superimposter
the great thing about this method is u can put multiple gradients in multiple areas of the image. this is where it gets all japanese printmaking type of shit. ukiyo-esque
all you need to do is make another canvas with a new gradient, ensure col2 is set as the colour you want to replace, then paste your original piece onto the new gradient. now my guy has a soft fade. you can do this as much as you want. (you could even make a canvas with a texture or photo and paste your drawing onto there)
TIP 7) "sketch layer"
so as you now know, col2 is what is removed when you click "transparent selection". which means you can also remove any instance of a colour from ur drawing. which means you can have a unique colour for sketch layer and remove it from the drawing later. i admittedly dont do this but it is a great trick to have.
now combine this with lowering your dpi for smoother lines. may seem obvious but it helps. its like a free stabiliser whenever u want.
TIP 8) rainbow art
now this is where you can get dizzee rascal "bonkers". check out my small and shitty rainbow trick. you can select anything and hold down shift, then drag with left mouse, to turn that selection into its own brush. i even did it with a guy. and you can of course do this with a photo as well.
🙂well that it for now. hope you liked it thanks for reading now back to your regularly scheduled tgcg programming

Welcome! This column is a part of a sequence the place Tom's Information workers members share what they're taking part in and having fun with proper now, with the aim of serving to you discover nice video games you have missed. Be sure you try our earlier entry, the place we discuss Hello-Fi Rush.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot appears totally incomprehensible to anybody who hasn't learn or watched Akira Toriyama's beloved sequence. Who're these dozen characters? Why can everybody fly? Who's the inexperienced man? How a lot hair gel do you suppose these guys use? I can't, in good religion, advocate the sport to a normal viewers in a strong motion/RPG temper. I am unable to even promise that DBZ followers will prefer it, contemplating they've heard this specific story a thousand occasions earlier than, and the "high-octane martial arts battle" to "countless cutscenes" ratio is not favorable. And but, it is the one recreation I've wished to play persistently for the previous two weeks and counting.Since October, I really feel like I've performed nothing however nice video games. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope was nice. Bayonetta 3 was nice. God of Battle: Ragnarok was nice. Marvel's Midnight Solar was nice. Cyberpunk 2077, which I lastly received round to taking part in final month, was significantly cool. After 5 months of nice video games, I've come to the unlucky conclusion that nice video games are boring. And when an awesome recreation cannot ship, a reasonably good recreation steps up.Dragon Rock(Picture credit score: Bandai Namco Leisure Inc.)If you have not learn our Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot assessment, this is the brief model: It is a semi-open-world motion/RPG the place you play by your complete story from DBZ's unique manga/anime run. You management the sequence protagonist Goku, in addition to a handful of different characters as they fly by massive ranges, struggle enemies in real-time battles, acquire tons of assets, cook dinner stat-boosting meals, full aspect quests, chat with aspect characters, and So disclaimer in the event you already personal the DBZ video games, this may not change your thoughts. However there's strong fight and character customization, and it is enjoyable to completely discover some areas that the anime solely hints at.The sport debuted again in 2019 and just lately obtained a current-gen replace for PS5 and Xbox Collection X. As such, it boasts higher graphics, smoother body charges and sooner load occasions than earlier than. With the replace patch sparking renewed curiosity in Kakaro, I believed it was time to present a full assessment of the sport, and I hope to get it down as soon as I am completed writing.Nonetheless, because it typically occurs, actual life performed havoc with my plans. With out going into the gory particulars, I am at the moment recovering from two completely different surgical procedures, and as any wholesome affected person can attest, not feeling 100% has a sluggish and regular impact in your psychological state. All of the sudden, I did not need to immerse myself in an awesome journey or grasp a sophisticated gameplay system. Though I am not proud to confess it, I really feel far more like button-mashing by a well-known story, with a lot of vivid colours and flashy results alongside the best way. I wished to see a bunch of numbers after minimal effort on my half, and zoned out when the cutscenes began dragging on too lengthy.Briefly, I wished a pleasant recreation. And that is precisely what Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is.Superb recreation in protection(Picture credit score: Bandai Namco Leisure Inc.)In 2018, I discovered myself speaking to a buddy of mine about what video games we have been taking part in. It was the top of the yr, so we had an absolute plethora of fantastic titles to select from. Was I taking part in God of Battle? Or learn Lifeless Redemption 2? Or Spider-Man? Or Murderer's Creed Odyssey? Or Shadow of the Tomb Raider? No, I replied
bluntly; I used to be taking part in Dragon Ball Xenoverse, one other light-weight motion/RPG that exists primarily for fanservice functions. It wasn't one of the best recreation obtainable on the time; Heck, it wasn't even one of the best Dragon Ball recreation. He replied that I had chosen an excellent recreation, and that they have been typically one of the best type of video games.Fairly good video games, he argued, don't have any expectation of survival. They are not an enormous a part of essential discourse, and followers do not endlessly argue whether or not they're true masterpieces or overrated fad fodder. Nobody makes use of them to justify the pointless console wars. You do not have to suppose deeply in regards to the controller when it is in your hand. They're the online game equal of pizza: good, satisfying fare that does not problem your style buds in any manner, however virtually by no means permits you to down.Simply as there isn't a common definition of an awesome recreation, there isn't a common definition of an awesome recreation. However I believe most individuals will know one after they see one. These are "video game-y" video video games, for lack of a greater phrase, whose sole operate is to entertain you whilst you play them. Age of Empires IV is a good recreation; SpellForce III is a reasonably good recreation. Ring of Elden is a good recreation; Mad Max is an excellent recreation. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a good recreation; Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a wonderful recreation.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is not increasing my cultural horizons, or interrogating my sensibilities, or exhibiting me one thing I've by no means seen earlier than in a online game. However when actual life will get me down I smile. It is most likely too highfalutin to say that the sport is medicinal. However it lifted my spirits when a deep, weighty recreation would most likely make me really feel extra considerate and introspective.Similar to you'll be able to't eat pizza for each meal, you'll be able to't play excellent video games and nothing. Some video games ought to problem us, whether or not it is when it comes to gameplay or story or construction. However I am glad that even because the gaming medium evolves and matures, there's nonetheless a spot for titles like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. And in the event you're in want of an emotional pick-me-up, you would possibly as nicely be proud of it.In the present day's Finest Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Offers

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) Movie Review by: Will Whalen
Here we are once more. The fifth Transformers film in this horrible franchise that nobody wanted and once more, is directed by the beloved director, Michael Bay. How we have gotten five of these films and people still go to the theaters to see them, is beyond me. The only reason I even see them is because they're a big movie that comes out and I try to see everything anyway. I never expect anything from these movies and I haven't for quite some time. I'm not afraid to say that I actually like the first film and the third isn't so terrible either. Two is horrible and four is also. However, four is so amazing in such a terrible way that I kind of love it. When you see Mark Wahlberg crash an alien ship and land right on a Bud Light truck and watch him get out, say obnoxious things, grab a beer, drink it and throw it on the ground, you know that there really can't be much better for the franchise. I mean that's one of the greatest scenes in a film ever (sarcasm is intended) and not to even mention Optimus Prime riding a Transformer dinosaur. So I was hoping to get something even close to that in Transformers: The Last Knight. Yeah, that doesn't happen and this film sucks ass to no surprise.
