TY Smalls (named of the decidueye) and Kieran had a REALLY rocky start to their partnership so idk. I like drawing them when they're more chill feels nice. Honestly even nostalgia doesn't save gen 6 from being kind of meh for me but one thing they knocked out of the park was introducing pokemon amie being friends with your pokemon is so important. When you get to the elite four in ultra sun/moon and your starter comes out to encourage you and let you know after all this how strong your bond is and that you're together through this no matter what made me FEEL something man they need to bring stuff like that back. Let's go eevee and Pikachu were right actually the most important thing in the world is being friends with your pokemon.

Thinking today about Boothill falling first, but Dan Heng falling harder.

Like I think of Boothill as being pretty self-aware, so he knew it almost immediately. He pointed his gun at Dan Heng and the guy didn't flinch didn't hesitate didn't even get scared just stood there with his arms crossed and casually insulted Boothill like he couldn't have made the furniture of the Express an even brighter red with a single squeeze of his trigger finger. Boothill knew he was doomed before they even defeated Sunday, and it only got worse and worse, the longer they sat at that bar in the Reverie together. ♡

Meanwhile Dan Heng was raised in a prison cell with zero say over anything. He was considered a criminal and he was being punished. There wasn't exactly anyone encouraging his emotional intelligence. It didn't matter what he wanted, so thinking about his own wants/needs/feelings is something that just like. Doesn't occur to Dan Heng.

Like he IS slowly but surely figuring it out, and he still acts on stuff of course. He and Boothill share that sort of ruthless straightforwardness where they can see action -> result. Dan Heng knows that he doesn't want anything to happen to the Crew, so he guards them viciously. Action (guard person) -> result (person stays alive). But I think if you asked him, he'd have a hard time putting his feelings for them into words, "they're once-in-a-lifetime companions" is about as deep as you're going to get from him haha

Anyway, all this to say, I think that even if he already knew he liked Boothill romantically, when Dan Heng- who guards his chosen little flock like a herding breed or maybe a sheepdog with a coyote collar- sees Boothill do something protective, like literally take a bullet for March 7th

("It's fine, it ain't gonna hurt me near as bad as it woulda hurt you, missy. It's just another dent, quit yer fussin'.")

that is when it suddenly hits him like a brick that oh, oh no, he loves him.

What do you think of atomic robo x Jenkins (if you're still into that comic)

Generally, I like Atomic Robo in a way that doesn't compel me to stack "shipping" on top of the story as it stands. (The humorous/matter-of-fact/low-key approach to romance is kind of a draw for me.)

That said, the Robo/Jenkins relationship sure has a "male soul bonding thru fires of battle, muscle meets and respects muscle" thing going on, with all those possible homoerotic connotations. The idea that you find the only other person indestructible enough to keep up with you, that's a deeply compelling type of partnership, you know? I think Brian Clevinger said the goal was that it's never totally clear which one is actually the sidekick to which.

So some old-married-coupleness comes with the territory. It doesn't hurt that Alan totally imprinted on Jenkins as a second, cooler dad. (Or that Jenkins is one of the few Action Scientists to have a clear and complete character arc. Funny, since he seemingly evolved out of a 2012 era Chuck Norris type joke. Any bit character can become a Real Boy/Girl when properly cherished.) It's fun, I just don't have much more to say about it than the comic itself does.

hanahaki fic aka obi-wan is in love with anakin but also will always tease him

Obi-Wan makes an inquiry into an appointment at the Halls of Healing, so of course Anakin comm calls him an hour later. 

“You know, slicing into a fellow Jedi’s healing records is against the Code, padawan,” Obi-Wan tells him, busying himself with the tea kettle so that he doesn’t have to look at Anakin’s scowling, miniature face.

“I don’t think the Code is quite as extensive as you like to tell me, Master,” Anakin says, and he crosses his arms. There’s a crinkle of leather against cloth. He must be wearing his glove then. A part of Obi-Wan wonders about it—how often does Anakin wear it around his wife? “Unless they’ve made substantial revisions to it in the last five years.”

Obi-Wan flicks the fire on, sets the kettle on top of it lightly, and then turns to lean back against the counter. ��Surely I don’t know what you mean,” he says innocently, and Anakin’s glower triples. 

“Dissecting droids in the common spaces of one's apartments is against the Code, padawan,” Anakin says in a very poor impression of Obi-Wan’s voice. “Waking your master up in the morning the day after his birthday when he’s very hungover is against the Code, padawan. Avoiding your essays is against the Code, Anakin, you must do your homework promptly.”

Obi-Wan lets out a bark of surprised laughter. “You can hardly blame me for the fact that you took me at my word with no research on your own part.”

Anakin lets out an affronted sound, akin to a bird being stepped on. “I was a youngling! You took advantage of my trust in you!”

His look of indignation, coupled with the sheer absurdity of the conversation and the memories of just how many times Obi-Wan brandished some made up piece of Code at his very young padawan in order to garner some peace and quiet, makes Obi-Wan laugh again. This time, however, the bout of laughter turns into a series of coughs.
