I can't draw Tulin very well but I wanted to write a happy ending thing for him after beating Tears of the Kingdom, so here's a story where he gets married, years later, to the reader! :3 It's embarrassing but whatever:
Today was the big day! It wasn't everyday the land of Hyrule got to celebrate a wedding, let alone one featuring you!
Everyone in Rito Village wanted to be there to watch Tulin and support him during his big day (as well as you!) The rito were a close-knit group of birds that all grew up together and knew each other well! The village was a bit small for everybirdy to be in the same place at once though… so, the two of you found a nice place along the mountaintops to share your special ceremony.
“Oh gosh,” Tulin blushed, feeling nervous about the big day ahead. “It's really happening, huh?”
It was a few years ago where you and this little white bird got to adventure alongside one another. And while some adventurers split ways after, it looks like you were able to stay with Tulin, and nurture a relationship together over the years. He was always so excited early on when you first used to visit Rito Village, and his excitement never seemed to fade.
Back then, he always looked up at you with his big beautiful eyes, the fancy feathers surrounding them in dark grey and green looked like he was wearing makeup! Not to mention the gentle peachy blush of color layered on his cheeks. …It always made you wonder if those were his natural feather colors! It sure looked different from when he was a goofy-looking hatchling. And hey! Now that silly little bird had grown up to be a fine warrior. He'd proven himself as capable of being independent, while still caring and thoughtful. And because of the time you two spent together, he'd gotten a lot better at working alongside others too. Neither of you had to do things alone!
As you two looked at each other now, Tulin was clearly a bit giddy, and nervous. One of his feathered fingers found its way into his beak. He nibbled on it nervously as everyone gathered together.
“I-I guess I should put on the outfit soon, huh?” He looked over to the more traditional outfits ritos wore during this special ceremony. “I can't wait to see what you're wearing! I know that's a surprise~” He chuckled playfully, “You ARE going to wear something, right?? T-try not to embarrass me too much out there, will ya?” He playfully winked at you with a smirk.
“I didn't think our big adventure would lead to such an amazing moment…” He looked down your shoulder and arm, over to your hand. “It really makes you think about that ring… I didn't really think too much about it! I, I didn't know it was a romantic thing… I mean, I don't think it was supposed to be, but…” Tulin looked down at his ankle, where a very special, shining stone of his own was wrapped around. “I still haven't taken mine off… even if everything's over, my pledge to you is for eternity. I'll ALWAYS be here by your side! You know you can count on me, right?” He clasped his wings together with a hopeful look in his eyes.
“A-anyway… we better get started! Haha, I can see dad's already weeping~” Tulin's father was usually such a stern and serious bird too!
The moment arrived. You got prepared and waited as the music began to play. A chorus of birds, a fancy organ playing, a lofty speech, and was that an accordion in the background? Whatever instrument it was, it sure sounded like a birdy wedding was taking place!
As you looked out into the crowd, you saw fellow adventurers and friends you made along the way. Even Prince Sidon was there! Why did the zora's eyes look a bit more wet than usual? Despite the emotional day, everyone was so happy for you, and it was a reminder of how beloved you were as the hero of Hyrule. Surrounded by friends, nature, the mountains and the wild – looking into the sky full of clouds, floating islands, and beautiful dragons as well! The whole world felt different today as you made your way up to the very front of the ceremony.
It was a little hard to look out at the crowd with so many people looking at you - thankfully their attention was taken by Tulin shortly after, who was all dressed in a fancy white wedding outfit. It was… a bit drapey and longer than expected… it didn't look exactly like a wedding dress, but more feminine than expected for the average male rito's wedding attire! Tulin clearly looked a bit embarrassed about it, but always heard it was normal, so he did his best to treat it like normal.
The girls in his village blushed, giggled, and cheered as he made his way on stage! He was one of the only males the ladies grew up with! Everyone thought Tulin might end up with one of them, but instead, he ended up with you…
The white bird held a bundle of flowers. A Warm Safflina representing the warmth in your hearts. A Swift Violent for how quickly his was beating. A Green Stambulb for all you can endure together. A Silent Princess for a love that would never go extinct. A Sundelion that could heal any of life's gloom. A Brightbloom Seed that shined bright in the darkest of places. And a Blue Nightshade as everyone forever held their peace.
“Well… here we are!” Tulin couldn't help but chirp shyly as he looked up at you during the ceremony. While you eyed your male birdy bride, he also made sure to take a look at your choice of attire with wide eyes!
The rito leading the ceremony turned to you and asked, “Do you, our fine hero, take Tulin, to forever be your mate?”
Tulin and everyone else was used to a silent protagonist. But this is one moment where you should probably speak up so that they know!
“And do you, Tulin, take Hyrule's hero to forever be your mate? To love and to cherish, for the rest of your days?”
The determined little birdy looked at you and gave a firm nod so you knew that he meant it. “I do!”
Tulin's dad covered his own big beak to keep his emotional sobbing hushed!
“Then I now pronounce you, hero and bride! You may now kiss the bird.” Tulin looked a little confused at being called the bride, did he mean bird? Sure he looked pretty and held flowers and it looked like he had a dress and his face looked like he wore makeup and-
“Ohh, it's fine!” he thought, as he tossed the flowers up into the air and leaped towards you for a big kiss with his beak, your first time as a wed couple, mates for life!
You felt Tulin's cheerful beak press against you. He closed his eyes, tilting his head slightly as he fit his pointy little beak right in. You closed your eyes as the two of you enjoyed the intimate embrace, publicly in front of everyone! Tulin loved you and wanted everyone to know that he wanted to be with you forever, and in the closest of ways possible too.
“Mmmmuah! Hehehe!” he opened his eyes and joyfully looked into yours, with his beautiful blue gaze. The rito had chosen you to dedicate to for the rest of his days.
