I think that as a teen Magnus was someone who talked no stop when anxious or just overstimulated,while Raphael loves being silent. So I can see them both out of the therapist's office and Magnus just starts talking like he always does and Raphael just listens to him for the first time and is actually interested at some point so when Raphel can enter in the therapist's office he is just "i listened to someone and i didn't want to rip my skin off,is this progress?" And the therapist just stares at him

By the way I think that Raphael finds out abour Magnus's past ar some point,maybe he tells him about it by accident or Raphael just founds out and he doesn't want to say that but he acrually cares about him??like for him Magnus is like a brother but he will never say that loud,so he just use sarcasm to make fun of him sometimes bur as friends

And Asmodeus would be both grateful for Raphael's presence, as well as again not knowing what to do. Because he already doesn't know how to handle his own kid right, and now there is another kid here as well.

But Magnus has a friend and that is good, and Magnus seems a whole lot more relaxed when Raphael is here than when it's just Asmodeus and him. So that's also good.

Maybe Raphael is in therapy because his mom and dad got divorced and the custody battle was ugly and somehow it ended up with Raphael living with his father while Rosa was living with their mother. And the two live pretty far from each other so he can't see her a lot and he isn't handling that well at all.

And the more time he spends with Magnus, the more he realizes that Magnus is not a spoiled rich kid. Magnus acts way too street smart for that. And then there are other clues that Raphael can string together. And he actually doesn't plan on asking Magnus about it. It's none of his business and it doesn't change how he sees Magnus anyway so why bother.

But maybe Magnus' mom isn't dead, but in a mental facility, and her doctor thinks she is stable enough to see her son. And Asmodeus tells Magnus and asks him if he wants to go. And Magnus does, but... maybe that episode that his mom had that resulted in him being reunited with his father was really bad. REALLY bad. And Magnus does want to go cause he still loves her, but he also doesn't want to do it alone. And Asmodeus will be there of course but it's different, because his father tries but he doesn't get Magnus the way that ... that Raphael get him. And then Magnus just tells Raphael everything and asks him if he would come with him? But it's cool if he doesn't want to. Totally cool. Magnus gets it. It's not Raphaels responsibility or anything, and actually, this is way too much to ask of him, forget Magnus said anything, let's just pretend this never happened and go for some icecream. But Raphael just stops him right then, and hugs him, and says, "course I will come with."

And that's that.

Oh, brotherly Magnus and Raphael is so beautiful.

i think the point i’m making is obvious: the 3 white showrunners and mostly white writers almost never ever let magnus even talk to any of the other main characters. (he also goes three seasons without a single story arc with another main that lasts more than 1 episode. (no, the writers using luke as a mouthpiece to justify alec’s mistake in 2b does not count.) you know, like how alec had big long arcs with both clary and jace in s1, 2a, and 3a and izzy here and there. even maia, the most neglected character on this show, still got to regularly interact with simon and luke- 2 mains. even luke with his limited screentime, still got to regularly at least talk to literally all of the mains in all his group scenes.

and what about the 3 downworlder mains and alec?

well, altho alec and maia only had 2 scenes together, that’s still twice what magnus/ maia got, seeing as they only had the 1 scene together in 2a.

alec and luke had at least 3 scenes together in s1 that i can remember vs magnus/ luke only having 2 lines in 1x06. both duos had about equal in 2b.

in 3a alec/luke had 5 scenes together. magnus/ luke had none where they actually spoke to each other. in group scenes magnus only talked to alec.

in 3b alec/ luke had 3 scenes. magnus/ luke had none. plus luke told alec that he couldn’t go to his wedding, instead of telling magnus.

in s1 magnus/ simon had maybe 1 line. alec/ simon were interacting constantly throughout, i don’t remember how many scenes it was.

in 2a magnus/ simon had 2 episodes together. in 2b they had 1 scene but i don’t really count it since it was only to have it be literally everyone vs magnus. alec/ simon had 1 scene in 2b and none in 2a.

in 3a alec/ simon had 3 scenes interacting together. magnus/ simon had none where they actually spoke to each other.

