why does macrob support "feminism", which is just misandry in disguise. you guys are toxic as hell when you get people, alumni even, to speak at your assemblies to bash men.
Hello,
Any societal topic including feminism can’t really be defined so specifically. In this case for all the controversial perspectives, actions, taken by people in the name of feminism, it is in its origination the support of women’s rights in terms of gender equality. Nothing is so black and white in that every feminist acts purely for equality for women, or in contrast, that any speech regarding feminism are just words hiding every feminist’s prejudice against men. Like any other social issue you’ll have people using feminism to promote what they want, whether it’s for more female positions in STEM (one thing macrob does), or just expressing their personal opinion in relation to gender equality.
There’ll also be different ways that people express their support. It’s how they and you perceive their actions. Such as the #metoo movement (while not entirely about feminism, it includes the empowerment of women). One person may criticize the lesser amount of representation for males, or maybe how it helps standardise the idea of women being victims, men being perpetrators in sexual harassment. Whereas another may feel validated in their right to speak about such matters online.
Feminism encompasses many various issues. The term ‘gender equality’ doesn’t refer to the snubbing of males - it’s about abortion, the right to vote, birth control, right to education, equal pay, and so many other things that could affect a woman’s life. It’s so much more than just ‘females deserve what males have’ because issues in society aren’t that simple and feminism, when promoted in the right way, really can help someone.
Why does macrob advocate for females and promote feminism so much at school events and around the grounds? Macrob wants to have the best learning environment for its students through mainly female empowerment and while some may believe that feminism has no impact on society, it certainly is more effort than doing nothing to address problems that we may come across outside of school. The school also wants to display a socially conscious place that is considerate of its students for potential parents and students to want to apply for macrob.
As for how the school promotes feminism -
I’ll be a little personal here by giving my own opinion: but I do think that sometimes some people in front of the school, and even in promotional activities in overpass may be slightly overboard. Some guests may drop a few too many ‘jokes’ in affronting men (all those mhs ones get stale too quickly) and it’s pretty uncomfortable hearing them. Unfortunately, the school doesn’t plan or oversee what guest speakers talk about so there’s not much we can do on that point. If you feel strongly about what someone has said, you could contact coordinators/ school captains/ admin for the speaker’s details to email them to discuss politely about the topics they’d mentioned. As for student-run things - message the leaders. Whoever is running something, if you feel imposed upon or condemned the best way for something to be done is to let someone know. Complaining online, much less to a teenage mentorship group, won’t change anything at all.
The important thing is to keep an open mind. View feminism from different points in that it’s not completely a bad thing nor is it always righteous in its entirety. Read wikipedia on it or some recent news articles to find points about it. Not everyone agrees with everything feminism stands for, some believe that other issues should be focused more on instead, and so on. Find a stance on feminism (or not), but keep in mind to not to criticize others on their own opinion of feminism. Although feminism can be a representation of what you think (the degrading of men) for some, there’s so much more to it whereby promoting it can affect someone’s life positively in spreading awareness of these issues it addresses.

Why do I have red stretch marks on my arms? Like above my armpit? And how to get rid of them??
Hi there,
Unfortunately FAM isn’t qualified to provide medical advice. If you are concerned it would be best to consult a medical professional such as your family doctor (general practitioner).

how to bake fudgy brownies? my brownies are always just cakey :(
Hey there,
If you’re getting cakey brownies, it means there’s too much flour/dry ingredients. To get that nice chewy texture, you’ll have to add more butter (or chocolate, if you melt it) to your mixture or reduce the amount of flour so there’s just enough (rather than too much). It’s the same when making chewy cookies as opposed to crunchy cookies (a lot of butter… like more than one stick). If you’re using oil, substitute it for butter instead. Omit baking powder/soda if you’re including them so that the brownies don’t rise like cakes. And perhaps you’re leaving the brownies in the oven for too long so that they don’t retain the moisture required for a fudgy texture?
Look up some fudgy brownie recipes if you need some guidelines. I love watching videos so that may help you too! Check out this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIonKbKM-tE
Personally, I’m a bigger fan of cakey brownies so I’d love the ones you’re making now :D But good luck on making these fudgy ones as well!
You can also use pumpkin or black beans to make really fudgy (and protein dense vegan!) brownies.

hey fam! in yr 10 camp, was everything spilt by form and were cabin groups based on our preferences like could forms mix or was it based more on the role
Hey!
For Year 10 camp, a doc was sent out and we were able to fill in our own cabins with whoever we wanted to share a cabin with whether or not we were in the same form.
Activity groups were then based on cabin groups. For example, all the people in cabin 1-4 might’ve been in one group and then 5-8 and so on. Each cabin had roughly 8 people or less we believe.
If you would like more clarification it would be best to see your YLCs.
Hopefully this helps and enjoy!FAM xx

hot take: macrob is misogynist for supplying subpar teaching resources to their students.
Hey there,
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Unfortunately, we’re not going to offer any further comments as this is a safe space for many people and we don’t want to accidentally disrupt that in any way. This is not a platform to share personal opinions despite the number of questions that may seem as such. If you’re looking to discuss about MacRob, you could attend one of the clubs at school or talk to a teacher.

