Good news, I quit instagram. If there’s any art to be posted from me it’ll probably be here but idk.
Anyhow. More OC stuff! In middle school I had this slice of life novel series I was working on. It was obviously awful but to my credit I got like five hundred pages in before hitting a block and quitting. Really traumatizing my poor cheap school-issued laptop with those file sizes.
Terena and her brother Milan (last image) originally existed as side characters in book 2 of this series, with mainly Terena outshining my main cast due to my obsession with her. Once I stopped writing I unceremoniously took all these OCs and dropped them into my adjacent fantasy/sci-fi symphonic metal songfic universe with Terena at the forefront. As you do when you’re thirteen. I dropped that too after a while, just making general music fanart through high school.
My first year of college I dug up 2nd-iteration Terena, and rewrote her origin story with Milan included as a school project. Everything here is prep work for that from 2023. I’ve been thinking about it a lot and want to resurrect a few more of the characters for the hell of it. TBC.

Okay my crack theory for Lucy’s god situation:
What if instead of dying Lucy’s god became an archfey and fucked off, forsaking all of their followers. I could see that as justifiable for a minor god—maybe you don’t want your personality and existence to be dependent on a group of people small enough for a really big hurricane to wipe them out. Maybe you want to try your hand at self actualization, which you can’t really do as a god. Whatever.
But that would still mean Lucy’s grades would be screwed for the year, and the whole group would be switched to pass/fail.
Whatever god they’re trying to bring back seems like they want to stay a god, but would also only have a single living cleric so their nature would be heavily influenced by who that cleric is, and could still be controlled. Bringing back an established dead god with living followers probably reduces the risk of the god immediately dying or completely sucking ass/not being powerful like what happened with YES!(?), and we know the Ratgrinders LOVE minimizing risk. And choosing a dead god that represents something Lucy is actually passionate about preaching and proselytizing would make her work as a cleric much easier for her emotionally than, say, switching to Helio and just going through the motions, and bringing back a god would probably look good on college resumes.
Idk, that’s just an alternative theory to Lucy’s god dying based on what’s been established this season.
#fantasy high#the ratgrinders#ratgrinders#fantasy high junior year#fhjy#fhjy spoilers#d20 fantasy high#dimension 20#this is an idea I came up with while basically writing fanfiction in my head about a possible route Ivy’s story could go#that would make the ragtringers not evil / kind of justified#basically my ‘what if’ plot line is that Ivy’s god forsakes her during the sophomore spring project and that leads to her loosing her power#and the ratgrinders having to choose a pacifistic quest to go on because they no longer have a healer but can’t tell anybody#hence why they didn’t kill anything during their sophomore quest but seemingly still passed with a letter grade#(we know Ivy’s death was only reported after grading was completed—which means they wouldn’t have been switched to pass/fail)#Now Ivy is thinking about what grade to switch to before the end of the year so she doesn’t fail#all while covering up her god forsook her to the school until she has her replacement figured out#but WHOOPS something happens and she dies anyway…but with no afterlife she’s stuck as a ghost. The ratgrinders will all fail if they report#her dead right then-and Ivy doesn’t want that for her friends-so instead the ratgrinders disguise self as her and fake her cleric powers#with their own in class just enough to keep her from failing the year…then after grading closes they report her as dead to Augfort and ask#for his help in reviving her like he did the bad kids. But he tells them that he brought the bad kids back by taking their place in#the afterlife; if Ivy’s stuck as a ghost and not in an afterlife than there’s nothing he can do right now but he’ll look into it oh wait#his DAUGHTER is back and they need to bond nevermind here are some resources during this endless night that you can read up on to try to#find a way to bring your dead friend back on your own have FUN high schoolers I believe in you but it’s Ayda time!#so the ratgrinders did a bunch of research on their own and they found that a god could bring her back to life and the only one willing to#do that would probably be a preestablished dead god they brought back to life (similar to Kristen with Cassandra). This red god is just#the safest bet they found in the books to complete their plan#I won’t call all THAT a theory because it’s based on nothing but that’s my idea for a direction her backstory could go#also pretend whenever I wrote ‘ivy’ in this little end section I actually wrote Lucy#I canNOT believe I made that mistake#Cassandra save me