So Transformers: The Last Knight is about the humans and transformers are at war and supposedly, the key to surviving the future has something to do with the past and with knights and things like that. While this may seem like the main plot, it's quite easy to get lost along the way and ask yourself, “What is this about?”
This franchise was never legitimately good. At best, they're guilty pleasures at this point. However, they're not all bad. The first is actually quite enjoyable and three isn’t horrible either. How they're still making these films and why Michael Bay is still making them, I have no idea. He either must love the money, or must be crazy about Transformers. It also surprises me that Mark Wahlberg signed to be in these films as well. He's an actor of such high caliber that can and has done such great work, but chooses to do this. I'm a fan of Mark Wahlberg but I don't feel like these films need him per se. However, it does make it a lot more enjoyable and funnier. Whether that's a good thing or not, I'm not sure. Anthony Hopkins is in this and his character basically gives us a LOT of exposition to further the plot and to also get us places so I guess he somewhat serves a place in this film. A problem that these films have is that there's literally always a really big exposition scene or several and one character to tell us every single thing we need to know. I'm not saying exposition isn't always needed but it's just so lazy and disrespectful to the audience when it's used constantly. My point is, that's what Anthony Hopkins character basically consists of.
Now let's talk about the film itself. From the start, we’re following these kids who cuss a lot because, kids who cuss while saying things fast and loud, is really funny. So, they run around while being chased by something and they get saved by a little girl who constantly says stuff like, “I can fight a transformer because I'm a girl and I can do anything!” She says things like that quite a lot while she's on screen but thankfully, she's not on screen much. Now far as the actual so called “plot” goes, it's honestly so scrambled and confusing that it's hard to tell what even happens at times. Basically, the government hates the Transformers so they're at war with one another. However, I guess they hate the Autobots more because they, as in the the military or government, meet with Megatron. They meet Megatron in the middle of the desert to negotiate with him, about freeing some of the Decepticons from jail, if they will stop the Autobots… That sounds like a joke right? It's not a bit. So, while they are negotiating, there's a sort of Suicide Squad montage where the read off the names and give background information about these Decepticons that they're negotiating… WHAT?! The government, meets with Megatron, to free some of the Decepticons so that they can take out the Autobots. The same Decepticons who once tried to destroy the planet like, 4 times before this film. I had no words. I sat there bewildered and speechless. But the military still helps out Mark Wahlberg and the Autobots despite the fact that they have a “suicide squad” of Transformers.
In the last film, Optimus Prime flies to space to try and find his home to fight them or something, and he returns but he is now evil. These aren't spoilers by the way because they're in the trailer. So he returns to earth to kill his Transformer friends and the humans. So this starts what is probably my favorite scene in the whole film and a scene I genuinely really enjoyed. Which is a fight between Bumblebee and Optimus. No spoilers of course but this fight was actually a lot of fun and very entertaining. It's probably one of the better Transformer fights of the entire franchise. So, this film isn't ALL bad and even the finale has fun to be had.
Now Michael Bay. The man, the myth, the legend is back for his fifth film in this franchise. Usually, I hate Michael Bay. His films are always so ridiculous and filled with pornstar looking women and the most absurd explosions and so on. He could take a good film, and bog it down with his Michael Bayisms. Doesn't mean I don't like some of his films, because I do. That being said, his productions are genius and there's no disputing that. He and his team do incredible work with CG, Pyrotechnics, and so on. Hate the man if you will, but you must admit that he does great work with the production itself. I just don't think he cares much about a story. With all of that said, there's something I noticed as soon as this film started. And that's that the aspect ratios changed a lot. As in, every other shot the aspect ratio was different. I thought it was just doing it for a little bit but no! This happened literally every other shot! At one point within the first five minutes I was wanting to scream at the screen! I get aspect ratio changes but when it's every other shot, changing them in a dialogue scene, I don't understand! It was maddening! There's also so many cuts. Like, he didn't let a shot linger a single bit. No way, not Michael Bay! Another thing is, it felt so tired. His direction that is. As if he was just doing this film for a check and to get it over with because it just felt so lazy.
I've recently learned that there are actual fans of this franchise that genuinely think these movies are good and not just so bad that they're good. That they think the story is good and so on. So, if you're one of THOSE people, you'll probably like this and you'll probably cream your shorts when Optimus Prime says at the end (like he does every movie) “I am Optimus Prime. We fight for humans and we will be victorious.” and all that load of shit. Speaking of, I really don't know why they always have to end those films that way but I digress. But if you hated all of them except MAYBE the first and third film like me, you'll probably hate this one too.