in 3b all the fans complaining really paid off! 2 scenes in 3x15. 1 scene each in 3x17, 3x19, 3x20, and 3x21 for a grand total of 6 scenes. plus no talking- yet still in a scene together- in 1 other scene in 3x15, 3x17, 3x18, and 2 others in 3x19, for a grand total of 5, not counting the edom finale scenes. magnus/ simon only said 2 lines to each other in 3b.

not to mention alec stood next to simon in a nice two-shot in 4 separate scenes. it really reminded me of what they do with clary/ alec in group scenes. the writers don’t always give them a lot of dialogue together, but they’re sure to get that dynamic in at least visually. alec always has at least crumbs vs magnus getting nothing. where is that energy from the writers, directors, or fans with magnus and literally any main? really, where is it?

i mean, there was no reason for alec/ simon not to have scenes, but i’m so truly disappointed that this is where the fan effort was spent instead of lobbying for magnus to get to interact with even one main character other than alec, seeing as alec always already get to constantly have many, many, many duo and group scenes and big arcs with the 3 other shadowhunters. and now he gets to be more bonded with all of the main downworlders too instead of magnus with his own people. the writers are so so so wack.

also obviously magnus interacts with alec on a regular basis. the point is that’s it. malec is the main reason why i watch the show, so it matters a great deal, but when every other main is getting vastly more interactions, it’s a problem. also in nearly all of the episodes when alec has scenes with other mains- and magnus is not there- magnus is not mentioned. not so when it’s vice versa.

why not count any supporting characters you may be saying? because that’s not what i hear everyone demanding for alec or the others, is it? because he didn’t interact with raphael, his supposed son, in s1, or at all after 3x01 to the actual finale. because aside from her bringing madzie over in 3x11, catatrina and and him didn’t speak in 3b. she wasn’t even introduced until 3a (so 2 seasons w/o any friends.) they only spoke in 4 scenes total in all of s3. she was his best man, yet that’s not important enough to show on screen. ragnor was literally only 1 episode. who’s left- his jealous, bitter pathetic rival or his father who has obvious gross, creepy incestuous, jealous feelings for him. or alec’s mother, who only had scenes with him for the same reason maia/ jordan had all those scenes- to give them something to do away from the group/ main plotlines. why couldn’t magnus and maia had scenes together also or instead? and being bffs with his bf’s mom but not getting to even TALK to his parabatai, the person alec’s closest to platonically, let alone be friends, is truly beyond words. and also harry and matt are only 5 years apart (kat/ dom have more of an age difference) so i’m tired of the writers/ fans keeping alec in the playpen with his younger co-stars while magnus is separated to only older ones.

and also i just really don’t care about supporting characters. i see them as just taking screentime away from the mains, specifically the downworlder mains, who are already running on limited time. look at 3x13 when they want to do a whole heidi arc, who gets cut- magnus. or in 3x17 when they want to introduce helen and aline, i resented them right off the bat for getting twice as much screentime than magnus, a main character, in that important episode for him. throughout the whole show, whenever supporting characters are getting screentime, it always means magnus, maia, and luke are not. that’s not good.

some final thoughts, nearly every single malec fan spent the entire 9 month hiatus from 3a to 3b relentlessly saying alec needs interactions. as if he didn’t get huge bonding arcs with clary and jace in s1 and 2a and 3a. as if he doesn’t talk to and go places and do things with clary, jace, and izzy nearly every single episode, every single season since the beginning. mighty handy to not count the 3 of them when you want to cry “alec has no friends” every single day, as if he hasn’t had an enemy to friendship arc with clary 3 times in 3 seasons. as if he hasn’t had a dying, can’t live without you arc with jace 3 times in 3 seasons. as if he doesn’t hug jace twice more than magnus per half season. as if he doesn’t have izzy there to lean on and talk to. funny how siblings don’t count as friends when it’s mighty convenient that’s they’re the only mains to have siblings. i would kill, KILL, for magnus to be even talk to jace and izzy let alone be real friends, yet fans are taking their friendships with alec for granted, while simultaneously saying they’re robbed of the parabatai dynamic. that’s rich.

if alec having scenes every other ep, and melodramatic arcs every other half season, wasn’t such a guarantee the fans have learned they could count on, nobody would say that his siblings and clary don’t count. but everyone knew they could say that because we know it wouldn’t be taken away. i mean, look at the stark siblings in game of thrones. they never interacted, and the entire fandom cried about that being the most important friendships to show, but it wasn’t shown. this fandom needs to put things in perspective and stop taking the lightwoods sibs and the shadowhunters squad dyamic for granted and realize that magnus and maia don’t get even a minuscule fraction of that. also want to add that simon got plenty of constant sturdy dynamics too, with clary, jace, luke, maia, and izzy. and fans got their alec/ simon content and yet still so ungrateful. i beg the malecs to compare what magnus gets before complaining.

