"The Brief History of a Filipino Astronaut" Ashley Manugas (Cebu)

It is post-pandemic Philippines.The nation grapples with the omnipresence of the so-called new normal. Two strangers, Amy and David, in a chance encounter, learn one bizarre thing about each other: they have lived cunningly similar lives. Or so they think.

And both have long died, too, light years away. It is the dawn of space voyage. En route to Jupiter, David is killed as his spacecraft explodes. Back in Earth, Amy dies of old age. Their budding romance, across pivotal eras of modern Philippine history, is bound to fail. Except once: David, drifting in vacuum, plunges into a time warp where a new universe unfolds. Here, Amy awaits. They have lived and died, but this time, out of billion histories and futures, the star-crossed lovers get a shot at forever.

“Sa Adlaw Na Nabiyaan Mi Sa School Bus” (On the Day the School Bus Left Us) Directed by Ashley Manugas

This short film is about two girls—they are classmates, who left by their school bus and made something that might change their lives.

I like how the director used sounds to add that suspense feeling, it really helped a lot. The crime made by two girls surprised me because it’s far away different from their personalities, especially Oona. From one afternoon they enjoying while eating and chitchatting to a deadly and bloody scene.

It is something about saving yourself from danger or letting them to take advantage and disgusts you.