Tulin took your hand and the two of you walked down the aisle together. His mother and father smiled at you two, proud of how much their little birdy had grown! There were so many tears in the kingdom shed this day…
After enjoying a celebration with all your friends, enjoying the beautiful sunset, putting a cap on any remaining love interests, and having lots of fun and romantic moments with Tulin, you two had one more destination for the night.
Lover's Pond was a special heart-shaped lake that you two had been to before, during a certain proposal. You felt the need to visit there together once again. There was a whole nice fancy camp set up there so you two could enjoy being one with the wild, underneath the stars, as you started your new life together.
You waved back at your friends and family, with a very special bird at your side, as you two took off to the skies together. “Soar long~!”

"A robbery?" Arisu questioned, confused.
"Wait, you asked us to gather here and you had no idea why?" Karube inquired.
Arisu approached you in the afternoon and suggested that you all meet in his room tonight. Of course, none of you questioned it, so you went there. You initially assumed he wanted to talk about the sensor-glasses you had finally fixed, but it turned out to be something completely different. After all, a cat-like guy was also waiting for you.
Chishiya had a plan and would need all of you to complete it. You and Karube exchanged a doubtful look, but Chota and Arisu were totally engaged in the idea. Nonetheless, you joined the plan against your will. After all, you couldn't abandon the two knuckleheads alone. Shibuki and Usagi joined in as well, most likely because they didn't had another option. Aguni will follow you regardless, since Hatter died in a game and he became the new leader of the beach. Because of the bustle at the beach, the timing couldn't be better for a heist, you had to acknowledge that.
The idea was for Arisu and Karube to break into the royal suite while Aguni and his henchmen were relaxing by the poolside. They did it every day for thirty minutes before getting ready for the day's game. The remainder of your team would keep an eye on the corridors. Instead, you opted to go with Arisu and Karube. Your friends were definitely against the idea, but if you had to join because of them, you wanted to be able to choose what you would do. After all, this entire plan makes no sense. Chishiya and Kuina could've done it on their own; therefore, you were clearly a bait. Nonetheless, Arisu agreed to hear his plan, and now that Chishiya is an executive officer, he could easily blame you for everything that will happen after you had heard his idea.
♠️♥️♣️♦️
"This is crazy," Arisu mumbled as you entered the room.
"We would never be able to pay for one night here. Even if we all put our money together," Karube said as he looked around the room.
"We don't have time for this. We must find the save," you said as you shut the door behind you.
Arisu talked with Chishiya via walkie-talkie, but the poor quality of the intercom made it difficult to hear most of their conversation. It's not like you cared anyway.
"I found it!"
Suddenly, Arisu shouted out, causing you and Karube to approach him. He was crouching halfway into the closet near the desk you were looking through. Obviously, you did not look for the save, but rather for information about the people at the beach. You wanted to learn more about the people in charge here, but you couldn't find anything.
"What is the code?" Karube inquired as he took the walkie-talkie.
"8055. The seal of the envelope doesn't say Boss, it's actually the numbers of the code," he responded and Arisu began to enter the code.
"You would be a formidable enemy.", mumbled Arisu.
He paused for a moment before entering the final number, but neither you nor Karube forced him to. This was his final chance to change his mind, so he should make the decision himself. A loud alarm abruptly jolted you out of your daydream. The code was wrong. Chishiya really did use you.
Karube realized something was wrong and shoved you behind the other, still closed, wardrobe door. Only seconds later, the suite door flung open, and heavy footsteps could be heard.
"A little birdy told me that some rats were trying to steal from me. Well, I'll be damned. Looks like you are a useful man after all, Chishiya," Aguni chuckled.
Karube stood up quickly to draw attention away from your hiding spot. He would do anything to protect you, regardless of the cost. He felt like he owed you this for everything you did for him and his friends. Suddenly, punches could be heard. Karube wanted to protect you, and if you left your hiding place, all he did would be pointless, but you couldn't just watch. You then made the mistake of looking around the door.
While other guys kicked Karube, Niragi raised his rifle to hit Arisu repeatedly. You couldn't just sit there after witnessing the scenario. So, when Aguni approached to kick Karube in the head -very likely to kill him- you sprang out of your hiding spot and tackled him, surprising everyone.
You were proud of yourself for getting that behemoth of a man to fall back, but it was probably only because he hadn't expected an attack. You even landed a couple pushes before a sharp pain in your head sent you to the ground. When you collapsed, you could swear you saw astonishment on Chishiya's face. You apparently failed to inform him that you would be joining Karube and Arisu. Your intuition was correct from the start. He's a small, self-centered monster.
"Hehe, foolish bitch," Niragi chuckled as he kicked your side. "Did you truly believe you could do something against us?"
Karube's disappointed expression broke your heart. What did you expect to achieve? Defeating these guys? You were once again pathetic. You were tired of being pathetic.
"Fuck you!" you hissed, grabbing the end of his gun as he attempted to hit your head with it.
You took advantage of the brief moment of surprise and shoved the weapon's barrel into his face with all the strength you could muster. He stumbled backwards, just enough for you to stand up. Everyone looked at you, but you didn't fight the black haired guy any more, against everyone's expectation.
"You piece of shit," you snarled, instead running up to the cat-eyed traitor.
You punched him in the face and kicked him in the stomach before someone grabbed a handful of your hair and dragged you back. He flung you on the ground beside your friends, but quickly pulled you up by your hair again. Aguni was missing from the militants' group, therefore he must be the one holding you up.
"He had a walkie-talkie. They must have a partner, find out who it is," one of the militants exclaimed after searching the room for another person.
"We already know who it is. Don't we?" Niragi asked, grabbing your chin.
