The Loretto Chapel "Miraculous Stair" in New Mexico. It was mysteriously built in the 1850s without the use of nails or glue and lacks a central pole or external supports. It remains a marvel to woodworkers and carpenters for seemingly defying physics, while today certainly replicateable, it stands a monolith of cutting edge design considering its time period.

Amid collapsing biodiversity worldwide, Mary Reynolds of Ireland is building a movement to turn gardeners into guardians of the planet by returning our own patch of land to nature, and by restoring hope that individual action can create lasting change.
As agricultural practices consume more land, and contribute to habitat losses globally, Mary stresses the importance of taking action on an individual basis. Nowhere is that easier to do than with your own land, by creating an ARK – Acts of Restorative Kindness. Mary reveals how to create one quickly and to let nature reap the rewards, something seen first-hand by former farmer-turned-nature preservationists Anita and Will Wheeler, who now host a plethora of native animals that thrive on their ARK.
The movement is growing, as Mary reaches a global community who want to rid themselves of the pristine expectations that gardens demand and bring in more life. It’s even taking root with younger generations. A visit to the Loreto school in Wexford County proves how even a small patch of land can not only restore a native community of plants, but also become a safe haven for students. “Patch by patch, we’ll get there” - Mary assures, “make a patchwork quilt of hope.”

Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta
1910-1997
Feast Day: September 5
Patronage: World Youth Day, the sick and dying, the lonely, the unborn
Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa left home at age 18 to join the Sisters of Loreto as a missionary. She took her solemn vows on 14 May 1937, while serving as a teacher at the Loreto convent school in Entally, eastern Calcutta. She began her missionary work with the poor in 1948, joined by a group of young women, and laid the foundations to create a new religious community helping the "poorest of the poor". At the time of her death, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity had over 4,000 sisters, and an associated brotherhood of 300 members, operating 610 missions in 123 countries. Mother Teresa was the recipient of numerous honors including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.

