ON A QUIET side street lies an equally silent cafe, nestled soundly between a laundromat and a vacant storefront. it’s a wonder how the shop was still open, and an even greater mystery as to how kano secured a job there. regardless, there he was; uniform and all, waiting on a completely empty house. a hefty yawn began to escape his mouth, hidden behind the palm of his hand-- cut short as the door jingled open. cool air and the smell of coffee rushed out the door, replaced by the summer heat and the rustling of a dress.
now, hold on a second-- a double-take was required in situations like this. that took a moment, and it only took one more for him to produce a cup of tea and pull out a chair, grinning widely.
「wow, what a surprise! fancy seeing you here, huh? and here i was, wondering what the poor ( dan ) would do without me . . . don’t worry, i’ll make sure to make you feel right at home! take a load off and relax〜」
mary would feel anything but relaxed, unfortunately-- the cup he had offered was spiked with hot sauce.

Okay. So, now that Shintaro has recovered himself from the initial panic that took him over upon his arrival on the city, he takes the time to properly process all the info that he's just gotten.
1. His world is over. Killed for real. Or so is thr premise sold to him. How much this story is credible or not is up to discussion (after all, what could be powerful enough to annihilate a whole planet at once, across multiple universes? This is either a bulls*** lie or a terrifying truth and he doesn't know which alternative he prefers.).
2. He's been thrown into some sort of virtual reality, where there're somehow super powered people from legends and other worlds. A very strong point in favor of the bulls*** alternative, but for now suffice to say that he has to find his so called Servant if he wishes to have any chance of survival.
3. Said virtual reality is currently under a very unstable moment, where he has to walk around looking for these 'Saint Fragment' things if he hopes to bring things back to normal. ...Which involves facing a bunch of highly aggressive people and the competition of other Masters and Servants. Without his own by his side. Wonderful.
"Aaaaah, what a bother..." He sighs and slouches. He just wants to go home and relax. That cube thing they gave him should have his address, no? But even so, how will he get home? He spots a short, hooded person and pokes them. "Excuse, could you help me with some info?"

Look at this little princess. Someone so small and fragile looking has bound to be weak, right? He paid no attention to Marry. Eyes ran over her like a truck with roadkill. Though they flashed back once she saw something. Something noteworthy. Her eyes flashed red. Even if it was for a second, they still did. With a hop, step and a jump, he was by her side, wrapping an arm around that frail shoulder. Pulling her close while still walking. Curiosity never killed this cat.
“Nyaho. Hey little birdie... Tell me someowthing ‘bout ya eyes.”

Ray didn’t like it when prospects where thin-- and he didn’t like it any further when sacrifices had to be made. But that was the sort of thing he had already steeled himself for long ago in his own world. But, this wasn’t that world. And this place wasn’t as foreign as the outside world he and his siblings found themselves lost in as soon as they escaped from captivity. This modern city was more to the style of the books Ray devoted himself too, and thankfully he could put that to use.
Though, he found that putting his own wits to the test was sort of coming around faster than he expected. Dealing with infected citizens on his own was an easy enough task that Ray wouldn’t bother explaining to anyone who even cared to listen, but helping someone else? That was a different story. And such a scene would be playing out before his eyes without him even asking. In the distance would be one, fragile girl with flowing white hair, petrified and on the ground, with infected citizens closing in on her.
That girl was no sibling. Ray was no hero of justice. But... he did owe her one. For picking up his Triplicata some days back. Not only that, the child could already hear his siblings raising complaints that he hadn’t already moved his sorry body over to help her. Really, he was just making excuses to butt his own little head into someone else’s problem.
“Hey. We’re going.” He gave the girl little room for argument-- Ray immediately took her hand and hoisted her up. With the infected citizens coming in closer on the two, Ray had to be quick about this whole thing. “You better keep up.” The child shoots at her, as he dragged her forward and away from the immediate danger.