"Chi-," but you were stopped off when he rose up and kicked you in the face.
"Y/n," you heard your friends mutter, but you didn't pay attention.
"No one ever asked you, little girl. Get  these two girls and that pathetic long-haired guy," Niragi commanded, after gabbing your chin again, to appreciate the damage he caused.
You hated yourself for it, yet you spat in his face, daggers aimed at him. "He isn't pathetic. No one is as pathetic as you and this guy," you said, looking at Chishiya.
"You're getting on my nerves, baby. How about you finally shut up?" Niragi remarked, a little too calm for your liking.
"This is a major betrayal. We should make an example of them for the whole beach," a random guy said, but Niragi only chuckled.
"No. I have a better idea. The guys. Let's tie them up and toss them in an empty room, blindfolded and with their ears plugged. Their visas expire tomorrow. Rob them of all their senses and they will spend the last day of their lives in terror," Niragi stated while bringing out a piece of paper with Arisus' visa printed on it.
Karube is lucky that you didn't play games together following the seven of hearts. His visa was valid for one day longer than Arisus', but they still faced a massive problem.
"What about her?", asked another guy.
"She cares deeply for her friends. Leave her to me," Niragi added, cruelly smiling at you.
"But first," Niragi stopped, before kneeling you in the face. Aguni must have let go of your hair now, as your face soon hit the floor, meeting Karube's anxious eyes. Niragi stomped down on your trembling body as your nose began to bleed from the impact. Arisu lost his consciousness, due to the hits. Karube followed shortly after, but not before whispering your name again and again.
"That's enough," Chishiya said, rubbing his slightly swollen cheek.
"Why are you trying to interfere? Are you one of them?" Niragi spoke as he marched up to the blonde.
"Take a look at her. She is not as tough as the guys. You should quit beating her if you want to punish her. Otherwise, you will kill her."
Chishiya had no idea why he had stopped him. While he thought you were intelligent and a decent person to be around, you didn't mean anything to him. So, why did he help you? It was this strange sensation in his chest that told him to. He had no idea what that feeling was or why it was there. You should have just gone along with his plan. Why did you have to be so persistent?
"Whatever," Niragi said, ignoring the remark. He pulled your hair and lifted your head to look at it again. "You'll appreciate what I have in mind for you," he said, staring into your bloodied face. He smashed your head into the ground, but it's not like that hurt you because you also lost your consciousness.
♠️♥️♣️♦️
What time is it now? Where are the others? Are they save? Are they still alive?
The room's windows were covered, and all clocks were either broken or missing, so there was no way to tell the time. The only assurance you had was that they didn't want you to leave, because your hands were tied to a heater underneath the window. Loud footsteps approached your room, followed by several more. What is Niragi up to? Basically, nothing could have prepared you for what was about to happen.
"Hold her legs down," one of the several men commanded as they entered.
You couldn't tell what they were talking about at first, but you later wished you hadn't found out. Four men were pinning someone to the bed. Not just anybody. Usagi.
"Ah, you're awake," Niragi said as he entered the room. "I promised you'd like what I'm about to do," he chuckled, pulling your hair and forcing you to look at him.
"You're lucky we couldn't find the other two, so we had to change our plans," he smirked, forcing his finger into the wound on your forehead, making you quiver. You must have gotten it when he knocked you out.
"Y/n?" asked Usagi worried. She probably didn't see you since she had been fighting the militants until now.
"You!" shouted Niragi to one of the guys who was casually leaning against the door. "Make sure she's looking before I start with her," he said, pointing at you.
"Traitors get punished. Even kids who misbehave get locked in the closet. What do you think the punishment is for a woman?", Niragi asked as he opened the tie on his swimming trunks and climbed on Usagi.
The rope around your hands didn't budge no matter what you did. All that happened was that the rope burned deeper into your flesh. With a tiny rattling, you notice you weren't tied to the heater itself, but to a plastic pole screwed into the wall above it, most likely to dry towels or something. You could have ripped it off the wall if it hadn't been for the guy holding your head in a headlock.
You must be able to do something. Usagi, Shibuki, and Chota must have been looking for you. Later ones must have been more fortunate, otherwise they would have seen them as well. It was your chance to help now, but what could you do?

@justbeingedgy @weird-colombian-gurl You asked me to elaborate on the "Ches already has a kid" theory in the notes of that one mf analysis post (which I really liked, go check it out!!), so that's why I'm making this one, cuz notes are a bit too restricting for what I want to talk about!
Though next time think twice before asking me to talk about something I'm interested in, because you never know when you're gonna wake up lovecraftian horrors!! :DDD you'll see what i mean when you press read more :))
So, I'll say it right now - this post is largely inspired by the second story highlight of this Instagram user (sorry, I don't know their name, only that their Instagram handle is dee_girl_metalfamilyfan), it's in Russian though, so keep that in mind
Alright, so I'll break this theory into two parts: the first one will be all about Ches, and the second will be about his potential child (spoiler: you might've seen her!)
Without any further ado, let's get to the Ches part:
1. The creators said that they're gonna explore Ches' character in the second season. Obviously, it doesn't mean anything on it's own, but just wait.
Dima: Let's talk about the second season a little. Of course, the seconds season will show development of the old characters, as well as new ones. That's in short. As you see, Ches looks a bit different here.
Tumblr media
Alina: Yeah, we'll show a bit more about Ches at the ages of 18 to 20. His past. We'll reveal a bit more about his complex character, as much as it's possible.