Clara Fray is one of my new babies, she’s Clary’s older sister and Jonathan’s twin, her real name is Clarianna. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR TMI AND SHADOWHUNTERS) In my story, Valentine got the angel blood earlier than he did in canon, so when Jocelyn was pregnant with Jonathan and Clara, he injected both angel and demon blood on her. For some reason, Jonathan got all the demon blood and Clara got all the angel blood, so when Jocelyn blew up the house, she also took Clara with her. Jocelyn couldn’t afford to block Clara’s memories so she trained her on secret, though she never told her anything about the Circle or about Magnus, only that Clary didn’t know and wouldn’t remember anything “weird” and that she was special. When Clara and Clary find out about the Shadowhunters, Clara is delighted that she wasn’t alone. 

Clara would do almost anything for her sister, her and Alec are sass buddies, her and Izzy are fashion buddies and her and Jace are sparring buddies. She sees Simon like a little brother and Luke IS her father (fuck Valentine, she calls him her sperm donor), she couldn’t care less what the Clave thinks, she only plays nice with them for her sister and her new friends. Clara and Magnus will be BFF goals. Clara uses her attractiveness as a weapon, she’s asexual and panromantic, her love interest is probably gonna be Raphael (they both think the other wants something sexual angst but are relived when they find out they’re both asexual).

I know I wanted a lot, but I’m excited about this idea

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think her and Johnny should have gotten married and I really don’t care to see them back together. I’m glad we got Cassie out of it, but I just don’t care for them together.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: Be a better mother to Cassie? I just feel like that relationship is super strained.

Raphael Santiago

How I feel about this character: I love him. I don’t agree with everything that’s happened in the show involving his character, but he’s one of my favorites.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I hated the story line with Isabelle. It was awful for both their characters.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: What I said above, they should have never done that storyline, nor should they have ever had Raphael torturing someone. As much I love his character, his story lines have been absolutely terrible.

How I feel about this character: Okay so as a kid, she was one of my favorite characters. Sadly, I haven’t been keeping up on marvel comics, so I can’t answer much more than this question. :/

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would love to have seen her show up in the Daredevil show. Like how could would it be to see a live action version of her and then to see her maybe go against Matt in a trail?

Because i've been thinking about this last night when i couldnt sleep hered what i would have done differently if i wrote/directed shadowhunters:

- first of all: Alec and Izzy are parabatai and they're awesome

- jace doesn't exist as a shadowhunter: he is clary's adopted brother (jocelyn saved him when she yote out of idris) and his name is Sam - short for Samuel

- so clary and jace sam still have angel blood but they have to find out first

- with sam not being a shadowhunter from the start that means there's a spot open in the Institute trio which gets taken by - Aline (who got tired of hetero alicante and came to new york)

- max is there a lot more but still doesn't die

- simon is still clary's best friend and also sam's adorable boyfriend

- raphael helps him a lot without (most) of the problematic shit

- sebastian/Jonathan doesn't try to have a relationship with his sister

- since "jace" isn't there anymore clary falls in love with izzy

- magnus and alec stay pretty much the same

- Luke spends more time with clary

- maia is there a lot too and simon clary and her become bffs

I think that Raphael stars going to the same school as Magnus during second grade of high school because Raphael had some issues in his old school and was alone most of the time,so he convinced his father to let him change school. Magnus and Raphael spended a lot of time together so I think they both met Simon during lunch when he was sitting alone maybe because he had a fight with Clary so they all sit there without talking but day after day they start talking with eachother

I bet they all find themselfes in the most fucked up situations,like in the center of a fight or just in a random shop running away from police for weird reasons. All of them have different opinions about their side quests

