Neither of them make enough money to be financially independent or stable, sure they can get jobs but I doubt they'd be very good or pay well. Dee has a better chance but at this point she probably has very little successful qualifications her only other real job has been Paddy's. Charlie is a hard worker but uneducated.

Dennis and Mac do have a better chance of finding work outside of Paddy's and surviving but they'd still be losing their main source of employment.

Without Frank's money, schemes and escapades aside I'm talking simple basic needs and living the Charlie and Dee would be back at square one likely out on the streets if they got little to no help from Mac and Den, and Mac and Den would still be struggling just not as bad as the other two.

Not to mention Frank owns the land that the bar is on and correct me if I'm wrong, a large portion of the bar's shares.

They've been so codependent and stuck in their ways for so long they're stuck now and getting out means losing pretty much everything.

it all makes sense when you remember mac's creepy bare bedroom, no bottom sheet or actual bedding, no toys or knick-knacks (things he loves and finds joy in, confirmed) – just another way he deprives himself of pleasure. by going to sleep every single night in discomfort, punishing himself for his indulgences HELP ME. he does it with his food as well... describing his imaginary fancy dinner and it's literally just plain boiled chicken with no seasoning and plain rice. the whole gym bro lifestyle. i'm going to build him a bedroom with the biggest, cosiest bed, extra large mattress topper, a fuck ton of pillows and blankets, his metal and rock band posters all over the walls and silly little things he likes everywhere. then i will feed him proper seasoned food 3 times a day and kill everyone who has ever hurt him. does anyone else feel physically ill

God this ep made me feel so many things. They love each other I need this scene so badly

thinking about the aftermath of the dog track. dennis and dee parting ways, dennis holding dee’s wrist before dropping it reluctantly. dee’s sad smile as she turns away. charlie trailing after mac and dennis over to their apartment. charlie sitting next to the bathroom sink while dennis washes his face with shaking hands, trying desperately to remove the dog food residue from his skin. mac leaning against the wall watching them both, eyes glazed over. dennis accidentally knocking his bottle of cleanser to the ground, mac and charlie nearly jumping out of their skin at the sound—clattering, echoing. like a gunshot. like before. mac and charlie exchanging weary glances, sleepy and eyes rimmed red. the three of them sitting together on the couch, close enough to feel each other breathing, far apart enough to feel safe. finally drifting off to sleep as the sun begins to rise, heads on shoulders, hands entwined, like children.

we need more genderswap Iasip (/Yuri macdennis) in this fandom.

Dennis in particular is an interesting character to genderbend. Denise would probably be very feminine. And I think she would sleep with a lot of guys as a sexual conquest the way Dennis sleeps with a lot of girls. She kisses Mac to "get guys attention". But also Denise will have casual sex with them but she insists she would never actually date a woman because she's not gay she's just flexible. (In girls bisexual is often fetishized so that's why she leans into that).

Mac would be butch as hell because her dad always wanted a boy so she was always pushed into boyish things growing up (he told to be not like other girls). And so Mac still still looks down on feminine things.

Charlie would be the exact same. Maybe an open lesbian. Or openly unlabeled?

Frank would probably be the same, but worked even harder to get the money and stuff than Frank had too.