(The source of the translation) Also I think they also said at one point that adult Ches will get some character development too? But that's probably a given, considering that we wouldn't see his youth if it wouldn't have affected him in the present, flashbacks without any relevance to the overall story don't sound so good
2. Not sure about this one (we don't know how much in character it was) but I can't not mention it.
Alina: Actually there was this one fanfic that I really liked. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was about Ches having a daughter, which is a cool topic. It was relatively in character and truly interesting. It’s great when people focus not just on sexual relationships of the characters, but also try to look at their development. That was a really interesting one. That’s it.
(UnityCon '19)
3. This one's a pretty big one, in my opinion. So, this is what they said on ArtWave '19:
Dima: Ches also has flaws.
Alina: [to Dima] Don’t spoil stuff.
Dima: His flaw is that he's very... irresponsible, let’s say.
So, maybe, just maybe, Ches does have a child but he, you know... left them? As the Instagram highlight from the beginning say: "he might be irresponsible enough to leave his child, and he's probably irresponsible enough not to use any contraception" (rephrased, not the exact quote)
4. Alright, so, the only mention of this one I can think of right now is the aforementioned Instagram highlight. The Metalfamilyfan says:
I contacted Korg/Корж, (admin of @ metal_yama [and I believe one of the organizers of the Metal Family Meetup in Moscow]) and she asked Alina on one of the meetups: "if Ches were to be a father, what kind of father would he be?"
And she said: "The kind of that would say "kid, look at that birdie over there!" an then he would run away"
Someone's words are not the perfect source, but they did tag Metal Yama and from what I know they didn't disagree with what the author of the page said. if anyone has anything to say about this (disprove or definitely prove what I said) feel free to do so in a reblog, notes, DMs, send me an anonymous ask, or in any other way you feel comfortable with
5. Ches has literally been through the same thing, and we know how important the theme of the cycle of abuse is in Metal Family (or, in this case, the cycle of neglect? Abandonment? Idk)
Tumblr media
You managed to hide your PREGNANCY from me! AND you've been hiding the child from me for a whole year!
YES, because you would've insisted on aborting him!
AND NOW I'M INSISTING ON PUTTING HIM UP FOR ADOPTION! OR I'LL LEAVE RIGHT NOW!
6. Here we can see Ches with a blonde girl. Nothing too special, probably just a one time hook up. He doesn't seem to be interested in her, and she seems to be annoyed with him.
Tumblr media
But wait...
Tumblr media
What is this?
Like, it doesn't even matter if there's actually a punk/rock/whatever band named MOM or not, I just think it's pretty weird to put it in this particular drawing of Ches and this random woman who is implied to have slept with him. It's not integral to Ches' character as, for example, Korol i Shut is. It's just... there. For some reason.
------------
Alright, now, finally let's get to the second part of the theory: who is, exactly, his child?
The short answer is, according to this theory, her:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, let me list every single instance of her appearing in canon (and by canon I mean everything made by the creators. Even with this definition of canon it's not much, I promise): The screenshot you can see above on the left (it's a screenshot from the second season and it appeared here), an instagram story posted by Alina (above, right), and two drawing with a lot of characters where you can spot the girl which I'm gonna call her PinkHair or PH for short, I'll mention them later I feel like I should mention this, comparing the sources of the images and the dates when they were posted, it's safe to assume that the screenshot in the classroom has the latest and final version of her design. The red hair most likely doesn't mean anything
1. Alright. So. we've seen Dee and PinkHair in a classroom together, so they're most likely related in some way, or at least they know each other. Their exact relationship doesn't matter here, because all that matters here is that they're related story-wise
Let's look at the first image. This is the banner of the main Metal Family channel. Ches is near Heavy (they get along quite well and I'm sure Heavy aspires to be like Ches in many ways), Dee (we can see his classmates/friends near him, they're all about his age), and we can see people related to Glam on the left side of the image (including Ches!), and Vicky's - on the right side (notice how the hell sign is also there)
Now, I'm not absolutely sure about this one, but it's still kind of weird - look at the image on the right (it's from ArtWave 2021 btw) - wouldn't it make more sense to put PinkHair near Dee? Also, Curiously enough, not only is she not close to Dee on this image, but she's also standing next to Ches.
Though this whole thing could be explained by art theory (too many small things in one corner of your drawing isn't great composition wise lol sorry PH) but I still can't quite skip this point
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Remember the "MOM" lady? Fun fact, she has the exact same pearl earring that PinkHair has on the screenshot.
Tumblr media
3. I'll put all similarities with her supposed parents in this point: Mother: * She's also pretty uh.. glam? for the lack of a better word? Or feminine in a traditional sense, yeah I think that's a better way to put it. Like colors they prefer to wear for example, and jewelry. Characters like that aren't common in Metal Family * She's gotta be a blonde. I can't imagine her being anything but blonde. If she manages to maintain that hair color as a brunette I'm just straight up assuming her character arc is gonna be killing God because these kind of people are capable of anything. I fear them with every fiber of my being. * I can't say for sure because of the shading, but it seems like they both have gray eyes, and she also has darker skin compared to most MF characters. Though, it's likely that Mom just applied a lot of fake tan Ches: * We know that Ches for sure has darker skin * AND grey eyes * There's also some possible personality similarities but I'm not sure if you can compare a child to a parent they've never really known in this way
That's about it, I suppose, I hope there isn't that many grammar mistakes and logically unfinished parts and whatnot in this post I forgot to edit lol x) I'm not sure how to end this post other than to remind you guys that almost all the points in this posts are inspired by the "тупая теория" highlight on the dee_girl_metalfamilyfan's Instagram page, so go check them out and subscribe, they post Dee x The Quest Girl fanart and and always credit the artists. Without them this post would be much, much shorter.