Future Ghost Chapter 4
Danny's heart hammered as he stepped into the mess hall, a makeshift casino for the night's festivities. Laughter and clinking chips filled the air, mingling with the savory scent of replicated snacks.
Scanning the room, Danny's gaze landed on Daryl McDonnell. The sight of the older man's easy smile calmed his jittery nerves; being around him gave him a sense of safety.
The ensigns were already gathered, their voices mixing with the lieutenants' laughter from across the room. His heart sank when he spotted Walton leaning against the far wall, arms crossed, staring right at him.
A knot formed in Danny's stomach. Weston, with his piercing questions and unsettling intuition, was the last person he wanted to encounter tonight.
"Man," Danny muttered under his breath, "Of all the nights for him to show up..."
Danny turned to slip back out the door, but a strong hand clamped down on his shoulder.
"And just where do you think you're going?" Lieutenant Nadine Patterson spun Danny around, flashing a grin as she pulled him into a headlock. Her knuckles ground against his scalp.
"Ow, hey!" Danny flailed, the emotions pouring off Nadine like sunlight feeding the wisp in his core.
"Can't chicken out now." She laughed. "I plan on taking all your credits tonight!"
With a shove, she pushed him towards the ensigns. Danny steadied himself, straightening his uniform. His palms grew slick.
Just act normal. You're one of them. Eighteen. Not a freak.
"Let me introduce you to the gang." Nadine slung an arm around his shoulders.
Nadine points to the group of ensigns, “Hey guys, this is Danny Fenton from engineering. Danny, this is Pavel Chekov, Tina Lawton, she’s a yeoman third class, Luke McCann from the science department, Albert Bray, he’s in the weapons department,” Nadine listed off, and lastly, she pointed to an Andorian girl, “And lastly, Kas from med bay.” With that, Nadia gives Danny a friendly push and tells him to have fun. Danny blushed, feeling like this was the first day of school and he was the awkward new kid trying to fit in.
The ensigns look at him with curiosity plain on their faces. Danny met Tina Lawton's narrowed eyes and had to glance away. Don't let her ask about the Academy. Please don't let her ask—
"Hi!" Kas Th'qaakress bounded over, antennae bobbing.
Before he could respond, she plowed ahead with questions about his favorite foods, pastimes, and interests. Danny's tongue tripped over half-formed replies. She spoke a mile a minute, like a squirrel on caffeine.
"Do you play any immersion games? I love this one called OtherWorlds!" Her black eyes shone. "We should squad up sometime!"
"Yeah, totally!" Danny smiled, relaxing slightly. Video games, he could talk about. "Is it open universe or story-driven?"
As Kas launched into explaining the game mechanics, Danny let himself enjoy the moment. For now, at least, he could pretend he belonged here.
"Alright, folks!" Daryl announced, clapping his hands together. "Let's see who's got the best poker face tonight." He winked at Danny.
Danny took a seat between Daryl and Kas, feeling a little more at ease. As the poker game began, he focused on seeming as normal and fitting in with the other ensigns as much as possible.
Daryl leaned over to him and introduced each of the other Lieutenants he hadn’t met. There was Abigail Hodges, a junior doctor from medical; Lieutenant Loreto Nunez from the science department; Lieutenant Walton Weston, whom he did know, sensed they were roommates; and lastly, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu.
Daryl dealt the cards with an easy smile. "Hope you all brought your A-game tonight."
Danny glanced at his hand, two pairs. Not bad. He tossed a few chips into the pot, keeping his expression neutral. Across from him, Nadine raised the bet with a confident grin. Danny sensed a flare of excitement from her. A bluff, then.
When it came around to Danny again, he saw her eagerness. She wanted him to fold. With a shrug, he matched her raise. "I'll call."
Nadine's excitement soured to annoyance. She flipped over a busted hand.
Danny allowed himself a small smile as he raked in the pot. Time and again, he picked up on the subtle cues - a flutter of nerves here, a swell of confidence there. His empathy gave him an edge, allowing him to read the other players.
After winning a few big pots, Danny noticed the ensigns watching him with new interest.
"Beginner's luck?" Tina eyed him across the table.
He gave a nonchalant shrug. "Guess I'm just feeling it tonight."
*Keep it cool, Fenton. You've got this. *
Danny was feeling pretty good about himself until he got a little too cocky.
"I raise," he declared, throwing a large stack of chips into the pot. He had nothing in his hand but figured he could bluff his way through.
Walton raised his eyebrows. "That's quite the bet. You must be holding something good."
"Maybe I am," Danny said with false bravado.
Walton studied him a moment before calling. "Alright, let's see what you've got."
With a sinking feeling, Danny flipped over his cards - a two of hearts and a seven of clubs. Absolute garbage.
Walton chuckled and revealed his straight. "Well, well, looks like someone got caught bluffing."
"Say, Danny," Walton leaned forward, regarding him intently. " Where'd you learn to play poker so well anyway?"
Danny's mind raced. "Oh, uh...my dad taught me. Family game nights and all that."
It was a lame excuse, but he couldn't exactly say he learned in the 21st century.
Walton's eyes narrowed like he could sense Danny's half-truth.
“Where exactly did you say you were from? I don’t think I ever caught where?” Walton asked, digging for something.
“Uh…... I guess I didn’t.” Danny winced as he tried to remember what he put in his file, he couldn’t remember if he stuck with his home state or not. “Um, it’s a small town on earth; you probably never heard of it.” Danny mentally patted himself on the back, nailed it!
Walton gave him a sideways glance, then moved on to his next question. Tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Let's see... do you remember headlined the last Starfleet Day concert? “I’m sure that’s all the rage with you, young ensigns.”
"Um..." Danny stalled, racking his brain for any snippet of information that might save him from this social quagmire. "Wasn't it... uh... that one group... with the catchy tune about space travel?"
"Vague much?" Walton smirked, leaning forward. "And here I thought every young ensign would be up to date on the latest hits."
"Guess I missed that memo," Danny replied, feeling the weight of Walton's gaze like a tractor beam. "Music isn't really my thing."
"Really?" Walton pressed on, undeterred by Danny's attempt to divert the conversation. "Well, how about this: which holonovel series is currently topping the entertainment charts?"
"Ah..." Danny hesitated again, his heart racing. His mind scrambled through conversations he'd overheard, looking for any lifeline. "The... Galactic Guardians saga?"
"Close, but no," Walton said with a raised eyebrow, a hint of triumph in his voice. "That was last year's craze. Keeping up with the times isn't your strong suit, is it?"
"Looks like I've been too busy studying warp theory and not enough on pop culture," Danny shot back with a forced chuckle, hoping to deflect further interrogation.
"Sure, sure," Walton said, his tone light but his eyes sharp.
"Alright, Walton, that's enough," Daryl said firmly, his hand resting protectively on Danny's shoulder. The younger man had unconsciously edged closer to Daryl, seeking an ally. "The kid's here to play cards, not play twenty questions."
"Sure, sure," Walton grumbled, finally relenting as he tossed his cards onto the table. "Just getting to know my dear roommate."
"Let's just enjoy the game, okay?" Daryl added with a conciliatory smile, trying to dissolve the tension that had coiled around the table.
The rest of the evening passed with the clink of chips and the occasional quiet conversation until the final hand was played. One by one, the ensigns stood up, offering their goodnights before heading out.
"I should probably get going, too," Danny mumbled, pushing back his chair.
"See you around, Danny," Nadine gave him a playful salute.
"Thanks for inviting me," Danny said to Daryl. "I had fun."
"No problem, kid," Daryl said warmly. "See you tomorrow."
Danny waved goodbye to the others and slipped out.
Leaving only the lieutenants in the dimly lit mess hall.
"So, whats up with the new guy?" Sulu asked, sipping his drink.
"Oh, he seems sweet!" Abigail said. "A little shy, maybe."
Nadine chuckled, stacking her chips neatly. "There was this rumor floating around in engineering that he's a kid prodigy who hacked his way into Starfleet, but medical cleared him, so..."
"Medical records can be forged," Sulu pointed out, leaning back in his chair with a thoughtful look.
Abigail bristled slightly at the implication. "I'd hope my department would catch something like that," she said defensively, then sighed. "But he does look awfully young. I'll have a chat with Janet; she did his physical or that’s what his files says."
"Or," Walton interjected, "he could be an alien with psionic abilities." His voice carried a note of seriousness that drew skeptical looks from around the table.
"Come on, Walton," Daryl scoffed. "That's reaching even for you."
"Explain the flickering lights during his nightmares, then," Walton retorted, undeterred.
"Faulty wiring?" Nadine suggested with a smirk.
"Doesn't happen when he sleeps peacefully," Walton insisted, stubborn as ever.
"Nightmares, huh?" Nadine mused, her expression softening. "Do you comfort him?"
"Of course not!" Walton scoffed, crossing his arms.
"Watch it, Walton," Daryl warned, shaking his head. "You're sounding like he's some sort of ticking time bomb. Like another Charlie Evans situation."
"Maybe he is," Walton snapped, anger flaring in his eyes. "And maybe you're too biased to see it, what with him following you around like a lost puppy."
"Hey," Daryl laughed, the tension breaking slightly. "If he does have some crazy powers, at least I'm safe from getting zapped, right?"
The group erupted into light-hearted laughter, though Walton's scowl remained fixed.
"Okay, but what about that energy signature on away missions?" Walton persisted, tapping his pad where lines of data scrolled endlessly. "Every time Danny's with the team, survival rates spike."
"Seriously, Walton, your energy signature talk is getting old," Loreto remarked, his brow furrowed in disapproval.
Walton leaned forward, his hands clasped tightly together on the table. "But don't you see? The fatality rates drop when he's there, it's literally zero, and nobody dies. It can't all be coincidence."
"Correlation isn't causation," Sulu countered, leaning back in his chair and regarding Walton with a measured gaze. "You know better than to jump to conclusions without a proper comparative analysis."
Abigail clenched her jaw, irritation flashing in her eyes. "Have you been risking a kid's life just to prove your theory? We rotate those missions for a reason, Walton."
"Alright, enough," Daryl interjected firmly, his protective streak surfacing. "If I hear you're singling him out for missions again, I'll report it myself."
Nadine tilted her head thoughtfully. "But if Danny is somehow tied to that energy signature, maybe he's been keeping us safe." She chuckled softly. "An invisible force shoved me from a phaser blast last mission. If it was him, I owe the kid thanks."
"Same here,"  lieutenant Loreto chimed in. "Something pulled me back just before a cave-in."
"See? It all started when Fenton came aboard," Walton said, frustration evident in his tone.
"Coincidence or not," Sulu interjected, raising an eyebrow, "you'll need a better data set. Comparing missions with and without Danny would be more conclusive. But also, you need better evidence; you’re lacking it."
"Or he might just be a kid with a tough past who needs friends," Daryl countered calmly. “You’re just full of shit Walton.”
"Easy for you to say," Walton snapped, pointing an accusing finger at Daryl. "You didn't get your face wiped by that uncontrolled brat of a child, Evans. You’d be suspicious, too. Something's not adding up with that kid; mark my words.”
Daryl scoffed at him. “Is that something you’re willing to bet on? I’ll bet you’re wrong, the kids' harmless.”
“You’re on!”
The others chuckled, poking more holes in Walton's theory and adding their own theories and bets to the pot.
*******
Danny let out a sigh of relief as he put some distance between himself and the senior officers.
As he rounded a corner, he nearly collided with Yeoman Lawton.
"Whoa, sorry about that," Danny said, stopping short.
Tina gave him a small smile. "No worries. Escaping the inquisition?"
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, something like that. Walton was really grilling me back there."
"Don't take it personally. He interrogates all the newbies." Tina fell into step beside Danny as they walked down the corridor. "I know I gave you a hard time, too, but it's only because the last strange boy I met on this ship didn't exactly end well for me."
Danny's eyes widened. "What happened?"
"Let's just say I have an intense distrust of anyone with psionic abilities now," Tina said darkly. "He turned me into a lizard."
"No way!" Danny gasped.
"Yep, no fun at all," Tina chuckled, punching his arm playfully. "So don't get any ideas, mister."
Danny held up his hands innocently. "Wouldn't dream of it. Though I gotta ask...how was being a lizard?"
"Rude!" Tina laughed. She paused, glancing sideways at him. "Honestly, I don't remember much. But crazy stuff happens out here. We see all kinds of psychic abilities."
"Oh, well, I definitely don't have anything like that," Danny said quickly. "No psychic powers whatsoever."
Tina studied him for a moment before nodding. "I believe you. And I'm sorry for being so suspicious earlier. This ship has seen some crazy things. It makes you wary."
"Hey, no judgment here. I get it." Danny gave her a friendly smile, relieved she seemed willing to give him another chance.
Danny's heart sped up. "Um, what do you think about people with powers?"
Tina shrugged. "I don't judge as long as they're not hurting people. Powers don't change who someone is inside."
Relief flooded Danny. "Yeah, that makes sense."
They stopped outside Danny's quarters. "Well, this is me. But we should hang out sometime when we're both off duty," Danny suggested hopefully. Making friends his own age might make this whole being in another time easier. He tried to ignore the thoughts of his friends Sam and Tucker back home. He missed them terribly.
"I'd like that," Tina agreed. She pulled out a data pad and handed it to Danny. "Put your comm code in. I'll ping you later."
Danny eagerly typed in his information, new warmth spreading through him. For the first time since coming to this century, he felt like he was starting to find his place.