Magnus loves it,he likes to have fun without having to worry that much about everything around him,he is like "woah,police is looking for me and I didn't stole anything!i missed this type of things guys" and so he enjoys it

Simon is scared but also excited,because he likes doing these things but he is always a "what if" person,and he would like to run away but,you know,he doesn't have anything better to do and he kinda wants to be brave

Raphael is angry at both of them most of the time because he always gets in trouble because of them and just goes with them because "what if something bad happeneds to Magnus or my father gets angry at me because I am at home" so he gives up and follows them

They are the most random trio ever,and no one could never think of that since they are a lot different,but they just like to get in trouble and have fun :)

Even if Raphael and Magnus are a little bit more closed than Simon is to them,its fine,since Simon has other friends like Maya,Clary,Isabelle,Jace and Alec,so they are fine with having lunch together sometimes before being a menace to society.

I think that Simon is the reasons of why Clary starts to see Magnus as something more than a spoiled rich kid,maybe because she sees Simon talking to him and Raphael about one of their adventures,i don't know,they just hang out and have fun

maybe it started when Simon got a little miffed with Clary (jealousy maybe? she is with Jace and simon still has this crush on her and sometimes he just can't stand seeing them all lovey dovey), and so he skips the group usual table in the cafeteria and heads to the next one that has an open seat. And that happens to be the one that Magnus and Raphael are sitting at. The two are tight, the whole school know this. And there are so many rumors flying around. Like Raphael being a specially trained child soldier guy who was hired by Magnus' father to act as a bodyguard during the school day. Or how Magnus just bought Raphael's friendship, and Raphael is just sticking to him because of the money. And whatever else a studentbody can come up with. Some rumors are wilder than others.

And Simon doesn't *really* believe them, but he also doesn't not believe them?

Anyway, it's the only table with an open seat, so Simon just swallows his nerves and comes over and asks if he can sit there.

Raphael says no the same time that Magnus gives an enthusiac yes. Raphael glares at Magnus, Magnus smiles at Raphael, Raphael snorts and kicks the chair out for Simon to sit.

And Simon is a babbler. He babbles when he is nervous. Raphael is annoyed, but Magnus is charmed. And they get talking. And it's fine. Even Raphael stops glaring at Simon at the end of lunch.

So the next day, Simon just does it again. Because it was fun, and Clary and Jace are still flirting with each other.

And while Clary does not understand at all why Simon keeps eating lunch with "Moneybags and his Minion", Alec can barely keep his interest from showing.

He burns to ask Simon all kinds of questions about Magnus. But it takes until that fateful encounter at the soup kitchen, until he is finally able to voice any of them.

I just have some thoughts since I’ve watched the first three episodes now. some things I’m glad the show did and also the things that irritated the fuck out of me so let’s go 👏🏼

1. aging the characters up. I think this is smart to do and there’s more you can do with the rest of them if they’re in their early twenties instead of being teenagers. sorry not sorry but I’m not interested in seeing teenagers being chased by grown adults

2. Clary is still beyond annoying. I know she’s traumatized by losing her mom and not understanding this new world but literally coming in “I don’t care about the clave, about your rules, I just want to find my mom.” yeah ok we get that but there are still rules that need to be followed. you’re out here almost getting people killed and it’s all in the name of your mom. and I’m not saying the clave is trustworthy because they’re massive dicks but you can’t go around running and doing whatever you want lmao

3. please give Alec a raise or a year vacation. the amount of shit he deals with having to be jaces parabatai is too much. honestly, Alec deserves better. Jace takes advantage of Alec and I would have loved to see Alec have another parabatai, one that cares for him. I know you can only have one BUT CUT THE FUCKING CORD PLEASE

4. Magnus is fucking perfection

5. Izzy is perfection too 🔥 I do not blame Simon losing his tongue over her. my bisexual mind was like OOOOO ALEC NO MAGNUS NO IZZY NO RAPHAEL NO MAIA!!!!!!! NO ALL OF THEM

6. Clary and Jace are very cringe and I’m not sure if that’s on the acting or the writing but it makes it hard to believe they’re “in love.” I felt more connection with Alec and Magnus meeting for a second than I did with jace and clary in three episodes. even Alec and jace have a bit more chemistry than he does with clary. and that is something I DO NOT ship

