it's a lot of things i wish i knew as my first year LOL. i guess one thing that is probably super basic, don’t procrastinate. just get your stuff done so you don’t have to worry about it later ☝️ it’s easier said than done, but trust you’ll feel a lot better once you finish your assignments / projects early n on time !!! also, staying up late while working on stuff — don’t do that. it’s not good for you, and i always did that eheh. waiting ‘till the last minute of 11:59 to finish essays nuh uh. do your stuff as soon as it get assigned, DONT PROCRASTINATE 🫵 also, go to all your orientations. do nawt skip them

sleeeeeep. you need lots of sleep, regardless of what year you’re in it’s very important. i wish i knew that as a freshman 😀😀😀. i would stay up all night doin work, especially on the weekends. certified loser nerd. also, set an alarm !!!! if you’re a heavy sleeper like me, set a fuck ton of them !!!! or uh… have someone wake you up. i used to oversleep a lot, a way to prevent this is to usually go to sleep earlier than you usually do ( from my experience )

if you’re on campus, have some sort of map / guide so you know where you’re going !!!!! on my first day i literally got lost right away and i barely knew much english so it was even more embarrassing LOL. beeeee prepared !!!! ☝️ do research on ur school, they should provide those things — also, try to get those things ahead of time before your courses start so you aren’t askin random ppl where one of your rooms are. of course, its okay to still get lost anyway. it happens. ask for help if needed but make sure you’re prepared !!!

you don’t necessarily need friends to “survive” in college. everyone’s experience is different, but i found my experience easier by just keepin my circle small 🫂. IM NOT SAYING TO BE A LONER, you can have / make friends throughout your years ofc !!! in college, you’ll meet the best and worst people of your life. your main priorities should be yourself and your studies — but you come first at the end of the day. friends will always come & go, but eventually you’ll stumble across some nice ppl who share the same interests as you !!!

there’s prob super more important details but for the last thing i’ll say this— don’t let your grades define you 💓. it sucks majorly to get bad marks on something, especially if you stayed up countless hours on it, givin it your all. i personally have / had a habit of doing that, but never let it define you. if you truly think you didn’t get the right grade for any number of reasons, you can always talk to your prof about it in private. but don’t stress ab it !!! always remember you matter first over some exam 🫵

He misses the way your smile falters a bit when you read the tag, a small part of you hoping they were from the demon in front of you instead

"Another lackluster gift from what must surely be the most lackluster admirer on this side of the pentagram. Just look at how wilted those flowers are already!"

You shake your head and toy with the petals on the flowers, picking off the dying ones delicately

He loves me... he loves me not...

"Oh hush, it's rather darling that someone took time out of their day to give me something so thoughtful.."

You walk away to put the bouquet into a vase so you miss the twitch in Alastor's eye, the tight clenching of teeth and fierce grip on his staff

Or another time, you offered him a chocolate, munching away on sweets while holding a heart-shaped box

"Are you confessing to me? You shouldn't, I'm quite the heartbreaker just so you know~"

He regrets saying the words the moment they leave his mouth, but they're the only thing keeping a blush off his face, taking a chocolate to shut himself up

You only hum and roll your eyes, putting a hand on your hip as you shake the box at him, mostly all an attempt to get his eyes on the candies instead of your blushing face

"No, my secret little lover dropped off a bunch of these and I can't possibly be expected to eat all of this myself, now can I?"

The sweet treat suddenly feels bitter in his mouth and he wants to rip up the box in your hand

"Oh, so that's why these taste so uninspired! Most likely store bought instead of homemade, such a shame."

You only snort and shake your head, popping another chocolate into your pretty mouth

"Who makes homemade chocolates anymore? Let alone take time out of their day to have them delivered to me?"

Alastor is embarrassed by the warmth and genuine emotion in his voice, his smile softening as he looks you over

"Someone who cares about you enough to recognize you're worth the effort, my dear."

He leaves quickly to avoid any further embarrassment, blushing deeply and sliding the rest of the candy boxes into the trash on his way out

"A-Alastor!!"

"I'm simply doing you a favor, my dear!"