Education in the Peruvian Jungle: Challenges and Resilience in the Amazon
Tumblr media
Deep within the lush, vibrant landscapes of the Peruvian Amazon lies a world often overlooked in national education policy: the schools of the jungle. Stretching across regions like Loreto, Ucayali, San Martín, and Madre de Dios, the Amazonian education system is marked by unique characteristics shaped by geography, culture, and social realities.
Characteristics
Tumblr media
Geographic Isolation: Many jungle communities are only accessible by river or unpaved roads, making regular school attendance a logistical challenge. In some areas, students travel for hours by boat to reach a school — or even live in boarding houses during the academic year.
Multicultural and Multilingual Classrooms: The Amazon is home to dozens of Indigenous groups, each with its own language and traditions. As a result, many schools adopt bilingual intercultural education, teaching in both Spanish and native languages such as Asháninka, Shipibo-Conibo, or Awajún. These classrooms aim not only to educate but to preserve cultural identity.
Limited Infrastructure: Schools in the jungle often suffer from inadequate facilities — leaky roofs, lack of electricity, or no internet access. Educational resources are scarce, and many teachers work with outdated materials or none at all. Technology, where it exists, is minimal and often unreliable.
Teacher Shortage and Mobility: Due to difficult living conditions and remote locations, attracting and retaining qualified teachers is a constant struggle. Many educators are assigned to multigrade classrooms, teaching several levels simultaneously, often without specialized training.
Community Involvement: Despite the challenges, jungle communities are highly involved in education. Parents, local leaders, and even students play active roles in school life — from maintaining facilities to shaping curriculum in culturally appropriate ways.

