intention is more important than action (morally) and also characters are defined by their central motivation (tenten is allowed to do whatever she wants forever because she conforms to the fundamentals of the narrative by wanting to be shinobi over anything else) so in order to understand a character through the narrative's eyes you have to know what their driving motivation is.

nohara rin doesn't exist because her two driving motivations are wanting to be known and wanting to be unknown which obviously conflict and cancel each other out. narratively. one could say that she doesn't want anything. the nohara rin presented by the narrative is the ideal woman, so i think it's fair to say that the ideal feminine motivation is not wanting anything. through tenten we understand that the ideal masculine motivation is wanting to be a shinobi. but being a man is better than being a woman so tenten is allowed to be manly in that way. deidara also fights for the sake of fighting but he's not affiliated with konoha so that's worse on some level to the narrative i think. but he still kind of breaks things.

u can do anything with loop… we only know how they act in two extremely specific contexts, outside of that loop could be so many different things…. thats why my modern au loop is Like That (has “everyone else is an npc” brain bc it’s the only way they could cope with not being able to help the people getting hurt around them. it’s just their role in the story, it’s impossible to change the script and it doesn’t matter anyway bc they’re not real! loop and their headmates are the only real people with real thoughts and feelings in the entire world ^^)

Listen man– I know the whole "formality / casual speech" thing and "familiarity / first names" thing in Japanese can be a bit hard to localize sometimes, but these translations decided to resolve that issue by having Sakura call Syaoran "bestie" instead and it took me out by the frickin kneecaps