He doesn't see your sputtering and blushing as you try to comprehend what just happened

Alastor can handle the flowers, chocolates and all other sorts of gifts but when the letters start pouring in?? He's about to lose his mind

It's been at least three letters a week, and he's sick of finding them outside the hotel. He actually rips up the ones he gets to first

He finds Charlie and Angel leaning over your shoulder and reading a letter in your hands, a soft blush on your face

Charlie was cooing over how sweet the letter was while Angel was obviously teasing you, making your blush deepen

"And just what is that in your hands, my dear?"

You jump and try to hide the letter but Angel quickly snatches it away to keep reading it, laughing as he does

"Toots here got another love letter from her secret admirer~ They think she's just the most precious babe around~"

Charlie is squealing and fanning herself with her hands as she jumps up and down, making you groan and hide your face in your hands

"Isn't it just so romantic? They're really head over heels in love with her!"

Alastor feels his eye twitch as he snatches the letter from Angel to read it over himself, ignoring the noise of protest that comes from you

Finally, he glances over at you, crumpling the letter up and ripping it into pieces in front of everyone

"Well now! That was about the worst thing I've read all day!"

It felt good to rip it up, picturing it to be your admirer instead

You stand there in shock, eyeing the bits of paper then Alastor, Angel and Charlie slowly backing out of the room only to peek their heads back in

"They... they said I was beautiful."

Well... now he feels a little bad...

He recovers quickly though and wraps a casual arm around you, guiding you away from the mess as Niffty runs in to clean it up

"That's exactly what they wrote in the last one! It's nothing new, I'm afraid! Truly, you deserve better than that!"

You pout and lean your head on him a little, trying not to look disappointed about the letter

"Yeah? And just what do I deserve?"

He grins at you and leans in, pulling you closer to him

"Let me show you, my dear~"

You simply roll your eyes as you let him lead you out of the hotel on a walk, enjoying the weight of his arm around you

There's no more secret admirer after that, which suits you both just fine

Riordanverse oc week: day 2, 3 &4: Origin and abilities.

I decided to make these days together because it's kind of a pack. AND NOW WE HAVE DRAWINGS . So here we have:

Grace Scott:

Origin:

I think Grace is the most interesting one to talk about origin.

She didn't have a house as a child since 7 years old. Did she run away? Did their mortals guardians kicked them out of the house? Who knows. They were on the streets for a long time and I like to say that they found Magnus at some point but the places and times won't match so I'll keep that on an AU.

That whole time they were kind of proving themselves to Hecate. Kind of similar to what Romans demigods do. They have a pretty sense of preservation, though.

Sometimes they stayed on strangers houses. Those people were good people and it wasn't just a random event. When things got hard, when winter came, Grace always had a good place to stay. Maybe it wasn't the best. But she always had food on her plate and never had a very bad time. Kind of a miracle, if we mortals see it from or point of view.

Somewhere in between, when Grace was about 9 or 10 years old, monsters started to noticed them properly. So it was time to go to camp. They deserve it. At this point they didn't knew exactly that they're a demigod. They knew there is magic on the world. They knew that things they read on those children books had some truth.

It was a cold night. Snowy night. They were staying on a park, under a tree. Someone passes near and notice that first: there's a child alone, second: they're not using shoes or a jacket and it's cold.

Grace wasn't cold. They were pretty warm, actually. Magic keeps them warm. And that catch the attention of the demigod in front of them: Nico di Angelo.

I MEAN I KNOW IT'S KIND OF CLICHE BUT. C'MON. IF I WAS A FAN OF MYTHOLOGY AND THEN BOOM, A SON OF HADES HIMSELF SHOWS UP, NOT ONLY BEING A DEMIGOD BUT A WAR HERO, AND TELLS ME I'M A DEMIGOD, I'LL BE VERY HAPPY. Let the child be happy. Shush.

So it didn't take a lot to convince Grace to go to camp. Neither to them to get used to camp. Dream come true, actually.

And that's as far as I have for now.

Powers and Weapons:

As a child of Hecate, they're good with spells and magic. So that's kind of a unlimited thing here, I'm not going to elaborate but it's not all mighty and so. They're good enough as any kid of Hecate.

They can sense ghosts. And also comunicate with them. They don't know about this, no one ever pointed out that they're talking 'alone' sometimes.