Ask game (I'm very curious so I chose quite a few questions feel free to ask the ones you wish)!!
For Gavriel-Loreto: 6, 13, 14 and 21.
For Eli-Iria: 3, 6, 13 and 18.
Thanks :3
Very very thankful for the questions and the interest <3 I just chose two of each (the ones i could give better answers to) so this doesn't end up looking like the bible
As per usual, answers under the cut, I have a lot more information about them all but they don't really fit with the questions so I hope this answers are okay :]
Gavriel - Loreto
6 - Do they have any shared interests/hobbies? Do they ever do these hobbies together?
Not really. Loreto spends most of her time working and when she’s at home they just do the usual activities of people who live together: house chores and having conversations, neither of those classify as hobbies I believe. She will encourage and help Gavriel with his hobbies, like when she got him a camera, but they don’t share much.
13 - Do they have any disdain/contempt for each other? How do they show it?
They don’t, they actually appreaciate each other a lot even if they don’t say it. Gavriel is like the “perfect” brother whenever he’s alone with Loreto and the only thing she complains about is that he can act a bit childish sometimes, which she doesn’t like at all. Apart from that, they rarely have any arguments or trouble of the sorts. It is worth mentioning that they don’t have a perfect and overly friendly family relationship either and from the outside it could be described as a relationship of mutual respect, basically.
Elías - Iria
6 - Do they have any shared interests/hobbies? Do they ever do these hobbies together?
They did spend a lot of time together whenever they could and Elías was more than happy to participate in any activity that crossed Iria’s mind. One of Iria’s favorite interests is books and she insisted a lot on helping Eli in order to improve reading (he never went to school), so she could lend him some books and, also, so they could read together.
18 - Do they view their relationship as temporary or permanent?
Well, whatever their opinion is, it was definitely temporary. They haven’t seen each other ever since Elías left Iria’s house (he used to work for her family), and now, in the present time of the “story”, she’s just a memory rather than an actual person in his life.
Now, for Iria, she would have hoped for their relationship to be permanent and for Eli to stay in her life for as long as possible. In the contrary, Elías doesn’t view any relationship as permanent (and doesn’t allow himself to do so) even if he really wants them to be.
I need to clarify that they were not dating, they were bestfriends, just in case.

THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT JUNÍPERO SERRA The Apostle of California and the Father of All Missions Feast Day: July 1
"Always go forward and never go back."
Born at Petra, Majorca, Spain, November 24, 1713, a son of Antonio Nadal Serra and Margarita Rosa Ferrer who spent their lives as farmers, Junípero Serra was baptized on the same day at St. Peter's Church and was given the name Miguel José.
In Petra, Serra attended the primary school of the Franciscans. At 15-years-old, he was taken by his parents to Palma to be placed in the charge of a cathedral canon, and he began to assist at classes in philosophy held in the Franciscan monastery of San Francisco.
Junípero was admitted as a novice at the Convento de Jesús outside the walls of Palma on September 14, 1730, and made his profession on September 15, the following year. He chose the name Junípero in memory of the brother companion of St. Francis. He studied philosophy and theology at the Convento de San Francisco. The date of his ordination to the priesthood is not known, though it probably occurred during the Ember Days of December 1738.
Junípero obtained his doctorate in theology in 1742 from the Lullian University, Palma. He was called to the Scotistic chair of theology at the same university as primary professor in January 1749 to become an Indian missionary in America.
On April 13, 1749, with Francisco Palóu, Junípero sailed for America. He landed in Vera Cruz, Mexico on December 7, 1749.
Although horses were supplied for the friars, Junípero elected to walk the 250 miles between Vera Cruz and Mexico City. They reached San Fernando College on January 1, 1750, spending the previous night at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
In less than six months, an urgent call came for volunteers for the Sierra Gorda missions. Serra was among the volunteers. During his apostolate in Sierra Gorda with the Pame Indians between 1750 and 1758, Junípero not only oversaw construction of a church, which is still in use, but developed his mission in both religious and economic directions. Under his presidency of the missions from 1751 to 1754, the missionaries of the other four towns also built mission churches.
Junípero learned the Otomí language and used a visual method of teaching religion. Zealous in preaching and in promoting both liturgical and popular devotions, he succeeded in bringing the Pame people to practice the faith in an exemplary way. Economically his mission prospered through the introduction of domestic animals, the fostering of agriculture, and the development of commerce. He also defended Indian rights against non-native settlers in a protracted contest over the valley of Tancama. During building operations on his church, he worked as an ordinary day laborer.
He was then assigned to the college of San Fernando, where he arrived September 26, 1758. There he was made choir director, master of novices from 1761 to 1764, college counselor from 1758 to 1761, and a confessor. As a home missionary, Junípero preached missions in Mexico City, Mezquital, Zimapan, Río Vero, Puebla and Oaxaca. In 1767, he was appointed president of the ex-Jesuit missions of Baja California.
He set out in mid-July and reached Loreto on April 1. Junípero resided at the former Jesuit headquarters and assigned missionaries to the 15 missions between San José del Cabo in the south and Santa María in the north. Junípero enthusiastically volunteered in 1768 to join expeditions to Upper California. On March 28, 1769, Serra left the mission at Loreto on mule-back, arriving at San Diego on July 1. En route, he founded his first mission at San Fernando de Velicatá on May 14. Junípero kept a diary of his journey during which he suffered greatly from an infirmity in his legs and feet and had to be carried on a stretcher.
Junípero devoted the next 15 years of his life to evangelical work in Upper California.
During that period he founded nine missions:
San Diego: July 16, 1769
San Carlos and Monterey-Carmel: June 3, 1770
San Antonio: July 14, 1771
San Gabriel: September 8, 1771
San Luis Obispo: September 1, 1772
San Francisco: October 9, 1776
San Juan Capistrano: November 1, 1776
Santa Clara: January 12, 1777
San Buenaventura: March 31, 1782
He was present at the founding of Presidio Santa Barbara, April 12, 1782.
Junípero remained at San Diego until April 14, 1770, when he embarked for Monterey. From June 3, 1770, until his passing, he maintained his headquarters at Mission San Carlos.
Junípero died at Mission San Carlos, August 28, 1784, at the age of 70 and is buried in the floor of the sanctuary of the church he had built. By the end of 1784, Indian baptisms at the first nine missions reached the number 6,736, while 4,646 Christianized Indians were living in them.
Junípero was small of stature, five feet two inches in height. He had a sonorous voice, swarthy skin, dark hair and eyes. Though it appears that he had a fundamentally robust constitution, he suffered a great deal during the latter part of his life. His first affliction was the swelling and painful itching of his feet and legs from mosquito bites which caused varicose ulcers. At times he could neither stand nor walk. After 1758, he began to suffer from asthma.
In character, Junípero was eager, optimistic, zealous, dynamic, even adamantine. Primarily a man of action, he preferred the active apostolate to the classroom or to writing. He remained a model religious despite his distractions and activity — a man of prayer and mortification. He had a consuming love for his American converts. He fought for the freedom of the Church against royal infringement. Serra was considered by some too aggressive, zealous, and demanding. Though he defended the Indians, he had a paternalistic view and believed in and practiced corporal punishment.
The cause for Junípero Serra's beatification began in the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno in 1934, and the diocesan process was finished in 1949. On September 25, 1988, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II. Pope Francis canonized Junípero Serra on September 23, 2015 during a Mass in Washington, DC.

as a fenian, I can fully imagine a universe where the gang are all irish and fit into certain archetypes of modern irish society. walk w/ me here:
Dennis: Went to one of the “fancy” all-boys schools - a st.pats college probs. Maybe even something like gonzaga. Has a south dublin accent. Did a joint honours of psychology and - honestly? - food science i’d say. Used to wear polos and boat shoes every day, before he got closer w/ Mac and Charlie. ‘Happens’ to be in the pub when college night outs are happeneing so he can chat up girls.  Irish Names: Connor/Jack/Ryan (which i realise would make him ryan reynolds but move past it)
Dee: Went to loreto. Did psychology at Trinners. Used to constantly speak with an exaggerated D4 accent but now only uses it in certain schemes. Clings to her stuff she got in Brown Thomas on Grafton Street when she was a teenager. Says “ah here”. Claims girls are too much drama. Refuses to vape, only smokes cigs. Irish Names: Niamh/Orla/Caoimhe
Mac: Roadman definitely. Went to a Christian Brothers school along with Charlie. Puts on fake northsider accent but it’s really more neutral since his da’s from Sligo. Wears northsider fully black/grey fits. Pretends he likes vaping more than he actually does. Tells ppl he carries a shank around (doesn’t). Once clicked on a link saying he’d won a trip to Tenerife and got his facebook hacked. Irish Names: Finn (not fionn, finn), Johno, Danny
Charlie: Went to Christian Brothers with Mac. Got constantly in trouble at school for his shoes being wrong, his jumper being too tatty, not tucking in his shirt etc. Hangs around the ramparts looking for interesting trinkets and accidently got poked w/ a syringe in the process. Went swimming in a pothole once. Vapes. Does boyracing with Mac and Dennis in the empty supervalu carpark at night. Lives in one of those shabby Dublin flats that were built a bit too fast to be safe to live in. Irish Names: Oisín/Seán/Cillian
i’ll edit this later to include frank but i need some help thinking of his irish archetype so constructive advice would be welcomed