I'm going to give Transformers: The Last Knight…
1.5 out of 5 Stars.
Also, sorry about the delayed review everyone. I actually saw this last week when it came out but I got swamped with things I had to do last week till now. However, stay tuned this week because we got many reviews coming your way and even more within the next month!

GAME BOY ADVANCE BUYERS' GUIDE AND MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE GAMES

The Game Boy Advance or GBA was released in 2001 and was the follow up to the successful Gameboy Color. The GBA has three different models, the GBA original, GBA SP (2003) and the GBA Micro (2005). We will look further into the differences later. The GBA falls within the top 10 selling game consoles of all time, a list which also includes the original Game Boy and the Nintendo DS. Nintendo own hand-held gaming and the Game Boy Advance SP model specifically is one of my most played retro consoles.

The original model is a landscape layout (with buttons either side of the screen), rather than the traditional Game Boy portrait layout, with the buttons below the screen. It is a 32-bit system and shows a significant upgrade to to GBC, although without a light on the screen I found it quite disappointing when I had my original many years ago. The original GBA takes 2 x AA batteries. Probably the best feature is that it’s fully compatible with all of the original Game Boy and GBC back catalogue. The first revision GBA SP I feel improved nearly every aspect from the original. It’s rechargable via a power cable, has a front lit screen (which at the time made it much more playable), a folding laptop-type design for more compactability and also works to protect the screen. One downside is that the SP model doesn’t have an AV port for headphones. The 3rd model came in the form of the GBA micro and I feel this was a disappointing release, it has brighter and a much more powerful backlit screen but its tiny form factor is too cramped for even the smallest hands. It also ditches the backwards compatibility of the previous models. The micro has clip-on plates for customisation. At a similar time to this Nintendo also released another GBA SP (model AGS-101) with a fantastic backlit screen similar to the GBA micro and the soon-to-be-released Nintendo DS. This is a great system for fans of the Super Nintendo, I never owned a Super Nintendo but, while collecting for this system, I discovered that many of the games from the Super Nintendo and even the NES saw releases on the GBA. It was a simple way for me to access some of the classics from those previous released consoles. My personal recommendation is that if money is no object then the GBA SP (model AGS-101) with its amazing screen is the one to get, but it is rather expensive. For those on a budget (like myself), I would recommend buying a GBA SP (model AGS-001), as they are more readily available. This system will run the whole Game Boy game library. Buying a DS Lite has the benefit of having an amazing backlit screen similar to AGS-101 and is able to run both original DS games and is backwards compatible to the GBA games library only as well, so that is another option.

The GBA had a ton of both first- and third-party accessories. Some of the highlights for me include: the Worm Light, which was essential for playing on the original model; the Link Cable in order to access multiplayer features; and the GameCube-Game Boy player, which works similar to the Super Game Boy and allows you to play GBA games on the big screen. All of the models discussed above were available in many different colours and artwork styles, which for a collector may mean that you have an interest in picking up multiple systems. One of my favourites is the classic NES-inspired GBA SP, which I would love to have, especially with a model 101 backlit screen 🤤.

Another feature that is easily forgotten is that the GBA adds a limited colour pallet to Original Game Boy games; you can use the direction pad on the boot-up screen in order to choose different ones. Shoulder buttons have no use while playing Game Boy and Game Boy Color games but they can be pressed in order to have the original aspect ratio or to stretch the image to fill the GBA’s larger screen. I personally don’t collect boxed GBA games as it’s too expensive.
Here is a brief run though of some of my highly recommended, which I would recommend to anyone who is interested in starting a collection for this amazing console:

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2: A very well-made game that plays exactly the same as the console versions of the beloved series but from a isometric view. Great way to play a bit of Tony Hawk on the go.
Sonic Advance: This is a fantastic Sonic game made by Sega for the GBA. Who would’ve thought it? Sega’s prized mascot on a Nintendo system. This game has all the speed and gameplay of the best sonic games. 2D is where sonic games are at.
Advance Wars 1 or 2: Either or both. Many long hours can be consumed by this game. It’s a turn-based tactical war game featuring cartoon-style characters and animation. Both simplistic yet technical with a fair learning curve.
Mario vs Donkey Kong: A successor to both the arcade and original Game Boy game Donkey Kong. This is a fantastic-looking puzzle game with tons of character and variety.
Warioware, inc. Minigame Mania: For anyone who has played any Warioware game, you will know exactly what this is all about but, for those who don’t, it is a super addictive game that involves loads of wacky, quick-fire mini games and you have to scramble to work out what to do in quick succession. One of my favourites.
Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission: I had to add both here because they are both masterpieces. Fusion sees Samus face a new virus threat called X while evading a fully powered evil clone of herself. It is a direct sequel to Super Metroid but has a more linear approach; this has caused some criticism but, as my first ever experience of a Metroid game, I appreciated its structure. Zero mission is a well crafted remake of the original NES game (which is also featured as an unlockable) and is much more in line with the open world, which fans of Super Metroid will appreciate. It could be argued that either of these are the best Metroid game ever made.
Castlevania Aria of Sorrow: This game does everything perfectly. It may not be the first Metroidvania-style Castlevania game (that honour would go to one of my absolute favourite games, Symphony of the Night) but I would happily accept any argument that says it does it better. It is perfectly balanced and the story is great. The main character, Soma, can absorb the souls of enemies in order to gain magical abilities and attacks. This was first introduced here but is also felt today in the form of Shard’s from the game’s creator Koji Igarashi in his latest game Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
Games not in my collection that I am also on the hunt for are:
GunStar Super Hero’s, a sequel to the Megadrive classic.
Contra advance.