Technically they can shadow travel. And actually? I never put them to try so I don't think they know they can.

They have a very good control at nature spells. Like. The elements and that stuff.

Mist control too but they need to practice more.

I don't know a lot about weapons but I think they'll use something really weird that no one knows about but it's easy to use. Preferible something light and small.

I think they'll be good at use a spear too. Idk.

Allan Austen

Origin:

You know I really like the concept of non-so-bright demigods. Those who aren't that powerful and can pass perfectly as a mortal without problem. You know, those with a broke monster radar, low dislexia and so. But that also makes them kind of a weird on their own world (the camp).

I really don't have much to say about his origin. He didn't catch that much of attention of the whole demigod stuff. He went to camp only when Hades claimed him. He prefers to stay at camp the whole year, but being honest he just spends the time that he doesn't have school.

He was claimed after the whole 'gods have to claim their children' stuff, so he was at camp when The Lost Hero happens (important thing on his history ☝️‼️).

He's my boring looking guy, I love him.

Powers and Weapons:

Did I leave clear that he doesn't like the whole drama about being a demigod? Yes? Okey, moving on.

He's good with archery and kind of good with the swords.

He always carry with himself a dagger that Nico gave him, even when he's not good with it.

He's so prone at having accidents while using weapons. He's more danger to himself than the monsters ever will be.

He doesn't have control of undead or necromancy abilities. He can sense ghosts but not so bright at it. He's good at sensing the life auras, though.

Shadow travel (Not allowed to do it anymore because he overdid it and almost died).

Fun fact: shadow travel makes his eyes and root(? Of his hair become slightly darker, something related to the shadows or something like that (again: do not let him use shadow travel. He has a boyfriend with a bronce dragon for something).

He has a LOT of geokinesis abilities.

Make him really mad and you'll provoque a slight tremor(?.

I mean he's not good at sensing strong emotions so he's kind of good at keeping himself calm. But when he feels strong emotions. Oh boy. Thanks gods it doesn't happen often.

He doesn't know how to use his powers.

He doesn't want to learn.

COLD FEET. COLD HANDS. THIS GUY IS A LIVING ICE. HE'S LACKING OF ANY KIND OF WARMTH.

(the last one may be related to the anemia. Don't tell Will, Nico and Allan had passed it to being a child of Hades thing).

This guy is sleepy all the time. People is starting to think is a child of Hades thing because Nico is the same.

He has a slightly (NOT SLIGHTLY AT ALL. A VERY STRONG ONE) aura of fear sometimes. He says people are exaggerating. They're not. Allan can be scary sometimes, he's a son of one of the big three after all.

This might or not might be an ability of him but sometimes he gets visits (possessed) by this guy who knows a thing or two about prophecies. It happens in dreams.

(the last one only makes sense with a fanfic of mine but I'm too lazy to finish it. It usually doesn't happen on a daily basis).

Morgan Campbell

Origin:

Let's say that he's the only one of the group with a really "present" dad.

He knew Dionysus since he was a kid. He knew the guy and sometimes he visited him when he was little. He never understood why he left, though.

When he started to grow older, those visits started to stop. He became a little upset about his dad being like that, leaving him and his mom alone. His mother always told him that his dad was a great man and he wasn't trying to be rude. He just couldn't be there.

Morgan didn't understood until he became 12.

And oh gods. The horrors.

He wasn't that scared about the monsters. No. His mother taught him about the Greek world, more than he thought it was necessary. But then things began to make sense. The myths. The gods. The monsters. He wasn't crazy and he knew it.

But his dad. Oh boy. That was the most traumatic event of his life. This gremlin wasn't the same man he remembered (he was). If someone tells him that they look alike, he's gonna puke.

Dionysus is not a bad guy. That's why he didn't took Morgan under the camp embrace before. He didn't wanted to make his little theater obsessed boy prone to danger. He knew how the gods were. He knew that there's little he can do once his child is claim.

But then the battle of the labyrinth happens.

He can't loose another kid.

But some part of him didn't wanted to stay away from his child. Some selfish part of him wanted to stay close to him. A part of him wanted to light up a little the cabin 12.

And that's why Morgan came to camp.

Powers and Weapons:

He's VERY GOOD at archery.

