ok hear me out, RDR2 is a masterpiece, but the first time i played it i couldn’t help but think something was missing: gay shit.

my fic follows the canon events and timeline of the entire game, but it’s focused on the “off camera” stuff, like what goes on between missions, as well as flashbacks to the early days of the gang (both before and after John joining), John's disappearance and return, maybe a couple Arthur/John missions.

i’ve tried really hard not to touch much of the canon material, so theoretically one could play the game and follow the timeline of my fic without the game going “off script”.

SO super basic description:

John and Arthur have a very hush hush fuck buddies thing going on at the start of the fic, but both are badly pining for the other.

events in canon finally forces one of them to confess. despite the relief that comes with knowing their love isn't unrequited, they now have to struggle with navigating a long awaited, but dangerous relationship. along with deciding how and when to tell the rest of the gang.

it's got fluff, it's got angst, it's got smut, it's got Arthur and John bickering. at least once it's got all four at the same time.

you know that scene where merlin and arthur are sneaking around and leon catches them and merlin tells him he was teaching arthur poetry??? well after that i fully believe arthur got curious and read some poetry and found he really liked it and tried his hand at it and one day accidentally leaves it out and merlin sees it one morning and he reads it and it makes him smile but he never says anything because his magic is secret so he'll let arthur have this

gwaine always tries to serenade gwen and merlin when he is drunk

occasionally arthur and merlin will sneak out of the palace when arthur needs to get away and just go chill by a stream or whatever and talk or just sit in silence

merlin is a horrible gossip and knows everything about everyone in the palace

leon has a mental tally of all the times arthur and merlin are arthurandmerlin and he loses a year of his life everytime he has to add a new one
