Part 3: Once I figured out how primer and paint would react with the different materials, I applied a base teal coat to all of the pieces I intended to use for the diorama. Tree Trunks: I used paper towel rolls and clay to make the tree trunks. I sealed everything with a mixture of mod podge and primer and painted a basic gradient over them.

Pom Fungus: I dabbed paint onto the surface of the pom poms until they were adequately coated. Then I applied glue to the ends of wire and stuck them into the pom poms.

Fungal Growth: I cut lengths of wire and formed loops on one end. I applied hot glue and used gravity to direct and shape it as it dried. Later I would coat them in a mixture of sand, mod podge, and baking soda to give them a rough texture and painted them teal.

Flora: I found some fish tank plants at the dollar store, cut them into different heights for variety, then primed and painted them with the teal.