The Weight Of Lies (Byeongkwan)
Tumblr media
Title: The Weight Of Lies
Pairing: Byeongkwan x Reader
Genre: Fluff; (In Ju's words) Spicy
Word Count: 3,043 Words
Writer: Whattodowithkpop [Lio]
Summary: Much like the adored story of Pinocchio, Byeongkwan has a tell for when he lies. After receiving an interesting gift from his aunt, whenever he lies, a peculiar anomaly occurs with this gift...
*****
Little, dark headed Byeongkwan runs through the house as soon as he sees the familiar car park in the driveway. This familiar car belonged to someone he hadn't seen in a long while, making his excitement go through the roof.  He runs through the house, finding his parents in the kitchen where they sat enjoying each other's company. He uses his limited vocabulary and animated finger pointing and arm pulling to draw their attention to the driveway. The person he was waiting for had yet to hear the boy speak, making Byeongkwan that more anxious to showcase his development. His parents watch as the young boy fidgets at the door, waiting for the familiar figure to enter the home. The door creaks open, revealing a tall, slender figure, hair down to her waist and dressed to the nines. She looks down, seeing the boy with bright shinning eyes staring up at her with amusement.
"What do we have here?" The woman's low voice travels through the house, making Byeongkwan squeal.
He runs up to the tall figure, wrapping his arms around her legs as his bright eyes look up at her.
"I hear from a little birdie that someone has some things to say."
"It's me!" Byeongkwan giggles as the woman leans down, bringing him into a full hug.
"He has been waiting to see you since he spoke his first words." Byeongkwan's mom speaks up, stepping forward to hug the woman as the two laugh.
"I'm sorry to keep him waiting." The woman winks at Byeongkwan. "How are you doin' sis?"
"We're doing good." Byeongkwan's mom smiles as her husband comes up behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders.
There is a tug on the woman's clothing, a light doe eyed Byeongkwan catching her attention and looking up at her with anticipation.
"I promise I didn't forget." Byeongkwan's aunt leans down with a laugh, coming face to face with her nephew as she lays her purse on the ground.
Her fingers dig through its contents, offering Byeongkwan many facial expressions to make him laugh. She pulls out an orange box, handing it to the small boy who takes it with much gratitude. His eyes sparkle as he opens the box, pulling out the item that rested inside. The sterling silver twinkled in the florescent lights that brightened the room, the singular chain clasped together deeming it a bracelet.
"It doesn't much fit you now." His aunt explains as she takes the chain from his small hands, clipping it into a circle. "But when it does, it will be very useful to you."
At the time Byeongkwan didn't comprehend her words, nor did he get the chance to ask her for her full meaning. However, it felt natural for him to wear the bracelet once he got old enough. It still dangled on his wrist the first time he put it on for kindergarten, due to the lankiness of his still small wrists. This small setback didn't stop him from wearing it as much as possible.
His aunt had passed away a year after giving him the bracelet. She was a scientist, one that accomplished many things. Unfortunately, because of this, she was sought after by many people, good and bad. Her death records as an accident, the suspicious case undergoing no investigation left the family feeling uneasy about the true nature of her death. Byeongkwan doesn't remember much about his aunt, however he does remember loving and her visits. Even though he couldn't remember much about her, him wearing the bracelet made him feel close to her in some way. That's why he took special care to wear it always.
It was an eye catching gift, piquing the interest of many other students. One that was particularly interested in the silver chain was a little girl. She would stare at it as it dangled off Byeongkwan's wrist, her eyes shinning as they focused on the small piece of jewelry. She asked him many times to play with it, to which he agreed on the condition that it stayed on his wrist. She would intertwine their fingers, causing a mad blush to overtake Byeongkwan's cheeks. With their fingers intertwined, she would trace the delicate chain with her fingers as she admired it.
This became a common occurrence, her taking his hand in hers to play with the bracelet always ending in a blushing Byeongkwan. One of the many days of this common action, she had looked up from the bracelet, noticing his red ears.
"Are you blushing?" She had asked him, her head tilting as her hand kept a tight grip of his.
"No..." Byeongkwan whispered, his lips pouting out.
Without warning, his wrist feels heavier making him look down at it in wonder. As the two children look to his wrist they see a small little charm now attached to one of the chains. It was a yellow hat, rocking back in forth with the direction of the changing winds.
"When did you get this?" The little girl asked Byeongkwan, her eyes shinning even brighter, using the pad of her finger to flick the charm with care.
"I... I.. I didn't.."
"Is it because you said you weren't blushing when you actually were?" She teases with a small giggle.
"I was not!" Byeongkwan yells, his face turning a deeper shade of red.
Once again, his wrist felt heavier, the little girl squealing beside him as she lifts their hands, showing a red overalls charm.
"It was!"
"It was not!"
Another charm, one looking like a black top hat nestled between the two others.
"I think it's when you lie."
Byeongkwan looks to the bracelet in concern, feeling an uneasiness in his gut.
"Tell another one!" Her eyes sparkling, putting the stars on a clear night to shame.
Byeongkwan watched her excited eyes stare at his bracelet, want to give in to her wishes.
"I don't like you."
She looks up in shock, her bottom lip quivering, tears filling her eyes to the brim as her fingers slack against his. Byeongkwan feels immense guilt wash over him.
"No, no, I was lying." Byeongkwan tries to reason as he pulls his bracelet up, another charm in the shape of a black cat on it now.
Her tears stop as she watches all the charms dangle in front of her. She sniffles training her fingers across the charms.
"You really like me?"
"I do."
His face blushes again, laugh erupting from her at the sight, prompting her to hug him before intertwining their fingers again.
"I'll keep your aunt's magic bracelet a secret." She puts her finger to her lips, Byeongkwan nodding in agreement.
