MacLeod Andrews steps down as the main audiobook narrator.
Tumblr media
"I just felt like the listeners and the series deserve a fresh perspective and voice bringing them these stories."
Thank you for all your hard work, MacLeod! Your narration of, in your words, 50+ books is highly appreciated. You'll be missed!

Have not finished tactica yet but I will say that MacLeod Andrews has given such a phenomenal performance as Toshiro. He definitely sounds like a typically put together man finally cracking and breaking as he re-experiences all of his trauma that he's been trying to repress throughout his life. Probably one of my favorite voice performances in the entire franchise.

Lord Darkstripe
I've been listening to Stars Wars Legends: Revan on audible and the narrators voice for Scourge makes me think of Macleod Andrews voice for Darkstripe from the Warriors books on audible. Now you can be cursed with this image because I cannot unhear it.

I would have gotten into Animorphs sooner if I knew MacLeod Andrews was one of the narrators! Love his work on Warriors, his readings are such a joy to listen to

THEY LOOK LIKE PEOPLE (2016)
Tumblr media
This is a trip, a journey, and a run away. You can feel your heart go out to these characters right away. You so desperately want to believe in them and/or the world that you get so wrapped up in this thing and it will change what you believe about friendship/platonic love, and if you get past the scares, it might make you believe in people again.
(Suicidal ideation/imagery warning if you choose to watch)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tumblr media
“So this is the basement it's for killing people or raping animals, why am I showing this to you…” Wyatt is having trouble knowing what's what and who is real because he's seeing things that, as the title suggests, look like people. Christian, his old buddy from high school, slips back into the best friend role and together they are goofy, wonderful, and real, and when Wyatt starts to slip and show signs of whatever he has going on, Christian is scared but he doesn’t step down, he joins the crusade. Christian is so brave he even lets Wyatt tie him up. Christian wants to help his friend and he trusts him (or wants to trust him). It pays off in the end for both men but not without the threat of acid being poured.
Tumblr media
This is a complicated film because on one hand you can say it was just mental illness but on the other hand there are so many more questions that went unanswered, why couldn’t it have been a supernatural thing? My largest argument for this theory was that it was Christian believing in Wyatt that more-or-less broke the spell at the end of the movie. There are demons and spirits that kneel to the power of love but mental illness doesn’t just stop once it is acknowledged. Either way, the film came down to love and trust which is honestly terrifying all on its own so I think this movie did a great job of just showing life and compassion as well. I just felt good after watching it, I felt mildly spooked, but also I had hope in humanity a little bit more, like my heart was restarted a bit.

@moonkent I was wondering if it had to do with not only his versatility in general, but his skills at doing alien voices specifically - he does the first direct Yeerk voice in #6, the Iskoort and Howlers in #26, the Nartec in #36, and the Orf in #41 (and Joe Bob Fenestre in #16 if you want to count him as an alien, haha). Each of those examples were really well done, and unique. Maybe they figured for the first book set completely off-world, he'd be a good pick?
That is a good point, and I do love his narration. It just seems so weird that they dropped that conceit between books.
Animorphs audiobooks — how did they choose the Chronicles narrators?
Look. I LOVE how Scott Brick reads The Ellimist Chronicles — he might be my favorite narrator yet. He comes off as super condescending but with a hint of melancholy. Like he really is this infinite cosmic gamerboy wearily explaining the universe to a stupid little human.
But why the hell is MacLeod Andrews (who normally voices Jake) narrating The Andalite Chronicles? Like, I can appreciate not wanting to cast an entirely new voice for Elfangor, but Adam Verner (who voices Ax) is RIGHT THERE! Or you use Michael Crouch (who voices Tobias) if there's a schedule conflict. Why would you recast the guy who does Jake as Elfangor? Why would you then NOT do that for the other Chronicles?
Because I could see an interesting argument for having Jake's voice narrate Elfangor's story, IF we then got Tobias's voice narrating Dak and Aldrea's story, then Rachel's voice narrating Toomin's story, then Marco's voice narrating Edriss's story. This still begs the question of why Jake and not Ax, but at least that way it'd be consistent.

I am obsessed with the delivery of this line 😆 MacLeod Andrews does so much for this series!
[video ID: a recording of a computer screen, with the audiobook for “Wind” pulled up. MacLeod Andrews narrates the following conversation between Nighteart and Sunbeam:
"'Mother can be difficult, but I was happy when I was a kit, and I want to raise kits with you, Nightheart...' 🥺
'You will have... 🤩 The Most... 🤩 Be-YOO-tiful 🤩 kits,' Nightheart purred." End video ID.]

Thinking Andrew Scott! Remembering the time we were larking about in between takes of my BBC 4 play. The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight. Directed by the brilliant @davidthetintin . We had a riot!
I wrote the part with Andrew in mind, and it was a dream-come -true moment when he came home early from his holiday in Greece to star in it. He bought such depth, grace and tenderness to the role. Hearing him speak my words blew my tiny mind.
Just saw Andrew play all the parts in the stage version of Simon Stephens’ VANYA. Of course he was extraordinarily brilliant. Then I watched him in Andrew Haig’s All of Us Strangers. Have you seen it yet? It’s kinda devastating- but heart-stoppingly beautiful.

Ruxiz Loi voice claim
Audio taken from- Into The Forest - Warrior cats audiobook | Andrews Macleod as Bluestar House of The Dragon - Caraxes ================================================
I thought he needed a voice, I wanted something soft and levelled for him and Bluestar from the audiobook seems like the perfect match. Emotional but not very expressive, soft-spoken but strong, also snuck in his custom subclass stuff. This was just for the funnies.