Chapter 1
I was never taught, nor have I ever experienced, that there was a good side to fear.I heard  about it in movies. You’d always hear the superhero say “once you overcome your fears life  starts.” But they didn’t know that the little girl watching grew up in a world where fear was a
constant feeling, a sense of survival, how you knew you were still alive and escaping fear was  how you stayed alive. I was always taught you felt fear and ran in the opposite direction. The  other side of fear always looked like getting home safe after walking home late at night. There
was a never a chance of overcoming fear, because fear was meant to be feared. There was no  empowerment or courageousness in fear. As far as I knows fear was that pit in your stomach  when you were walking home at night, or early in the morning to get to work, and overcoming  them looked like being able to put your keys in the door and opening it to your house. What was  so courageous and special about that? Well, After I left my Brooklyn block and got on a plane to  the west coat. Specifically to Loreto, Baja California. I understood what was special about fear.
You see all I knew growing up was 72nd Street and Bergen Court, or The Block, my  school,P.S.312, which was a few block away, and Originals Pizza, where I would get the penne  vodka slice and a lemon Snapple with my friend every day, which was also a few blocks away  but in the opposite direction. The Block to the naked eye was nothing special. Rows of attached  brick houses and my friends who lived in them, and the street which was our playground.  Whenever it was sunny out we would flood the street, and our parents, if they were home, would  watch out their windows as they cooked dinner after working all day. This was my world. There  was no fear here because I was familiar with this world. It was my block. There was nothing to  be feared here. Although we were sheltered in a way, we were still exposed to many cultures. My  friends were all from different places than me, but we all shared a similar background. That is,  our parents were working class people struggling to make ends meet. Leaving us while they’re at  work and so we had to fend for ourselves. Might sound scary to some, but when you’re  surrounded by 10 other kids going through the same thing. It was not scary at all. It was normal.  Although we had this commonality our ethnic backgrounds could paint a rainbow. Just to name a  few: Nasim was Puerto Rican and Moroccan, Shem was Jamaican, Gabby was Italian, and  Michael was Russian. And Me, my mom from Israel, but ancestors from Libya, and my Dad  from Puerto Rico. My grandma had the opposite experience than me. She was the first to leave  her home land, or how I always thought of it, her block. She was born in Tripoli, Libya, but when  she was 3, in 1947, she had to leave for Israel because of riots and killings against Jews. It was  the only place they knew would take in Arab Jews. So that was her new home, where she had  most of her childhood memories and where she had her 4 kids, and raised them until her oldest
was 16. But after about 20 years they all left to achieve the American Dream. So they all packed  up their bags and headed to their new new homeland, New York, and so my mom came here  from Israel when she was 5, the youngest of 4. As for my Dad, a bit of a distant relative, he was  born and raised in the Bronx, but my Abuelita from Puerto Rico. I’ve never been to any of these  places besides in my head when they would tell me about their trips to visit our families who  lived there, or when my curious mind wondered and would ask what it was like when my  grandma was growing up. “It was nothing but sand. Mountains and Mountains of red sand.” My  grandma illustrated for me in her broken english, talking about what Israel looked like when she  first got there. Her heavy accent and broken english added more color and character to these  mountains of sand. It always bothered me that I could not see what she saw when she told me her  stories. But when my time came to leave New York, I could not even imagine the weight that the  sight of something that wasn’t brick lined houses and pavement, would have on my chest once  my eyes got a taste of them. This sheltered life was beautiful. It was all I knew. I look back and  think fondly of it. But there was more to life waiting for me than these houses and streets that  saw me go through every stage of life. It was time to learn and grow, and my trip changed my  life in more ways than I thought it would. It taught me how to find myself in fear, and not lose  myself to the feeling, and what’s on the other side of it.

Translation of Silvano Mezzatesta's interview, animator at Rainbow (and many others)
Original video by 151g, transcription of the important Rainbow bits by Iku aka @ourflagmeanslight
Silvano Mezzatesta is an animator who has worked on such titles as Lupo Albert, Cocco Bill, Monster Allergy, La freccia azzurra, Lucky and Zorba (La gabbianella e il gatto), Aida of the Trees, Opopomoz, and even a few things at Rainbow.
"…the origin of the Winx is a clerical one…. […] the character designer was so convinced of the validity of his designs that they annoyed the entire Marche region and found, thanks in part to Iginio Straffi, the support of the curia, obtained funding, and made the characters expendable in merchandising. The Winx are what they are because of the Loreto curia, although they eventually disassociated themselves because of the clothing. The Winx were to be exploited to do sunday school catechism and things like that."
(translator's note: this catholic spiel may be about Lamberto Pigini, the character designer may be either Simone Borselli or Cristiana Magrini or someone else entirely)
"Straffi's wife is the real boss of Rainbow, if she quits Straffi will go out of business."
(translator's note: this is about Joanne Lee, producer at Rainbow)
"…they (animators) were so fed up with working on Winx making a terrible 3D that they thought of proposing to Straffi funding for an idea of their own, an in-house product, Gladiators of Rome (whose protagonist was to be an anti-hero). Straffi accepted but turned it into a school, wanted to include things like a pink bunny (which would relate back to Winx), cinepanettone jokes (translator's note: cinepanettoni are terrible christmas comedy movies in Italy aimed at boomers)"
-apparently the prop and environment studies for that film were very serious and professional, the animation team was not experienced so Mezzatesta and his team jumped through hoops to make the storyboards as complete as possible to make things easy for the animators-
"…in the end Straffi put his own spin on it, inserting things like Timo's horse farting, and the U.S. network that had financed the project demanded that specific elements be added for their market, like these three brats inserted as comic relief characters. (translator's note: Gladiators of Rome flopped even in Italy)"