Metal Slug advance.
I hope you have enjoyed this month's blog. It is a topic that I have a huge passion for and I highly recommend starting any game collection with this system. There is a ton of amazing games and even a rather big collection can take up very little of your space at home. Until next time. 🎮

Gambino’s: A Reunited Love
GAMBINOS: 4.7
LOCATION: SF FINANCAL DISTRICT
WWW.GAMBINOSNYSUBS.COM
Captain Babs on the bridge.
On our maiden voyage, we came across the small Financial District shop known as Gambino’s New York Subs. This mom and pop spot caters to the mainly 9-5 worker bees in San Francisco’s downtown heart. The place is simple and offers a variety of your classic deli sandwiches and salads with simple, yet high quality taste on its side. I walked in expecting standard deli fare and was blown away by a flavor explosion so delicious, I feel bad for any sandwiches that come after this. It left an indelible mark on my soul. One that whispers softly against the waters of the deep, “TUNA...”
I had been to Gambino’s many a morning as it is one of the few places in the area where you can get a tasty bagel sandwich and coffee for under $5. I had always noted with a slight nod of appreciation their variety of vegetarian and pescatarian friendly sandwich options sharing space with the same love as the beloved MBS of many a sandwich afficionado. One day after we had embarked on the quest for the elusive tuna sandwich, my stomach growled in turmoil. It was only a matter of time before the hanger set in. Time was running out. As luck would have it, Gambino’s had no line and offered respite for the weary traveler. I entered seeking in earnest, would they have the tuna salad I so desired?
They did. Called Montauk, which I assume is a reference to the quaint sea village located at the end of Long Island. Within about five to ten minutes, my sandwich, along with a cup of tomato soup, was called and handed to me in a white paper bag, containing the paper-wrapped sandwich, the cup of soup, a spoon, and two napkins.
I thanked the tuna gods for smiling upon me and went along my merry way.
BREAD: 5
Gambino’s offers the option of a soft roll, an Italian roll, or a wheat roll for their sandwiches. Mine was on a fresh Italian roll. It was a delightful balance of a slight crunch on the outside, with fluffy goodness within. With rolls, the tendency can be that the ratio of bread to sandwich is dissapointingly overpowering. However, Giambino’s clearly knows what they are doing. The roll offered a way to hold onto the sandwich and caught all the goodness inside, without containing too much bread.
TUNA QUALITY: 5
I couldn’t tell what kind of tuna it was, but nothing about it stood out in a bad way. The tuna was fresh and I get the feeling it came from an oil-packed can or glass as opposed to water-packed. IMO, this is vastly superior to water-packed cans. It manages to preserve the essence of the tuna and bring out its flavors.
MIX: 5
The deli’s own tuna salad was composed of tuna, olive oil, fresh herbs, artichokes, and capers. A very Italian version of the classic tuna salad we hold so near and dear. This salad is also offered by the half pint, which is a wonderful option for those avoiding bread. The capers and artichokes were a welcome touch and provided something a bit different than your standard pickle relish or celery which most places do when they add in ingredients to the tuna salad. The mix itself was well-balanced and though it used olive oil instead of mayo as its binding agent, I found it to be lighter and more refreshing and SUBSTANTIALLY less mushy than most mayo-based mixes.
Now at Gambino’s, you have the choice between an East Coast or West Coast styled sub. East Coast provides your shredded LTO along with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper, and herbs. With West Coast, you get your LTO with mayo, mustard, and pickles. Given that the place was called NEW YORK subs, I opted for East Coast and was pleasantly surprised by how the combo of vinegar and olive oil highlight the flavors of the sandwich and soaked into the bread. It also came with provolone cheese. One subtle aspect that I would be remiss if I did not highlight, was the fact that the sandwich was evenly composed so that from start to finish you received a bit that gave you a bit of the bread, the condiments, and the tuna. It was clear I was dealing with an EXPERT SANDWICH ARTIST
AMBIANCE: 3.5
Giambino’s is in the SF Financial District, so there’s not much in terms of space and casual eating experiences that they can really offer, however, I believe their charm comes from recognizing that and keeping it simple and the prices reasonable. In SF, you can walk into some places who will charge you $15 for an “artisanal sandwich”. This is pretentious crap. Artistry comes in all forms, my friends, and simply because they are standard or classic, doesn’t mean you can overlook the details. And here’s what I liked:
A) My to-go bag had exactly what I needed - no more, no less. Now, they didn’t use compostable materials for their utensils, which I would have prefered, but I appreciate that they didn’t give you a small book’s worth of napkins with your order. There’s no need for that.
B) the condiment station - should you choose to adulterate your sandwich - was neatly organized and well stocked.
C) For a quality sandwich, I was in and out of there in no time. They know what they’re doing.
D) Kind and no fuss service. The people who work at Giambino’s are straight forward, but always kind and get you exactly what you need without a lot of fuss. It’s all about the sandwich.
BONUS: They are across the street from a POPOS (Privately Owned Public Open Space), which provides a quiet spot to enjoy your sandwich when the weather is nice.
Still, at the end of the day, Giambino’s is an average hole in the wall deli. I appreciate its simplicity, but would need to leave room for places that offer a nice eat-in experience.
ORIGINALITY: 5
You don’t need to make huge waves in order to impress me. The salad mix with artichokes, capers and olive oil base was delightful and I appreciate all the subtle extras from the to-go bag with no more and no less than what was needed and the option to go East or West Coast. This place meets the mark.
OVERALL:
I would be hard-pressed to find a better classic sandwich place that makes a good tuna sandwich - remember, not all delis can do this. Great mix without loading you down with mayo and cheese. Well done, Giambino’s, you’ve left a mark to beat. Thank you for such a wonderful tuna sandwich and I will be back to try it West Coast Style!