“I can’t wait… Then, we can all smile together again…!”
That’s–
probably smart, not to mention the last little tidbit. Marry’s face shines, and it’s most likely that the only way she can cope in this strange situation is by convincing herself that her friends will join her soon enough.
After all, it’s unimaginable for her to be without them.
“Shintaro-kun hasn’t met his servant, either…? Ah… I hope they are alright…”
“…The voice? Um, I heard it, but…”
Didn’t understand any of it. The girl puts her palms to her cheeks, thinking seriously for a moment, though the feeling surrounding her is one of utter confusion.
“Shining shards…? Like, sugar candy…? Um, I had some, but these other people wanted it really badly, so I let them have it…”
"So you didn't mind giving them out just like that..." Shintaro sighs. He could reprehend Marry for that, but honestly, would she even know what to do with that big an amount of money? It might be better if she doesn't get into the middle of this Fragment mess anyway. It'd only upset her delicate medusa heart.
"...That's alright. The most important thing is that you're safe and sound." He smiles towards her. It's nice having a couple familiar figures close by. It makes this apocalyptical scenario seem a little bit more hopeful. As if there's something actually worth fighting for now.
He then looks at the girl's bags. "If you got everything you needed already, though, we should go back home now. I'll accompany you."

“Everyone else is going to… come soon, right? Since there’s already three of us. I want to show Seto… there are talking rabbits.”
“Infected…? Is there…a cold going around?”
That could be bad, indeed. Hikkikomori got sick very easily, you know. They lacked the natural exposure to diseases that someone surrounded by people would have.
Though, the ‘infection’ Shintaro meant was not one that they could catch.
“A master… Um, but… I haven’t met my servant yet.”
"I... sure hope so." They were the only people with whom he felt fully comfortable with. Their captors did assure that they may come soon, but... there's no certainty. Shintaro is sensitive enough not to mention that bit to Marry, however.
"Just as me, then." He sighs. Just how much more does he need to walk before finding them. "As for that, didn't you listen to the voice from the Triplicata when you arrived? People are becoming more aggressive and might attack us over something called Saint Fragments. Do you have any sort of small, glass like shining shards with you, Marry?"

marrygoloop:
Marry… I wonder if she’s even noticed, though.
I mean, it’s always loud and messy for her, and everyone is scary, so something like that… Well, at the very least, she’s aware that something’s different than usual.
“Shintaro-kun–!!!”
The girl repeats Shintaro’s name, as if she can’t quite believe his presence. She’d met Ayano, but the hope of meeting anyone else was still small and budded in Marry’s heart.
“Mmh… I’m here too.”
Marry answers him simply.
“Oh… Um, I was scared at first, but… Ayano-chan said it’s okay, because I’m not alone. And look! Now Shintaro-kun is here as well!”
…She hasn’t met her servant, which is why she’s not still scared.
Shintaro keeps a decent distance from the girl, not wanting to disturb any of their personal spaces. He's not exactly the hugging sort, so it's easy for him to do so. Marry seemed bright eyed upon spotting him. Well, not surprising, considering how she's only comfortable close to the gang's members, but she seems way too carefree considering their current predicament...
"Ah, so you've met Ayano too." Was Shintaro's simple comment. "Look, Marry, I hate to cut your fearless parade, but we shouldn't stay too long on the street. Things seem calm now, but at any moment we could be attacked by a group of infected people. Are you a Master or a Servant here?"

She just had to get some groceries. Even a simple task like that… On her own, it was difficult for Marry. A challenge. Spending so much of her life alone, never leaving her house…
Marry was a hikkikomori through and through.
So, when someone attacks her with a poke out of nowhere, she freezes. Don’t talk to me, please. Don’t look at me, please. Let me go, please…
The girl turns her head, to meet the attacker’s gaze. She’s shaking. But, before she can say anything–
“S…Shintaro-kun—!!!”
She expects a stranger. But, instead, she’s greeted with someone familiar. A friend. A fellow hikkikomori.
A member of the Mekakushi Dan.
Well, I’d suppose that going out for groceries in the middle of a city wide crisis would be a challenge for anyone, hikikkomori or not. But Shintaro can be sympathetic with her cause. So many of the timelines he’s lived were composed of shame and embarrassment...
Truth be told, he too was dreading having to talk to someone for info but, thankfully, it was nothing to worry about. That is, nothing to worry about his social screw ups, for the presence of Marry here brings up a whole new series of worries in regards to her wellbeing.
But each thing on its time. First of all, he should recognize that she exists at all. “M-Marry?! You are here too?!” The surprise is evident on his tone. “H-How are things going for you?”