Which is the Best CBSE School in Delhi for Girls?
Tumblr media
When it comes to choosing the right school for girls, the stakes are high. Parents seek not only academic excellence but also a safe, nurturing environment where their daughters can thrive intellectually, emotionally and socially. In a bustling metropolis like Delhi, finding the best CBSE school for girls can seem overwhelming due to the sheer number of reputed institutions.
While there are many distinguished all-girls schools in Delhi, Evergreen Public School (EPS) has emerged as a prominent choice for parents who value holistic development, academic strength, and progressive learning—all within a safe and inclusive co-educational environment.
Let’s explore what makes a school the best for girls and why Evergreen Public School is gaining recognition in this space.
What Makes a School Ideal for Girls?
Before naming the best CBSE school for girls, it is essential to define the qualities that make a school suitable:
Academic Excellence: Strong results in board examinations and competitive assessments.
Safety and Security: A secure campus with female-friendly infrastructure.
Co-curricular Opportunities: Platforms to explore dance, music, arts, debate and leadership.
Holistic Development: Balanced emphasis on emotional well-being, mental health and confidence-building.
Qualified Female Staff: Presence of women educators and counsellors to provide mentorship.
Modern Infrastructure: Well-equipped science labs, libraries, smart classrooms, sports arenas and more.
Based on these parameters, many Delhi schools stand out—but few match the well-rounded offering of Evergreen Public School.
Top All-Girls CBSE Schools in Delhi
Here are a few traditional girls-only schools that have consistently performed well:
1. Loreto Convent School, Delhi Cantt
One of the oldest and most respected girls’ schools in Delhi, Loreto offers value-based education with an emphasis on character-building and discipline.
2. Mater Dei School, Tilak Lane
Founded in the 1950s, this school is known for its rigorous academics, Catholic values, and emphasis on co-curricular excellence.
3. St. Thomas’ School, Mandir Marg
Renowned for creating leaders, this institution focuses on moral education, public speaking, arts and academic achievements.
4. Presentation Convent School, Delhi Gate
Known for strong board results and co-curricular achievements, it has been a pillar of all-girls education for decades.
5. Queen’s Valley School, Dwarka
A relatively modern institution, Queen’s Valley stands out for its modern facilities, emphasis on STEAM education, and student safety protocols.
While each of these schools has their own unique advantages, not every parent prefers an all-girls environment. Many now seek co-educational setups that still offer every opportunity for girls to excel—just like Evergreen Public School.
Why Evergreen Public School Is a Top Choice for Girls
Though Evergreen Public School is a co-educational institution, it provides one of the most empowering, balanced and enriching educational experiences for girls in Delhi. Here’s why:
1. Established Legacy
With a strong foundation dating back to 1975, the school has grown into a trusted name in CBSE education, offering K–12 schooling with consistently excellent board results.
2. Inclusive Environment
Girls at EPS benefit from an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere that fosters leadership and builds self-confidence. The school ensures gender-sensitive policies, girl-friendly activities, and equal participation in every event and competition.
3. Academic Strength
Evergreen Public School follows the CBSE curriculum rigorously, with added emphasis on competitive exam preparation, smart classrooms, digital content, and subject-specific labs for science, math, and language.
4. Creative & Cultural Excellence
EPS goes beyond academics. Students participate in dramatics, debates, music bands, art exhibitions, and school publications—giving girls multiple platforms for expression.
5. Strong Infrastructure
The school boasts smart classrooms, libraries with thousands of titles, sports facilities, an audio-visual room, fully equipped laboratories, and a robotics lab—ideal for 21st-century learners.
6. Focus on Safety
The campus is secured with CCTV, dedicated female staff, separate washroom facilities, and trained counsellors—creating a space where girls feel safe and respected.
7. Leadership and Exposure
From student councils to inter-school competitions and national-level Olympiads, girls at EPS are constantly exposed to leadership roles and academic challenges that build confidence for life.
Conclusion
The term "best CBSE school for girls in Delhi" may vary depending on what a parent is specifically looking for. If you prioritise a single-gender setup steeped in tradition, then schools like Loreto Convent or Mater Dei are excellent options. However, if you believe that your daughter can benefit from a modern, progressive, co-ed learning space that doesn’t compromise on safety, performance, or personal development—Evergreen Public School deserves your attention.
EPS ensures every girl gets the opportunity to lead, learn, and grow in an environment that celebrates individuality and champions excellence. It is more than a school—it’s a launchpad for future-ready girls.