SCORE: 4.7

If you are coming to the Redmi 9 from the Redmi 5 or 6, you may notice sharp changes in design, but if you’ve used the Redmi 8-series, or even the Note 8, you may not notice much changes in design. Generally, I found the Redmi 9 to be far sturdy than the Redmi 5 of 2018, but you might not notice much improvement in built-quality if you’ve owned a recent Redmi phone. Besides, who makes a crappy, cranky phone in 2020, except the device is sold below $70 USD, which the Redmi 9 is not.
Button placement remains industry stardard; power button and Volume rocker to the right hand side, IR blaster and secondary mic atop the phone, triple card slot to the left hand side and 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C and a single loud speaker at the basement.
The back of the device has a circular textured finishing, which help formed the visible circle towards the four rear camera modules at the back.
As far as built quality goes, the device is very sturdy but, it tad weighty too. Official specs mentioned 198 grams, but my review unit peaked at 202 grams without SIM and SD card inserted. But hey, a 5020mAh battery lies on the inside, which should make up for the extra weight.
Redmi has great display, if not for the brightness nit
The Xiaomi Redmi 9 spot a 6.53-inches display with a dew-drop notch above the screen and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. On paper, the device has Full-HD+ screen with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. At the price, the display has great colors, and don’t even think of noticing any pixel with your naked eyes. But there is one problem, the screen is not bright enough for outdoor use.
You’ll enjoy the display while indoor, and you might need to reduced the brightness at some lighting situations. But this is not the case during outdoor use, and you might need to shade the screen with your palm, especially under direct sunlight use. Surprsingly, a smaller, cheaper device with HD+ screen did better under direct sunlight than the Redmi 9.
A 1080p juicy screen marred with weaker brightness nit
I think Xiaomi is being careful not to strain users eyes with overpowering brightness. They even did include Reader Mode which ultimately alter display color reproduction and overall brightness for a better indoor use.
So display wise, the Redmi 9 is a win for some, and rather ‘not-win’ for others, sort of. The outdoor busy guys might not enjoy covering the display of their device while in use during sunny days, but for indoor loners like myself, the Redmi 9 screen is much more enough, considering other great features that this device offers, like the ones below.
Hardware can’t get any better at this price!
Intel inside!, Sorry I meat Mediatek inside!. The CPU inside the Redmi 9 is Helio G80 chip from Mediatek. The Helio G-series are Mediatek gaming CPU for not just mid-range smartphones anymore, but also for entry level device like the Redmi 9A and 9C.
So is the Xiaomi Redmi 9 a gaming smartphone? Yes, sort of. But should I be having the likes of Blackshark phone or, Asus ROG Phone or even the recent Lenovo Legion Phone on my table right now, I would never call the Redmi 9, a gaming phone (I’m looking at you Infinix Note 7). But since I don’t have those phones, and to anyone who don’t have any of those phones, well, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 is of course a gaming phone.
On paper, the Mediatek Helio G80 in the Redmi 9 has Octa-core CPU in all. There is a dual 2.0 GHz from Cortex-A75, and Six 1.7 GHz from Cortex-A55, pegged with Mali-G52 GPU (up to 950MHz). Our review unit has 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Sadly, I don’t play games, for now, so I did not run any gaming performance test. But we’ll surely start doing gaming tests when we resume back on YouTube, hopefully soon. You can check out our long abandoned channel here, and if it is okay by you, please subscribe to it. We are surely coming back soon.
Talking about testing, we did run few benchmarking test though, and our results are shown below.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 Benchmarking Tests
AnTuTu V8: 200,007
GeekBench v5.1: Single-core: 361
GeekBench v5.1: Multi-core: 1,320
3DMark SSE – OpenGLES 3.1: 1,332
3DMark SSE – Vulkan: 1,323
Even though we did not run any practical gaming performance test, no one would expect a smartphone touching 200k in Antutu benchmark to stutter while surfing even the heaviest web page on the internet. Thankfully, the Redmi 9 and it Helio G80 CPU did not stutter during all our basic test.
But we wanted to see the limit of the phone, so we loaded 10 different web pages in 10 Google Chrome tabs, to see how many tabs will refresh when we switch back and forth between the tabs. Interestingly, the Redmi 9 and it 4GB RAM handled all the 10 tabs without a single refresh on any page. But when we pushed it to 20 tabs, some of the initial tabs started refreshing when revisited.
In all, the Helio G80 is a worthy mid-range offer, and offers hug and notable improvement over the Snapdragon 439 CPU used in the Redmi 8-series. to be, the CPU is one of the major stand-out specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 9.
Camera Performance of the Redmi 9
There are four camera modules at the back of the Redmi 9. The main 13-megapixel snapper, with 8-megapixel wide lens, 5-megapixel macro snapper and a 2-megapixel depth shooter, while a single 8-megapixel selfie seats upfront.
We tried out all the sensors above, and they all worked as intended. The 13-megapixel main snapper can capture crisp images in outdoor shots. As for indoor snaps, well, good images are assured with good lightening condition and stable hands. But on the contrary, images get grainy with high noise level.
Sadly, the single LED flash at the back did not really help much as well. I’m not even sure whether there is a software glitch here or something else. For example, when the LED light is set to auto, it won’t fire during some low-light shoots especially when the object is bright, but not adequately bright.
One other issue I have with the LED flash is, it use same focusing light as capture light. This is what I mean, usually, a smartphone LED light is fine-tuned to produced low light during image focusing, then fire a more stronger and bright light to capture the image. But the Redmi 9 is not so, same focusing light captures the image without even a blink, leading to sharp-less indoor images. But again, images taken under good lightening conditions are great.
Sincerely, I enjoy playing around with the camera on Redmi 9. You could also capture a larger filed of field on the device, that is where the bundled 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens comes in, but it can’t go above 118 degrees.