Jace: I would die for you

Clary: but jace we just met

Jace: I don’t care if I throw all my friends and family away clary. we’re destined to be together

7. superb acting from Matthew Daddario. he’s absolutely wonderful and he really captured Alec’s angst in my opinion. you can see why he’s on guard not only because he likes jace (ew my man Alec WHY) and because he’s worried about the safety of his people. I feel like Matt captures the emotion without saying a thing so well. as does Harry. I think they’re both great at this

8. “This would be bad for clary.”- (talking about the cup and valentine) Simon “it would be bad for all of us”-Izzy. of course in Simon and clary world, everything is all about clary. I get simon is worried about his bff but this affects EVERYONE

9. if Simon was my bff and someone as jace talked to my friend that way, ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT. she doesn’t really say much, she’s all like “we’re a package deal.” honestly clary and jace belong together because they both take advantage of their friends. they’re both so self centered so let them run away as far as possible together

10. Alec is big sad now but you will have better, just you wait. also want to add, I enjoy season one for the build up Alec and Magnus but man do I hate Alec pinning after jace 🤢 but if there isn’t any incest, it’s not a proper CC story

11. Im just here for the Malec content. stuff that show did well: Alec and Izzy’s sibling relationship. I love these two so much. Clary actually being nice to izzy and being her friend, and not being mean to her cause she’s jealous. Magnus’s whole attire. I love this bi king so much. I love magnus, I love his sass, his makeup, his clothes. I LOVE HIM. I wish they would’ve changed his hair and makeup more in the last two seasons. kinda feel like they thought oh he has mascara on, that’s good enough. that pink hair is truly one of my favorite Magnus looks.

12. last thing to add that I like what the show did. I love that Alec actually knows how to fight. it never made sense in the books that he’s never killed a demon, especially since he’s a Lightwood. never made sense to me. I’m glad they allowed in the show for Alec to actually be able to fight 🏹

the characters i’d ship: can i cheat and say derek and raphael since they’re both asexual? that’s too easy how about UHHHHHH how about braeden and maia that’s still a really Great werewolf/hunter dynamic with a nice competitive vibe

the characters who would be BFFs: i feel like post-victoria allison and alec would get along well and be good archer buddies. healthy competition. similar beliefs about supernatural creatures whomst they love. they’re both competent and neither of them are hot-headed enough that they’d fight all that often, unless it was season 1 alec who still liked Rules, because allison doesn’t really care about those lmao

the characters who would be enemies: i think magnus would particularly loathe jennifer, who uses her power to hurt people, and hurts people for more power, and then claims she herself is the victim here. for him that would be personal.

the characters who would be allies: conversely, i think magnus and scott would have a LOT of respect for each other because they share similar ideals and they both love their people and want to keep others safe.

the characters who would be allies, but reluctantly: i don’t think derek & scott would think very much of the way SH werewolf pack dynamics work (alpha as your boss vs alpha as your parent) and on the flipside maia and luke might think the TW werewolves are kind of soft, but werewolves are werewolves & they’d get shit done

the characters who would drive each other bananas: holy shit you guys, if raphael thought simon was bad, just WAIT until he meets stiles

the characters i think are the most alike: hear me out, it’s derek and alec. they are both grumpy as FUCK but it’s really because (at least at first) they’re miserable. then they loosen up later once they meet the right people. neither of them have any tolerance for bullshit. two peas in a pod. alternatively i think clary and scott are really similar…they are both just incredibly empathetic and care genuinely about people, and they’re also charismatic enough that people you wouldn’t expect to give them the time of day wind up following them and believing in them

my favorite character from each fandom & how i think they would get along: that’s easy, it’s magnus and derek, and derek would be like ಠ_ಠ while magnus tries to more or less treat him the way he’d treat any orphan werewolf with anger issues: pretend he’s not mothering him while absolutely mothering him, and also, being his amazing and perfect vibrant and energetic self, which would be kind of hilarious next to derek two-word-sentences hale. he would have an entire conversation with derek in which 99.9% of the words are his. wonderful