~
Years later and the two are still inseparable. Byeongkwan had done well in keeping his lies to a minimum, only acquiring a few more small charms to add to his collection. They had tested the bracelet in many aspects, including letting her wear it for a day as she tried her hand at some lies. It resulted in zero added charms, but she finally got to wear it for a short while before having to give it back to let it rest on its permanent home. They never could explain the science behind the bracelet, no matter how hard they tried. The secret behind it most likely passed on with its creator, leaving it a forever question mark in their lives.
As The pair grew they always appeared to be a couple, this was likely due to her unbreakable habit of intertwining her fingers with his any chance she got. Every new school year, the other students assumed they were together, neither gender wanting to intervene. Unfortunately, their final year of high school was Byeongkwan's biggest nightmare. The boys were beginning to notice her, her awkward stage far from over meaning many more boys were shooting their shot. Byeongkwan couldn't lie, he hated the extra attention she got. Not because he was jealous, but because he had a crush on her, so any competition for her affection he saw as a threat and therefore disliked them. She didn't accept many advances, unfortunately for Byeongkwan, there was the occasional suitor she would give a chance. However, she was often quick to drop them, much to the relief of Byeongkwan.
One day she enters their last class, a large grin adorning her face, directed towards him.
"Byeongkwan." She grabs his attention, sitting next to him and pulling her chair closer to him so she could whisper.
He hums as his head stays resting on his crossed arms, his eyes closed for a few moments before the teacher came to start class.
"You know the new quarterback?"
The mention of the new student caught his attention, His head lifting to meet her eyes.
"What about him?"
"He asked me out."
"You said no, right?"
"Why would I say no? Of course I said yes." She laughs.
Byeongkwan's heart drops as the aforementioned quarterback enters the classroom, his eyes training on her and offering her a wink and a smile. She waves at him and winks back, making Byeongkwan sick to his stomach.
"He's so handsome isn't he?"
"A real dreamboat." Byeongkwan mumbles, feeling a new weight added to his bracelet. He had forgot about the consequences of lying in that moment, hoping she didn't notice the lapse in behavior.
Class starts before they can discuss it more, all Byeongkwan could do was hope she wouldn't stick with him for too long.
~
Weeks passed, many weeks at that and the quarterback was still around. Of course Byeongkwan didn't like him for obvious reasons, but there was something more that irked him. This guy was very cocky and spoke bad about everyone that he knew. He treated her with little regard, calling her names, saying terrible things about her when she wasn't around. Byeongkwan wanted to punch him, but he knew he couldn't lie his way out of that fight or explanation.
He had butted into almost all of their time together, meaning Byeongkwan hadn't had the chance to tell her how horrible her, now deemed, boyfriend was. However, every time he made plans with her, the new boyfriend seemed to come along as well.
He was so thankful when she asked to study with him for their upcoming test. She had told him her boyfriend was busy so he couldn't study with them. Byeongkwan stayed quiet, knowing if he said anything he would be adding unnecessary charms to his arm.
They studied as if all was back the way it was. It was the first time since she started dating the star quarterback that Byeongkwan got to enjoy his time with his best friend. He hadn't seen her genuine laugh since her new relationship. It filled him with joy, but also despair as his thoughts clouded with the reason he hadn't heard it.
Byeongkwan decided to be cordial, asking how her boyfriend was, even though he didn't have an interest in how he was.
"He's busy with practice." She tells him, no change in her normal inflection.
"He's been busy with practice a lot lately." Byeongkwan comments, being as nonchalant as he could be about his ill feelings towards his busy schedule.
"I'm guessing he always is, even before transferring here."
"That sounds believable."
"You don't like him." She states more than asks, catching Byeongkwan by surprise.
"I never said that." A half truth to cover up the full truth in that Byeongkwan had a strong distaste for the man.
She stands, stepping closer to his already upright form, his back hitting his desk as he backs away from her approaching steps. He lays his wrist with the bracelet on the desk, hiding it from her knowing gaze. In the sudden movements, his glasses slide down the bridge of his nose, resting at the end as he watches her from over the frames.
"What do you not like about him?" She inquires, looking up at him with curiosity.
"He says things about you behind your back." Byeongkwan tells her, not wanting to keep that a secret.
"I'm not surprised." She shrugs, not seeming hurt by this information.
"Then why are you still with him?"
"Do you have someone better in mind?"
Byeongkwan wanted to die right there, the way her eyes were looking at him made his heart beat faster and his breathing go irregular. She was waiting for an answer and he only had one truth in his head and knew he couldn't admit that. The lie left his mouth without so much as a thought.
"No."
Her head tilts as he feels his wrist bare the weight of his new lie.
"Byeongkwan." She approaches him, her body mere inches from being completely flush with his. "Do you like me?"
Byeongkwan felt the room heat up, his skin feeling on fire as she awaited his answer. He gulps, feeling a heavy lump sit in his throat that sat there without so much as a movement.
"No."
Another charm added, Byeongkwan's hand becoming tired from the collection appearing on the silver chain.
"You have no attraction to me?"
He shakes his head, not trusting his voice.
"Use your words, BK." She uses his nickname, one she didn't use often, causing a strong inhale to come from his nose.
"No." His voice was shaky, as shaky as his arm holding the weight of his lies.
"You don't get nervous when I hold your hand?"
"Please don't make me answer these." He could feel his face burning as he tried his best to avoid her eyes.
"If you were telling the truth I wouldn't ask them."
"I am telling the truth." Another charm.
"Byeongkwan, I can tell when you're lying cause you are so terrible at it."
She reaches her hand out to his shoulder, his eyes squeeze shut as he braces for her next move. The shoulder her hand rests on begins to tingle, the feeling following her fingers as they trail down his arm at an excruciating slow pace. The heat in the room increasing to unbearable temperatures as her fingers reach his bare forearm.
"Can I see your bracelet?"
