We had so much fun yesterday we fed Elephants, goats and these birdies. Along with seeing all the lovely animals @colchester_zoo (One of the down sides of single parenthood is trying to be in the moment with your children and help them reach and experience things and also capture it to keep for memories all by yourself. I'm so sad we don't have footage of feeding the elephants but we will all have the memories of the elephants getting our whole hands wet with his slobber as we fed him). #loneparent #memoriesforlife

Thought I better post something as it has been a while. Been under a lot of pressure at work with the Corana virus, putting up extra signs and extra hand sanitisers, making sure the communal areas are given an extra clean and on top of that a lot of residents away so communicating the core information accross to everyone can be quite tricky. I have advised my residents that First Port have advised to cancel all social groups until further notice. But my determined lot are carrying on as normal but the attendance numbers are down by half.

Moving on to my home life I have been trying to get the coursework done as much as I can but generally by the time I get a minute to sit down by myself in peace with the lap top is around 9:30pm. My darling son can still be awake at these times. He gets very anxious at bedtimes and really struggle to unwind and switch off and funnily enough I am exactly the same but in adult form. I can reallly sympathise with him, however some days you just want to scream go to f**king bed!! And some days I do but this is not the right solution, I need to have endless patience and use kind words and ask him how I can help? I naturally have put a lot in place to encourage a calm setting at bedtime such as like low dim lighting, making sure the washing machine is not going on and also meditation (new horizon) from YouTube is something is great for my son and he really enjoys listening to after hours of me encouraging him to get ready for bed.

So generally by 9:30pm my son is settled in bed and occasionally asleep. Then I can open my laptop and try and get through an hour of coursework until my eyes start to burn and I can focus on the letters any more. Then I’ll switch off the laptop and try again the following day. This seems to be working ok but a very slow progress. I know I’m a coupe of mi the or so I will find a routine that works well for both me and my son. To make sure I stay on top of my learning.

Alot has happened since I last posted. My partner Kim died of metastatic breast cancer in may 2013 when this little beauty was 11 weeks old. I’ve been learning how to be on my own while bringing up a very active little boy who is now 26 months old. Luckily, we’re doing ok, living every day and hopefully Kim is proud of us both.