is it possible for me to retake my test if i failed??
Hey there,
This is a very general question and we’re not too sure what kind of test you’re talking about so hopefully our answer is relevant to your case.
Depending on what kind of test it is, you may have to resit it. If this is the case, it’d be best to talk to your teacher if they haven’t reached out to you about it already. It also might depend on what subject you’re doing as to whether a resit is necessary.
Please know that not doing as well as you might have hoped in a test doesn’t mean that you failed or that you are a failure by any means. Going to school and sitting tests is all a learning experience and it’s important to make mistakes sometimes so that we can learn from them. If you don’t pass an assessment (i.e. achieve a mark below 40%), definitely speak to your teacher about it and even if you don’t get to resit the assessment (i.e. don’t get to change your grade) remember that as long as you’re learning and getting what you’re supposed to be getting out of classes then that’s the most important thing.
Hopefully this helps,FAM xx

Hi what are some things to do or good shops or restaurants in mc??
Hey there,
Melbourne Central has a cinema, this kit kat factory store, strike bowling and laser tag, currently a samsung promotion, a gym if you’re eager, an exchange library, and places to eat at.
MC includes various kinds of stores so it really depends what you’re looking for, or interested in. Look through their site for some ideas: https://www.melbournecentral.com.au/home . I personally like going through clothing stores/ food stores/ this list can but won’t go on and it’s fun to just go wherever when I’m with friends. Emporium is connected to MC so you can go through to there for more stores as well (plus more food options!).
My go-to since I’ve basically moved to the city (okay, not really) is zomato for good food recommendations, or even just to check out what’s available. I’ve learnt about many great places through this website including Kyo Teahouse (emporium, dessert restaurant, much love).
Not much advice other than take the day to wander around to find what you want. Hope it’s not too vague!

do u guys think macrob should accept trans females (people who have transitioned from male to female)
Hey,
Mac.Rob, as a whole, is an incredibly accepting and loving community. Each person, both within FAM as well as within the Mac.Rob community, however, will have a different perspective regarding this so it’s hard to give you a concrete answer as to what FAM thinks about this. In general, we believe that everybody, regardless of gender, is deserving of an education and should have equal opportunities as each other.

How had macrob been life changing for you guys? Any special experience you think macrob has to off? (year 8 going into year 9)
Hey there,
Of course, every student will have a different experience at Mac.Rob and where some consider the experience life changing, there will also be some who are underwhelmed by the experience. Just remember there is no right or wrong – simply just experiences. Below are some of our experiences :)
FAM Member 1: My outlook on life has changed. Sounds a little much and probably cheesy but hear me out. I think studying at MacRob has been a really good move for me. At my old school, I remember not caring about leadership, being unmotivated to do well, never putting my hand up for things because I always made excuses not to. The MacRob environment however, is made of students who always put themselves forward, students who strive to do their best, and there are so, so many opportunities to do…whatever you want to achieve! I love this support from peers and teachers and going to macrob has turned my life into an uplifting one. While I know this won’t last forever - I am graduating this year after all - I hope to keep this mindset of being the very best that I can throughout my life.
FAM Member 2: Similarly to FM1, my outlook on life has changed as well. I’ve taken so many life lessons from being at MacRob! Being at MacRob has really helped me find myself and has made me feel comfortable in my own skin as everyone is so warm and welcoming. MacRob gave me many opportunities I wouldn’t have had at my old school, such as Adelaide Exchange which is something I really enjoyed participating in in my years here at MacRob. Again, it’s so cheesy but MacRob helped me come out of my shell and I’ve been able to really branch out and make a lot more friends and expand my friendship circles!!
We hope this gave you some insight :)

Hello FAM!! Hope ur weekends have been superb :) I'm lost my student compass card and where in lost property could I find it? I'm pretty desperate because I borrow heaps of books from the library and it feels like my lifeline has been cut off :((
Hey there,
Ahh we’re sorry to hear that! We have many lost property places around the school that you might like to check out including the sick bay, general office, library, and the gym so be sure to check in those places.
Because it’s a compass card, it’s obviously got your name and photo so if someone happens to pick it up around the school we’re sure it’ll make its way back to you such as through your form roll or something like that.
If it doesn’t turn up after a while, you can order a new one via compass for about $5!
All the best,FAM xx

Please help, my friend is addicted to almonds. She has a real problem. She is going through withdrawal right now and needs help pls help this poor child.
Hey there,
I can’t say eating too much of one thing is entirely healthy but I also love eating almonds as much as the next person! I’d say to your friend that she should start decreasing the amount of almonds she eats slowly - restrict herself to a small box per day while avoiding the constant eating (how addicted is she??). Perhaps introduce her to the world of fruits, legumes and nuts: there’s more out there than just almonds. I’ve recently gotten into walnuts and blueberries and I used to love to eat dried, sweetened cranberries.
I bet you’ll want to try too! Best of luck to your almond-addicted friend.
