Turns out it wasn't just Bank Chanwut who left M.Flow but Willi Arawill, Frame Noraphat, Float Nattawut, Poom Soravis and Phuri Phuwanon as well (so basically their whole boygroup project that was showcased in Beyond the Star the series).

I wonder if this is a sign of another production company running into financial trouble or just a case of contracts not being renewed.

GMMTV 2024 part 2 is over and these are the series that caught my eye:

Thame Po - Heart That Skips a Beat

I was low-key hoping for gmmtv idol BL and since WilliamEst have not-so-secretly been a thing for weeks (months?) now I finally got my wish. 🙏 No, seriously, why isn't there more idol BL? Shouldn't it tick all of Thai (BL) entertainment's favourite boxes? Bonus points for all of LYKN appearing. Negl I really enjoyed their time on stage during the break.

And now I wonder why Star Hunter never did the same with ELEMENT (and whatever happened with the group from Boyband the series or the guys from M.Flow's Beyond the Star). Chances were missed and now I'm sad. Luckily there's ThamePo now to cheer me up.

2. Revamp - The Undead Story

Everyone's probably really sad that Boss is no longer part of the project (which was to be expected when gmmtv bought it up) and I feel kind of bad that I'm cheering for Kay who probably took over Boss' role. Then again, Kay gets like, two antagonistic side roles per year and I'm so excited that at least he gets to be a vampire this time. Go Kay! 😍 (But also did they recycle parts of the first pilot trailer? I remember falling in absolute despair over giffing some of the dark scenes. I'm really not looking forward to having to do that again. Why do I never keep my psds?)

3. Leap Day

I love how this is filmed and edited. It has such a movie-like feel to it (even though youtube tells me it's going to be a series), and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Gun's character.

4. The Dark Dice

This year's contender for 'best The Gifted successor' and every year I fall for it again. Please don't pull a Home School, gmmtv, because this looks really good so far (except for the washed out blue filter). Also, lol Jumanji.

Apart from that, I got invisible MarcPoon in a jittirain series with a cast of like, 73 actors, and no Papang Phromphiriya anywhere. Thanks gmmtv. 😭👍

Beyond the Star isn't at all what I expected. They seem to have changed p much everything from the pilot trailer and now things feel very disjointed and bland - with none of the usual laid back slice-of-life charm that I like about other M.Flow productions.

I'll still watch it because I love Bank (who plays Namo aka the guy with the glasses) and I'm so happy he finally got a main role but... idek what to gif? Feels like I randomly started watching three episodes in or something and everyone is already coupled up.

Tin Tem Jai is honestly just such a comfort show. It's exactly what I need right now.

But also, I've known Pai for 40 minutes and if anything happens to her I'll start throwing hands.

I'd love for more people to realise that it's not just gmmtv that's actively pushing for marriage equality (and queer rights in general) in their BLs.

It's in (pretty much) every Thai BL (and GL) now. It's such an amazing thing to see that the people single-handedly responsible for Thailand's new soft power will no longer keep quiet about something that directly and negatively affects them and their loved ones.

I don't even care that it's almost as if they're breaking the fourth wall. Just give me more thinly-veiled government criticism in my queer stories and don't stop until it's no longer a necessity to speak up about it.

Star Hunter is doing it (most recently with Big Dragon), as is domundi/Mandee (with Cutie Pie) and Idolfactory, Dee Hup House, Studio Wabi Sabi, TV Thunder, M.Flow and even big players like Channel 3. And that's just the production companies that immediately come to my mind.

Please feel free to add more examples (gmmtv included ofc). I'd love for this to become a list of sorts because it makes me ridiculously happy (and hopeful that someday soon marriage equality will become a reality in Thailand).

I know, I'm defending M.Flow of all production companies (and I'm still not sure if Time the Series wasn't just a fever dream) but as someone who really enjoyed Playboyy I'll bite... what's so wrong with BLs that show "graphic" sex? And why would I have to choose between plot or sex in the first place when these two things aren't even mutually exclusive?