"Please don't make me." He pleads in words and deeds as he opens his eyes to convey his pleas that way.
"Why not?" She asks, her face twisting into sadness, a face much like the one from all those years ago when he told the lie of not liking her.
Byeongkwan wanted to avoid the truth, knowing it would expose all his lies. However this sad face of hers was something he couldn't bear to see.
"Because I can't." He breathes, his voice shaky and weak from the heat his body had experienced.
"Yes you can, I would never make you feel terrible about this."
"It's.. It's not that." He sighs, the weight he felt on his chest creating an unfamiliar anxious feeling, that paired along with his mind swirling with a million thoughts he felt he could pass out.
"My wrist is stuck from all the charms..."
"Byeongkwan, you could have told me the truth." She scolds him through her giggles, her fingers reaching his, an electric shock going through him at the contact.
Her fingers intertwine with his, like they had done so countless times before. However, this time, something felt different. Byeongkwan felt warmth throughout his body and fireworks in his stomach. He wasn't sure if these were pleasant feelings yet, but he wasn't going to stop her as she brought his wrist from behind his back.
The chain was full of charms now, various objects adorning Byeongkwan's wrist as she inspected it with care.
The pad of her finger traces the charms, them swaying even heavier against the friction. Her eyes trail upwards to their intertwined hands, her eyes darting to Byeongkwan's for a quick second before staring back at their hands.
"Our fingers have always intertwined perfectly." She notes.
Byeongkwan watches her, a blushing heat covering his whole body as she inspects him with great intent.
"I wish the bracelet worked on me."
She took a step closer to Byeongkwan, her chest meeting his as she looks deep into his eyes.
"That way I could say how much I adore you and want you to be mine. I could say it all without a single charm appearing on the chain. I could say that I love you and you could believe me without a doubt because my bracelet would show no deceit."
Byeongkwan's mouth hung open as she stared at him, waiting for his response. He believed her. All the words she spoke, each sentence felt like truth to him, he didn't need a bracelet to believe that. However, he couldn't get the words out to convey that to her, so he did the only thing he could think to do.
With his free hand he wraps it around her waist, still holding her hand like his life depended on it as he introduces theirs lip, his kiss passionate to pour years of feelings into the kiss. She made a small sound of surprise at the weight of the kiss, but kissed him back with as much passion as he was giving off. Her hand went to the nape of his neck, pushing his lips further into hers. Their oxygen was running out, however neither one seemed to care as they stay lip locked, trying to get enough air through their noses as they clung to each other.
She pulls away, her breath coming out in heavy puffs of air as her chest pushes against him with every breath out, his demeanor similar to hers. Their lips were still touching as he spoke his next words through his panting.
"I love you."
It was barley a whisper, but she heard it and when she looked down to his wrist to see if his bracelet would become heavier, her smile widened as she watched the bracelet stay the same, he spoke no false words.
She looks back at him, her eyes boring into his as love danced in them. They had a lot of kisses and touches to catch up on, so it comes to no surprise when they lean back in again to share another passionate kiss.

((Author’s Note: I AM SO SORRY THAT THIS TOOK SO LONG!! I hope the chapter makes up for the fact that it took such a long time to write/post it! I hope you guys like it!!))
Remus walked into Black and White carrying two coffee cups from work, his knuckles turning white from the tightness of his grip. He was terrified, to say the least. This would be his first time seeing Sirius since their evening at the cafe, and Remus wasn't entirely sure if his presence was desired.
"Uh… Sirius? M— Mr. Black? Are… are you here?"
Of course he was there. Sirius ran the gallery himself. If he wasn't there, the door wouldn't be unlocked. Remus felt stupid asking his question aloud, but the response he got put him at ease.
"Yeah, I'm here, Remus. I'll be right out."
Remus.
So they were still on a first name basis. That was a good sign.
It took a moment, but Sirius eventually emerged from his back office, looking rather worse for wear. His hair was left loose around his shoulders, dark inky tresses spilling over his unbuttoned collar. He looked tired; more tired than Remus felt. More tired than he had ever looked before.
"I… uh… I brought coffee…"
"What are you doing here, Remus?"
The tone of Sirius' voice didn't sound harsh or accusatory; it was filled with exhaustion and melancholy, but it wasn't rude, which was a surprise.
"Oh…" Remus glanced down at the paper cups in his hands, as if his reason for being at the gallery was obvious. "I… brought coffee," he repeated. "Cappuccino, skim milk, sprinkle of cinnamon?"
Remus watched as a slow smile bloomed across Sirius' face, lighting him up, finally revealing a hint of the gallery owner that Remus had come to know the past few weeks. Sirius walked towards Remus, straightening his posture and brushing hair out of his eyes.
"How'd you know?"
Remus shrugged, offering Sirius a friendly grin.
"A little birdy told me."
Sirius rolled his eyes and graciously accepted Remus' peace offering. The artist watched as Sirius' shoulders visibly relaxed with the first sip of coffee, a hint of colour returning to his sallow cheeks. Sirius turned his gaze towards a painting on the wall, both hands grasping the cup, as if to absorb its warmth and energy.
"Well… remind me to thank her later."
"I'm fairly certain I brought the coffee here," Remus said, mostly joking. He took a sip from his own cup of tea, letting the spicy warmth from the chai trickle down and heat him up from the inside.
Sirius remained focused on the painting before him.
"Thank you, Remus. Not… not just for the coffee… but for coming. Here. I… appreciate it."
"Okay, who are you and what have you done with Sirius Black?" Remus teased, attempting to lighten the sudden weight of the situation, trying to deter the looming darkness that threatened its way into their thoughts.
Sirius didn't answer for a moment. He stood and stared at the painting, one of Lily's pieces by the looks of it, before finally giving Remus a response.