Then, there is the isolated 5-megapixel macro lens, which performed incredible well in my test. Thanks to the lens, I was able to count the legs of this House Fly, or is this Bush Fly?
Finally, the frontal selfie snapper, which can shoot in normal mode or AI portrait mode, and surpsingly, even though there is no LED flash upfront, the frontal 8-megapixel lens is still able to capture decent images.
Normal (Good light)
Portrait (Good light)
Indoor (low light)
Software is MIUI 11 Above Android 10.
The Redmi 9 runs on MIUI 11 out of the box with Android 10 underneath. Usually, with MIUI, you get all apps on the home screen without additional drawer, and the app drawer fans mostly resort to a third party launcher to get their beloved feature. Well, with MIUI 11, extra launcher may not be needed as the OS now have two home screen interface, of which the second interface is app drawer based.
One major argument for MIUI is the customization features. Through the MIUI theme app on the Redmi 9, users can access and download almost unlimited skin and themes of varying customization, given that viewing and interacting with Adsense Ads is okay with you.
Aside the Ads, it is important to note that Xiaomi have it own services and apps, tailored for the Chinese world, a little similar to Google service and apps. Most of these apps and services are preloaded even on the international variants of Redmi and Xiaomi Mi devices. And for phones like the Redmi 9 that come with Google Services and apps, as well as Xiaomi Services and apps, expect a handful number of bloatware.
Aside the two issues above, MIUI is a great OS. Yes, you read that well, MIUI isn’t just a User Interface (UI) but an Operating System (OS), and when combined with Google’s fastest OS till-date (the Android 10), the result is a smooth and buttery fluid User Experience (UX). Although the combination took out above 12GB ROM from the built in 64GB of storage.
I don’t really like the old ‘all apps on the home screen’ feature of MIUI, so after setting up the device, I instantly switch to the App drawer version of the interface. For what it worth, OS alone won’t amount to a smoother interface, the hardware department also has it role to play, thankfully, the Helio G80 CPU plays it game very well. And if there is any area I did not encounter any issue with the Redmi 9, is in the software department.
The notification drawer is kept very minimal, and a single click (inside phone setting), will switch you from normal to dark mode in seconds. Software connecting the peripherals of the phone are will optimized as well. The phone will guide you to set up the fast fingerprint scanner, the built-in speaker is loud enough for my Parlor. The camera components are connected fairly well, except for the LED flash talked above earlier.
How About Battery Performance?
One of the reason while the Redmi 9 is a bit weighty, is due to the built-in 5020mAh battery. After a whole 24 hours of pushing and pressing the Redmi 9, I had to, reluctantly, charge it remaining 30% juice this morning for charging sake, and not because I know the device might be going off anytime soon.
The Redmi 9 also come with great battery management app, which when turned on, gives you almost twice your battery run time, but to the detriment of background running apps, like emails, chat notifications etc.
Charging the device from 30% to 100% this morning took around 1H:37M. Kinda slow right? Well, perhaps, and that is because even though the Redmi 9 support 18W fast charger, a 10W charger is what you’ll get out of the box, and not the faster 18W charger.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 Pricing, Alternative and Conclusion
On the international front, the Redmi 9 starts at around $119 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. But in local market, Nigeria for example, the device is available with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage and price at N66,000.
Phones with similar specs you can get at this price includes: Infinix Note 7 Lite, Samsung Galaxy M11, Tecno Camon 15, Huawei Y7p and the OPPO A31 smartphone.
When I got the Redmi 9, I wasn’t expecting the device to tick all spec box, knowing fully well that it a mid-range offer, but it did, sort of. Seriously, it interesting to see how much specs and features Xiaomi has pack into the Redmi 9, and despite the little hitches we noticed in the camera department and the less-bright LCD screen, the Redmi 9 is still a big bang for the buck, offering Mediatek Helio G80 under $120 dollars.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Why you're going to love this phablet
Samsung started the ‘phablet’ trend with the Galaxy Note and has set the standard for big smartphones. When it first came out, people joked about its size, but now they appreciate the larger battery, extra screen space, and the stylus. Until the Galaxy Note 7 came along without the much-needed fire extinguisher, Samsung owned the market when it came to the smartphone-tablet combo. The positive to this is that Samsung took the time to evaluate what went wrong and how to make the Note 8 better to reestablish themselves in the tech world. Rather than trying to go smaller with batteries (like they did with the Note 7), Samsung focused more on producing durable batteries that were less apt to degrade over time. In focusing on details like this, the Note 8 is a way better smartphone tablet than the Note 7 could have wished to be. A high ticket price does come with the big phone, so Note fans can expect to shell out around $900 for a unit loaded with 64GB of storage. It seems Samsung has now outdone the Apple iPhone in the most expensive phone arena. While the Galaxy Note 8 may not be for everyone, it will more than satisfy Note fans and those loving big phones loaded with plenty of features and gear. It stands head and shoulders above the competition with things like crazy fast performance, great camera, fingerprint reader, VR support, beautiful design, waterproof, pen input and easy mobile payments, just to name a few things before we dig in deep.
Size Still Matters
Samsung has always been about size when it comes to their Note series, and with a 6.3-inch Infinity Display, they have taken it even further. The display stretches all the way to the very edge of the smartphone much like the Galaxy S8, which allows you as much display room as possible. The display is strikingly vibrant, crisp, and bright which allows you to see it even in the brightest sunlight. Many times, sunlight would make it difficult to see the screen without squinting. The 6.3-inch display will completely pull you in when watching videos as the OLED display makes you feel like you're watching an LG 4K OLED television. The 18.5.9 aspect ratio allows you to run two apps simultaneously in a split-screen multitasking mode. As if we needed more things to keep us in ADHD land! It’s a huge phone, but Samsung has made the giant screen of the Note 8 to look like one by doing the most simplistic of things: bringing more curvature to the sides, making the phone longer, and shrinking the bezels. While it may look huge to some, the iPhone 7 Plus is only slightly smaller than the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus is the exact same size. As many have heard, it’s not the size of the instrument, but what you do with it that counts. Now with larger things, there are a few inconveniences such as having a phone that people with smaller hands will struggle with not to mention trying to fit something this large into your skinny jeans. Knowing that people would have this complaint, we took it out for a weeklong trial run to see how we could adjust to its size. I forgot how big our pockets are, especially those of us still wearing cargo pants, but it took no time getting used to having the Note 8 clanging around knocking into my keys and loose coins while I rode around on my bike, the subway, bus or just sitting watching television. It even survived having a full cup of coffee and soda spill on it with no problem. I even gave it the ultimate challenge. Surviving the inevitable toilet fall, and it performed like a champ.
