OK good news

I decided to try the Magnus Archives again after falling off (I became aware of it just as the last season was airing and I thought "oh I should wait until it's finished" and then forgot all about it) and it is just as great as people say.

Bad news, I've looked for fic and the algorithm is failing me. So if you guys have any recs? I mainly want stuff about how people care for/about Jon the hateful murderous gargoyle weirdo and how he cares for them in turn. It obviously can have horror but, and I know this is a big ask, No Bummers please.

Tough Love

Growing up, our parents did things that made us upset. We couldn't eat the whole bag of candy that we got on halloween in one sitting, we had to come inside when it was getting late, we had to do our chores, etc. When you are the caregiver of an animal, sometimes you have to give them the same kind of tough love.

Different breeds have different specific needs. There are rabbits and guinea pigs with longer fur. These little smallies do require being brushed, and it's not something they are used to right away. It takes time to get an animal use to being brushed, and lots of positive reinforcement. But that doesn't mean it is something that should be avoided. The knotting and mats that result in not brushing are not just full of fur... These animals are low to the ground, the ground in which they use the restroom. The mats are full of feces, urine, dead fur, dead skin, and hay. It's not unheard of for there to be bugs either. Over time, these mats also become more compact, and become closer to the skin. This causes pulling and irritation on the already sensitive skin, and can result in open wounds and infections. I haven't even begun to speak about the digestive problems that can result from ingesting too much hair. So, if your smallie doesn't like being brushed, try offering them their favorite snack while you brush them. It might also be a good idea to do it over time in short intervals. No matter what, brushing isn't an option, it's a necessity for the health of the animal.

Getting nail trims is something that I don't think any animal enjoys. But the longer nails grow, the more likely they are to cause disaster. Animals with long nails are more likely to cut and scratch both themselves and others. That's the simplest problem. Longer nails are more likely to be broken, and split or broken nails that are not monitored or treated can result in infection. They can also be quite painful. I have also seen animal's nails grow in all different directions, which has resulted in the nail growing directly into the skin, causing infections and basically a continuous painful wound. Trimming nails is admittedly not an easy task, it's certainly a skill. If you are in need of help trimming your pet's nails, ask for help!

I understand not wanting to upset, anger, or injure the animals that we adore so deeply. But by avoiding necessary care, they're being neglected and further issues and or pain may even result. If you are in need of help brushing or clipping your animal's nails, veterinary hospitals are usually more than willing to help (of course they do usually charge). If you are in the Southern New England area, we offer small animal nail trims at the RISPCA for $15 per animal, and all the profits go towards the care of the shelter smallies. I am sure many other shelters or rescues across the country offer similar services as well. So, for the sake of our beloved pet's health, we are going to have to upset them sometimes, and provide them with some tough love.

I feel like he wouldn't know what to do with all your affection, he just gets all blushy and shy, melting to all of your touches and words. he loves it when you massage his stiff muscles after he comes home from a long day of work, he relaxes so much when you lay his head in your lap and play with his hair...

she's flopped over koji with her arms wrapped around him tightly, clinging to him. she doesn't want to let go, not until he promises to let her paint his nails. "i'll paint them any color, whatever you want. lemme do it~"

❝ ━ the last time you tried, it got all over my hands, nina. ❞ koji was just being dramatic honestly, he wouldn't even mind if she did, because he rather liked wearing polish whenever the mood struck him. and if nina wanted to paint his nails some new color she found, well, who was he to not oblige her ? turning his attenton back to his cat video, koji hums softly, not really minding how she clung to him. one thing he knew about himself, he did crave contact, and nina was always in his space and he was grateful that he didn't have to request it. ❝ ━ how about we come to a compromise: you show me the color first and i might say yes. or, i pay for us to get manipedis for the day ? ❞

its funny to me when a cartoon or something has a vague Evil Organization because a lot of fans will instantly decide that there's a whole workplace comedy happening there. those guys can't just be vaguely standing around acting evil all day they've gotta have like an evil break room or something

The drone of cicadas snapped her lolling head straight. She blinked hard enough and her eyes began to water. Birds sang and a passing family car swirled up dust, then disappeared. She gnawed her lip. There was nothing at the gate. No one had gone in or out from the neighbor's across the street in hours. Even if someone did see her, they'd scram meeting her glare, not caring for why she wasn't at school. She'd never be 'one of the neighborhood girls' again. That was another bullet scrawled on the thick list she'd cave Jin's head in with.

It was hot for early June, hotter than it had any right to be; as if that bastard could feel her anger and sent a wave of devilish hell fire to piss her off. Her head started to dip and nod. Her muscles were syrup and her gi and hakama were more dust beaten than she could take from days standing sentry. But sitting under the veranda or not, she wouldn't leave the yard, except maybe to piss. When she slept she'd learned how to curl herself just right so the wood planks stopped digging into her hip, how to tuck her head so her neck wouldn't catch so bad a crick. She would not leave this post, not for all the blur dancing around her vision nor the ringing in her ears.

A sound dripped into her with a rhythmic pace; the kind of deliberate intent only footsteps could make. A mark, an attacker! This one would mean her harm. They would wash over the house, take what they wanted, and be gone leaving her another loss. Chill pulsed through her veins jolting her wide awake. She leapt up and out from the shadows. It was a woman in front of her, just one, signing up for a broken face. Asuka's voice boomed,

"Don't move. What's with tha' freak get up? Yer here ta' crash tha' dojo ain't ya?!"

I don't do my nails often but every time I do I have to be sooo fucking careful or they get messed up. (I tend to wave my hands a lot, so see a long time of me trying not to do my automatic motions) I banged my hand against something like 20 min after painting them once and completely ruined one nail it was ridiculous.

A master to his action-hero trainee says, "Your movements are sloppy. You lack awareness of your body when you fight. Your hands move and yet you do not hold them in your mind's eye. Come. We will remedy this."

And then the master paints his trainee's fingernails and orders the trainee to complete a series of complicated tasks without smudging the nail polish.