"This… this is the real Sirius Black."
Remus tore his eyes away from mercurial pools of despair, so deep and turbulent, the artist could drown in them if he wasn't careful. He directed his attention to the same painting, the same blues and greys of Sirius' eyes popping out from the canvas.
"Well…" Remus muttered to the painting, twisting his cup around between his fingers. "Hello Sirius Black. I'm— I'm Remus Lupin."
Remus heard a sharp exhale of breath beside him— almost a laugh, but not quite. At least he could help bring some levity into their conversation.
"So…" Sirius began, before taking another sip of coffee. "How much did she tell you?"
Remus pondered the question, trying to find an appropriate way of answering it.
"She… uh… mentioned your brother. And… and you and James. She explained why you left the cafe the other day, why you seemed so upset…"
Sirius closed his eyes and furrowed his brow. When he opened them, there was a hint of pain still etched into his features.
"And where does that leave us?"
Remus turned to look at Sirius, unsure what exactly the man was asking him.
"Wh— what do you mean?"
"Are you… still interested in showing here? Did you still want to… to work with me?"
"Of course." Remus' response was immediate. There was no question in his mind: Black and White was the gallery that Remus wanted his first show to be in. He wanted Sirius to run it, curate it, put the event together. He wanted Lily and James to be there. This was the gallery for him. "Why wouldn't I?"
Sirius' eyes drifted down to his coffee cup, his shoulders folding in on themselves ever so slightly.
"You're not worried that the erratic drunk is going to ruin things for you? Cause you too much trouble?"
"I— what?" Remus took a step towards Sirius; he considered reaching out, taking hold of the man, showing a sign of affection, but he thought better of it. Instead, he simply looked at Sirius, his voice measured, his posture firm. "None of those thoughts ever crossed my mind. I— I want to show here because you're passionate. You have drive. You're confident… you're— you're a good gallerist."
You're annoying as all hell, but you know what you want from life and you aren't afraid to go for it. Someone like me could learn a lot from someone like you. You're fascinating. An enigma. And I need to figure you out…
"And you push me to do better. I'm producing better art now than I ever have before. You have a keen eye and you give good direction."
Remus waited for Sirius to respond, but the man simply stared ahead at the painting before him. The silence loomed over them as Remus watched the ghost of the man he thought he knew slowly fading into nothingness.
It was a few minutes before Sirius eventually spoke, his voice echoing eerily across the empty gallery.
"You don't have to lie to me to make me feel better."
His words were soaked in bitterness, his expression crestfallen. He never once tore his gaze away from the painting.
Remus took a gulp of tea, weighing his next words very carefully.
"I don't lie." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before continuing. "You don't know me very well yet, but that's something you should remember for the future. I don't lie." Another pause, another sip of tea. "I had enough of that growing up, I don't need it in my life."
The slightest hint of a smile passed over Sirius' face.
"You also had a shitty family?
"I'm an artist," Remus mused with a dark chuckle, "Do you know any that don't?"
Sirius' smile grew as he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, one or two. But you make a valid point."
Remus brought his cup to his lips and tilted it back, draining the remaining contents and deliberating his words.
"So…" he began after a moment. "Where do we go from here?"
For the first time since the conversation started, Sirius shifted his focus, his eyes settling on Remus' frame silhouetted in the fading evening light.
"Where do you want it to go?"
Remus closed his eyes and pretended to take a sip from his drink, despite the fact that it was now empty. He needed time to think. Was Sirius talking about the gallery? Was Sirius asking about Remus' desire to show his art and work together in a professional setting? Or did the question go deeper than that?
Where did Remus want things to go?
"I…" Remus opened his eyes. He stared at Lily's painting, pretending not to see the way Sirius' gaze bore into him, pretending not to think about the swirling blues and greys, the perfection of colour, they way they shifted with each emotion. "I want to make sure that our show next month is your best one yet."
"Well then…" Sirius said softly, his voice relaxing, his tone sounding more and more familiar to Remus. "We'd better get to work. There's only a few weeks left…"
Remus turned to look at Sirius and felt his cheeks flush at the smile playing on the gallery owner's lips. The artist quickly looked down at the paper cup twisting between his fingers, trying not to read into the situation any more than necessary.
"I'd better get home then…" Remus told his cup, trying to keep his voice steady and desperately willing his cheeks to stop feeling so warm. "I still have two more pieces to paint…"
"Yes, well…" Sirius muttered. From the corner of his eye, Remus could see the gallery owner shifting his weight from foot to foot. "I'll be in touch. I'd love to see your progress if— if that's okay…?"
Since when did Sirius ask for things instead of demanding them?
"Sure, yeah… that sounds… good. I'll… see you around, Sirius."
Remus glanced up and smiled, immediately regretting his decision. The look on Sirius' face was tender, affectionate. Somehow, he looked even more handsome like this. Remus hated it.
The artist shoved his hand forward, offering it for a shake. Sirius hesitated before reaching out and grasping Remus' hand firmly. The two men had shaken hands a dozen times at this point; there was something frustratingly different about this one, and it lingered a beat too long.
Remus pulled his hand away and spun on his heels before Sirius could stop him.
"I'll see you around, Sirius!" He called over his shoulder before making a beeline to the door.
"Oh… okay… T— Thank you, Remus. For… for everything!"
Before he knew what was happening, Remus was outside in the crisp autumn air, trying not to think about the way Sirius' perfect lips wrapped so delicately around his name or how badly Remus wanted to find out what those lips tasted like.
What was wrong with him?
((Bonus: Here’s a sketch that I did in a limited palette of this scene. Yes, I know there are inaccuracies, it was a quick sketch and I didn’t read the chapter before drawing it. Oops! Anyway, here it is!))
