what’s one fic of yours you think people didn’t “get”?

I think people didn't get the ending of In the Future and the Past. It ends with Jace finally telling Alec and Izzy that he died at Lake Lyn and then cuts off. People were upset that the conversation wasn't shown but that conversation wasn't the point imo. A) Alec and Izzy already knew, their responses wouldn't have been shocked or juicy and B) The important part was that Jace was ready to tell them. In all the time since what had happened he had been lying to them and hiding the truth and trying to ignore what had happened but finally he was ready. We saw it on the show, Alec especially was fully aware that Jace had died, obviously Alec and Izzy would have been supportive as he told the story. The important part was that he was ready to tell it which is what I showed. I was surprised that I got gripes about ending it there tbh but I do also get people wanting that full resolution. Aside from that there's definitely moments in MiT across the series that I think get a response that is contradicted in Brian's narration but it's very long lmao so that's bound to occasionally happen

I mean all is good but I do really love when people pull lines out that they especially liked or sparked thoughts for them. Sometimes you put real effort in to craft the perfect sentence and it's glorious when a reader points it out and says they loved it :)

Preparing for Valentine's Day, I imagine, would be pretty hard with two boyfriends who are so old by human standards.

You have no idea what to get Lynn. He's been alive for so long, and made such extensive travels, that you don't think you could buy him anything that he could want. The typical gifts—plushies, flowers, chocolates and the like—all feel oddly childish when you consider giving them to him. You're the one who's making yourself so nervous about it. Lynn has never even brought up such high expectations. But you just don't know!

Asking Lily for advice is the best way to go. It helps that she's eager to answer. ("Hm… I think, as long as it's something you made, Brother would be happy no matter what it is!") You buy him one of the fancier kitchen appliances he's been hoping of getting, and set to work making some personalised gifts! Maybe you'll buy some white mugs and paint some hearts on them by hand, making one for all three of you. You could knit something for him to wear, sew together a keychain or crosstitch a nice pattern! Or a little personalised scrapbook page, or a meal cooked especially for him! (Using some of the tips he himself had taught you.)

Lynn with would be incredibly pleased with whatever you got him! He'll give you a kiss and say how much he loves it, but it'll really shine in how much his wings puff up, in how he'll keep a small smile on his face the rest of the day. He's happy to be thought of and acknowledged, and he'll use the appliance you got him to make something delicious ASAP. Plus, whatever you made him will be carried around/worn often, too.

(As for Nick, while I've only seen the donghua, I saw that he gets Lynn a meet up with Saint's Street Gordon Ramsey in the manhua. I think that Nick should get him a meetup / call with his idol and Lynn would be overjoyed for days, lol. Or some other related merch.)

Similarly, you've been doing research on how demons celebrate Valentine's Day to better get Nick a gift he likes. The results make you change your mind, though. It's a lot of 'showing you have a leg up over potential romantic rivals', with everything from very loud and very public declarations of love, mild humiliation aimed at this supposed rival, or straight-up fistfights. You don't think any of that is going to work out for you very well.

Instead you just try to think of something that Nick would like, personally, which is always the best way to go. He's someone who really likes attention, and you don't mean that in a negative sense. Perhaps he's the type who does like more traditional displays of affection… You decide to just go for it, and buy a game he's been eyeing in case it doesn't all go the way you're hoping it goes. Of course, you'll give him that either way.

You get a big bouquet of roses delivered to his workplace on the day of, with a card to boot. It's a honest letter, if not a little long and overly affectionate to help really inflate his ego. It's the way you think he'd like it. (When he gets home that day, he kisses you, before bonking you on the head, lightly. "Don't send me that kinda stuff at work!" He says, sounding like he's going to cry, just a little. He's clearly happy.) You get him one of those little coupon books for hugs, kisses and sex as if he isn't going to be a clingy bastard regardless. It's funny, though.

(Lynn is perhaps someone who wants to be absolutely certain that his gift is useful as well as well-received! To him, the element of surprise pales in comparison when it comes to importance. He'll take Nick out shopping for a brand-new suit, for example!)

As for things the three of you do together, you'd totally have some kind of date night or day together. Nick might take you to one of his favourite hot pot restaurants. It's a little for him too, because there are hardly any places that make the broth spicy enough for his enjoyment. (You think it's questionable whether it's fit for human consumption.) Lynn would take the three of you out on a day together, something relaxing, like a spa! Except for Nick accidentally bursting into flames in one of the steam rooms, it would be very relaxing.
