I don’t if everyone else saw, but Jakei recently made an announcement discontinuing Underverse due to harassment in the fandom.

I’ve been saying this. Harassment in the utmv fandom is genuinely such a serious problem. I wish her nothing but the best.

Get a hobby. A shitty cream comic made eight years ago is not a problem.

I am never going to leave this fandom or stop writing tcoti no matter how many lists I’m put on or even if I get a million people telling me to quit. I love these characters, and I love making friends and being kind and changing people’s lives for the better, even with something as silly as a self Indulgent story like this.

TCOTI ends when I die. I will always love these characters. I hope jakei gets to relax.

The relationship I've written between Dream and Nightmare is complex, and i need to talk about them right now or else i will blow up violently.

Dream loves his brother so much and knows that the corrupted version of his brother STILL IS his brother, but its a corrupt version - a bad version. Dream wants to find a way to reconnect, to get what he had in the past back, to find a way to bring nightmare back to the person he once was so they can have a loving sibling relationship again because that is his fucking brother and he knows him and he knows WHY nightmare turned into this in the first place and doesn't fault him for it. But he wants his brother back.

But WITH THIS MINDSET, HE UNKNOWINGLY KEEPS FURTHERING THEIR CHANCES OF EVER REUNITING BECAUSE HES SO FIXATED ON MAKING HIS BROTHER "BETTER" HE DOESN'T TRY TO LOVE HIS BROTHER AS HE IS NOW

Nightmare is never going to change back into who he used to be, the scars run too deep and the wounds are still bleeding. He cannot ever go back to what he used to be, and he doesn't want to, but some deep part misses not the village and the life he lived, but his brother. and he knows in his heart that his brother will never love him as he is now because he sees Dream as obstinate and selfish, furthering HIS chance of ever meeting Dream in the middle as well. They both stand at opposite ends of the field and expect the other to come over to their side, knowing that neither of them will ever move.

NOT TO MENTION It's not even a matter of obstinance from both of them, Nightmare is literally committing atrocious acts due to his shifted moral compass and reliance on negativity to feed his power. Dream doesn't even blame him for this, he blames it on the corruption, as if that is not one in the same with his brother at this point. Dream feels like even if he did take that first step, it is so violently against his own moral compass to side with or support things that hurt other people, he cannot in good faith make any attempt to try and defend or support Nightmare in literally anything. Nightmare knows who he is and what he has become and has accepted it. It's like the Zootopia thing with Nick Wilde - if the whole world will never see you as anything but a villain then there's no point in being anything else if you are not even given a chance to be better. You might as well just get really really good at being evil. And because Dream nearly keeps fucking killing himself trying to help people and is completely sacrificing his own wellbeing to keep others untroubled and happy, they are both on such extreme opposites of the morality spectrum that it would be nearly impossible for them to meet in the middle.

Dream wants Nightmare to go back to the person he used to be (he cant)

Nightmare wants Dream to love him despite his current morals (he cant)

The never-ending cycle of reaching and never finding anything because the goal post keeps moving, trying to reach you back as you chase after it, in circles