Sharing Some Specs With Galaxy S8
Samsung is smart to know what to share across its smartphone units, and they’ve done the same by adding the best parts of the Galaxy S8 to the Galaxy Note 8. While the screen size is basically the same with the S8 Plus, they’ve moved the fingerprint scanner to the back of the smartphone. This is a little frustrating for some as you have to get used to putting your fingers into a new yoga pose, but that’s a very small inconvenience as it only takes a day or two to adjust. The iris scanner has been improved upon, but you will still find yourself having to hold the phone close to your face while also opening your eyes wider than you’re used to. This is basically just having a more secure phone which I personally don’t mind, especially after shelling out nearly $1K. The Note 8 also shares those beautiful glass panels that meld into the metal frame along with a pressure-sensitive home button still located at the bottom of the phone. It comes with a headphone jack which Samsung put in the perfect place; directly at the very bottom of the phone. It’s right next to the charging port, but remember, with Samsung, you can also just get a wireless charger which charges your S8 or Note 8 in about ten minutes flat.
What's Inside?
Samsung has also included the best of the Galaxy S8 inside of the Note 8 like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a microSD card slot, and 64GB of storage space. You can be sure that with such a robust smartphone like this, users will be wanting more space like 128GB and 256GB which will come in the next year. The Note 8 differs from the S8 in that it comes with 6GB of RAM which users will easily notice when it comes to this smartphone’s fluid performance. This extra RAM also works wonderfully with the DeX desktop docking system also sold by Samsung, of course. Samsung did shrink the battery capacity for the Note 8 after the Note 7 mess. The new unit has a 3,300mAh battery which supports wireless and wired charging. Thankfully, with the fast chargers, heavy users won’t mind the shorter battery life. Hey, it’s better than having to lug around that trusty fire extinguisher!
Dual Camera Fun
While other companies like Apple have been using a dual camera system (iPhone 7 Plus), Samsung is taking the first step with the Note 8 having two 12-megapixel sensors working both together and independently. One of the cameras comes with a wide-angle lens, the other has a ‘telephoto’ option that allows you to shoot even closer to the subject. The camera app is flawless with taking well-focused shots, and its image stabilization will save you many frustrating moments when the subject moves ever so slightly. This also works great when you’re shooting video. Bixby Vision will let you identify objects in the shot along with adding stickers on your pictures. The only complaint, and it’s a very small one is with the Live Focus mode. This feels like Samsung came up with a great idea but didn’t have enough time to perfect it. This app allows you to create one of those soft background portrait shots, but it’s hit or miss. Sometimes it works perfectly, and other times, it just gives a very blurry background. You can be sure the company will realize it has something special with this app and continue perfecting it.
Is It For You?
If you love a larger smartphone that is robust and functions as a tablet, then the Galaxy Note 8 is for you. Personally, I’ve never understood why people will watch an amazing action film on a 5.5-inch display when they’ve got a 64-inch 4k television at home, so I’m always on the side of bigger is better. Just a few advantages are bigger screens allow for a larger keyboard (and for those of us with bigger hands, it’s a blessing), games are way more immersive, getting the same work done that you would on your laptop, and if you are a vlogger the Note 8 will be your best friend. The S Pen stylus is beloved by hardcore Note users as it does so many things like writing notes on the display without having to turn on the screen, grabbing a screenshot solely by drawing a box around the object, easily creating GIFS, to just fiddling around with it unlocking even more possibilities. While the Galaxy Note 8 does come with a steep price, it's loaded with enough features to last you several years. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 may not be for everyone, those that want it will be very happy.