Tumblr media
Buying a home in Toorak is a dream for many—and a smart move for those who can make it happen. Nestled in one of Melbourne’s most prestigious postcodes, Toorak is synonymous with luxury, old-world charm, and high-end real estate. But with its exclusivity comes competition, sky-high prices, and complex negotiations. That’s where a buyers agent Toorak can make all the difference.
In this article, we’ll walk you through:
Why Toorak is such a sought-after location
What a buyers agent does and how they help
Common challenges buyers face in Toorak
A step-by-step guide to buying with a buyers agent
A real-world case study
Final thoughts to help you move forward
🏘️ Why Everyone’s Talking About Toorak
Toorak is not just another suburb—it's a statement. It's one of the wealthiest and most desirable neighborhoods in Australia. With leafy streets, luxury boutiques, excellent schools, and proximity to Melbourne’s CBD, it attracts professionals, investors, and high-net-worth families.
Key highlights of Toorak include:
Historic mansions and architectural gems
Close to South Yarra, Hawksburn, and the Yarra River
Exclusive shopping on Toorak Road and Chapel Street
Elite private schools like St Kevin’s, Loreto Mandeville Hall, and Scotch College nearby
A strong sense of community, safety, and prestige
But while Toorak may seem like a paradise, navigating the property market here is not for the faint of heart. That’s why working with a buyers agent Toorak is a smart investment.
🤔 What Is a Buyers Agent and Why Use One?
A buyers agent (also known as a buyer’s advocate) is a licensed professional who works solely on behalf of property buyers. Their job is to help you find, evaluate, and negotiate properties—saving you time, money, and stress.
In high-end suburbs like Toorak, this role becomes especially critical. A buyers agent Toorak brings hyper-local knowledge, discreet access to off-market listings, and negotiation power that can make or break your deal.
Main responsibilities of a buyers agent include:
Understanding your property goals
Researching suitable properties
Attending inspections and bidding at auctions
Negotiating price and terms
Coordinating due diligence and settlement
🚧 Common Challenges When Buying in Toorak
Whether you’re a first-home buyer, an investor, or looking for a family mansion, buying in Toorak presents unique hurdles.
1. Fierce Competition
Demand often exceeds supply in Toorak. Homes get snapped up fast, sometimes without even hitting the market. You’re often competing with cashed-up investors, international buyers, and long-time locals.
2. Sky-High Prices
The median house price in Toorak consistently hovers around $4 million to $5 million, with some homes fetching much more. Without expert advice, it’s easy to overpay or get outbid.
3. Hidden Property Problems
Even luxurious properties can come with hidden issues—zoning restrictions, heritage overlays, structural faults. A buyers agent can identify risks before you commit.
4. Auction Pressure
Many Toorak properties are sold at auction, which can be an emotional and intimidating process for inexperienced buyers.
5. Off-Market Listings
A significant portion of Toorak properties are sold off-market. Without industry connections, you may never even see some of the best homes available.
✅ Step-by-Step Guide to Buying in Toorak with a Buyers Agent
Here’s how a buyers agent Toorak can guide you through every stage of your property journey:
Step 1: Initial Consultation
You’ll meet with the agent to discuss your goals, budget, preferred property type, and timeline. This helps them create a clear brief.
Step 2: Suburb and Market Research
The agent conducts deep market analysis—recent sales data, property cycles, upcoming developments, and street-level insights. They’ll also evaluate how realistic your goals are.
Step 3: Property Search
This includes scanning both on-market and off-market properties. Many buyers agents in Toorak have insider access to private sales through agents and networks.
Step 4: Shortlisting and Inspections
The agent will inspect properties on your behalf, shortlist the best options, and arrange private inspections. They’ll provide detailed reports and help you compare options objectively.
Step 5: Property Evaluation
The agent will determine the fair market value of the property using comparable sales and financial modeling. This prevents emotional decision-making and overbidding.
Step 6: Negotiation or Auction Bidding
Whether negotiating directly or bidding at auction, the buyers agent uses proven tactics to get the best price and terms.
Step 7: Due Diligence
The agent works with building inspectors, solicitors, and mortgage brokers to ensure there are no nasty surprises.
Step 8: Settlement Support
Once your offer is accepted, the buyers agent stays involved to ensure a smooth settlement—coordinating paperwork, payments, and timelines.
📚 Case Study: How a Buyers Agent Secured a Dream Home in Toorak
Client: Rebecca and David, a professional couple moving from Sydney to Melbourne Budget: $4.5 million Goal: A 4-bedroom period home with a backyard and access to top schools
Challenge: Rebecca and David were relocating for work but didn’t have time to fly to Melbourne every weekend to house hunt. They also feared missing out on off-market deals.
Solution: They hired a trusted buyers agent Toorak with extensive local knowledge and agent contacts. After identifying their priorities, the agent began shortlisting properties. Within 3 weeks, they were shown an off-market Edwardian home just off Orrong Road.
The agent negotiated directly with the seller’s agent, securing the home before it hit the public market. The purchase price came in $200,000 below their maximum budget, and the settlement process was handled seamlessly.
Result: The family moved in within two months, with no stress and no bidding wars.

Busy professionals who don’t have time for endless inspections
First-time buyers who want expert guidance
Interstate or overseas buyers who can’t be on-site
Investors looking to secure prime assets with strong returns
Families seeking homes in school zones

💬 FAQs About Buyers Agents in Toorak
Q: Are buyers agents expensive?

Yes. A top buyers agent Toorak usually has deep relationships with real estate agents and access to properties never listed publicly.
Q: Will they work with my budget?
Yes. Whether your budget is $2 million or $20 million, there are agents who specialize in different segments of the market.
Q: How long does the process take?

Toorak is not just another suburb—it's a statement. It's one of the wealthiest and most desirable neighborhoods in Australia. With leafy streets, luxury boutiques, excellent schools, and proximity to Melbourne’s CBD, it attracts professionals, investors, and high-net-worth families.