Anyways, to those who have been wondering what we've been doing during our impromptu Tumblr Vacation or whatever we're calling it, we've been trying to find a playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 that is made by someone who doesn't annoy the shit out of us, and also tormenting Karlach Cliffgate (as you do)
#we speak#also sleeping. we have slept a lot. being in a school environment is exhausting.#its very hard to remember how much we generally enjoy learning when the environment itself is. that#but on the plus side our shittiest possible 40-minute 1k word essay with eight trillion loose lines we Could have connected#was apparently impressive enough that the people who were meant to be assessing it for If We Could Take The Course#as a preliminary instead just forwarded it as a formal application and it got through#we know we are better at writing and deconstructing that writing than most. however.#christ man there were like a dozen cracks in that essay reasoning and a trillion threads we left dangling#we know that directing you to see what the narrative is focusing on and nothing else is a skill we're good at#but like. this is like if we just shucked a pelt off with no processing and showed it to you. its not even scraped yet.#there are little bits of metaphorical fat and gristle all over the underside of this. you can feel them when picking it up.#we lost the plot of the original prompt halfway through to argue about anthrocentrism. it's messy work.#like its decent prose and if we polished it a bit it could probably be decent within the constraints but it's a 40 minute prompt and sloppy#we tabbed out of the test tab and started writing pokemon fanfiction instead of polishing it. and you think it's impressive?#we know we've spent like more than ten years writing and have read a lot even before that we just forget people have such low standards#...god hopefully this doesnt read as bragging. we are having the experience of like#we get out of the most physically and mentally fatiguing experience we've had for like Years after doing the Bare Minimum to not die#we have been outputting work that is sloppy and we are fully aware of it because we are too tired to put full effort into schoolwork#and we are still getting like. “oh wow this is so good youre so good at making things”#like man. we can do better than this. teacher was like “wow youd be a great script writer” we are good at dialogue but better at descriptio#and we weight. a lot of our capacity for dialogue. in our ability to have cues human people do not have. this will not work well on-screen#also that industry is one of the Many Many Industries that are super mega fucked up rn#and we do not work well with constantly changing expectations#we hope this is a fun glimpse into our current life btw we are finally on break and god. this is great. we can sleep now.

yeah yknow while i dont think portable ops serves that well a bridge between even mgs3 & peacewalker much less mgs3 & mgs4 I do think giving players more time w/ zero, paramedic, sigint, and even campbell to an extent was a good call given their increased importance to the story in 4 yknow, kind of give more of the hints to the roles they would play it wouldve been a bit jarring if they just had the 1 game that doesnt really hint towards any of thi[looks at the execution of the mgs1/2 casts inclusion] ah shit

also like. man. i liked it when characters in this show had scenes dedicated to them and their lives and not how they related to shauna shipman
#im mostly thinking about simone and sammy tbh. what a dropped ball#i joke about misty being the moral core in lieu of nat but truly we had someone right there who was a contrast to the YJs#and like. is a good parent LOL. did the right thing for her child. shows up literally once this season#while the woman she’s legally married to is off gallivanting somewhere#kind of wish we got to see how she’s like. doing. if my wife crashed our car then cheated on me#while i was in a coma in the hospital#i’m flipping my shit in ways never before seen.#the devolution of tai’s family life was a good contrast to the other three teammates we focused on initially!#I think it would make sense to bring at least some of it back especially with dark/main taissa’s struggles for control#but all of that would require the writers to remember she did in fact have a life before van in the adult TL#(this is not me being against taivan. LOVE taivan. but there’s a lot to chew on with the loose threads of everything from the first season#that’s just completely ignored even when it could be plot/character relevant)#also like. they were totally setting up quasi supernatural stuff with sammy in s1#again. what a great parallel and through line to the stuff with callie. can they break the cycle? are their children as doomed as they are?

tell us about your why you were sleeping au! specifically why that movie?
Hi! thank you so much for asking 🥰
There were a couple of reasons why i was drawn to that movie for these particular characters, and I think the first was the complicated and frustrating but still loving sibling relationship. I think the first thing where I recognized like, the seed of a story, is that scene where bill pullman sits in his brother's hospital room and is like I loved you and I was proud of you and I never envied you until now. I actually think my version is a lot sadder and more serious in tone than the movie is just because the idea of your sibling being in a coma is so painful to me i can't keep that from leaking into the writing, even when the premise promises romcom shenanigans sorry guys
The second thing that I found really moving about while you were sleeping was sandra bullock's portrayal of this very lonely woman. Idk how to explain it but I loved the way that her loneliness is depicted it's my favorite part of the movie! I particularly latched on to the idea that she observes these strangers on the train every day and really genuinely loves them because she's so lonely. Which leads me to the last thing I wanted to pull from the movie, which is the trains. I love the subway and i was so inspired and excited to sort of take that imagery and run with it--there's wayyy more trains in my version than the movie haha
#one thing that my version doesn't really have in the same way as the original is this idea of being adopted into someone elses family#just because the boys have SUCH A MESSY FAMILY you want to be like girl run!#but i do love that idea of expanding your family/gaining a family so i tried to introduce that with some of the teenage plot line#because it matters so much to me#honestly this is much more of a remix than a retelling or adaptation. it's very loose and everything has been shuffled up#but i think the siblings the loneliness and the trains are whats still there#oh yea and the coma. thats still there too!#while you were sleeping au#wip tag game!

I was extremely disappointed with the ending of succession goddamn. And to be clear, my disappointment is so great because the show was so great. It just stopped? Just as it was getting incredible? Auaghrg, ooowgh, betrayal
#succession#i mean it wasn't ruined like GOT#but it just didn't conclude at all#it literally only resolved one plot line i.e. gojo#which was a relatively new plot anyway#we got to see kendal loose his shit which was cool#like what happened to the presidency? social unrest?#all that happenes is roman gets a boo boo?#i was much more invested in that#we didnt get a conclusion with jerry and roman#we didnt get one with shiv and tom#no greg conclusion#no conner ending#the only one that was interesting was kendal being a tyrant for like 2 second but i wanted to see how he would take losing everything