Put any or all of these resources into put and sit again and look at the dollars roll on with no (or extremely minimal) more energy on your element. If you really want to get loaded and reside a existence of luxury, then you ought to learn the capacity of creating income move from passive revenue sources. Without this capacity, your money will be confined to common techniques of generating cash, these as operating. Doing work will never absolutely free you from acquiring to function. You will have to do some thing distinctive than doing the job in get to acquire the earnings you have to have to reside the life-style you desire. Passive money is the key. Prior to you commence any investment decision program, the to start with rule is to seek the advice of with a experienced expenditure advisor. By conversing over your prepare and considering options you may possibly not have considered, you will protect your money to the finest degree and help shield it from probable loss whiule multiplying your return. This report will not contemplate the expense of entry to any investment nor will we glance at rates of return. These will fluctuate - probably every single 12 months or even around the class of a calendar year- dependent on the financial system, disorders set by the SEC and other regulatory bodies and the IRS. This short article will consider only the 20 attainable resources of passive cash flow you will require to perform additional investigate to establish if any investment is acceptable for you. 1. ETF's - Exchange Traded Funds - This is a fund that tracks the overall performance of an index this sort of as the Dow Jones or Regular and Very poor five hundred, a basket of property or a commodity. Buying and selling in the exact same method as a stock, its value will vary in accordance to the times buying and selling calls for. Added benefits of proudly owning an ETF include the means to purchase quick, obtain on margin and to get as minimal as just one share. Expenditure ratios are often reduced than mutual cash. A typical ETF is referred to as a spider - SPDR - and tracks the S&P five hundred index. Search for the symbol SPY to investigation or to invest in. 2. REIT - Genuine Estate Financial commitment Belief - 1 of my favorite investments for the reason that you possess a portion of the serious estate (or mortgages) the have faith in invests in. These also trade like a inventory on the exchanges. An Equity REIT purchases ownership (equity) in houses even though a House loan REIT buys the home loans on qualities. Two critical advantages to proudly owning an REIT are the tax pros and the liquidity of the stability - you trade it just like a inventory. 3. Canadian Oil and Fuel Have faith in - This is an business that invests in oil and/or fuel output and possibly mining in Canada. Numerous of these are now investing on the American (US) exchanges. Acquire is the exact same as purchasing a stock in any other company. Tax positive aspects are very similar to individuals of an REIT and a big benefit - the 1 I like the most - is that some of these trusts pay out ridiculously superior dividends - and they pay month-to-month! My assistance: do your investigate, discover a Canadian Oil and Gasoline Rely on you like and then commit as a lot as you can. 4. MLP - Learn Limited Partnership - Want a minimal partnership that you can provide or trade as very easily as a inventory? Enter the Grasp Restricted Partnership. These hybrid corporations function the constrained legal responsibility of a partnership whilst enabling you to trade the partnership units - investment units - just as you would a inventory. What could be greater? A MLP delivers distributable cash stream as nicely as profits and these conditions should be mastered and comprehended just before a reasoned decision can be created relating to the invest in of an MLP for your investment portfolio. 5. If you beloved this article therefore you would like to obtain more info about http://www.juicenewton.com/reviews/cb-passive-income-review kindly visit our web page. Annuities - Who has not heard of an annuity? But do you know how they work? Let us hold this easy: an annuity is almost nothing far more than a deal you indication with an insurance enterprise that guarantees to spend you a particular set sum of income about a interval of time. You pay back for an annuity upon signing and then the insurance policy company repays you the quantity of your expense plus the "revenue" (we will maintain this basic and not use the specialized term) over a interval of several (or several) yrs. These are frequently thought of harmless steady investments appropriate for a conservative portfolio. 6. Strategies - Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities - Presented by the U.S Treasury, these are securities that are indexed to the rate of inflation this means your dividend will maximize as the level of inflation improves. A Tips pays interest each individual 6 months and pays the principal on maturity. Also a conservative investment, you may perhaps want to consider these if you are searching to protect and shield funds from the ravages of inflation though providing a steady and trusted revenue, but your funds may possibly not increase at the fee you would favor - but then we usually are not searching at cash appreciation in any case. seven. Dividend Shelling out Shares - Last but not least we get to what is probably the most familiar approach of passive profits. Everyone who is familiar with something about Wall Road appreciates that corporations fork out dividends to folks who have their stock. Appropriate? Properly, most of the time, if it is a nicely regarded and founded firm. Quite a few newer and scaled-down organizations will use their revenue to increase the firm instead of having to pay dividends and any business that incurs monetary trouble may possibly prevent spending dividends. So if you are heading to invest in stock to receive the money make positive the organization has a track document of shelling out dividends. The most effective acknowledged American organizations - usually referred to as the "Blue Chips" are also the firms that typically have paid out the ideal dividends. As with all other investments, investigate is important to seize the greatest dividends and goal all those corporations with the greatest potential in foreseeable future a long time. 8. Protected Phone calls - This is a passive financial investment instrument that is typically regarded dangerous. But it is not. A covered simply call is offering the option to purchase inventory that you very own. You do not promote the inventory, you only promote the option to buy that inventory at a long run value and time. The man or woman getting the lined phone purchases the selection at the cost you agree upon - really at which the industry agrees on - and you just set again and overlook it. Very well, not fairly. The man or woman who has bought the solution has the correct to buy your stock at any time among the time you sold the solution and the expiration of that possibility. Composing (providing) a protected phone is the only selections expenditure that is regarded secure ample by the IRS to be provided in a 401K or other retirement designs. But you must do your homework and comprehensively realize the world of alternatives just before making use of this strategy. nine. Actual Estate - All people appreciates what serious estate is and absolutely everyone knows - or at minimum is intuitively informed - that massive income can be created from real estate. Actual estate offers tax benefits as effectively as the option to highly leverage your expenditure - leverage remaining a component that is restricted or absent in lots of other investments. Several serious estate advisors and gurus insist that the 1 household at a time or the flipper technique or fixer higher or wholesale method or other flavor of the month is the absolute very best way to make funds in true estate. Generally talking, steer clear of all that. Earning major money - which means enormous income - in serious estate is probable with very leveraged bargains which are a certainty only in industrial residence. Several household homes, business office structures, retail services and warehouses would all constitute commercial home. Of these, the best strategy is to make investments in various loved ones attributes. The more substantial, the improved. This requires understanding and schooling extra than it necessitates cash. Money can always be obtained by way of your community, but knowledge is the one ingredient that will make this passive expenditure process function. And, with a big assets, the cash flow from that a person assets may well be all you want to protected your retirement - right now! 10. Business Ownership - No, this just isn't what you assume. Possessing a compact business for most folks is even worse than functioning nine to 5. In your own little business you get caught up in the aspects, making an attempt to make the business enterprise go, looking for a current market, working with customers it rapidly gets more than a total-time career. That's Ok if that is what you really like to do. But, what we necessarily mean below is starting a enterprise or franchise with the shorter time period objective of handing it off to someone to run. The more quickly you can do this the better. If you can do it from the really commencing so considerably the greater - the much more time you totally free for oneself, the additional time you will have to appreciate and/or develop more passive income sources. A book that will enable you is The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, an additional is the Four Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferris. Both of those of these textbooks will assistance you structure your small business possession in a way that frees you from actually jogging the company on your own - margaritas on the beach any one?