No one knows how or why. He's just good at it.

He's an awesome actor too. This may be related to being child of Dionysus. Mr. D thinks his son it's just that awesome.

Good singer too. That has nothing to do with his heritage.

Did I mention that he's also good looking —? Okay, okay, I shut up.

He has the same thing that sometimes children of Ares have(?. The one about descontrol of emotions to people near them. Idk how to explain it. Some emotions near him are prone to feel stronger than they are, related to the madness thing.

He can slightly control some plants ☝️‼️

so i myself have struggled with sh for like, almost ten years (and still do) so take this from a professional if you will /j ☝️ take everything with a pinch of salt because a lot of this will probably be skewed by my own biases and experiences

I have scars on my upper arms and my thighs, because I roll my sleeves up a lot and i wear shorts a lot these were the places it was easiest for me to hide it. these are naturally where i picture scars on winn, but we see him with short sleeves, like, maybe three times total, so i can believe he has scars further down his arms/elsewhere too.

seriously, with such a shitty upbringing I'd almost find it harder to believe he doesn't have any

he doesn't really consider himself "sober" or "clean" or anything like that. he doesn't have many feelings towards it now, it's been a part of him for so long it's just something that he deals with, same as getting dressed in the morning or paying his bills. he does try not to most of the time, but it's not something he gets too upset about anymore if he doesn't manage it

he doesn't feel like he can quit completely/go cold turkey because very often it's months or even years between episodes

more prone to relapsing during a panic attack or a meltdown, i.e, when he's not exactly in the right frame of mind

he had a few scars on his chest from some angsty transgender teenage times, but they obviously aren't there anymore since he got top surgery (which I hc to be in the 6 month gap between S2 and S3)

part of it is almost cathartic for him? there's a (not so small) part of him that truly believes he deserves the pain of it, its almost comforting since he's so used to feeling physical pain, and its a comfort in a another way because its pain he can control

its a way of letting out big emotions so he doesn't bottle them up and explode like his dad- mostly anger.

it was worse when he was younger and alone, as he grew and met kara and alex and everyone else, he never kicked the habit completely but it shifted to more subtle forms of sh, overworking himself, burning himself out, neglecting his health, etc

alex has some suspicions, but she knows winn well enough to know that she would only make it worse if she were ever to confront him about it

definitely attempted before. maybe that's projection, but again, I'd find it harder to believe he hadn't given how much he bottles up everything he's endured. meeting kara was his reason for living, not because he liked her, but because she was the first person ever who'd shown interest in wanting to get to know him/be his friend

he has some weird patchy/uneven spots of body hair, particularly on his thighs, since hair doesn't grow through scar tissue. he's a little insecure about it because it makes it a lot more obvious since it's not hidden by anything, but there's nothing he can really do about it

brought to you by me, 3 months on testosterone, realising hair is growing on my thighs everywhere that is not scar tissue

winn has a LOT of scars. like, a lot. way more than the average person, and he's elicited quite a few gasps from people seeing him naked for the first time, but there's very very few of them that aren't from some kind of violence- he's got several little ones on his fingers from slipping with a soldering iron or working with sharp metal and plastic, a couple faded ones on his knee and elbow from that time he tripped on the playground when he was a kid.

—I think Kalim watched Madoka Magica and he's a fan! Idk, something about the mixture of sweet youthful themes with maturity and horror and stuff would be up his alley? I do consider him to be a lil bit slightly just slightly just a lil bit fucked up in the head, with how much he mentions all of his. Very severe uh. Childhood stuff. I don't think he'd communicate that he enjoyed it though. He seems to not like to open up about the parts of him that aren't cheery and bubbly.

—He would absolutely also like ridiculous comedy though. Like. Idk "Sakamoto Desu Ga?" or "Tomo-Chan is a Girl" or. indeed as you mentioned Saiki. Also GUMBALL and adventure time.

Vil strikes me as a Bridgerton person who criticises the outfits but I think he'd like historic dramas (would like them more if they were accurate too Jdjdn). i can maybe see him enjoying Wednesday a bit even tho he didn't get the initial hype, not his fave but definitely something he likes. He probably absolutely loves Little Women tho, I can see that being top #1 for him.
